Where paths might begin…

On this little parcel of land, in this hidden little garden, in a made up world of all that is enchanting and magical, there are vast rewards…

Gypsy bath 1

Rewards for what you ask?  Rewards for cleaning your room, rewards for organizing your closet, rewards for your inner child being extra good.

Gypsy bath 2

What kind of rewards?  Tin buckets full of rewards, depending on the completed tasks of course.  For instance, for boxing up trinkets and treasures that are in the way, for a total of 5 boxes you get…

One bucket full.

Gypsy bath 5

To use as you wish…

Gypsy bath 3

How about in the Gypsy Garden you say?  Oh, I do agree…

Gypsy bath 4

Garden Bliss.  Isn't that what they call it?

Gypsy bath 10

Gypsy bath 11

Breathe in – Fresh Lavender and mint too…

Gypsy bath 9

Is this too much?

Gypsy bath 8

Nahhhh….

Gypsy bath 7

It feels like a good day to follow a passion, a dream, a desire that seems unattainable…

Gypsy bath 6

Is there something on your list, that you want to do for yourself, that you keep putting on the back burner?

Gypsy bath 12

Maybe today is a good day to start taking tiny steps towards making whatever that thing is, a reality…

Gypsy life18

Yes, I do believe today might be that day.  I'll begin my path in the Gypsy Garden.  What about you?  After-all, a thought is truly where it all begins…

🖤,V

  1. I have definitely put my life on hold these past few months so I will take your words to heart…and gaze at your photos again for inspiration. Happy May, dear heart!

  2. I love the surreal-ness of the photos!
Hmm… I’m following my dreams with big stompy steps right now but maybe there are dreams I’ve almost forgotten I had…

  3. i realized this week that i have forgotten how to be totally and freely creative. i am taking the steps to reunite with that part of myself.
my path today… chinese lanterns and crepe paper flowers over the bed.

  4. Katherine says:

vanessa, thank you so much for the sweet blog comment! i have always felt if you can dream it, you can do it (which leads to me jumping in head first and biting off more than i can chew. oh, well…), but there are times when even i feel it would be easier to give up and just take the path of least resistance. you are a constant source of inspiration and a reminder that a perfect, sterile life is not for me! flaws and heartache and missteps are the things that make us beautiful.
your property SO makes me want to pack up the little rascal and head for the hills…
i hope your weekend is wonderful!

  5. Kylee Ward says:

    V~
My path led me to lemon cupcakes and an afternoon of reading…..a wonderful combination (sigh)
Have a fabulous day Miss Vanessa!!
    Kylee

  6. Sarah says:

Art and wherever it may lead! Over the last year that is what has been taking over my life again like it used to when I was younger. You are one of my inspirations so thank you!
As for that bath-it looks lovely. THe best bath I ever had was outside when we were having the bathroom done and only had the old bath out the back. It was starry and warm-magical!

  7. michelle says:

So lovely… Let’s see, maybe I will pull out the canvas I started a million years ago of my family and work on it after the kiddos go to bed…

  8. Kris says:

    Vanessa,
Well, does cleaning out your garage and re-organizing it count? Because that is what I finished up today.
Tonite, I will surely sit and rest and read and be still!
    Kris

  9. michelle says:

    Hi Vanessa,
A lovely and enchanting post as always! I will be putting on my ocean waves cd tonight, lighting some candles and open my journal and I am going to list all of the creative dreams I have been meaning to get out of my head and into the light of day! thanks for your inspiration!
    Michelle 🙂

  10. Shell says:

A bucket full of flowers sounds lovely. Does buying fresh new clothes count as a reward? I hope so cause I needed some new pretty clothes. Especially a sexy Red blouse I got to enchant all the men.

  11. I’ve been good and did 35 minutes of aerobics. Now I can stop here and dream about what I want to do next. But, first you have to tell me if you know what the light pink flowers are called. We have a patch that volunteered in our garden this year. Maybe they came all the way here from your garden because they knew it was too far for you to drive your golf cart?!

