A Perfect day for Tea {hosted by Elves}

Dreamy days ensued this week, with a couple lovely visitors.  All bringing treats and floral magic, in the name of an Achilles’ Tendon.  Which by the way is doing better than good.  I’ll be done with this soon, I am making fantastic progress!! Thank Goodness, because I am getting all wiggy and restless…  Thank you ever so truly, for all your well wishes!!

What have I been doing with myself?  I have been having tea with elves, and creating new bright treats for my room (that I will share in my shop).  Also, I have been rearranging my furniture over and over (in my head).

Now, if you are having tea with elves, then perhaps you might have to bring tea with elves to life…

She & the elves have found their way into my shop.  And, may I hint that the items found on her walls, will find their way into the shop in 8"x10" size, very soon.

I have been having so much drawing and watching movies time.  And, well, can I tell you something, honestly?  I have not really minded being hurt, because, I have gotten to do really fun things.  Is that wrong?  😉  I mean, movies, plus clay projects, plus drawing, plus treats and visitors?  It ain’t so bad (at all)…  I know, I am a rotten horrible girl 🙂

One thing that did happen is that, I have this bright urge in my soul.  I have shared before that my original dance with Art was a very bright modern and even abstract one.  So, it never fails that, although I adore vintage and Victorian, Baroque and on and on in those realms…  I do crrrave bright and simple in other parts of my soul…

So, to encompass all my loves, I created some new treats for my walls.  But, then I thought?  Perhaps I should share them with you as well??  They fit 8" x 10" mat or frame openings…

So, I am popping them in the shop as well…  I have framed mine.  Here is a side view…

New_creations_1_2

I am obsessed with 11" x 14" mats with an 8" x 10" opening.  They make such a great size for hanging (or leaning).

I will show you a front facing view too, but, there is an annoying glare from my giant skylight….

New_creations_2

So, that is all on the creative front for now.  The dolls are almost done, and I am working on a few new mixed media paper dress girls….

In real life news, this weekend is the 8th anniversary for me and Mr. Lovee (it is a two day long event).  So, I better be off soon, he is sitting in front of me, asking what I am doing…  Also, he is a leg sargeant, so, he is peddling the ice again…

But, I wanted to show you how our other rose bush is blooming…  And what it is offering us…

Coral_rose

And, when they open, they are just lovely also…

Coral_rose_2

Aren’t flowers just the most magical things on the planet?  They constantly astound me…

Precious_roses

Although, a picky garden can have its appeal too, can’t it?

Picky_garden

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you about my half a heart attack!  Yesterday, Mr. Lovee held out his arm so I could hobble out for a tiny walk.  I wanted to see the peaches in their very early stage…

Peaches

When all of a sudden, I felt an odd sensation moving over my feet…  It was a creature that Mr. lovee assures is our friend.  He also assures that if I get bitten, it is not poisonous?  Can anyone confirm this?  Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!

Snake

I was not as horrified as I normally would have been, because this snake has been living in our yard for years.  He pokes his face out every now and then.  But he sure startled this girl…

Oh and Miss Niki!!  Send me your address!!  You won the postcard pack!!

Berlini

You see, she gave our wee elfin his name, Berlini.  Oh all of you had such gooood names!!!  I thought of giving him one endless name…  But then of course, he would have this whole complex in a few years, and spend his entire adult life trying to get over his 42 name, name  🙂

Well, I must be off.  I have over extended my weird leg postition on this machine.  Mr. Lovee is rigging up a leg rest for me, so I can make some visits this week!!  I am sorry I have not been very vocal, but I have read all of your comments and e-mails.  They bring out the most delightful overjoyed nutcake, in me!!!

