First Words From… (and a tiny update below)

Hi there!!  I officially have internet connection in my new office, YAY!  I am crunching carrots for breakfast, and am delighted beyond words to be in my new home office space…

I still have some unpacking and organizing to do.  I can't ever imagine moving from this property.  Moving from one part of the house to another has been insane on its own.  WE are all itching to be cozy and 100% installed…

Moving

It is bright and light in here, and I even have a bathroom and little kitchen (I am going to make this bathroom my official bathroom, even though I have my own bathroom in the main house, this is closer to my room).  It is like playing in a dollhouse.  The bathroom has a bit to go, everything is connected except the shower.  My kitchenette -I know, you are asking yourself, why I need a kitchen? I don't, but it was in the original plans for this space (before I came along, 10 years ago) so I get to have one.  It won't have an oven and such ( I can go 20 steps and three stairs to the real kitchen), but it is a lovely tiny space to play in…

You see, this whole office/sitting room/packaging room space was originally another canning room on this property (there were 4  large canning areas here).  The people who lived here before Mister bought it 20+ years ago grew everything they ate, on this property – and canned their hearts out…

So, Mister took this one canning space and decided to turn it into an apartment/guest house of sorts, for visitors.  He tore walls down and configured it to have a little room with a bathroom and kitchenette.  But he never finished it, and then I came along 10 years ago and started filling the empty unfinished space (up to the ceilings) with treasures.  Thrifted, antiqued and road trip treasures filled the space…

Soooo, I have had to organize said treasures, then re-organize them into my two sheds, clean out the office space, and finish the building process (with Mister's help in the building part, of course).

I am so close to being fully installed and organized, so close.  I have been working on it early morning until late night for days and days.  Mister Lovee has built me a work bench, shelves, a cozy space piece of furniture and he is just finishing the kitchenette sink housing and tiny counter.

He gets brownie points boiling over, especially since he isn't even a "real furniture builder" of sorts.  But then again, I guess he is.  He built all my work benches in the studio and my bed in my private boudoir…  I need to make him a pecan pie TODAY!!  😉

We are so ready to be done :)

Anywhooo, I just wanted to say hello and share what I am up to…

I will be back with a proper post later today or in the morning (or very soon) ;)

UPDATE:  My new Office Space (which is not my studio) is delighted that you all want to come and play!!!  And, just for visual effect and because I feel like I don't make sense ;), my new office is one door away from my studio (which I have been creating in for 9+ years), and some have asked – so here and here are past links to some small snippets of my studio.  And over here and here and here is my wee Gallery outside.  All are different spaces, not one in the same 😉 😉 ;)  I should draw it out so I don't confuse you silly 😉 Heck, even I am confused, tee hee…

  1. Paris Parfait says:

Mr. Lovee is quite the talented guy! Lucky you (and lucky him to have you in his life). Can’t wait to see photos of your new space. Miss you! xoxox

  2. It’s obvious Mister Lovee loves You! My hubby built me bookshelves one year for Christmas; just the fact that he did that was the best gift ever! I don’t think he’d built anything since shop class in high school. So you can have your pecan pie and some tea/coffee in your little kitchen ~ sweet!

  3. antikva says:

ok, that’s it, I’m coming to live at your place 😀

  4. How fun! Can’t wait to see pics 🙂 ~ER~

  5. Deborah says:

A guest room where one can room with the wee Elfins? Delightful! Congratulations on your new office. I feel an Office Warming Party is needed. OOooooo, this thought just ran through my head…please do tell us all if you EVER have a garage sale! But then again, we would all swoon and you’d be stuck with a fine group of bloggie friends laying on your lawn.
P.S. I had way to much fun with my halloween lables of yours!
    **blows kisses** Deb

  6. Kylee says:

Oh for goodness sakes!! I thought you had disappeared into the desert somewhere!! Sounds like lots of hard work but oh how pretty I’m sure your new space is going to be!! I’m so excited to see it!!
Have a most productive and delightful day!!
    Kylee

  7. Sarah says:

Oh it sounds lovely Vanessa! I am so pleased you are nearly there! Mr Lovee definitely does deserve a pie! Have fun arranging!
    Sarah x
PS-I have also had an advance in home comforts-not quite the same but quite liberating-we now have wireless-it is such a novelty. I am lying in bed looking at blogs and listening to the radio!

  8. Vanessa:
How exciting! I can’t wait to see pictures of the finished project. What an interesting home you and Mr. Lovee have. Old canning rooms? Do you know the full history of your old house?
I’m going through a studio re-do myself. I’m calking this week. My husband installed wood floor and new baseboards, but honestly, his small detail work is not the best. So….I always do the calking around here!
    Thanks so much for sharing:

YAY for new spaces & Happy Veevala & Crafty Clever Mr. Lovee (ummm yes, I noticed those hands that post before oh yes i did. Yummy strong ones….sigh).
    LOL
HEY what a menagerie of whimsical childhood and grownup playtoys in that jar! I could be occupied practically all day!
And if you fed Cowboy HOMEMADE pecan pie, why, I’m pretty sure you’d have TWO helpers with good hands, because he, like Mr. Lovee, loves hammers & nails & wood & measuring & calculating & footage…….and pie.
HIP HIP HOORAH 4 V’s NEW SHINDIG!!
    XOXOXOXOXO

  13. karin says:

I’d love to see pics of your benches. 🙂

  16. Alix says:

Congratulations and high fives to you and Mister Lovee for work well done. When may I come see for myself the enchantment you have built?