  12. rochambeau says:

    YES!!
    V.V.
    I will!! I will.
    I will clean my studio!!!!!!!!
    Because then,
After that I can get my bucket of flowers.
I will wish upon a star that I can take my bath in the back yard!!
    WELL,
A girl can dream, can’t she?
    Xox
    Constance

  13. gillian says:

    Oh bliss.
    To be in your garden!!!
Rose petals in the tub!!!! I need a bucket load of flowers.
I was just commenting about makeup to Constance and then come here to find that you and I are bathers like Cleopatra too!!!
    Whhhooot!
    xo

  14. icantsew says:

do you have esp?? guess what, my tiny step forward is happening all thanks to the gorgeous linda from lilly cottage/kiss noises. she has asked for a small consignment (not sure if that is the right word) of 10 brooches: 5 kokeshi doll and 5 babushka doll. she will place them in her shop! imagine if they sell!!! i will be living my dream if only a tiny percentage 🙂
    thanks for a wonderful post

such good medicine, your words. thank you for the little nudge. and that bath looks inviting! bliss soup! btw, not sure you recall my rose drama, but one of them is now covered w/new roses. so forgiving. the other two are still mad. i will continue coaxing. :o)

  19. carolee says:

What an enchanting post! A thought is indeed where it begins. I feel as though I begin a new path every day…paints, brushes, clay, wood, canvas, paper, crystals….endless possibility, and never enough time to realize it all!
I must admit I love the idea of taking time out for a little pampering though…I don’t do that nearly enough. I plan a trip to Borders this afternoon…and perhaps later a bit of reading or knitting. Not terribly exciting, but definitely relaxing. 🙂
    Wishing you a magical Sunday!
    ~ Carolee

  20. shibori girl says:

The gypsy in your soul is calling to me, dear Missy. I believe my path begins at my door and ends at yours! I must have a rose petal bath in your outdoor mansion! OR maybe I should find my own country shackling with my own backyard boudoir? 😀
Happy rose-filled Sunday to you Sweetie,
    xoxo,
    Kate

  21. marjorie says:

I love your gypsy garden…..and those darling slippers!!! OH where oh where did you find them!? In Little Women, Jo March land!?? love love love!! 🙂
    Lovely weekend wishes to you!!

  22. deborah says:

I LOVE the photos of the flowers floating in the bath…a dream series. Photos 8 and 9 feel as if I’m looking down from heaven…petals floating on milky clouds. Peaceful. Complete. Calm. The faries in my garden would like their cousins to come today and play among the Dwarf Lilies of the Nile. **blows kisses** Deborah

  23. devil mood says:

Oh wow, I feel like I’m in the tub already. It looks divine with those surroundings. I will have a proper bath soak, I have salts waiting for it, but not with such a wonderful scenery to look at.

  24. Oh my! Such an inspiring world of color and creativity here.
    I had to link.
    Peace and beauty,
    Zoey Valentine

  27. Janice says:

I love this blog! THis is just what I need! Today I have been weeding out my cozy apt of gold purses, moonstone baubles, little blue flats, red dragons, silver hoops and have been wrapping them up and sending them to places all over the globe. I also will tackle the closet mercilessly- keeping only what I wear. Now thats a challenge. But all this aside, I adore your message and am soaking in the inspiration like crazy. I will definitely be back around…and so admire your gift for fantasy!

  28. Amy says:

Oh I love the photos. The flowers are so wonderful :]
Ah and so often I put things I want to do off…I need to start acting!
Everytime I visit your blog I get these spurts of happy smiles from all the blissful imagery <3

  29. ylva says:

oh, suddenly i have a lot of catching up to do. among your posts (but that’s a fun kind of catching up 😉 ) and around me. taht list is just as long as the one of the things i would like to do for myself… one day. i would love for it to be today. or rather tomorrow because it’s far too late now. anyway, inspirational and pretty post as usual.
i’m so sorry about the loss of your aunt. what you have written about her is absolutely beautiful. and… she must have had lovely hands. very skilled ones too, considering what you can create with yours :).
and i love both the frida movie and the soundtrack too. it’s also one of the few things that my beau and i agree on are truly beautiful :).