See you soon!!!!  V

Good to hear that you are doing better. Love the drawing…a tea with elves is a good thing.
Your roses are amazing…flowers are a gift to us from Mother Nature 🙂

  4. Sharon says:

I love the drawings and tea with the elves. I’m going to pop over to your shop right now and have a look.
Your roses are lovely too. Just gorgeous! You know, those are beautiful framed using those 11 x 14 frames with 8 x 10 openings, and Walgreens does a wonderful job with prints. I framed a picture that I took of my MIL’s rose bush and it came out wonderful. I’ll have to take a picture and put on my blog.

  5. marjorie says:

My, what a delightful tea party!! And such pretty chairs and bird cages, too!! I love this new direction!! Your always two skips ahead (and ever so lovely!) 🙂
Happy Monday to You miss Sweet!!

  6. Scarlet says:

Berlini is a perfect name. I feel like adopting another cat just to borrow that name. 🙂
As for your garden, all beautiful except for that snake. Not my cup ‘o tea. Elves on the other hand, go very well w/ tea, as you’ve demonstrated here w/ the beauty of your artwork.
I thank you once again for another wonderful spiritual retreat for the eyes.
Save me a seat next to the chatty elf the next time you invite us to tea. 🙂

  7. robbie says:

looks like a kingsnake…non-venomous…check out this link to double check….

glad to hear you are healing well!
    take care….roberta

  8. Gillian says:

Tea with elves? My kids would adore you!
In fact my youngest somewhat resembles Berlini. NO kidding!
    xo

  9. I absolutely looove the prints.. very tempted to buy on Etsy right now but not sure where I’d hang them. I wish I had my own little office/library/studio to decorate right now! So glad to find your blog and shop. I used to own the domain fanciful.net and was doing some silly random searches when I found it… 😉 Anyway, looking forward to seeing more of your creations etc!

  10. carolyn says:

It’s just a corn snake isn’t it? One that eats rats and mice? Definetly a friend, have you read Kipling’s Riki Tiki Tavi (Bet I spely that all wrong), if not you must you’ll love it. Bon anniversaire to you two.

  11. Happy anniversary to you and Mr. Lovey! Also, wouldn’t it be more appropriate to name the happy garden, Prickly Happy Garden? The roses are exquisite as is all of the art work. Mr. Snake might really possess the name of Riki-Tiki-Tavi as mentioned by Carolyn. One hopes that “Riki” is simply a corn snake, yes?
Do you never go anywhere without your camera? Your energy is remarkable!
    Christine

  12. Nicole says:

    I envy your garden!

  13. Laura says:

Tea with Elves, what a wonderful distraction from a sore leg! Did they bring along the sweet things? I hope you have a wonderful anniversary filled with fun and loveeee 🙂

  14. sadira says:

I was terribly excited when I realized you have an olive tree!! (Never mind that I had just read it was the peach tree mere seconds before…it really is all the head things going on with me) I think you should just get a lap top for when you are not feeling quite right and then you can recline anywhere you wish…
Happy Lovee anniversary! I hope you were able to celebrate in a fit way…seeing as it’s the pottery and bronze year…

  15. Cassandra says:

Your prints are lovely! What is it about simple things, like pink birdcages, that give us such joy? That was my favorite 🙂

  16. Karla says:

Keep on with the good healing! How can one not be happy after visiting your lovely little world?
    Karla

  17. Jennifer says:

I really like your new prints! I’m quite fond of art that has a vintage-y/modern-y flair.

  18. michelle says:

Hello you sweet thing! You silly girl! You are not horrid for finding some good in being hurt! Sometimes it is sort of nice to have something force us to slow down and take a different look at things. And oh, the tea party! Love it! And the chairs are wonderful too! Happy anniversary, it is our today! We are hoping to play this weekend too. Oh, and my lovely postcards came today, thanks bunches for the extras! You spoil me! Let me know if your girls ever make it , I am a bit worried about them. I just don’t trust the PO after my lost package to Australia! Keep resting that leg so you can play with Mr. Lovee!

