The second I was back to my old self I celebrated with lots of baking. Although The chocolate and coffee spree is not as intense as it was. I am on to lovely vegetable grilling and delicious avocado tomato swiss omelets. Boy do I feel fantastic!! I have been delving into a book from Cinderella, and really thinking about some things I want to do this lifetime!! Mr. Lovee was so good to me while I was ill, I just had to bake for him!! He has a lovely sweet tooth, and is one of those people who you just love to cook for because he enjoys it so much!! I am delighted with my Williams-Sonoma Cake Pan!!! Get one! It is wonderful!!
So, after the baking, I sat down with my lovely book and thought, could this really be a reality for me? Before I go on, you must understand the unusual truth. You see, I was raised by two lovely parents with a lovely home on a hill plus a sister and brother, and not one thrifted, found, or vintage item ever crossed my path. I never knew of or went to a thrift store until I was living on my own. Antiques were only items I saw in my Grandmothers house, and most of them had come over from Spain and were things like giant scary old Spanish Dancers, etc. (that is not to say that there aren't treasures beyond my wildest dreams in Spain.) My poor parents wonder what is wrong with me. I scream SSSTTTOOOPPPPP while in the car, if I see an "estate sale" sign, giving the driver and passengers a full on heart-attack.
I drag home treasures that "normal" people would never ever ever think of being able to take home (remember, my Momm-bee is the major source of egging on my purchases.) Like, huge pianos, even though I already have two, and life size mermaids, and all kinds of religious icons, and 4 foot mushroom sculptures, just to name a tiny few. The point is, I like to make the impossible happen in my world…Which is why I make everyone in my family feel stress and fear with the rapidly becoming real idea of… Me traveling the country in a Silver Palace. Could I handle it? Check out this lovely book by Douglas Keister , it is filled with an artists gypsy love!!! Let me share a few pages of this charming book!!
Don't you love it??? What do you think? Should I empty out my piggy bank and get one??? I could come visit you, and craft all over the country????
I could bake those great cakes in my cute kitchen!! And you could come on little voyages with me??? We could paint and draw and laugh and have fun every day??? Okay, maybe I am getting a little carried away??? What about work? Hmmm. I didn't really fit that into the equation….Oh ya, we'd have to sell art, Of Course!!
I can see myself now… Yes, how lovely…I'd need that fabulous automobile below as well!!Hmm, this is rapidly becoming a major option!!
I can see me now, just like this girl in the book, although, I don't think I'd ever wear that outfit, that is just me personally though.
I would drive down the road, singing… Or would it be terribly lonely? Decisions, decisions…
Oh, the dreaming almost made me forget the news you have been waiting for. I did not misplace Pirate Girl. She is GONE. Remember how I got vertigo just as I realized I couldn't find her?? And I had a visitor…Well, look at what I found when I felt better yesterday…. Yes, A Ransom Note!! Can you even believe it???
I actually have to come up with 10 sheets of Fuchsia felt and one jar of glitter!!!!! I have one week!! Yikes!!! How could Cinderella do this?? Take my Pirate Girl? I am afraid of what she will expose her to? Life in the city??? What????
I can't dwell on this. But, what in the world do you think Pirate girl is doing? I am trying not to worry because I have to go work on two commissioned paintings…I am behind!!! and my little crafty things are all leaning….Gotta run for now!!! Thank you so much for putting up with these ridiculously long posts!!!

Oi, girl! How dreamy.. I’ve always wished to travel around in some such vehicle, although I never saw one so adorable, and I never thought of being able to bake in the little kitchen and sell goodies and treats out of it — you should do it! That sugar dusted cake looks sooo scrumptuous 🙂
Those things (the mobile homes) cost an arm and a leg, but if one were willing to live out of it, it’d be worth it 🙂
Now I’ll be dreaming all day!
Come and visit meeeeeee! You can park in my driveway and I’ll even let you use the bathroom!
And shame on Cinderella for doll-napping. You should steal her prince. That would teach her!
Pirate Girl is doing just fine. We had a tea party today.
That airstream book photographed very well. hey we should go to the airstream dealership just for kicks, it’s down by the airport.
haha thouroughly entertaining…I think I saw pirate girl last night out at a bar flirting with all the young hot bartenders here in the city….she did look quite fetching…
What a gorgeous cake!!! You’d never want to cut into it…!
Now that is one sleek caravan, how groovy!
i love your drawings…I too am the only one in my family that appreciates and saves ‘old’ things…they call my stuff junk or heaven forbid clutter..boohoo!
Little Knowme has dared Pirate girl to come visit me…I promise not to expose her to too much! she might teach me a thing or two haha….
Oh my, what a cake! And the book – terrific. At one of the stores that sells my earrings in Brooklyn, they carry skirts by this couple who drives around the country in their mobile home, making pieces of clothing along the way, and selling them at boutiques to buy gas and food. Not a bad existence, I’d say.
