Psst! Come quick, before I change my mind (I won’t, I promise). I have a story for you – of the Imaginary variety, with something for you perhaps…

You see, I can be a very very greedy girl.  Especially when it comes to love and voyages, and tales of a world, over and under, and through the sea.  A girl holding such tales, came to me, and now she will go to one of… Ye?

So, there I was, minding my own business, when I felt a tug on my sleeve.  A lovely Irish accent spoke…  Hello, kind lady, she said to me.  My name is Evangeline…

She had very long legs, and rosy round cheeks… A beautiful dress, wore she…

Evang_1_2

She was lost you see.  She had lived for many years in a great big house in Ireland, hundreds of years old.  With her Uncle Romeo Byron McGinnis, and her Aunt Polly Doreen McGinnis.  They lived in this huge house on a vast section of rolling green hills, where the sound of waves crashing could be heard all day, and all night…

Evang_2

Sadly, when her Aunt and Uncle passed away, the house seemed too big for her.  So she made herself a little world in the great big beautiful attic, way at the top of the 6 story house.  She lived very cozy up there.  She made herself a fluffly bed in a large suitcase.

One day while she was sleeping, movers came and took everything out of the house.  And shipped many of the possessions, including Evangeline in her suitcase, to America…  Where she lived cooped up in a very hot attic for years and years…

To amuse herself, Evangeline would dream all day, as she gazed into a very old mirror…

Evang_9

She dreamed of living in a lovely home, once again.  With people to talk to, and have tea with.  With people who loved her…

Evangeline would get so bored in the attic, that she would stack furniture up very high, just for fun…

Evang_5

How she longed for a bed, just her size.  To sprawl out in and drift off.  Her longing made her desperate to find a home.  Perhaps with you?

Evang_8

Evang_6

Evangeline has many great stories…  She spent so much time alone in that attic, that she became well versed in many a great things she learned from books…

She especially liked to amuse herself with the unusual…

Evang_3

Evangeline has an uncanny gift, for making all sorts of stories come to life…  She loves Marc Chagall, and spent a great many years, making his paintings come to life in her mind…

Evang_12

Perhaps, we can fulfill her dreams.  Do you have a lovely warm home, where Evangeline might be loved??

If you can fulfill that wish, I think I might be able to help her see a Chagall piece come to life…

So, Evangeline and I await patiently, to see if any one will put their name down to adopt her.  You see, she found me at the Golden Goose, today.  And, begged me to help her with this grand endeavor, of finding a home…

So, if you would like to give her a home, simply leave a comment…  I will draw a name on Monday, and whoevers name I pick, shall receive charming, Evangeline…

Evangeline waits patiently…

Evang_4

Have a lovely weekend!!

Here are some photo bloopers for ya…  I don’t think I quite fit in the super teeny tiny mirror…  Silly Me! And make-upless, Eeek!

See ya super duper sooooon!!!

ps:  I have decided that everytime I go on a thriftventure, I have to bring something back to giveaway.  In order to spread the thriftventure love.  What do you think???

pps:  Don’t worry, I won’t change my mind about Evangeline going to a new home 😉

Lovely, lovely, LOVELY! Your imagination blows me away!

  4. Karen Young says:

Vanessa, Poor little Evangeline, she really needs to come and live at my house, she would have some new best friends and a couple of fur babies who would protect her from being locked up in a suitcase again.
I just got back from vacation and have been catching up. Love your imaginative posts.
    Karen

  5. Bobbi Jo Nichols says:

    Vanessa,
I think Evangeline should come live with me. I have loving daughters who would talk with her but not touch other than to bring her lovely flowers and little trinkets they would make.
There are very few thrift stores here. I wish there were more.
Who ever has Evangeline to live with them at their home I hope she is very happy with them. Have fun dear sweet Vanessa!

  6. trina says:

oh dear vanessa, that is a wonderful idea for thrifting adventures. 🙂 Theresa and I have been stockpiling a little bit and were thinking of opening a little etsy vintage shop but maybe some of it will have to be for giveaways to. 🙂 Oh and if by chance you draw my name please, please choose another. i can honestly say poor Evangeline would find it cramped here.

  7. The whole time I was reading I thought you’d been to your grandparents attic and I kept thinking “oh no she wouldn’t give something from that away”. silly me.
A very cute find and a sweet idea to share something from your treasure hunts. I love the adorable stacking of furniture and of course your imagination in general. Tomorrow is another flea market so I’ll be on the hunt again as well. Wish you were here!
    XOXOXO

  8. RD says:

Evangeline would be so welcome into our family. We collect things and animals and such who make it very clear that they must be part of our craziness. Come on over, Evangeline!

