Some days are for…

Sometimes, you have to just throw sanity into the wind…

And listen to a big bowl of treasures…

Gypsy fun 12

Beckoning.

Let's play, let's play.

Dress up time.

Let's play.

I have sort of embraced my natural air dried wavy hair.

I still like to blow dry it straight sometimes.

But, letting it air dry is so much easier.

And working from home, you don't really get dolled up like the days of heels and offices.

That was fun, I loved that about work.  Dressing up.

So, now it's a treat to put on 10 layers of mascara and jewels.

So, out came the mascara wand.

And lipsticks…

At least we get to have some sort of wand in life.

And one for eyelashes does seem quite like magic!?

Gypsy fun 1

Don't forget the head scarf.

I have never plucked or waxed my eyebrows ever.

Random fact.

Do you?

My friend said thinner eyebrows make you look younger.

But I am too terrified to change my brow as such 🙂

Gypsy fun 2

Next is the best part, playing with jewels.

(oh, a story on the colorful ring below.  I got it for $65 dollars at a shabby antique store a decade ago.  When I took it home, I showed it to Lovee who checked it with his jewelers loop (he comes from a jeweler family) and found the "crystals" to be actual diamonds.  It was so exciting!)

Gypsy fun 3

It was a perfect day to try on endless jewels and have a little fun.

Gypsy fun 5

The sun was warm, and the cool breeze billowed in, tossing the window sheers about.

I love that dreamy feeling.

Gypsy fun 6

I stacked fun upon fun…

And then hung it from my ears.

Oh my!

Gypsy fun 7

What to choose??

Gypsy fun 8

Then it was time for shoes.

The boys know when I am getting dressed to go somewhere.

They go bonkers, running around and jumping in circles.

But this time, they didn't.

How did they know I wasn't going to go out with coins on my head?

(a few years ago I was a full on gypsy for a party, but first met people for late lunch, and the entire restaurant just stared at me like I was insane, it was horrible and hilarious.  People can be so square, haha!)

Gypsy fun 4

Miles snuggled into me as I was putting on shoes, looking at me quizzically.

Umm, hello?  Why are you dressed like that?

Gypsy fun 10

It's boring.

Let's go outside and chase rabbits.

(Yaaaaawn)

Gypsy fun 11

Okay, he won.

I went out with the pups to run in circles as day turned to evening.

We always have tomorrow.

Gypsy fun 13

Or do we?

Do we have tomorrow to wait to have a little fun???

What if we pretended there is no tomorrow?

What would we do today?

What would you want to be your last life experience?

Besides hugging and kissing those you love?

I think we should make a list and choose one.

Then do it, this week?

Just one.

What would I do….. thinking thinking thinking…

What about you?

Love, V

Sparkly heart

  1. You have such pretty jewels…enough to share if I come by to play? I would do some of the same things. I just got back from the library and walking at the park for 45 minutes! I feel wonderful now! Sweet hugs!

    Hi Vanessa!
I love your dressing up sessions. You have such a lovely selection of jewels. I think you may have even more jewellery than me! I have a lot-I am a sucker for anything sparkly, or turquoise, and oh so many more jewellery likes. But I don’t get the chance to wear much of it much of the time. I have a lovely box full of beautiful old brooches. maybe I should have a day when I just wear them all! I only plucked my eyebrows once-one eyebrow hair. It hurt and then gave me a spot where it had been plucked from. Never again! People go in for threading a lot here which I think comes from India. But as far as I am concerned it is still pulling hairs out by their routes and that hurts!
Not sure what I would do if tomorrow was my last day. Not waste it on petty bureaucracy at work that is for sure. Although I like going out I think I like being at home best so would probably just do that. Not very exciting but still! xx

I see nothing wrong with dressing like a gypsy to go to a restaurant, those people are fools! I think in the Summer I’ll be a bit more bohemian, got to admit in -35 sweatshirts and sweatpants are the only thing that gets me going to class every morning at 730! Spring break is next week, I’m thinking there will be days of staying inside covered in paint and clay too!

  4. Sarah,
I think you should put all your brooches on a jean jacket or something, like I used to wear in the 80’s. Just cover it completely!!!!
    You are so fab!
    xoxoxo

  5. Weren’t they so square? Silly people, ain’t never seen a gyspy before, haha! 🙂

  6. Of course, I would share like crazy 🙂

  7. laura says:

Hmm, what would I do? I don’t know! That is a really hard question! Tomorrow we are forecast for a boatload of snow. I can’t wait and hope to spend part of the day playing in the snow. I haven’t done that since my doggie passed over three years ago. He loved the snow and we would play for hours.
I need to institute dress up day. Since I rarely go anywhere, I pretty much live in my yoga pants and sleep shirt. Dress up day would be fun!

ps…hugs & kisses to Matty and Miles!

I love the one with real diamonds…you should just wear it daily!
If I knew it was my last day, I’d go out and buy funeral favors for hubby to give the people who come. All the ladies will get a bottle of Juicy Couture b/c that is my scent. The guys? hmm…probably a tire pressure checker or a flashlight 😀

  9. OMG Phyllis, do people really do that? ….funeral favors? Love it and I’m leaving instructions for the same thing. That will be number 4 on my list of instructions.
Juicy Couture is my scent too.

  10. Miss Linda says:

I love glittery and sparkly jewelry and it’s oh so fun to pretend. Nothing wrong with that. I always say…Live for today for it might be your last, one day at a time. Right now I’m looking for the sun…haven’t seen it in a while…Looking, looking and looking again. have you seen it?
    I love all your jewelry…so much fun…

  11. Hello Vanessa!
Very cute post. I just cleaned up my closet and tried many things on myself.
The flower bracelet you’re wearing….the purple/magenta one…what type of stone is that? It’s so pretty.
    Have a great day! Deborah

  12. Ooo, fun!! In person that one is a bit more pink, its a ruby
bracelet. I need to wearit more often me thinks 😉

I love that the jewelry you brought turned out to be real diamonds!!! Sometime people are so limited in their thinking about fashion. I’m sure you look absolutely fabulous.

  14. Irina says:

Seize the day…always seize the day! :))) You are the expert on that, you really are…
Dear Vanessa, you always make me smile and bring tons of inspiration to my day…and every photo of Miles or Matty makes me want to jump through that monitor and give them a kiss and a squeeze!!!
I love playing dress-up, especially with make-up and jewelry…haha…why not?!
That mutli-jem ring is gorgeous…what a fun surprise that it holds diamonds…
And I LOOOVE those shoes! I think we need to have an official Gypsy day once a month…where everyone dresses up as such…maybe we could start a movement… :)))
Wishing you a BLISSFUL Valentine’s Day, magical Vanessa…
    Lots of LOVE,
    – Irina

  15. Kristie says:

    Vanessa,
What pretty jewels! I love large rings but my hands are so small that when I put one on it takes up my whole finger. LOL I love all the shiny stones, they are so sparkly, colorful and FUN.
Humm, if I had to decide on what I would do if there was no tomorrow what would it be…..I think it would be to cram as many of the things that I love to do all in one day. LOL (which would fill the entire day). Planting flowers, working in the dirt, kissing my lovey, re-arranging my favorite items in the house( which I do quite often) and breathing in the fresh air while taking my last walk around the Bay. Yep, that would do it! 😉

  16. Ooooooh, pretty trinkets and those gypsy shoes made my heart rate go sky-high! Gorgeous accessories all around and pretty you, too. 🙂

  17. Oh, to raid your jewelry box! Miles needs a scarf, don’t you think?