  30. kris says:

You know all those little jobs you put off and ignore because so many other things seem so much more important? I’m committed to doing those little things this month. Cleaning/organizing those extra things I keep saying I’ll do but never do (but they would be the first thing my mother would notice if she came over? ha) When you accomplish all those little things, then ‘ME TIME’ is guilt free. Amen to that.
P.S. Tried to find you on Facebook but you have a mildly popular name. Are you there?

  31. Mia says:

    oOoo…prettypretty things, so utterly femme, i couldn’t sleep – it’s 4 AM,
but now my dreams will be beautiful.

  32. Melissa! says:

I have to know – did you have a nice soak? Was it dreamy & relaxing & purely divine? It looks dreamy & relaxing & purely divine!

  33. Melissa! says:

I have to ask – did you have a beautiful soak? Was it divinely superb & dreamy?

  34. OohLaLaura says:

    ‘Lo Nessa-
I thought at first all those gorgeous flowers were suspended in SNOW! I was so relieved when I saw that happy, garden spa bath swirling about.
Oh! What project are you starting? What new path are you trotting down? I DO hope you’ll share when it’s gotten underway.
I’ve been making baby steps towards getting my studio up and running. My Mr. Husband made me a work table I’m so happy with—I’ve been putting a bazillion coats of varnish on it so it will be glossy and shiny and smooth. Today I’m going to deal with an old set of storage drawers that are driving me nuts. They’re ‘sticky drawers’, know what I mean? I started attacking the drawer rails with a wood plane yesterday, and my arms are sooooooore. Back to work.
Oh–this is gross, but that bathwater looked TASTY. All milky and flowery and herby. Not that one should drink their own bathwater, but maybe you could come up with a ‘Vanessa Spa Shake’ with milk and honey and lavender and mint and whatnot. Topped with rosepetals.
    Slurp!
    Laura

  35. SueAnn says:

Ahh what treats await me as I awake from this wonderful dream of garden tubs filled with flowers. Oh wait!! I am awake!! How delicious is that??
I am donning my wings and flying to the next project which will bring me loads of rewards…I just know it.
    Hugging you
    SueAnn

  36. The flowers sprinkled in that beautiful bathtub looked like confetti! A bath party!
    What a dream.
Your blog posts always inspire me!

  37. Chris says:

Oh, You are SO right! I have begun, and it makes all the difference.
    What a pretty post!

  38. stephanie says:

  39. LuLu says:

I actually did something for myself today…I took a long bubble bath and ate those little orange marshmallow circus peanuts in the tub whilst drinking a diet Pepsi! (Naughty LuLu)
The diet Pepsi x’d out all the calories from the circus peanuts, right? *sheepish look*
    LuLu~*xoxo

  40. chelsea Ann says:

oh this has me dreaming, but sadly only that. I am already making excuses in my head for why this or that indulgence can not be so… although in general and as a norm I think I spoil myself perhaps a bit too much and maybe just maybe I have lost that magic, or the feeling you get when you know this is an absolutely naughty moments. Or maybe I am wrong and if you don’t feel that way you aren’t indulging enough? Whatever it is, I know I am blessed. I have been rambling haven’t I? Oh dear well maybe it made perfect sense or maybe none. Oh but I do wish I could have that bubble bath right about now than what I’m going to be dragging myself to do tonight. It’s hubby’s turn to pick the movie and I’m bring my sewing along. It’s going to not be my kind of night. LOL Hope you have been well!
    Chelsea Ann

  41. Terisa says:

I’m on my way to Texas next week.
Since I will have completed altering a wedding dress that had a built in bust the size that your Mr.Fawn would have recognized and another that I have had to figure how to “creativly” figure out how she could fit her tush into as the weight did not come off in ALL the right places…I am sooooo ready to be pampered! So I’ll be stopping by now that I see the photos of your “Day Spa”!

  42. Kristin says:

This is a great inspiring post! Thanks so much for the inspiring and creative thoughts and words. It’s definately time to make it happen for me since my main income is gone now!
I love the flowers in the suds, too. So relaxing and dreamy all at the same time.
