I’m Late, I’m Late, for the Holiday Plunge!

Yes…

It's true.

I am beyond behind this holiday season.

Lots of projects and things going on.

However, I best plunge before my time runs out!

Holiday time 2

My tree is sooooo unconventional this year.

I'll come back tomorrow with some photos.

I have all my vintage ornaments ready to go.

Holiday time 7

ML is picking the last of the pecans, which happen look like ornaments on the leafless trees.

So lovely.

I am unpacking all my favorite glass baubles.

I spent a good portion of yesterday cleaning my house…

Before I mess it up, haha!

Holiday time 9

It's most certainly winter.

The garden is losing leaves.

Although, it does keep a winter green here and there.

Holiday time 6

I find a flower tucked in when lucky.

Holiday time 3

I set out to pick nandina and pyracantha berries for decorating.

Some fresh pine cones from our trees need glitter me thinks.

Holiday time 4

I pick up a few kinds of eucalyptus from our trees and some pine tree branches.

Holiday time 5

I am crrrrazy about vintage ornaments, you?

They make me smile.

I love the fading insides of the mercury balls.

Holiday time 1

My platter is full, time to plunk them here and there.

Holiday time 11

Pretty candy colors fill my heart.

Holiday time 13

I need to bake a little.

And shop.

I haven't shopped!!

OH MY!!

I am soooo behind!

I have been so busy all month, really, intensely busy.

Holiday time 12

I managed to find 3 tender roses in the garden.

And the bright nandina berries are so pretty aren't they?

Holiday time 10

I will finish my very funny tree, and take some pics to share tomorrow.

How are you????

I feel like I am living in a parallel universe.

I need two of me.

Do you ever feel that way?

It's fun though, to be busy.

Better than being bored I guess, hee hee!

See you sooner than soooonly!

Looooooove, V

Sparkly heart

ps:

Look at everyone taking their morning baths.

Holiday time 14

All the little guys flew off when they saw me.

Except for this guy doing back flips.

Holiday time 15

Goodness, he was having a mad blast!!!

Holiday time 16

Funny little back strokes!

Insert classical tunes such as those used in cartoons.

Maybe a waltz 😉

  1. Me thinks ‘Skaters Waltz’ would work well as a tune for the sweet sparrow doing back strokes! Tiny birdies are so sweet!
Your ornaments are such lovely colors..definitely some of my favorite colors too!
And your red berries are so bright and cheery!
Have fun shopping! Be careful of the distracted drivers out there. I have seen more crazy drivers running red lights, totally oblivious! I even had to tell myself to stay calm, and breathe deep, and take my time, as I tell myself ‘the world isn’t going anywhere’ that it will be here ten minutes from now. So, I slow down and enjoy the moment.
lots of hugs, and holiday magic wishes
    Miss Teresa

  2. Laura Tieri says:

Love the bird! That’s so cute!
This year I put up my vintage silver tree with all vintage mercury ornaments. I did mostly pinks & teals like you have in your bowl!
I just finished up 3 days of baking!!! I’m exhausted! I packed up 15 cookie trays & 15 bags of caramel corn for my husband’s work people! I’m getting too old for all that! I didn’t do the cookies the past 2 years & the people missed them so I thought I’d give it a go this year. I’m lucky 6 others won’t be in this week or I would have had 21 to do! Yikes!
I can’t wait to see your tree!
P.S. I got my sweet little girl today! She is adorable & is with the others I have gotten from you!

  3. The shopping was okay, my aching feet, I am done. One binge shopping night was good enough for me, hee hee!! Love, V (like a skater’s waltz, yes, exactly!)

  4. Oh yay, your little arrived, I am so happy!! You did a crrrrrazy amount of baking, oh my goodnesssss!!! Time to sit back and relax I say 😉 Love, V

  5. Oh yes, I too adore Vintage ornaments, especially ones that naturally age and get a speckled patina to them with time. Some of my cherished ornaments are exactly like that and were given to me by my Grandma. They are also in pretty pink and robin-egg blue. Some even have a “cut-out insert” and they have a mirrored mercury glass inner layer that reflects all of the lights on the tree. I love all of their fragile beauty.