  9. Martha says:

Awww…Evangeline is so sweet. And she lived with the McGinnis-es??!! Well, that is my mom’s family name…woweee! Anyway, she would sure be loved here!! :o)

  10. Oh my, what a lovely story and what a charming girl. She sounds like she could use a very happy home with someone who she could share her stories with like my granddaughter Isabella. She turns (3) Sunday and can tell some pretty wonderful stories herself. They would make a charming pair and I assure you that Isabella would take her in her for walks in her stroller daily.
    Love your Blog!!!
    Kris

  11. Andria says:

Evangeline has such a fascinating history. Does she like birds? Because I now have 7 (fabric) birds hanging out on my window sill. I think she might like it there.

  12. Kat says:

I wish I could sew, I would love to make a doll like this. I love the look of her hand-drawn & painted face… plus her boots are marvelous! I hope she finds a loving home.

  14. Caf says:

Oh I want IN this draw!
I think she’ll like it here, I have furniture that she can stack as much as she likes 🙂

  15. Judy says:

My attic has become my workshop for giving classes…I am thinking Evangeline would be a great help up there….it is quite cozy and there are lots of baubles and kaboddles to play with. She will feel right at home, only she will have lots of companions to keep her company! A proper home indeed! Love your stories….Judy

  16. stephanie says:

    Evangeline’s feet photo…..the best!

  17. *~KRiSTa~* says:

I have a bed just big enough for dear Evangeline at my home here..though many of us want to adopt her, only one will get the honors of taking her home. I know whoever she goes to will take care of her! She’s darling. Oh, and she can stack furniture all she wants here; I’m always rearranging things!
…and those thriftventure giveaways? Of course that sounds splendid! (Who doesn’t love a giveaway?) You’re too kind.

  18. babelfish says:

Evangeline is adorable (I love her upper arm) 🙂 I heart your photography : stacking furniture? why not?!…I’m sure she’ll find a wonderful new home, you’re too sweet to send her on her way.

  19. Grrl+dog says:

See… Evangeline had Irish convict great great great
grandparents, and they were transported to sydney Cove, where they became free settlers after serving their term. Evangeline secretly longs to return to her ancestral country, and live with grrl+dog, who are also distant relatives from Limerick.

  20. rochambeau says:

    What A Divine tale.

I think that is a fantastic idea and actually … umm … I would really like to steal it from you! I bring SO many treasures home, maybe not right for me but for somebody else?

  23. shiborigirl says:

I have a lovely overstuffed chair that is JUST Evangeline’s size… and it’s EMPTY!
You told her story quite beautifully.
The video was very charming – I love Chagall’s work – especially after seeing the Chagall Museum in Nice, FR. Nothing like seeing it up close and personal.
    Happy Day,

  30. 3rdEyeMuse says:

I imagine that Miss Evangeline must be feeling pretty popular right about now and it is very clear that she’s going to be showered with lots of love wherever she may roam. 🙂 Thanks, lovely V of the most funfilled fancilful twists!

  31. If I do adopt her, it will be only for a little while and then I will post her for someone else to adopt!!! tee hee Wouldn’t that be FUN?!!! I was thinking of love letters too last week sweet gal! and when I saw a pinwheel on a commercial, WHO did it remind me of?!!! YOU! Vanessa V!!! 32. Rho says:

vanessa, i love all of your fanciful twists and evangeline is just a darling girl. i do hope she likes using her imagination to created things, because we do alot of that here! i would love to have her share my studio with me, i even have a wonderful little brass bed that is exactly her size. if i am picked, i will have to get it out of it’s box and assemble it while i wait for her to arrive! oh! and make her some special bedding to go with it! whoever is the lucky one to have this darling girl ocme live with them, i know they will enjoy her tremendously! thank you for sharing her story with us!

  33. Emily says:

How sweet! You seriously need to think about being a children’s author. Forget childrens, you make me a 30 yr old become engulfed in your fanciful stories 🙂 I love listening to your stories and so did my daughters Chloe and Annabelle who think that Evangeline needs to come live here.
I think the thrifting idea is a brilliant one, and I can’t wait to see what is next…lol

  34. DeeLight says:

Oh, Evangeline has been had such a hard time of it, but she seems to have such a strong spirit. I would love to offer her a new home with a bed just her size!!

  35. Jenni Jones says:

I think after being in Ireland, then in stuffy attics, Australia would be a lovely place for Evangeline to soak up some warmth and fill her precious lungs with fresh air. I have a very special teddy called Arthur Schmiggle who spends his days lazing away in my work room, watching over me and keeping me company, but when I am not working there, he is alone. I am sure he would love the company and many stories such a travelled lady as Evangeline could share with him. I always ensure that there is a very comfortable place for him to view the world, and I just know he would share everything he has with Evangeline.
Thank you for your incredible posts. You always manage to put a smile on my face, and take me away, to a new enchanted world.

  36. Erin says:

My daughters would love her! I’m sure she will go to a great home, and passing the thrift lover on sounds like fabulous idea!

