Bridal Shower Flower Power

Hellooooo there!

Boy, I have so much to say and share, and yet I have to run…

Bridal shower 1

I am delivering basil and zinnias from my garden for a bridal shower.

Bridal shower 3

And I have been running around with this and that, and working on a special commercial illustration project.

In an 11 hour different time zone.  So it has been really fun and exciting.  I am enjoying it oodles.

My camera is still at the doctor.

It needs a major operation, and might not make it.

I have tons of recipes to share and things I want to take pics of.

I am using a camera that only works on manual right now, and in camera years (based on usage/photos taken), is about to kick the bucket.

He's Charlie, the 92 year old camera.

Oh Charlie, please live until Deidre returns from heart surgery.

(it's a motherboard of a surgery, literally, needs a new motherboard)

She's a fancy elegant, too expensive to take out on dates but we try, kinda gal camera.

(you can't help who you fall in love with in such tales, you see)

It's like, a camera movie thriller mystery suspense film in my land.

It's kinda fun, and kinda hard, to use a manual camera.

Sometimes I am not sure if my eyeball is seeing clearly.

But when I do get things focused well, the shots are lovely.

Just lovely.

So, Charlie ole guy, hang on!

Bridal shower 2

I think the basil, with it's tender flowering, is going to make great arrangements for the shower, don't you?

I just recently let my basil start going to flower.

I have had so much basil, it's a crime really.

It's a basil forest.

And I didn't even dent the 4 huge areas of basil with the cuttings above.

I tried to gift some to the chef/owners at a local Italian restaurant in my tiny village.

They were appallingly rude.

I am like, it's a gift.

Please.

From me.

And, they said no.

No no no.

We don't want it.

We can't use it in our restaurant.

We can only use ordered things.

And I said, yes I know, but this is a gift just for you to use personally, the chef/owners.

Not to serve.

And they said, nonononononooo!

Like I was an evil witch with a poison apple.

Dang.

(I have never said dang in real life)

But dang.

🙂

It's kinda funny now, looking back, since my heart isn't crushed anymore.

Haha!

But honestly, I get it.

They don't know if I water my plants with space monger water.

So, I get it.

It's a funny tale now, looking back.

Anyhow, I hope the basil and flowers are a hit at the bridal shower…

Bridal shower 4

The butterflies are still here, now going on 6+ days.

And multiplying.

It's a phenomenon really.

Not sure if it is migration.

Or if they are from the gobs and gobs of caterpillars we had.

But, it's awesome either way.

And I am sooo happy they are here.

They fill a massive tree and 4 huge bushes now.

They are like confetti when they swirl around you.

So nice.

Okay, I must run, but I plan to be back super soon, because I have fun things to share, and I got behind with my busy week of drawings.  I love getting back to the pencil!  Love it!

 See you soooon.

Love, V

Sparkly heart

  1. Jill James says:

    I would take your basil!
For a minute, I thought you were having your own bridal shower…..You & Lovee were married in another life ~ no need to do it again 😉

  2. Miss Linda says:

Your basil and zinnias look wonderful. My thoughts are with Charlie. I hope he comes back happy and healthy and soon.

  3. Kelly says:

Vanessa, you had good intentions with your basil. It is toooo bad the Crazy Italians TEE HE HEE (I really lkie Italians, no hate mail please) didn’t want some of the freshest looking basil in town. I always wanted to be Italian in my younger years. I loved to listen and read Leo Buscalgia speak about his family life and such. I believe he is celebrating in heaven now!
So, what I see U R saying is that there is a wedding and possible funeral! Yikes!!!
I hope Diedre surgery is a success and old Charlie will be a good and helpful companion until he needs to be back on the shelf once more.
I am excited to hear all your other news! Wish you could make a movie of your butterfly heaven. Like you don’t have a gazillion things to do already! <3<3<3

  4. Oh MAN—-what kind of bozo says no to fresh basil?
Those flowers are spiffy. Makes me want to get married again just so I can invite you and see what you bring me from your garden.

