When you wake up from your slumber, do you wake up with your eyes closed, realizing you are back in consciousness? Or, do you promptly open them for a split second, and then close them to groggily acclimate to a new awakening?
Do you realize you have awakened, and grasp at strands of your rapidly vanishing dream, wishing to be taken back into that place… Desperate to return to your dreamscape?
Do you sometimes, think you are somewhere else, like your room in that house you grew up in? Flashes of your dream, sparkling, hanging on for dear life? And then, realize, you are now here. In this bed, in this moment in time?
Do you occassionally have such a deep dream, that you truly think, you were somewhere else in time? It discombobulates your day, feels so real, your heart strings are twisted and turned… When I hear that tune, I think of all my summers in Coronado, California… Our home away from home for years and years… Awaking there, with the moisure of the sea, enveloping my senses… Nostalgia looming… (the movie was played constantly on the hotel channel)
Dreams are a whole other existence for me. Another realm of my being and my life… I studied dreams for two years in school. And, found ways to revisit places I had once visited in that dream state…
When I was around 20 years old, I had a dream so intensly real, I felt like I was there. People and places and names came back with me. A place I could have never been or known of. My mother in that dream, was a famous ballet dancer… Perhaps, reasons why I paint women of dance… Who knows… It is all so interesting…
The one thing I can tell you for certain, is that, I make sure to keep my Dream Keeper happy. So that she can drop me deep back into those places I love to visit, in the wee hours of the night…
As she drops me, I spiral through the dark sky, bouncing from a cloud here or there, until I arrive in my other world…
I pay her in jewels…
She plays a haunting tune, to ensure that I arrive at my night time destination…
She knows all the meanderings of my hearts voyages… She knows all the carpet rides I take… She is the last creature I see when I close my eyes, and the first creature to greet me when I awake…
Have you identified your Dream Keeper?

Sooooo, that is a bit of what I have been up to… And I best get back to work, as I still have elves and creatures itching to show their faces very very soon 😉
Back to my favorite place I go…
Don't forget about all your dream thoughts… I love dream talk!!
🖤
ps: Oooops, I almost forgot!! I made the Tomato Pie!! Thank you sweet Chris!! You get a box of flowering tea 😉
But first, let me say, I can't even begin to thank you for all those recipes… All that typing of recipes for me!! I feel like a spoiled little kid!! You girls are so awesome, I can't even tell you!! Thank you thank you!!!!
And I have no photos to share of Tomato Pie, because it was gobbled up like the wind!!! I also plan on making ALL of the other dishes shared… I can't wait… Tonight I am making the sticky Lemon chicken, or maybe the cranberry one… Then the chicken with French dressing, then the caper chicken, then umm, let's seeeeee, where to begin?? Cauliflower, potatoes with chiles!! I am making them all, that is all there is to it… etc. Oysters, curried seafood bake, the general's chicken… I actually, wanted to make two or three dishes, but I was too lazy to go get all the ingredients on Sat… So the Tomtao pie won for V-day because I had the ingredients… And it was more than good! Oh, and I made my Quiche crust for it…
Annnnd, I made another quiche yesterday… Yumm Yummmmm…. My recipe is here for you…
Okay, must skedaddle – I am talking too much… xoxo

