Happy Easter!!

It looks like it's about time for the Easter bunny to make his rounds…

Easter 1

I feel like, here it is Easter…

And I didn't share cascarones or egg wrappers or freebies.

Or remind you of where to find them.

Slaps forehead.

Spring has really caught me.

I have been watching and listening to endless birds.

Seeing green things grow bigger and bigger.

Waiting for millions of little white buds to appear on my climbing roses.

They are here, almost ready to open.

And, yes…

Playing with sugar eggs, still.

Sugar eggs and things 1

Actually…

To be honest –

I became obsessed with dying my sugars, and pressing them into all sorts of molds.

I tried this and that, and oh this and that over there too.

Of sugar eggs and things 2

This little tart mold I had worked wonderfully, and while the sugar was still carvable, I made a little dip on the other side, for putting treats in.

I am obsessed.

Yes.

I.

Am.

Suagr eggs and things 5

I am only getting started with this obsession it seems.

Why must I be like this?

Listen to songs until I can't stand them.

Make things obsessively, maniacally?

Madness, I'm certain.

Suagr eggs and things 4

Tutorials for sugar making things here.

Also.

I coaxed the boys into an Easter picture for me.

They didn't seem as annoyed in person as they do in the photo, haha!

Easter 4

I figured it was only fair.

I slept with Miles' fanny on the left side of my head all night.

Not to mention, Matty jumped on top of the bed at 3 a.m. and slept sprawled out over my legs and belly, and stayed there for 4 hours.

As though, it was perfectly fine and normal.

So, needless to say, my sacred slumber has been dogified big time.

And, since they can get away with murder with me, they do 😉

I don't mind though, I am so crazy in love with them.

Oh oh…

Wisteria is showing up here and there in the garden.

Yumm.

Easter 5

And, no stretching the truth here – practically the entire property is carpeted with wild chamomile.

Easter 8

Snow years, we get more than non snow years.

It's also called pineapple weed.

It smells unreal.

There are not words.

The smell is outragous.

Like sweet candy, better than ripe pineapple.

Better than than than…

I don't know what.

Magnificent.

Easter 14

Matty is seeming to feel soooooo much better.

He has another vet visit in a few days.

He is still on a couple meds.

So so so so much better.

I can't believe we almost lost this boy.

(chicken wire everywhere because of rabbits)

Easter 6

He is also filling out, as he had gotten so skinny.

He is eating again, and hugging and loving, and barking.

I notice there is a tinge of not him-ness in his eyes.

But he is almost there.

He came through this ordeal with new white fur around his mouth.

Poor baby.

Easter 7

Morning jogs and walks have been sublime.

Every time I run around the way back, and the sun in coming over the mountain – I gasp.

It's so pretty against the giant apricot tree.

Makes it look all decorated for Easter like this tree.

Easter 10

Well, not exactly, but I can pretend.

Easter 12

I love how when the white blossoms fall off, there are still pink teeny flowers underneath.

And then, the green comes.

Easter 13

So Eastery…

Easter 11

As all the blossoms slowly fall off.

Miles is so willing to have his pic taken.

We tried to coax Matty into this one, but there was no luck at all.

Easter 9

I hope the Easter bunny is good to you.

Easter 2

My Easter puppy is as soft as a bun.

I convinced him to do some day ear shots.

But he was soooo bored.

Easter 3

An abundance of Easter wishes sent your way!!!

I have been working sooo hard in the garden.

Mowing, weeding, washing the last of winter away.

My hands hurt.

Maybe the Easter bunny will tell Mister Lovee I need a day of rest and massage 😉

hint hint.

Hope you have a loooovely weekend!!

Love, V and the boys

Sparkly heart

ps:  Off to make Trix Krispies!!!!

They are soooo pretty!

  1. Jessica says:

    Happy Easter, Vanessa!

  2. GET says:

Do you mind telling me what was wrong with Matty? I’m so glad he’s doing better. Your blog is so fun and I’m in love with wild chamomile, too. Happy Easter to you. Diane

  3. Jen says:

SO very happy to hear that Matty is improving more and more! A happy Easter to all of you!

