Can you tell where my brain is these days?
Striped stockings and orange orbs indeed!
We have been such busy busy bees.
Where did the time go?
So much going on I tell ya.
Plus with garden chores and more harvests and making Mister Lovee his own office space.
Fixing my ornery lawn mower…
Organizing this and that, dusting here and there.
And an endless list I won’t bore you with.
Oh oh, also, I got oodles of parcels shipped.
That took me several days.
I love packaging orders, I take time to infuse each one with a little goodness.
With all of that on the list, plus other stuff, I have been totally exhaustified.
But I have started my spooky tale watching.
And I got out the stripes today.
With so many pumpkin things happening in the garden, I couldn’t resist.
That brings me to the tale at hand…
The Wishing Tree.
Something wonderful happened at the mesquite tree that canopies over the gypsy wagon camp.
Gourd and pumpkin seeds somehow found their way here, and crawled right up the tree, straight into the sky endlessly.
I planted a couple, but most are volunteers.
I just love that.
Mister tree seems to be super okay with it all.
The vines went straight up, and then out and over and all around.
Pouring out here and there like waterfalls.
There are gourds hanging way way high up in the sky, I tell ya.
If you look real close through warmest sunbeams, you can see 3, 4, 5 and more.
I zoom in, knowing I will never be able to reach them all.
But excited as can be.
Mister Lovee and I stand underneath pointing, look there, oh there, and there too!
Then we spot perfectly huge pumpkins dangling up there as well.
Tucked in, huge things, hiding perfectly.
Mysteriously.
Every where you turn, there they hang.
I don’t know what my gourd and pumpkin fascination is…
But if you know me, you know I am happy as can be with this tree tale.
Looking up into that wishing tree, whispering wow…
It’s amazing, how the vines can hold such heavy things.
The one thing you can’t see are all the orange butterflies floating about.
They laid all their eggs on the passion fruit vines which cover the tree as well, and caterpillar babies gobbled up all the leaves, see?
And now, we are seeing more and more butters everyday.
And more pumpkins, there they sway.
High, up so high.
Telling secrets, promising wishes…
So many wishes, blown up into the sky.
Got any wishes you’d fancy adding?
Such curious goodness.
This pumpkin loving heart couldn’t really ask for more could it?
Oh that wishing tree, sending it’s vines cascading over garden baths and gypsy dreams.
Just like that.
Autumn on the horizon, and yet it’s hotter days than ever.
With cool lovely nights.
That’s the funny thing about Arizona.
Clouds tease some last monsoon rain, and rainbows find their way.
We sit and type, and think.
Losing track.
Pondering this and that.
Striped stockings start to roll off, as witchy toes want to break free.
I am here, out here waving!
Dreaming of Halloween.
‘Tis true.
I can’t help it.
How are you out there???
Love, V
ps: The yellow pods you see hanging all over the tree and scattered on the ground are called mesquite beans. They started from super fuzzy catkins hangigng everywhere in spring. They are really sweet inside with a row of seeds. Mesquite trees grow easily from the fallen pods. And, mesquite beans can be collected and turned into mesquite flour.

A pumpkin tree! How cool is that!
I love the little pumpkin in the typewriter!
I was just out today buying a few Halloween items. I know I have too much already but…I just can’t help myself!
I LOVE Halloween!
My Etsy goodies were waiting for me when I got home today!!! Whee!
Lovelovelove to you, my Beloved Muse. Big Gigantic Love. How am I? Feeling God’s arms around me. May you feel the same.
**blows kisses**
Deb