Wow, Vanessa you have been very busy! I think your new postcards are such a delight. I am torn between “Lantern Dance” and “Fluttering Memories”. I envy your talent!
And on the topic of dreams I find that I have a dream nearly every night. Most of the time I remember what they were and sometimes I try so hard to remember them that I nearly burst my brain from thinking so hard…haha
Have a lovely day!
P.S. The quiche looks delish 🙂
Kylee
I knew you had a special place for the mysterious hootie holder – your Dream Keeper should wear it proudly! It would show off the jewels even more beautifully!
I love the “escape at twilight” postcard. Red is my favorite 🙂 the tomato pie sounds yummy. I think I’m going to have to try that out too… congrats on the tea Chris 🙂
as for dreaming…my best friend and I start conversations all the time with the phrase…”I’m not sure if this really happened or if I dreamt it….” LOL
I used to dream that my teeth were falling out all the time. I researched it and that was supposed to represent feeling insecure. I haven’t had that dream in a long time tho, so I’m guessing I’m feeling more secure now. Here’s hoping we all have great dreams tonight
perhaps it’s a dream keeper that i need? i have to many of those dreams that you really wouldn’t like to have. the new things are as beautiful as ever :). i have a very soft spot for dancing ladies and tea. one day i’m gonna convince the man in the house that it’s exactly what we need ;). and i love that you’re making postcards, because it reminds me that it was a long time ago since i sent any. a forgotten art really.
anyway (who’s talking too much now?) i really came by to tell you that i fully understand that you’re busy and i’m just so happy that you agreed to help me :). i can wait, in the mean time i just imagine ;).
I was totally into dreams too at one point, Vanessa..I still have all of my books. I had a vivid dream once, referred to as my” technicolor dream”, where I was in this beautiful lush green valley with a stormy purple sky. I was by myself just loving the the beautiful scenery and wind. It dawned on me that I was in heaven and that it wasn’t the traditional place you’re taught as a child. I was happy and then to my right this mother elephant ran by me stopped and said something telepathically to me ( I can’t remember).
Ok it may not sound that interesting (huge gaps in details here) but it was a fantastic dream and each time I see an elephant a part of me just says ‘pay attention” here.. Oh and I had another one where I felt as if I had been dreaming all night dropping into areas all over the world and just experiencing people going about their daily lives..another fantastic dream..it was so real I wouldn’t be surprised if I was “astral traveling” 🙂 Ok why I am I babbling here..I should be saving this for my blog…lol.
Your cards are lovely (may I ask who you recommend for printing?I’m not happy with the company I’m using). They look great all together!
p.s. love your previous post…hahaha! tsk tsk Nate!
You should put your magical Valentines lingerie on your Dream Keeper! 😉
I dream every night…and remember every dream. I always relate them to my hubby in the morning. My Dad always said if you tell a dream before breakfast it will come true…so some dreams are told AFTER breakfast and AFTER the second cup of coffee! lol That’s one of the reasons I wanted Dreamer in my blog name!
Oh, I love the Movie Somewhere in Time, and the music!! Thanks for putting it on your blog today.
Tracy M.
Somewhere in Time!! I love this movie. Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour are just beautiful in the movie. Your cards are lovely.
Yes, I like the rounded corners too.
I never though of the idea of a Dream Keeper. Now I am intrigued by it. What would mine look like? I have to think on that or I should say dream on it.
Your Dream Keeper is lovely. I’ve had dreams so real that I when I wake up, I’m lost for a few moments. Some dreams I wish were real. I’m sure you understand this all too well, Miss V.
I know your busy working, thanks for popping in. I love your work space.
Beautifully written!!
I have a dream keeper?! 😮
I love your postcards – well, you already know that. They’re such great quality as well, all silky and not flimsy.
The past few nights I’ve counted and counted in my sleep. Sales tax, figures, everything I’ve had to learn to start my business. I’ve woken up every single morning with ONE clear thought about something – and then I always fall back to sleep but I’ve been able to remember those good ideas lately.
Wow. It’s 3 a.m. and I own a business and have a new site and shop. This is for real. This is my job now.

Your new artwork is woderful! Pretty as always. Perhaps your mother was a dancer in a precious life. Who knows…Or perhaps you see her as a dancer, graceful and lovely.
Loved the marshmallow memory from years ago. Poor thing. You must have been motified. My brother had to do the same thing. He slipped apack of Life Savers in his pocket when he was 4 and my mom marched him right back in and up to the mgr and made him say he was sorry and then scolded him in the car. I felt so bad for him. I was 5.
Your Dream Keeper is both frightening and beautiful. I’m not sure I’d feel safe in her arms or squeamish, but one thing is sure…I could never take my eyes off her for she is mesmerizing indeed.
I’ve been thinking a lot about dreams.I have one that occurs every few years where I look from a window caked in dirt. Only in the center can one see out. When I wake it stays with me for days. What is it that the mind is trying to remember? Or forget!
Your little cards are so darling! I especially love the one of your sweet little furry friend with her long wispy eyelashes. So adoring!
Oh, yesss….I had one of THOSE dreams, ‘tho mine involved Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom (they were very naughty boys! 🙂 )
You are so productive Miss Fanciful, do you do your artwork WHILE you dream? I can’t imagine any other way that you find enough hours each day.
Your Dream Keeper is a person of mystery. I must find one for myself…
xoxo,
Kate
I like your dream keepers. I wonder if I have one too. I have moment where I wake up and not know where I am. And Now this year I have dreams of people I don’t know. These dreams are very adventurous and weird to me. I wonder what they mean.hehe
Later,
L.
mmmm I love to keep my dreams. I love hearing my children retell me their dreams. Yesterday I was channel flipping and Somewhere in Time was on, the TV description called it a “hokey 2 star movie) I was flabbergasted I loved that movie. Next they’ll be calling The Princess Bride an unrealistic fairytale. Of course fairy tales are unrealistic why wouldn’t they be, who wants a realistic fairytale…duh.
I love your cards and the rounded corners are perfect.
Anji
The elfin card! I am screaming with delight over here, they are just darling! (I’ve become a bit obsessed with your sweet little elfins and creatures) And don’t even get me started on dreams, I live through dreams! Dreams are like a portal into the unknown..what could be lurking in the corners of your mind, Miss V.?
And your studio, I LOVE your studio. And your photos. (I could ramble on forever here, sorry!) You really are the most creative person I’ve stumbled upon in my strange little journey! You create individual worlds from thin air…incredible!
Well, I have to go before I spontaneously combust from excitement. Ta!