  4. Irina says:

Many beautiful Easter blessings to you all, sweet Vanessa! Please give your darling furry boys an extra squeeze from me! 🙂
So very glad to hear Matty is getting stronger, oh, they are both beyond precious… (and decked out for Easter…can they be any cuter?)
You live in Shangi-La, you really do…enjoy the miracle of it all…and thank you for sharing it with us!
    Much love and sparkly blessings,
    – Irina

  5. Kelly says:

Sooo WONDERFUL to see Matty looking much better! Your apricot tree is Spectacular! Love your rather large rabbit! Tee He Hee!!! Happy Easter to you, Vanessa and the Boys!<3

  6. Laura Tieri says:

I’m not sure if you got the message I sent with my order yesterday. I’ll just wish you all a Happy Easter again in case you didn’t.
I love how Matty refuses to look at the camera while wearing his hat! Your apricot tree looks amazing! Oops, I better go get ready for church. It’s later than I thought. Have a Great day!!!

  7. Your goodies look too good to eat, Vanessa! I had to laugh at your boys dressed up for Easter. It made me think of the year I hid colored eggs in our yard for the kids. They only found a few and then our dog {who has since passed} came along with a pink, blue and green mouth. I never hid eggs outside again! Love the smell of chamomile. I bought some on Etsy along with some lavendar to make sachets. I had done some reading up on it and found it is supposed to help you sleep. Something I could use! Happy Easter!

  8. Happy Easter to you Jessica 🙂

  9. Yes of course, he had some strange neurological thing, where he was falling
over and dizzy and bumping into things and not eating, and limp, and not getting
out of bed… it was so scary. Happiest Easter Diane 😉

  14. Kathy, ohhhhh, and Easter egg gobbling pup? Skins and all??
OMGoodness!! hahaha! That would so be Miles. Not Matty, but Miles
for sure. I cant get over how these plants smell. Like a faint
chamomile but more sweet ripe pineapple for sure, no wonder they call it
pineapple weed. And as you step on it, it lets off the aroma as
well. I like to take the little yellow bits and squeeze them in my fingers
    an smell. Yuuuum!!

  15. Happy Easter or Feliz de dia el Conejo. Your babies look adorable! We went to Descanso Gardens near Glendale, CA. They had gorgeous wisteria and I want some..somewhere so much. We took tons of pictures of our daughter, Natalie. She made a headband with flowers on it and looked like a green haired Frida Kahlo. She was having so much fun! At 15 those are rare moments when they can act carefree with their parents. If I was going to grow vegis I’d have to put chicken wire all over too. We have tons of birds and squirrels. The other night we had two raccoons in the back yard. Climbing up and down the tree, rolling around so We watched them with our flashlight. I was glad the cats were smart and stayed in the house. One time we had a raccoon at the window and the cat and raccoon were making awful noises at each other. lol

  16. Deborah says:

Love the shot of the boys in their Easter attire! Just a quick visit right now; must come back and drool over all your pretties. It’s Passionate Madness, my love. Off to spend the day with The Baby. Alleluia! He Is Risen Indeed! Happy Easter.

  17. Carl Vincent says:

Happy to see that Spring has made its way to you. Winter and Spring have not yet come to terms this year. With a huge snowfall last Sunday (after a couple of days in the upper 70’s) followed by beautiful Easter weather yesterday and today (and a chance of snow again tomorrow) there has been no gracious exit by Old Man Winter. And as much as I enjoy him early in his arrival I am ready for him to go away for a good long time now. Our trees are just starting to bud and today’s mid-60’s sunny weather is divine. I’m wanting to embrace all things Spring, from my music choices to my reading choices to how I spend my time. Glad it is finally here once again.
Happy Easter to your and yours. They are cuties!