Get a beautiful silver air stream and set it up as a guest bungalow at your loftish space, that way, i have a little place to come and visit…
I promise I would not kidnap pirate girl…but I might sneak some of Cinderella’s dresses if she came to visit too.
What a fab post, that book, ooh eee ooh, it’s AMAZING. And to imagine you driving around in one of those baking your heart shaped cakes (wow to that) is just such a nice image.
And, while I’m getting chatty, I love the way you draw, that drawing reminds me of Pippi Longstocking, I could really imagine her being illustrated by you, with her long legs and her animals.
What a lovely book…I think I have the one table cloth in one of the pictures! I’ve been wanting to get a small Airstream forever…we could caravan around, that way it wouldn’t be too lonely…and think of how fun that would be…coffee/chocolate (plus all the lovely baking and omelettes as well)
Our first stop of course, would be to go and rescue pirate girl…arrgh!
ooh, i love those vintagey silver trailers.. sort of reminds me of the movie with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz – The long trailer..or something. What a cool idea to travel around – you must come to Canada to see me..hang out in our farmhouse..
pirate girl is having a terrific time I’m sure, drinking tea with Cinderella – sounds innocent so far..
That is so cool! Want a “house” like that too. Love your drawings x
Delightful from top to bottom! A lovely post!!
Wouldn’t an Air Stream be heaven just to look at if nothing else. Your cake looks wonderful, I’m sure my cakes would fall apart if I tried to bake them in a pan like that.
Oh, that cake looks delicious and so pretty, your Mr Lovee is so lucky. Wow, a Silver Palace is such a perfect home for you, I like the sound of joining you on your adventures. Your illustrations are amazing, I’m glad you know the whereabouts of your pirate girl…don’t worry, I’m sure Cinderella has just taken her for a night on the town and possibly paint it red?
Oh no! A kidnapping – and to the city too!
Oh how exiting would it be to be a gypsy travelling artisan, painting by the see, sewing underneath the mountains, outisde cooking and indoor pottering! So glad you are feeling better my dear.
Oh what a yummy looking cake! I don’t think I’d have resisted a slice before taking a photo! I love the clever storage in caravans, for some odd reason that excites me….
What a lovely cake!
We actually thought if we get any RV it will be an airstream just because all of our other friends and family that have other RVs, most of them end up leaking or something. They even said they wish they had gotten an airstream…LOL
Pirate Girl will be fine, she’s a pirate for Pete sake!
hello dear vanessa!
do you read ullabenulla´s blog? remind me to send you a link because sh recently wrote about gypsy caravans…and posted some wonderful links which i won´t be able to locate as they are stored in my still broken computer. but they sure are fabulous and there are even some that are hotels! plus you must remind me to eventually send you my link to the man who makes little houses, some of which can be bought in little kits. are you familiar with this?
finally, do not worry about miss pirate girl. we all reach astage in life where we must head out into the big bad world for some exploring and experiencing…i´m sure she will return soon. a littl less naive but much more appreciative of her dear mother. 🙂
Of all your delicious posts, could this one possibly be my favorite?Okay lets review.A yummy picture of a beautiful sweet, segueing(sp?)into a cartoon that definitely depicted my my single adult life(what would she bring home next?)queeried my own bemused mother time and time again….and could it be… you wish for an Airstream as much as me? I do not wish to travel in mine. My husband and I have a deal. If he gets a swimming pool(of which I want no part of),I get an Airstream for the pool house,a little sumpin’ sumpin’ for my visiting artist freinds. You then end this divine post with a kidnapping?Oh ,the tantalizing visions of Pirate Girls adventures in the big city!!!!!
ooh the cake is yummy!
I’m going to buy a heart-shaped pan!
Get one! and come visit! I love silver palaces!!!!! That would truly be the life wouldn’t it?????
And pirate girl….oh dear…I hope she has glorious adventures in the city!
I love these diversions from… whatever… – yes get the airstream – I will travel with you IF you go south – at least this time of year – bring that cake for sure and don’t worry about Pirate girl – anyone with a name like that knows what she is doing. You know the only problem with a cute little airstream like that is it won’t hold a lot of stuff and certainly not more than one piano – the life-size mermaid will probably fit tho – and she can sleep in a tent. xox – eb.
try the email again – it should work as posted – 🙂 🙂 🙂
Your culinary tales put me to shame. It all looks so delectable to me!
see you, g
What a lovely cake…I went to the site…love it
Tanx for visiting and yes…had several magic cups today!!!!!
Chamara
What a fabulous book! Pictures right out of my childhood… And for years all I wanted was a ‘Woody’, now they are wayyyyy out of my price range… oh well. Happy to hear that Pirate girl is safe – somewhat – wonder what Cinderella needs felt for – a story is brewing…

That cake is incredible! I need that pan immediately!
PS I absolutely adore religious icons, too:-)
I can not believe how many little caravan (rolling the rrr) Crrreatures we have here!!! You are so delightful! And, inspiring. Now, I hope you do come along and let me stop and use your showers and eat my air-stream baked cakes. Don’t just leave me out on the road all alone!!!!