Hi there lovely Amber, I am with you, Halloween even though it’s so hot 🙂
I am doing good, keeping up with the goodness, hanging in there like those pumpkins 😉
I love your magic tree! Don’t get hit by falling pumpkins! I am home from my little surgery. It was not as bad as I feared.I hope yours goes well to.I am so excited for Halloween.I can’t help it I have to get pumpkins and stuff even when I already have enough.I would leave it up year around if people would not think me mad!
Thank you for sharing your magic stuff. It is such a treat for all of us.
Hi Vanessa! You seem really chipper today. So glad to see Halloween things out and about. Your wishing tree, reminds me so much my favorite Halloween book by Ray Bradbury, The Halloween Tree. You would really, really love it!. The illustrations are fabulous, and Ray’s way of writing is magical. Give it a try! Keep the sunny side up!!
Oh Karen, I am on it right away, off to look it up asap! Thank you sooo much for the awesome tip!
I have this thing where, if I am angry, it subsides really fast. I can’t hold a grudge even if I try. And when I am sad, I might start skipping, and then I am like, hey wait, I am supposed to be sad.
And, I am one of those people that, if times get tough I kick and scream and find a way to expunge it. Of course, some trials and tribulations are a bit more challenging – but I am finding that falling into faith blindly is all I have. And so, everyday is too be cherished, with some blips in the road which can’t be helped. So why fight it?
And sometimes you will find me in the road kicking and screaming 🙂
My dad always says, crying is good for you. Laugh and cry everyday he says.
And now, I am going to go relax in a billion pillows 🙂
Sunny side up, high fives!!
That is the most amazing thing, that those huge pumpkins can hang in those limbs without falling and breaking the vines. I think that is definitely a magic tree you have there. It’s too hot for striped stockings for me yet, but I’m looking forward to it. I’ve been thinking about you a lot and hoping you are doing well. I hope you have a ladder that Mr. Lovee can climb to get those pretty pumpkins and gourds down! 🙂
love & blessings

ps…hugs & kisses to the pupsters
Pumpkins and gourds in the Wishing Tree! Oh! My! How magical is that!
Your garden amazes me. What a wonderful wonderland of lovely tangled vines all over the place.
I found some red and black striped long stockings today at my favorite thrift store for 99 cents! I couldn’t resist them…they were calling my name…’Come Miss Fairy Princess Teresa, come and buy us!’ I didn’t even blink once, they were in my hands in a second.
I loved this post!
Goodness Vanessa, I am really diggin those shoes🖤 Oh and the hosiery too🖤
Love you,
Dena
What an original, and delightful, pumpkin tree! Pure magic.
That makes me so happy and excited for you — seriously — pumpkins growing up and hanging in a tree? (!!) Only this kind of wonder and bewitching magic could happen at your place.
Regarding Halloween – you know me, always 100% and 365 days a year — it’s my fave time and holiday, ever. I am setting up my Dept 56 Halloween village by the end of the month and last night I was online buying Sp0oKy supplies. I can’t wait to decorate the porch and yard again this year. Yaaaaaay!
Good Morning… very cool at 7:30 a.m. To be exact…. 54 you are oh so right Autumn is on it’s way, you can even smell it in the air. I love it. Don’t get me wrong, I love, love summer but autumn is my favorite. Trees are just beginning to turn, you know, just the edges of the leaves, you have to look for the change. Love your wishing tree. It looks as though Mr. Tree can bring up his roots and walk away to another part of your yard. I love all it’s pumpkins and branches. It truly is a wishing tree. Wishing is fun but beware don’t over wish….
Great post Miss Vanessa.
I love your term “volunteers.” Before you I would never had thought of that.
The green pumpkin with the orange stripe is fantastic! Magical! I am sure I have never seen one ripen in that fashion.
Sadly, our stores have not begun to offer Halloween items, but then school only started a couple days ago. Unlike those that began in August, we have county fair over Labor Day and kids would be skipping school if it did start.
That is not to say I don’t have boxes and boxes of Halloween goodies to begin playing with, to get into the mood.
My last blog post was about a new discovery – my favorite old Halloween tv episodes can often be found online! Another fun way to relax and be entertained.
Those pumpkins in your tree are amazing! What a gift for you, a lover of pumpkins, at this time. Something to marvel at. A message of hope.
I had “volunteer” morning glorys this year. Didn’t plant them, but they grew and covered everything – hydrangeas, ornamental grasses, ugly wires. So lovely, and quite amazing here in the Northeast.
Glad to see you’ve been keeping busy with such fun things. Busy is good.
Only you would have something this magical happen right outside your window! AMAZING….and perfect! I wish for a happy Fall….for both of us! Sweet hugs!
Oh my goodness, this is amazing, love, love the vines!!!!
How incredible!Marvelous! Did I understand right though, all those Yellow cream things also hanging from the tree are Moth worms-I couldn’t handle that :/ but the pumpkins hanging high in the tree is a wonder to behold-Love Denise
I knew the Angels would do something special for you, with many thanks to the Earth Goddess too. Blessings
OH no, that would be horrible 😉 haha! Actually, the yellow cream things hanging from the tree are mesquite beans, the tree makes bean pods that can be turned into mesquite bean flour 😉
Imagine if I had 10 million moths, how positively Halloweenie freaky, hahaa!!
Okay, now you officially live in a dream garden…….pumpkins growing high up in the trees!!?? This is magic, Vanessa!! Pure magic!!! But, oh dear….if one were to suddenly fall from it’s vine!! eeeek! Do you ever hear them fall!? Or find pumpkin smoosh!? Thank You for this bit of wonder for my afternoon!!! I always know where to find such loveliness thanks to You!! : )
What else could we expect from you ! The most divine, enchanting, pumpkin tree in all the land…what a wonderful delight you have shared with all of us, truly a gift to behold. There is always magic swirling around and around you !
We can truly feel it can’t we ? It’s almost here, yeah…HALLOWEEN !
Love your wishing tree and the pumpkins..Truth be told , it’s probably wishing that somebody would get all that extra weight off of it’s branches..Vines can do major damage to trees…Hope it’s OK..Cool look though..Love the stripes and the pumpkins on your typewriter..I’m ready for fall and Halloween…
There you be, Vanessa Sweet! I was truly duly considering stickin’ my head right through this computer in an attempt to find ye. I was hoping you were doing well, and now here you are. Yay!
How fun to stand under that Wishing Tree, playing “I spy a pumpkin” and “I spy a gourd”!
I am getting a hankering to get some chrysanthemums for out-of-doors fall beautification. We are still hovering around the 100 degree mark, though, so I’m wonderin’ if I should wait a bit!
I am waving b-a-a-a-a-c-k at you, Vanessala! : )
So lovely! But now I want to run out and buy striped stockings! Love your little world in pics.
Missy, I was worried about that too actually. But my Mister says the
tree is so strong, it wont hurt it a bit, I hope hes right 😉

