Her Grace Lady Vanessa the Ingenious of Melbury Bubblewick

Would you happen to remember my little mandolin heist of May 2007?  Well, the way that all turned out was not in my favorite spoiled girl fashion.  Sadly, Mr. Lovee said "No, you can not have the Mandolin…"  I begged, I pleaded… and he decided to offer me a deal…

If I wanted the mandolin below, which happens to be the one I found in the music room. I would have to give up something of my own as a sort of, trade…

Img_8056

I would have to trade a mandolin I already own, for the old one.  Mr. Lovee had the mandolin below, made for me for my 30th birthday.  So, like I said, the only way I can have the old mandolin is to trade him for the one below…

Now, I don’t want to give up this beauty. And, let’s be serious, I mean, we all know that somehow, someday, I will acquire the old mandolin… Right?  Hmm, I don’t know, he is being really really tough…. What should I do?  Give up?  Just keep mine and be happy??

I guess for now, I’ll just have to behave…  I am keeping busy in the studio.  I mean, really really busy.  I have been painting & making paper dresses, non-stop, for days…  Here is just a teensy smidgen of what I am up to…

I have to say, the more rain, the more fungi friends. And, the more fungi friends, the more I want to paint more of my "Peculiar Day" series…

Img_8041

So, here is a Peculiar Day girl in the making… I am actually sculpting the trees out of paper. Too fun! And, too messy!!

Img_8053

I have to get back to my art studies… Self induced art studies.  I spend so much time in the books.  I just can’t stop!!! Come sit and read with me, would ya?

I am easily amuzed!!! Obviously…

My Peculiar Aristocratic Title is:

So tell me Lady Vanessa the Igenious of Melbury Bubblewick how will you get that bubble gum outta your hair when it goes pop?

  2. Paris Parfait says:

Let’s face it, Lady Bubbles, you will have that mandolin sooner or later. No need to give another musical instrument up in the bargaining process. 🙂 The ladies are looking good, as are the trees! xoxoxo

  3. Patience is a virtue – I do believe it will be yours in due time…without giving up the other one. Perhaps this is an endurance test, haha! Make up a song about you and your TWO mandolins and walk around singing it. Walk by it gently running your fingers over it and SIGH! oooh, isn’t that awful, I sound so manipulative. (I’m NOT really). Just making suggestions. heehee
    Hugs from:
Very Lady Lisa the Rustic of Midhoop St Giggleswich

  4. Loving those trees!
    XO

  11. sadira says:

Oh, I think you shall not only keep the mandolin but get gifted the other one as well! I begged and pleaded with my special prince, and used a “baby little girl” voice…and he called me on it (actually, he began mimicking me…and I caved) I replied with, “if I use my grown-up big girl voice, can we please discuss this?” and in the end, perhaps these men are put on the Earth to please us (cause you know they like it when they finally do!

  12. michelle says:

Oh you are definitely going to end up with that mandolin eventually, I mean they don’t call him Mr. Lovee for nothing right?! You know I thought I really loved your art before this whole fungi, paper dress thing started, but I gotta say this is just a whole new level and I love it! I kind of laughed though, about the rain making more fungi work, so when it stops are you going to start throwing in cacti? Just kidding, made me giggle though! So glad you are having messy art fun! OXOX!

  13. Anastasia says:

  18. Oh no! How could he make you give up one ho so beautiful mandolin for another…that is just too much and may result in a demotion in my mind for Mr. Lovee to Mr. Not-so-Lovelee…hmmm
The paintings are gorgeous! I have been doing some art studying myself.
    Yours,
Duchess Betty the Abstemious of Mousehole by Sea (mousehole?? Ackk!!)

  19. cruststation says:

You have the most beautiful string instruments in your household, absolutely swoon-worthy -I can see why you can’t give up such a stunning thing, but I’m sure with some persuasion Mr. Lovee’s mandolin will surely be yours. Love the paper-dress progress shots, and the picture of you blowing bubbles is hilarious! Thanks for the cool aristocratic title link 🙂

  20. lou says:

my god! i WANT that crown in your last post!
I mean, really, i would actually trade my soul for this…………and i noticed you have Dante in the book cupboard, this is always a good sign;)
As for the mandolin, i would accept no trade, you will find your hands on it somehow, and have the best of both worlds.
There IS such a thing as having your cake and eating it, trust me, i do it all the time:)
    xxx

  21. sarah says:

My God, don’t give up the 30th birthday mandolin. He had it made for your 30th birthday? What a star. It’s so very beautiful And you’re going to swap it? Whatever are you thinking of?! It’s only 4 months til Christmas, bide your time!

  22. Hello Miss FancypantsbubbleblowerIV!
Ahh, I love the tree! And I’m with the rest of them who think you should hold off on the mandolin deal. Men are so easy…. he’ll break soon *wink*
So, the crown pretty much sucks that I’m trying for you. How do you feel about a gargantuan cone instead? Lol. I’m still working on it though… haven’t given up YET.
Luv ya! Miss ya! Hopefully my life slows down a bit this week…
    bubblegum hugs and stuff,
    Moi!

  23. Phyllis says:

Viscountess Phyllis the Extemporaneous of Deepest Throcking THINKS that maybe Mr. Lovee is concerned …that Lady Vanessa Grace Bubblewick might pop something sticky on his mandolin!!! But finders are usually keepers and possession is 90% of the law, isn’t it? When are we gonna hear you play?

  24. Tricia says:

love the bubble face, Lady V!

  25. Marjorie says:

OH! You hit my Pre-Raphaelite Soft Spot….does everyone have one of those? Right under the left rib cage! 🙂 I used to have a mandolin….but mine was not half as pretty as those! Nor could I ever get my fingers to not ache terribly after plucking it! Alas….It was traded in for a classical guitar for my husband a long while ago!
    Your Pal,
Her Eminence the Very Viscountess Marjorie the Winsome of Hope End

  26. You fun girl, did you know music is just as important in my house? I just finished teaching”Magic to do”(with choreography) to the 11 and under set!

  27. Bronwyn says:

I’ve had dreams of being in what seems like a museum, & in there discovering all kinds of old violin-like stringed instruments. I learnt violin for a couple of years as an adult. Both of my children learnt violin, one is about to do her 8th grade violin exam (!) & the other is now an electric guitarist.
The last picture on this blog post reminded me of the gorgeous fairy illustrations by Shirley Barber. The artwork you see here really doesn’t do her artwork justice: http://www.shirleybarbers.com/MarbitArtwork.php?PageNumber=1&PageBlock=0&ProductNumber=82. Her books are gorgeously illustrated. We bought several, years ago. As a child, my daughter wrote to Shirley, & Shirley wrote a proper letter back herself, in one of her gorgeous cards!

  28. How do violins work and what does the bow do, I pretty much know how a guitar works and guitars are similar to violins, but I don’t quite understand why the bow is needed. Does it do the part of the fingers that strum a guitar.

  29. Hey … I had to stop at this site to say that this incredibly informed about one of the sweetest instruments and subtlety of the music as the guitar, just amazing, thanks for improving my life with this information, because as they say around … . never stop learning to play guitar.