  18. Theresa says:

Happy Happy Easter to you, Mr. Lovey, Miles and MATTY! 🙂 He looks sooo much better, and I am glad to hear he is eating, and barking, and playing. They both look super duper cute in their Easter finery. 🙂 Sounds like you are having an idyllic day. 🙂 We spent some time outside and ate some yummy food and cupcakes. Enjoy the rest of the holiday! xoxo

  19. Miss Linda says:

So very happy that Matty is recovering with Miles at his side. Spring means Easter and new beginnings and new growth for all of you. Keep up the wonderful things you do. You all make all of us smile.

  20. I love your Wisteria…such a Tuscan-styled elegant flowering shrub.
Matty does look so much better…and like you said…you can still see a bit of the old, spunky Matty ‘missing’ in his eyes. Oh! He is too young to be having white fur in his muzzle! Poor baby.
We had heavy rain, lightening, and thunder late last night…sooooo exciting to see and hear it! We needed the extra rain.
Here is to a Blessed Holiday to both you and Mister Lovee and the fur boys!!!
    XO
    Miss Teresa

  21. Hey V!! Happy Easter to you and your sweet family too. The pups look amused, tee hee. My Roscoe looooves when I do stuff to him like this, hahahaha 😉 😉 They look adorbs. Love that you are back in the garden too.
    Hugs,
    Jamie 🙂

  22. Annalee says:

Oh my goodness… you have the best Easter Bunny ever! He’s just the cutest. ^-^
Miles looks so bunny soft… but I think Matty might want to eat his hat… or at least chew on it a bit? =D
Happy Spring & Happy Easter! I hope you guys all had a most wonderful day! Have fun in your garden, and I hope you get your massage!!!
    XOXO

  23. Annalee, her eis some funny pointless trivia 😉 Matty hates chewing
things. in fact he is so picky. If you give him something and it is
not in small pieces, he is no that inclined to eat it. But Miley, he LOVES
toys and chewies and all that stuff 😉 Matty is super finicky
    🙂

    Take Care,
    Tracy M.

  25. Linda Diane says:

I’m soooooo beyond the gladdest of glads that Matty is doing a LOT better! So happy for him and so happy for you, and Mr. Lovee, and Miles, too! He needed his brother.
Oh, I’m so glad you are enjoying creating those beautiful sugar eggs, and I love seeing the sweet beginnings of spring around your place!

  26. Renee says:

Wonderful pictures as always. I’m so glad Matty is doing better. I think he’s earned the right to sleep where ever he wants:)
I understand the madness. I am like that-obsessively crocheting a blanket now for the new baby girl (she is due any day).

  27. Renee,
That is SO FUNNY!!! I agree, he has the right to sleep anywhere he
wants. On my head, belly, nose – his choice, hehehahahaha!!

  28. Hi Vanessa, happy belated Easter! I adore your sugar making skills. I want to try that too. But you haven’t inspired me for the first time cause I gave my Easter kaffeeklatsch table a mad teaparty twist. I was completely over the moon with your mad teaparties of the last years. Your magical pictures were in my head for weeks and on Easter Sunday they find their way out. Maybe you want to have a look at what came out. I couldn’t make everything I wanted cause suddenly the guests were at the door but I was quite pleased with the result. Thank you for the inspiration!!!

  29. OH, Vanessa-the boys look delightfully annoyed! Next time you must slap a pair of bunny ears on Lovee, too. Perhaps a vintage Playboy bunny suit? The whole nine yards.
Those sugar molds are gorgeous. I’ll have to check out how you’re doing them. You’re OCD in the best way, perhaps?

  30. Alia says:

I am so happy that Matty is getting back to his old self!! We used to have that little plant that smells like pineapple back at my house in Oregon. I used to love smelling it, but I never knew it was related to chamomile! I just planted my seeds on Saturday and they are already sprouting. Flowers will be on their way in no time!

  31. Queenie says:

    Happy belated Easter!!!!
The photos of the fur babes are wonderful!!!… Matty the magestic beast in his stately lion pose and Miles the cutest snuggle bunny ever! Enjoy this most magical and hope filled season of Spring.
    Have a great day.
    Always, Queenie

  32. Chris says:

It sounds like a sweet Easter! The boys look handsome as usual.
I have been here so rarely lately that I didn’t even know there were doggies problems. So sorry!!!