  6. Renee says:

I love the colors of the ornaments. Of course I am always behind. But I have shopped and bought all I need to, I’ve been wrapping as I bought things so the presents are all under the tree. Trees are up. Decorations are out.
Today I baked shortbread. Three ingredients and it is just so good. I have a tin of shortbread to take to my best friend tomorrow.
We’ve all been sick, some nasty viral respiratory thing so even tho I have tons I could be doing here I am going to help my daughter for a while tomorrow. Our youngest’s grand’s other grandmother will be here from Scotland tomorrow. I am so excited for here to get to see our adorable little one.
I figure if things don’t get done they don’t and I’m probably the only one who knows they didn’t so it is all good.

  7. Jenn says:

Love those sweet candy colours! Hope you’re having a lovely first day of winter even though it’s probably not too wintery down there!

  8. Celeste says:

I know your Christmas will be Magickal however late you are, can’t wait to see your tree!
Have a wonderful Holiday! Celeste, PlumfieldHouseGardens

  9. Kelly says:

Hello Vanessa! Looks wintery dreamy your way! Loving your Christmas vintage palate too! I decided to put up a very small unconventional tree this year myself. I just didn’t feel up to my usual larger one. The winds of change have got me under its spell. 😉
Your bird photos are a delight!!! Now that’s what a bird bath is for!!! I sooo love the birds<3 I am also grinning over Matty's expression! Pictures worth a thousand words!
Keep enjoying the holidays!!! I need to get to some baking and fudge making today. Wish me luck! <3<3<3

  10. jeanie says:

You aren’t alone in being behind-behind! I’m a member of your club! But plugging along (my nut-making day is tonight — or today, if I’m lucky!)
Sending joy your way and savoring your beautiful pink and aqua ornaments. Yum!
    Merriest!

  11. Jenn A. says:

    Hello, Miss V!
I love, love, love those sparrows. And the one doing the backstroke? How amazing!
And yes, I feel like a need a personal assistant ‘most every day. But as you say, it’s good to be happily busy…
We’re doing less, in terms of decorating, this year at the holidays, and it has made a big difference. I put up two small (table-top) trees, threw on a few little lights and some old ornaments, and, voila – Christmas cheer! The lights look so pretty at night and they make me smile, and gave me the gift of a little extra time…
Which I then spent baking waaaay more cookies than usual for people (though I don’t think nearly as many as Miss Laura up above – wow!) and going to all sorts of holiday events (the town tree-lighting. a local candlelight village walk, etc). It’s been lovely, and I’m very much looking forward to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Happy and Joyful Holidays to us all, and especially to you, Vanessa!

  12. Joanna DeVoe says:

Soooo much pretty going on here! Love the pastel ornaments & the little birdies taking their morning bath. MERRY CHRiSTMAS… -xoxoxoxo

  14. Linda Diane says:

Hi, Vanessa! I have been in the busy plunges of Christmas for quite some time now, but it never fails that I don’t get around to EVERYTHING I would like to do! Sometimes we just have to tell ourselves that there are so many ways to enjoy the season and go easy on ourselves when we start to feel frustrated. Frustration is not a good Christmas season emotion, so I must keep myself from it! 😀
Thank you for sharing peeks at your beautiful holiday surroundings. Your vintage ornaments are gorgeous. I love the little bathing birdies. Oh, and I am glad to have the reminder of nandina berries! I have bushes in the front yard, and I must retrieve some berries for my inside décor.
    Big hugs, my friend.

  15. ALWAYS SMILE WHEN I STOP BY HERE!!!!! Thanks

  16. ALWAYS SMILE WHEN I STOP BY HERE!!!!! Thanks

  17. I have to show my boyfriend those pictures of the bird back flipping! He will love them! Your garden is magic!

  18. Marcia says:

LOVE it all. The colors are delicious.
Catching up on all the holiday splendor I missed, and stopping by to wish you a WONDER-full year.
    xoxo

  19. Jen says:

Oh my goodness…those birds are absolutely adorable! 🙂 🙂 🙂 Lovely pink and gold baubles! xo Jen

  20. Michelle Lindquist says:

Yes, those old ornaments make me swoon — I think their shabbiness makes them even lovelier. Luscious colors! Loved seeing Matty’s face with the berries. Even though he’s fierce, he’s really beautiful. And my heart is doing its own back-flips over the bathing birdie beauties! Sooo sweet! 🙂