In a message dated 9/6/2013 3:30:20 P.M. US Mountain Standard Time,
We rode our horses towards morning dawn,
Light was spreading like a yawn.
There yonder was some green,
An oasis in the desert it seemed.
Orange orbs catchung light,
Fluttering our eyes at the sight.
In matina a flaming tree,
Glowing globes a calling out to see.
Wind swept dreams did appear,
Inviting us ever so near.
A gypsy tent glowing too,
Selling wishes with tickets blue.
Our horses we tied outside the gate,
Then met 2 furs who were balancing plates.
Full of the most gorgeous tarts, true.
Then out of the tree an owl flew.
With baskets of goodies and treats for 2.
Ohhhh, the tree glowing globes in morning light,
The gypsy man playing music with his dancing tea serving wife.
Behind the curtains she disappeared,
And a piano sang that induced magical tears.
Our wishes made reall while floating along,
To the music playing a wishing song.
A dream, a wish, a flaming orbed tree,
They were thankful for this to feel so free.
Back on their horses they rode on,
Forever remebering this special dawn.
Oh “who Hooo” said the owl.

Wow…so you have a Halloween Tree!!! I am jealous! What a wonderful place. Looking forward to the Halloween Party!
Autumn Blessings,
Mario
Dearest Dear Vanessa,
As usual, magic is happening in your world again! What an amazing thing it is to see how that lovely mesquite tree is making such a welcoming place to grow for the gourds, pumpkins, passionfruit and butterflies!!!! And I’m very amazed to learn about making flour from mesquite! I was fascinated by all the flowers, trees and cactus that I saw the one time I got to visit in Arizona! Just beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your world with us once again!
I am very excited to see Halloween-time is coming around once again!! I’m not a real fan of autumn, but Halloween makes it all worthwhile!!!!
Wishing you a most lovely weekend,
Betty