  19. I shall have those three prints, thank you oh so much…they can be a late birthday gift?

  20. Donna O. says:

You know me…non-color girl but the framed silhouettes- did I spell that right?- are very fun. Makes me want to sit right down and watch Joni Mitchell with you! (The book is so-so)
    D.
Thanks for the tip on a trip to Lisa’s today. Still laughing…

  21. Marilyn says:

Berlini is too cute! I’m loving your silhouettes too. I need to sell more stuff so I can buy one. 🙂

  22. Joy says:

    AAAAACCCKKK!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot – and I mean CANNOT – get over that snake! You are one brave girl. I would pack up and move FAR away! lol I scream over little baby garter snakes here!
O.K. back to a normal heart beat now…
LOVE the frames. LOVE the colors. You are amazing!
p.s. yes, the painting is now complete and our marriage has survived. Come take a look… 🙂
    Joy

  23. phyllis says:

Those new prints are THE BOMB! (Can we still say that in 2008?)
Yo tengo una problemo con mi ojos and I have double vision Curiosa. So I see two of each piece of your art! Isn’t that great?

  24. Polly says:

First of all, I love, love, love the art that you’ve so kindly shared with us. I can’t wait to print it out and hang it somewhere! Now about the snake… I heard this: red to yellow kill a fellow – red to black venom lack. I haven’t heard anything about yellow to black though =) Blessings… Polly (p.s. check this out for me and tell me your thoughts: socialgracesshared.blogspot.com)

  25. Tricia says:

Oh My! That snake gave me an awful fright! EEEK! I can’t stand those creatures, I don’t like them, except for the fact that they eat rats! And this coming from a gal who grew up on a farm!!!!! Ha!
Lady Vanessa, I’m glad to see you are on the mend with the leg….Thanks to Lovee helping out! Is he keeping the house clean and cooking up lots of dishes for you too! If so, you’ve got a heck of a man there…better keep him another 8 years….times 8!!
Love the prints…yellow, pink and black make a marvelous combination! And those prints of home items – tres chic dahling!
    Lovely roses too!
Hey, why don’t you have a new contest to name your friend the snake!! I’ll name him McCreepy McCrawly! Although we don’t know if he’s a lady snake or a man snake!!

  26. laura says:

The new art is just perfect…Funny, I am usually into bright bright colors and have been moving towards more muted tones.
    Happy Anniversary over there!
I think I would have died if I had a snake experience like yours! It’s pretty, but still…I don’t like surprises from wildlife…
    Love the elf!!!

  27. I love your new wall hangings, especially the bird cage one! There’s nothing wrong with dabbling in all sorts of eras and styles and ideas and dreams! That’s what it’s all about!
    Erin

  28. Heather says:

Oooh, such pretties!!! (well, excluding the snake. sorry snake!) your prints are gorgeous and your roses are looking amazing!

  29. wordcrafter says:

Happy Anniversary! thanks for your message, I left a comment I know, but where? you have so many links, will add THIS link now, to my page. Fantastic, fairy-like work.. It is I who chatters with the elves when I visit your site.. 🙂 thanks. Worcrafter

  30. 3rdEyeMuse says:

are any other days better than the dreamy ones?!? 🙂
In regards to the snake, from what I remember of AZ only rattlers are poisonous, so I’m about 99% sure you have nothing to worry about with your garden guest – don’t get me wrong, it won’t tickle to get bitten and it’s a reptile, so doesn’t brush it’s teeth, but it’s not going to shut down your nervous system and isn’t likely to cause any permanent damage …
the roses are really lovely & Bernini does seem to suit the lil guy. 🙂 enjoy the rest of your down time, but keep on mending.

  31. kate says:

I LOVE the Tea with elves, so gorgeous.
You’re lucky with your friendly snake- if we see a snake in Australia it’s safer to assume it’s a poisonous one because most of them are poisonous. If yours eats rats he sounds rather useful, though.