Hi!
I love the new cards, especially the special day one with your sweet dog. All the food you have made and plan to make sounds yummy. It’s breakfast time here so I feel quite hungry. The kitchen is non-existent though so I may have to wait till next when it is back to make lovely food. I can plan though!
Sarah 🙂
i love your favourite place!!! i am starting to eek out a ‘place’ in our new home but it is hard to keep the rug rats and sticky fingers out. i guess we shall have to makes some rules… yeh right.
ok off to bottle and bed the youngest rug rat.
%*_*% rosey
p.s. the youngest rug rat suffered a mild concussion and puncture wound to her head this morning after jumping off the car! so i will be holding her a little tighter tonight.
Your new cards are wonderful!
Tecu’Mish
It makes me so happy when you write so much! Since I do a lot of studying on the computer I check this a million times a day and my hopes are rewarded more often than on most blogs. So thank you! A bit of art and clear, colorful pictures always is cheering!!
love, cait
Wow, those cards are quite inspiring. I make cards too, and yours push me to better mine.
Oh Vanessa, these new creations are wonderful. I adore the one with your dog and those fantastic eyelashes. The magic you spin seems to spill right into your paintings.
Dreams, where I get so many of my ideas for my creations, that I hardly think I should take credit for it. Maybe our angels know that we will do whatever they ask when we awaken, so they never tire of whispering to us in our sleep. I can only imagine how delighted your angels must be as they dance with your creative muse.
Karen
P.S. I love your new etsy header!
Oh! They are all just lovely and cheerful beyond words Especially your adorable pup with her lovely lashes!!!!
Happy Tuesday to You miss Vanessa! 🙂
I LOVE the picture of your studio! No wonder it’s your favorite place. Day dreams are the best, because those are our wishes. Twyla
Very nice treats! Colorful and happy indeed.
Thank you ever so Miss VV for making life shine.

Your postcards look fab; it’s obvious that your studio is bursting with creativity! Dreams are important and it’s good to remember them. And the tomato pie sounds scrumptious! xoxox

