The key to all wealth is…

Yes, we have all heard it before.  Or maybe you didn’t hear this over and over, "The key to all wealth is a savings account."  I know dad, I know, but, there were these giant mushrooms, and I had all these coins saved in my cookie jar and and and….  Brigitte, the Littlest Pierrot made me do it!

Then of course, there were those other treasures I just had to have, and then… Oh I can hear my dad now, again, "Save your money kid."  Oh golly, don’t tell him that I spent the rag money on shrooms! Please!!! (hahaha)  Oh wait, I am a big kid with no parental supervision, Yeeehawww, Yippeeee. You mean, It’s my very own rag money?  Oh yay, I can do whatever I want with it you say? Okay, I’ll take ten more. hee heeeee…..  The man at the shop said, "Wow, you are buying really weird stuff."  Umm, Mister, it’s your shop.  You bought it first. Hahaha.

And while I was at it, I visited small stump… Another Fungilicious purchase!!

You all know how I adore the Fungi.  However, I have some precious fungi creations of my own being cooked right now.. Clay, in the kiln! Ya, that’s right.  Let’s hope they live through the process, so my shop can get some more treats…  It only seemed appropriate to bring more fungi treats in to live with me…

Oh have you been over to Thrify Goodness??? She sells such fun things… Scroll down in her shop & take a peek…

I still have Fungi girls in the, A Fanciful Twist shop too, don’t forget to visit them, and tell them how well behaved they are….

Back to ponder the madness & to head out to the pottery studio. As I am already running late….Here is a snippet of some of what I am up too….

Img_0468

I have been getting sooo many calls about the paper dress creations… Questions like, will I have many at the show, can they come for a sneak peek, will I make more… I guess that is a sign that I better keep making them?

Good thing I have a stack started…. Off to work in dark red clay…

See you soon!!!! 😉

  1. Marjorie says:

Aahahhh!!! Those fungi!! Those giant mushrooms are SO wonderful!! Now I want to make some paper mache ones for my living room!! I think you’ve got me started!! And I might have to order some of those cute little mushrooms, too…I think they would look perfectly woodlandy on an 1880’s bonnet….don’t you!!?? My husband always says “why do you like mushrooms so much!?”….well…they are cute, for one….and remind me of sea creatures and woodland magic all at once! 🙂 And I am rather in love with your new deer man painting…..I wish I could see your show in person!! 🙂
and I’m so happy my little Brigitte gets to play in your magic house!! 🙂
    I love it!!

  2. Ky Eliza says:

Ooooh! The deer man and the paper dress girl! I can’t wait to see them close up!
I was so fond of the Littlest Pierrot when I saw it in Marjorie’s shop; so glad someone so lovely has it…

  3. sarah says:

Where did you get the giant mushrooms? Because I need them. NEED!

  4. Cre8Tiva says:

oh i so want one of the paper dressed ladies too…there was one i really wanted a while back…but she was gone before i got to her…i know these will sell like crazy…blessings, rebecca

  5. Karen Beth says:

Love the mushrooms! Those are so adorable and so YOU!

  6. Leslie Marsh says:

The mushrooms are nice, but those paper dress ladies are to die for! I’m getting in line now.

  7. phyllis says:

Oh don’t go Curiosa I was just getting all happy that you were here! But I understand clay fungi’s don’t wait and there are pennies to gather. Daddys are so valuable…you can’t really put a price on them and they aren’t forever either.

  8. sadira says:

Holy Fungi twist-girl…those giant mushrooms are fantastic! OH…I just love them…I swear I would put them in the middle of my living room…and then I would sit under them…use them to prop up my pillows so I could read my books…
and I would wear striped stockings and my new wool shoes that I will be getting on Sunday…
why do things look so much better bigger?! I have a LARGE brown plastic easter bunny that looks just like chocolate that I put in the window of the shop for Easter…he is delicious…

  9. Joy says:

Ummm, what’s that I see in there amongst the mushrooms – a large lock with lots of skeleton keys? Love it!
Had to laugh about the shop owner’s comment. Perhaps when he bought it he thought someone really weird would buy it – like some decrepit old man – not the fabulous Vanessa Valencia! 😉

  10. designflute says:

    “Umm, Mister…You bought it first.”
    hey funny bone,
I love Your fungi girls! Been to your shop few days ago and love quite a lot(going to mail u soon)

  11. Chantal says:

Sweet Vanessa, I can always count on your blog for some laughter! That shop owner surely bought those shrooms first, didn’t he?!! The way I picture you house, it must feel like an Aladdin’s Cave full of whimsical creations and art, right? Please tell us more about your new paintings. They look fabulous. A ballerina dancing with a King Stag… I love it!

