I live in a magically nutty little world. Where I work along like a little elf myself. There is a running joke that Mr. Lovee has with me, about being an elf…
You see, many many years ago, while doing my real world job, I must have surprised some clients unexpectedly, while arriving to meet them early. The husband, from Argentina (very handsome), opened his pale blue eyes so wide and exclaimed! Look, she arrives like "an elf out of nowhere." So, it snowballed, and over the years, I became "La Elfa – The Elf out of nowhere." So, sometimes Mr. Lovee asks, how is my elf? And other times, he asks me, if I know where my elf is? Like I have a little being lost inside of me 🙂 Or maybe he asks that when I am being horrid and bratty. Needless to say, it’s an elf’s world around here…
Speaking of which, I popped some characters into my online shop yesterday at 6 p.m. My shop is finally stocked…
Here are some of them gracing the A Fanciful Twist, Fairytale Forest Theater…
I have been adding a few more characters to the shop since last night… However, I wanted to share some of their little faces here… (these can be found in my shop) All the dresses are made from Vintage Dictionary Pages…
The Bird Queen. Keeper and protector of little creatures…
The ever sneaky Little Red Riding Hood and Wolf, all in one… I made the Wolf some glasses…
Then there is the sweetie herself, Princess of the Elfin Cypress Grove…
The next girl makes me so giggly. It is just so funny to me, that creations can have personalities and tell stories… And I’ll tell you what… There is some gumption coming forth from some of these characters isn’t there? it is soooo funny!!
Like, this little one, who is so ready for a tea party, and she knows, she makes a mighty tasty cake…
There is also a snail girl with a mushroom table and 4 mushroom toadstool chairs…
And a lovely snail girl on her own, Tallulah…
As well as two mischevious snail girl sisters…
I also popped in another tea set, and some other little forest friends…
The following items have now found homes, but I wanted you to get to see their little names up close… And let you know that there is a whole other elfin clan coming ultra soon…(click on any image to enlarge)
So, if by any chance, you have been wondering where I have been… I have been doing 10 jobs as a one woman show. I need all those little elfin to jump up and down on my back and give me a massage 🙂 Oh, now there is an idea…
Off I run for now… Lots more to tell you next time… xoxo, V

I pine for Tallulah, but alas, I have no extra funds. Beautiful as always, my love!
Ah, your bird queen is amazing! And I love your little mushroom sets with snails.
They’re all lovely. You must have been really busy!

Could you hear the sigh all the way from the northeastern U.S.??? I’m so very sad I couldn’t get one…I have wanted an elf ever since I found your blog. I am just THRILLED that you are making more!! Yippee!!!
Hey, when your little creatures are finished massaging your back, can you send them our way? 🙂
Everything looks wonderful, such a charming pince-nez for the wolf, and the queen’s crown is amazing!
Whee!
Wow, your work is wonderful….I am going to browse your shop as soon as I post this quick message. I love the treatment along the edging of the newspaper dress. Thanks for sharing your creativity, keep it up and I’ll be back to see more, Thanks, Mandy
I’m so in love, love, love with the little red elf! way to go on the great flow of creative magic-ness!
ps – my post cards are here and they are soooooo way better than anticipated! I’ve been twittering with delight. 🙂
Miss Vanessa! I was at your shop update and thankfully managed to grab my most favorite elf, the little red guy with the polka dot gloves (Barnum). But the rest of them, and the trees, they went in the blink of an eye!! I so wanted Balbo as well…and a set of trees!
Hun, if gas for my wee car was not $4.06 a gallon for REGULAR here in CT.(as of today…who knows where it will be next week), I would have grabbed the Princess of the Elfin Grove in a split second!
But pleeease make more elves sooon….they are just too cute!! 🙂
OH it is all soooooo wonderful! I love the bird queen best I think, although those little elfin in their cyprus forest kill me. Oh, and the wolf’s glasses-amazing! It is all so beautiful, sigh… Thanks for sharing it all!
they are so wonderful Miss V…love their faces full of character!!! great work!!!
AAaah Ohhhh they are wonderful and splendid and just a delight!! So so busy Miss Vanessa – I do hope you are well. I think the red riding hood doll has to be my favourite. Drink lots of tea and be merry!
Ah, my little elfin friend, your new shop goodies are divine x
aw… I love the back story to the elf nickname. 😉 hehe!
your new creations are just LOVELY! they are inspiring me so much this morning! which is a very good thing, because I just got some new software yesterday and am feeling quite overwhelmed by the possibilities. and when I’m like that, I tend to get too distracted from being *creative*. hehe. so thank you for the boost of ideas and inspiration!
have a splendid thursday!!!
You little elf village is so fun Miss V! I love all the fun bright colors you have been working with lately!
Ah my fanciful elfin friend, I missed you while I was in sunny California!! I see you have been busy in your cyprus grove…each and every one a delight. Yes, they do have personality and gumption — they get that from their “mama”!! 😉
Oh, I really wish my daughter still had red in her room (but now that it’s pink your paper girl on canvas hangs on her wall) but Red and The Wolf would have fit perfectly years ago. I just love these. You have such a unique look to your art. You can always tell that these are your creations. I think my fav is the Queen of the Elfin Cypress Grove- I have a few conifers and she would rule over them wonderfully.
Take a bow little elf!

Hola Miss Elfa! tee hee. You HAVE been tres busy I see. Lots of amazing new girls there, and so fanciful!! Love the wee tea set, I put my itty bitty blue tea set on my last blog post. I scored it from Etsy!
I’ve been busy myself, which is why you haven’t seen much of me lately…but I’m here now to say I’ve missed reading your blog and it took me awhile to catch up on Mothers day and your adventure with your pretty cousin. So fun to read your blogland tales!
Your dolls have evolved into such gorgeous creatures…and the snail girl!! the best.
x…x
I absolutely adore your magical little world!
Karla
Look at you! Ms. Productive. It all looks smashing, of course. But you make me tired, dear girl. I’m going to go take a nap now.
oh oh oh! I love that tea set so, and if I hadn’t just spent all my pennies on tons of fabric I would snap up the Tallulah Snail girl in a heartbeat! Wondering now, if I can send some fabric back… 🙂
All of them are so beautiful! I especially love the Bird Queen. Those little birds perched upon her arms are the cutest!
I would love to live in this magical world with all of the fabulous beings you create.
These are so beautiful! I am just amazed by your talent.-Shonna
In my fairy tale world, I am filthy rich and I have cabinets full of Miss Vanessa’s creatures. I’m also skinny and gorgeous, but that’s another story.
I have no problem believing that you’re an actual elf (judging from the beautiful dolls you produce), looks like so much work!! Always a fairytale over here, love the little red riding hood especially.
Vanessa mi curiosa…you have pulled out ALL the stops! Wow. Your crafting is on a whole higher level and I think…Dept. 56 needs to hire some peeps to make these in bulk…and get you rich fast. Well…other artisans do it…
LOL at what Betty said!
What imaginative, phenomenal work! Your little creations are absolutely delightful. What a talent you are.
Brenda
I love your work! Amazing! I too live in a little fairy tale world, make dolls and other kinds of art based of enchanted forests and the creatures who live there.
Love everything!

Oh you have been a very busy elf! I love snail girl and mushrooms. I’m doing a bit of juggling myself at the moment, but that is one of my favourite things about doing what I do 🙂