Toma, aka The Antiques Diva
ohh my so much creativity i don’t even know where to begin….my prints arrived and i love everything. i will frame it and show you what i did with them! lovely work my friend!
I need a dream keeper…I woke this morning in that place, wanting to hold on to the dream, not sure if it was even a dream….
anyway, I see a Fanciful cookbook in your future!
x..x
You have been busy! Escape at Twilight is most favoritist & reminds me of my bittersweet journey to this new life I have.
I have those dreams where I wake up & can’t for the life of me remember where I am because I think I am still in my dream in a far off place. & once I shake off the sleep I become promptly upset with anyone & everyone I come into contact with because that other world was so much softer ; )
Bonjour, magical , mystical Miss Vanessa. Dream a dream of peace and love and fun times !
Oh, I ADORE Tea Party Sojourn! Excellent. 🙂
Dreams… you are so lucky to have such an intense dream life. I am such a deep sleeper that I rarely dream full out. I often dream of simple things, like a cat staring at the coffee selection in the grocery store!
Oh, Oh, Oh, could I be your dream mother? I was a dancer one hundred years ago and had unusually long brown hair back then…as you know, I have been very drawn to your dancers…Love, love, love your little blondie with eyelashes! Happiest card ever. **blows kisses** Deborah
Hello Miss Vanessa,
Always wonderful things to see and read about. Awesome photos!
~ Gabriela ~
G says I dream sagas……..many times when i wake up i can’t shake the situation or the faces of the people in them. If it’s a really good dream I try to remember as much as I can when i am falling asleep…in hopes it come again and continue!
XOXOXOXO
You´re stuff is great, I love it!
you made my day sparkle. thank you miss v
I just bought a set of postcards but must be blind, I can’t find the mixed set that I really wanted? Do you still have?
Dreams- some are so vivid they ARE real, they just have to be. And I have many that are recurring.
Your new postcards are beautiful 🙂
I`ve been writing down my dreams since I was in my teens. Not every single dream (that would be a lot since I can have so much as 5-6 dreams that I remember in only one night), but only those I feel are special. I have several dream places and creatures that I visit that only excist in my dreams. Some of the creatures that appears now and then are a blue phoenix, a silvergrey gryphon, and large white wolfs. In times that I need it the most, my childhood dog appears in my dreams to comfort me. I love my dreams very much 😀
You don’t talk enough …
Love your talkings and the way you see things.
J’adore your postcards , I may buy some .
A bientot
Mélanie
To answer all your questions in the beginning of your post: yes, Yes, YES!! All the time – most of the time it is wonderful, but some days I’m left feeling strange – like I have a foot in each world all day long…=)
I LOVE your Dream Keeper – I need one of those!
And your cards are gorgeous!! I see you put the beautiful princess pup there with all her joyful personality shining through! =)
Have a “dreamy” day!
Donna P.
you are very busy my friend…looks like you are selling well…i am so proud of you and all you have done…continued good karma to you…hugs, r
I just found your blog and love it!
well, it seems I can’t remember my dreams lately…which is really the pits. I used to have really vivid, fabulously detailed dreams and I would quickly write them down when I awoke. Maybe I don’t get enough sleep anymore…not enough time to dream!? I have lots of dream interpretation books…and I love to analyze my husband’s dreams:) I do daydream EVERY day and today will be all about that yummy looking quiche:) The new cards are delightful too Vanessa!! Happy day to you:) xoxo…jenn
love the daydreams Vanessa! In fact I am a big dreamer, can’t get enough of them in the day and night.. These days my mind is all over the place, too many old people popping up on my Facebook and I am not sure if thats a good thing or not!
Vanessa, love this post. I dream every single night and can remember them for a good part of the following morning. I dream in colour, and they are extremely vivid and a lot of the times the dreams seem like past lives.
Here is one for you. I dreamt of an old two story white cottage next to a bridge over a babbling brook. I remembered a lot of details about the house and started to tell my husband and he went kind of pale and started to describe the same house and landscape that he had dreamt that night. WEIRD! Come follow me on clare-thisandthat.blogspot.com
Hi Vanessa,
I got my print today — thank you so much. And thank you for the post cards. We just loved them all. The weather over here in England is so dreary and I was feeling very “blah” today — until I got home and found my package.
Best to you,
Kim
Guess what’s for dinner tonight…what’s in my oven RIGHT NOW! A QUICHE! My very FIRST …following YOUR recipe! I don’t think my crust came up on the sides as much as it should but I’m going to TRY to remember to take pics when it comes out of the oven! Timer is set for 40 minutes…oh the suspense! Be back later!
Lavender Dreamer….

I totally relate to this post about dreams…and also the movie Somewhere in Time, my favorite of all time. I do believe that we get to visit places and people when we dream, that it is an actual experience, maybe in a different dimension or state. I fly in my dreams, too….but not lately. awwww. I actually a dream visit with Christopher Reeve the night he died. No kidding. I just loved that man. Don’t you think it’s cool that he visited me in my dream the night he passed? I will never get over it. Life is amazing and we have all of this amazing potential…that sadly goes to waste most of the time. I want to use my potential! Yay for dreams!
Hi Marilyn (Monroe)-
Doin’ a Highland Fling over the Lantern Dance!!
Pam (Anderson)
Loved your Valentine’s day Post!!
Oh V, dreams are so interesting and I’ve always been amazed at how it all works! I’ve bought dream books but never studied it, I love that you did. And that quiche sounds de-lish. Love your puppy dawg postcards in the shop, she’s just so girly, hehe!
Jamie 🙂
Oh! I’m so excited!!
I have been SO busy, Vanessa, I haven’t done any visiting, and I’m behind behind. And I am very glad that you liked the tomato pie! It’s stunning, isn’t it? And so simple. I look forward to my tea…
I am going to your shop, now. Everything’s pretty and I could use a dream keeper or two…
nite nite, princess!
