It truly is madness around here. I mean really. No no, really… My real party started yesterday and won’t end until Sunday. Or maybe even Monday…
A bevy of characters have stopped by here and there. Oh, such wonderfully lovely characters. Our music room was beyond happy last night…
Things are a combination of party and party prep, all in one.
Did I mention that it is over 101′ F? So hot. Too hot. Crazy Hot. Hot hot hot!
Melting sour cream, butter, sugar frosting… But oh so gooooood.
Party Birds are finding a cozy spot. Tea cups line the tables, eeeep! Excitement overload 😉

Off to continue my drama cupcake towers and other party prep stuff in this oven weather 😉 Seems that year after year, after summer passes, I forget how hot it actually gets here…

I have this awesome Alice in Wonderland Pop-up book with gardens and rooms and the tea party and the Queens croquet game…I need to have my eighteen year old son take some digital photos…after I set up my glass patio table with decorations, sweets, tons of dolls with their friends for the Mad Tea Party! P.S. My dad was a cameraman for many years for CBS TV. One day he brought home a cake for a Better Crocker commercial. As we started to slice the cake we found tons of toothpicks holding it upright, and at the base a stand with a stick to make sure it didn’t tumble. Ahhhhh the tricks of the trade.

ah it looks so much fun. How I wish to join you all on Saturday. Alas I found the party too late and the Queen of Hearts and all her card soldiers are making me work on other boring projects (the kind that pay the bills). However, rest assured I shall be there in spirit and looking forward to seeing all the wonderful things you all get up to. I dreamt I was at the Mad Hatter’s Tea party a while ago – perhaps I was meant to be there!
As I can’t be with you, I thought you might like to take a look at this little YouTube clip of one of the world’s finest chef’s – England’s very own Heston Blumenthal as he recreates Alice’s drink me potion as part of a Victorian feast. He also made an edible Mad Hatter’s gold pocket watch but regrettably I couldn’t find that clip. Watch and enjoy! By the way, I shall attempt to somehow let the delicious Heston know about your party – you never know, he may just make an appearance!