  5. Your basil and your flowers are probably the most organically grown in Arizona. I wouldn’t trust the ‘commercially grown’ basil they use at the restaurant over yours! How ironic. So? Was it an ‘Italian’ bridal shower? I am sure it will smell like one when the basil is added to the celebration. (Being funny here).
The basil will add a zing of greenery to the festivities.
And is Deidre(I have always loved that name!) your super special camera that decided to become ‘ill?’ That is what I kind of gathered by your post (not a real ‘person’) funny how we become attached with what is comfortable for us to use like a second ‘hand’. I am sure you know your camera like ‘the back of your hand.’ Maybe if she ‘caputs’ there may be others of her vintage make on E-bay hopefully that are in functioning capacity?
I am loving this cooler weather here in the valley…it is sooooo invigorating.
    hugs,
    Miss Black Cat
    =^..^=

  6. Laura T. says:

I was thinking the same thing as Teresa. Unless you have a toxic dump site in your yard, it’s probably much better to eat then all the other food out there with the pesticides they use & look at all the food recalls we’ve had lately! I try to grow as many of my own organic veggies & herbs as I can. They always seem to taste better too.
Your flowers are beautiful with those vibrant colors! Wow!

  7. Lovee and I said vows to eachother under an arbor, as the full moon came over the mountain many years ago. No bridal shower included, tee heee 😉 Hear hear to other lives!! Jill, you are the best!

  8. I hope Chalrie lives a little while longer myself 🙂 And I hope Deidre survies that operation before the Halloween party, oh my!!
BTW, we got a tinge of your cool in the winds, hoooray!!

  9. Kelly, I took a video, but it’s all wobbly and hard to capture them all. But, if I can I will post it 😉
You are so much fun!! I just adore you Kellycakes!!

  10. Yayaya, total bozos! hahahaa! Married again???
    OH MY!! 😉

  11. Miss Teresa, I totally agree with you. My basil is about as organic as it gets. No fertilizer, lots of bees, tested fresh well water.
    Ah well. 🙂
Oh my camera. I hope she lives.
    It’s cool here tooo, hoooray!!!

  12. I know!! I mean, really people, come on.
And the thing is, I just wanted to give it to them. You know?
My one neighbor and i have this policy, we always accept things with pleasure.
Food etc. We don’t insult or be rude to anyone.
Then, if we don’t want to eat it, we feed it to the critters if/or it something that is safe for critters of course.
It was the only Italian restaurant here in Catalina Arizona. We used to love to go there too. I guess, we won’t be going there anymore, haha! That is what Lovee said 🙂
    tee hee 😉

  13. Marjorie says:

Oh me oh my!!!! I’ll take basil ANY TIME!! tee hee Perhaps they just did not understand?? Hmm…..I can’t imagine ever turning down a gift of fresh herbs of anykind!! Your so lovely! And what a beautiful bridal shower idea!!! : ) Hoping your weekend is full of all things lovely, and it appears from your beautiful post that it shall be!! Hoooray!! I’ve just been sticking rat silhouettes all over the house!! tee hee!!! Halloween Hoorah!!
Sweet Wishes from Your Silly Pal!!

  14. Marilyn says:

Oh basil and zinnias what a special way to decorate for a shower. Really I think here in Oregon the chef would have taken the basil. They love advertising they use local grown products.

  15. How very precious and divine. It’s God that really ever and only marries two people from the heart. Blissfully romantic was your ceremony.

  16. Jenn says:

How RUDEEE of that restaurant. Don’t they know how much better things taste when they’re grown with love? Some people I tell ya. You’re so kind contributing those flowers! Your garden as always is the prettiest one that exists.

  17. Theresa says:

So sorry to hear of your experience with the restaurant. Try not to take it personally. Although you were indeed doing a wonderful thing, they might not have fully understood your intentions. But I would definitely take some, if offered!!! 🙂 Those zinnias are so lovely – how wonderful they are for a bridal shower!

  18. Wow! Like others have said, I’d have taken the basil immediately, and then hugged you, plenty! Hahaha. My boyfriend and I grew a patch of basil and rosemary this summer, and I was astounded how well it did…but NOTHING like your plentiful harvest. This year I hope to make space for a small garden and like you, share with others…such a nice thing to do. 🙂

  19. Oh yes!! Do it do it do it !! ;)))