  32. Sandra says:

I LOve the new prints! Especially the chair! Is that your famous red chair! And Holy Cow, that snake is scary! He looks 20 feet long!
So glad you are feeling better too!
    Sandra Evertson

  33. stacie says:

Gack! Sorry to hear about the tendon…I had a muscle burst on me in Oregon..had me out for a while too…
Feel better soon, but do enjoy the Spring…so pretty!

  34. stephanie says:

What a great excuse to just sit around an make art…you have used your time well 🙂
    x…x

  35. Carole says:

I’ve only recently discovered your blog, and I have to say that I’ve enjoyed reading, and I love your artwork!
I hope you’re up and around again soon.

  36. waterrose says:

Either a king snake or a bull snake. They eat rattlesnakes and other rodents, scorpians…so they are your friend. We had one living on our property for a few weeks last fall…but I didn’t enjoy it, cause I HATE SNAKES! Even now I walk out any door and look to make sure none are in view.

  37. Artbrat says:

Congratulations on your 8 years together! Have a terrific weekend of celebrating.
I would have flipped out if anything had crossed over my foot. I cant stand being startled by that type of thing. If I see them before hand its a different story.

  38. Glad to hear you are relaxing and enjoying yourself. I usually get one bad cold a year and I kind of like it because I rent some cheezy TV series and watch it for three days straight…something I would be ashamed to do in ‘real life’! Can’t wait to see your new dollies! And congrats on your anniversary…maybe some achilles-kissing is in order (heh heh.)

  39. Felicia says:

Your roses are stunning and I love your new work 🙂

  40. Happy Anniversary:)
I dont have a problem with reptiles except for snakes..and ones that make surprise visits! Your garden is gorgeous..reminds me of a pink adobe house we stayed at in Michiocan that had beautiful flowers among the lemon and avocado trees..ahh:)

  41. rochambeau says:

    Hi Vivi,
Sorry to hear you have an ouchy (don’t know how to spell Owowey) But sounds like Mr. Lovee is too a good male nurse! Everything is so festive here like Mr. Berlini, and your new matted prints. Everything except the snake. Poor snake, I’ve never even met him. I’m making prejudgments. Not very nice of me.
Thank you for your comments and email.
    You brighten my day.
    xox
    Constance

  42. Nancy says:

Love the beautiful roses…LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the peaches….and the snake? Yeah, he just needs to go away. 😉
I’m glad to hear you are somewhat up and about and I hope you’re continuing to improve! Just be careful not to overdo!

  43. Oh my, elf cakes and beautiful pictures, muy bonita roses and Senor Belini…muy simpatico!! As for Senor Snake…tell him to vamos…Oh and Mr. Lovee’s hand. Definitely the hand of a pirate.

  44. Your blog is like a yummy dessert, so satisfying and such fun to look at. I hope you are on the mend soon, but maybe you ought to milk it for a while and have some more fun creaing your lovelies 😀

  45. Sioux says:

Glad to hear you’re coming along well. Love all your creations, and those roses are beautiful. Prickly Pear…looks like Texas to me. We have loads of it here! As to the snake, don’t have an idea what kind it is, but if that had happened to me, I’d sill be on top of the house!

  46. BLECH. That snake is icky. I would’ve been vewy vewy scared.
But that rose is my favorite flower color! How lovely!
Your art is divine, of course, too! 🙂
Take care my sweet friend…feel better soon leg!

  47. Oh, ooops, happy MAY DAY!

  48. Paris Parfait says:

Hola, preciosa! I am so behind in visiting, due to my crazed editor cracking the whip. Glad your leg is healing – and that you’re still creating wonderful things, despite the setback! Will chat with you soon. xoxox

  49. Gina says:

I stopped in to see what all you have been up to since the last time I was in blogland, which was months ago!!
Happy Anniversary, hope you have a great time.
The rose are so beautiful. That bush is huge!!! The snake is so so creepy, your pics are beautiful and look perfect in the frames you have picked. Well, off to read more of your older post.