  37. Donna O. says:

Phew- This post can finally put that nasty rumor to rest. You know which one.
Because of your love with Halloween and such there was talk that you might be link to some long ago lineage of ..shhh….vampires. But we DO see a refection in the mirror so we can safely say the rumor is a myth.
Now what about that werewolf rumor and Mr. Lovee….???
    D.

  38. Cristina says:

Evangeline would feel right at home here at world´s end with us. My daughter Amanda is an expert at hiding in suitcases and she chatters constantly to bored dolls. She can even make (with the aid of her older brother) lovely decorated cupcakes, much like the ones from your colorful tea parties – the ones dolls adore.

  39. Alison Gibbs says:

Evangeline definitely needs to come live with me in Australia – she is just so gorgeous
    Alison

  40. Alexis says:

Evangeline looks real pretty. 🙂 And since I’m the beginings of redecorating my room, I have just the spot for her, if she wishes: an only vintage baby high chair that’s seen many adorable babies sit in it, but now it sits in a corner of my room, just waiting for someone to sit on it and watch over everyone else in the room. 🙂

  41. Suey says:

    Hello Evangeline!
I have a lovely flying-in-the-sky chagall piccy in my kitchen, so you would like it in there.
Do you like monkeys, I have one that would like to meet you!
Perhaps you could write to people when you have your new home, to tell all your new fun times? You must be very excited. I wish you all the luck and love in the world!
    Suey xxx

  42. Moonfairy says:

    What a wonderful story 🙂
Maybe Evangeline wants to come and live with me in Norway? I have a perfect place for her 🙂

  43. If Evangeline wouldn’t mind living with two little dogs we would be happy to make her very comfortable here. We would make her a bed high enough where she could watch everything that goes on and not be afraid of the doggies. Twyla

  44. michelle says:

We went away this weekend and got back late last night. I am so glad I didn’t miss the chance to give Evangeline a home! We have so many lovely girls that are so excited to get a new sister! We will all cross our fingers. You are such a sweetie, thinking of us on your adventures!

  45. Mo'a says:

You have my address…send her on, she will have a lot of friends and furniture to stack.
    I adore her face.

  46. I think she would love my studio and all the secrets and treasures it holds. then she can tea in my garden and visit with my faeries. I love her name, it reminds me of the whimsical colorful movie Nanny McFee.

  47. tinker says:

What an adventurous life Miss Evangeline has led…how I hope she finds a truly happy home…
Thank you for the wee wonderful little movie – I think Chagall would have loved it too!

  48. Abbey says:

Oh I do hope Evangeline comes to live with me…we could have tea everyday as we looked out to the sea and dreamt of sailing far, far away to imaginary islands where we could rule as queens! The Fun We Would Have…

  49. devil mood says:

How I loved seeing your doll next to that Chagall’s painting. One of my favourites.
Oh photo bloppers, you ARE cute 🙂

  50. waterrose says:

what a great thrifty find! I’ve had to put thrifting on hold…since I have so much…traveling all over the city up here at least once a week I can hardly contain myself from just passing by any thrift store!

  51. harmony says:

evangeline would be the perfect gal to inhabit my new home…she could have a room to herself…perhaps the library…where she could read me stories…i would just let her follow me around and help me bake…
she is wonderful…i wish i found wonderful things like her….

  52. Oh I have the perfect spot for Evangeline! She would make such a fine companion for Daisy, our stray cat. Her kittens have gone off to find their own homes so she would love the company!

  53. Dapoppins says:

I agree that you are the dreamy-est story teller ever…I had to go outside and look at the moon and search the stars because of you…and who doesn’t want to be friends with a sweetheart who likes to stack furniture?

  54. Laura says:

Evangeline, Evangeline, where does your heart want to go?
If your drawn to damp and earth,
When the grass is deep and green,
Where the folks are kind spirited and love to dance,
Then pack up your trunk, and head for more Celtic connections in Scotland. I’ll have an irish coffee and soda bread ready for your arrival!

  55. well
    any one who loves
    Marc Chagall
would be at home at my house
    as we
    float our
    way
    through most days
    over here
    🙂
    truly
i have a bed that would fit her
    this enchanting missy.
    ——> a sleigh~bed!

  56. Di Overton says:

I would love to spend a day in your imagination 🙂

  57. scrowlscrowl says:

I simply cannot resist. She’s gorgeous; me love!! 😀

  58. Oh! Evengeline should come live with me. We can admire Marc Chagall’s paintings together!

  59. What a great thing to do. I mean about the thrifting give away. It’s like you get to go again and again so you can give and give. I’m not saying you have to have an excues to give…it’s the excuse to thrift.
Miss Evangeline would be so welcomed. I fear I’m too late though.
    Thank you

  60. Rosebud says:

    Oh, she is quite pretty.
I’m afraid that t would be quite hard to get her to where I am- such a long, tiring journey, even for one with long legs.
But I will post anyways, to thank you for you willing to give her away. Thank you!
    ^_^