  12. thankyou for my note- it came today on my birthday- put on your party cloths and fly to australia and share my birthday cake…la la la…..love jo…. now do you have a dolls house…..just asking…

  13. cd&m says:

Oh how I love your paper dress creations…..

  14. Wende says:

    Vanessa,
Thank you so much for all the support and love on and about Thrifty Goodness. It means so much. YOU ROCK, darling. 😀

  15. Erin Earls says:

I love to see what you are up too. You know my love for Fungi! These are too cute! If you get a sec, send me your address so I can get your little gift you.
    Love Erin~

  16. Christa Z. says:

Oh, those enormous moosh mooshrooms, I am so envious. They are delightful, just to imagine a little tea party underneath them…and to top it all off with your newest paintings, very nice. Keep up the delightful work.

  17. lori says:

I’m quite a fungi lover myself. Anything small and weird that grows in the forest…I just can’t get enough. And it’s no wonder your paper ladies are getting so much attention; they are incredible!!!
    xxoo

  18. cherie says:

Definitely more of the paper skirts…they are fantastic!!
I’m still laughing at the guy in the shop critiquing your “weird” purchases and you thinking…he bought them first so what was HE thinking!!! ROFL!!!

  19. The mushrooms are fantastic! Perfect for sitting under and eating a smashed jello sandwich!
And I think that deer boy and the beautiful maiden are my Favorite! Simply Deliciously Wonderful!
    Sandra Evertson

  20. shell says:

Yes, yes. I don’t hear my Dad in my head – my family was never that great at saving. But my partner is a real saver and barely spends anything and every time I buy something I hear him saying “what do you need that for?”. I’m like “I don’t *need* it, I *want* it.” Then I proceed to buy it as he rolls his eyes. I figure that he doesn’t spend our money so someone has too! I’ve even booked overseas trips for us because it would probably pain him too much to depart with the dough – once I’ve done it he can’t reneg – hahah!!!!
Honestly, he’s much better than he used to be and well, so am I. I’m very selective on my shopping trips now. I have a weakness for handbags and jewellry (even though I don’t wear much!) though.
But those shrooms would have had me enchanted and reaching for the hip-pocket, no doubt. I understand entirely!
Can’t wait to see your clay creations!

  21. Vanessa you old fun guy! Hee hee
I don’t know who does your cleaning but wow…you must pay through the nose to have all those trinkets of yours shined and polished! I looked at a large foam toadstool the other day. It was in my daughter’s Brownie catalog. I declined. I didn’t like it, it lacked pizzazz. It was a simple little brown number, about a foot and a half tall. Your’s is so, zany, crazy, kooky. Well worth it I would imagine!
    xo
    Gillian

  22. Nancy says:

Miss Vanessa! How could you!?! You taunt us with glimpses of beautiful dancing paper dress girls that will soon be off to new homes….and none of them will be ours! Well, unless someone here is close enough to go to the show. Hmmmm….$2,000 for airfare from CT. to AZ., $10,000 in drugs to get me on the plane, another $5,000 in drugs if I’m still on the plane when it takes off, buying up all your beautiful art work that I can possibly afford? Priceless! 😉
All your fantastic mushrooms need is a cheshire cat! I love them!!

  23. Rose says:

    I love the paper ladies!!!
    They are my favorite~
    Oh dark red clay yea!!!!!!!!!!

  25. Darling girl, I hate mushrooms(to eat) but these are fabulous – I like this kind, the fun, red with white polka dot kind. The kind fairies sit on and that you don’t have to eat!
As to your newest work….GIRL…there goes that lack of adjectives again. Remarkable….incredible…spectacular…oh girl, how I adore you and your imagination!

  32. Paris Parfait says:

Darling V, the giant mushrooms are adorable! The shop owner’s comment is funny – he should be thrilled you were buying all that and be searching his imagination – and his storeroom – for more goodies with which to entice you. And your paintings in progress are looking good! You astonish me with your productivity, in the midst of all the chaos. xoxoxo