  17. Sounds like a wonderful spot! – and custom furniture, ooh la la!
    Looking forward to photos!

  18. I just knew that magic was afoot in the desert! That Mister Lovee is quite a guy… I have a sink in my studio(it is the laundry room on Sundays, dontcha know..) and it comes in oh so handy. I would imagine you could hole yourself up in there for days making art and messes and such. So much love in this little country house. And I second the notion of a Fanciful garage sale…but it would have to be virtual since I couldn’t actually swoon on your front step (well, not literally anyway!)
    Enjoy the day, faery Queen!

  19. Lisa says:

Congratulations on your new work space!!!! Oh, how I envy those with “real” studio space – mine is a tiny (cute but cramped) 7’x 8.5’room – and then what ever rest-of-the-house space I spill over into ;-). I’m hoping you’ll post photos of your lovely new space.

  20. sadira says:

Congratulations! It sounds like the perfect little spot for you…the kitchenette and bathroom will come in mighty handy when you’re up at night creating and barely have to leave your space to have all your needs taken care of…a pecan pie sounds as if it’s well in order indeed!!

  23. kate says:

All these renovations are exciting just to read about, it must be fun planning how it will all be set up.
Being a yarn lover I’m jealous of your kitchenette- I’d love a space to felt and wash and dye and hang yarn without housemates getting in the way wanting to do silly things like making dinner.
Your studio always looks like such a fun place to play in too!

  24. Shell says:

I’m looking forward to your pictures of your new space. It is fun and hard work to make a space shine and glow the way you want it too. Once your done, you’ll think how lived without it.

  25. Cori. G says:

Oh! roasted marshmallows, shroom grog, and Baby Monkey, but where is Mister Lovee’s head. It seems to have disappeared beneath his curly lockes. What am I speaking of, you may wonder? Why your little rabbit trail with all its delights!!!!
Speaking of delights! New rooms for fun and frolicking, decorating and dreaming! What fun you must be having there beyond your secret gate and might I tell you also that I simply can not wait!!!! To see all your wonderful new digs.

  28. karen cox says:

    Hi Vanessa,
I was working late tonight, lost in Photoshop heaven and decided to take a break and come see what you were up to. I followed the links to your spaces, and this is so exciting. Being organized makes the world of difference in the creative process. Not that I have actually experienced this, I am totally disorganized, and have my creations draped from my art room to the family room where I enjoy my computer.
I can’t wait to see these pictures. What bliss to have such a wonderful space.
    Karen
Oooh does this mean that you might just appear in Where Women Create? hmmmm, that would be a good thing!
    Karen

  29. Elaine L. says:

  32. It sounds like you have been very busy!! But having fun just the same. It is exciting to move into your “final” studio/gallery/kitchen area. How wonderful it will be to sit in there, look out the window and daydream!! Sounds divine!!
I am loving my visits to your magical blog! It is an easy way for me to leave where I am, and jump into your fabulous world of wonder!!

  33. Mr. Lovee sure knows how to keep a lady happy! How fun to have a new place to do what you do so well. ;D Can’t wait to see the final outcome. I am off to look at the snippets. How fun! It’s always such a joy to visit with you.

I wish I had a Mr.McLovee..an absolute miracle you have that space!! Thank you so much for posting on my brothers blog,I am so honored and moved..I’m blown away! George is still learning computer skills..for now he knows only to click on faces under followers..I told him about your blog but the link did not highlight on his blog…could you possibly join his blogif you feel moved to do so? George is new to blog world and does not know there are other artisans out there similar! He thinks he is crazy and his artwork is crazy!! I posted his pics on flickr and he has had two comment’s comparing his work to ‘Henry Darger’ and ‘Howard Flinster?’!!! Did you see the painting with the harlequin angel figure in upper right corner in one of his paintings?..he said that was me!! I am trying to get him to do a bigger one I can put on my wall!! I feel bad for him his health is bad and he has had a rough journey. He was committed because he saw angels and faeries flying by his window and balls of light going through his kitchen.I really feel that George is a shaman trying to live in this crazy reality? LOL Denise

  40. Kandes Lee says:

I am so glad I have a Mr. Lovee-like man. He made me a dresser for my birthday last year, he created a studio space for me in our house and just remodeled my office at our shop. All just for me. It is so nice to be loved, huh?
We are remodeling the storefront of our shop and moving everything in the work area, so I relate to the in between crazy chaos. Hope you enjoy your new office space! Looking forward to seeing it.

  41. V, Please sign me up for the party. I really can’t wait!

How exciting to be moving in to your new space! (But oh my goodness how I would love a canning room!)
I was thinking the other day about my own creative space and how it would be great to have a sink and an oven so it doesn’t seem that strange to have those things around.
Oh and congratulations for getting your lovely Halloween potion labels on the front page of etsy this morning! I wish you many sales!

  44. I will be delighted to see pics of the decorating process!!! Such fun and such a lovely Lovee!

  45. elizabeth says:

  50. michelle says:

So that is where you had gotten too! I wondered. I know just what you mean about being ready to be done. We have a hard time making it to the end of such projects around here. Sometimes it is so easy to run out of steam! So glad you have almost made it!

  51. terisa says:

We’re selling our house. It goes on the market today. I have no idea where I am going next but I sure hope the Lord has someplace like your studios in mind!

  52. With your office internet connection up and running, you’ll always be in touch with all of us here! Also, always take your time with your unpacking and organizing. Keep in mind where you placed each item so, whenever you miss something, you don’t have to flip the place upside-down to find it.
