A little love…

You girls are so much fun.  You inspire me, you fill me with laughter and humor me with my silly stories…  I love my little space here. I enjoy very much visiting with so many of you, either through your blogs or through e-mail (or both).  I don’t mean to get all sappy, but what can I say?  It’s the truth…

I love creating special little spaces.  Mr. Lovee built me a second work bench.  I have decided I will not be painting the surface.  I am leaving the wood he chose… It touches my heart strings…

I put a television and dvd player in the studio.  When I spend 14 hours at a time making jewelry it is good to have a movie in the background. However, while painting I really just stick to music.  I can’t stand a movie on while I am painting.  I don’t know why?

I am smitten with my new work bench.  Mr. Lovee is the bestest ever.  Who knew that the way to my heart would be through a work bench?? No flowers or candies, thanks, but no thanks. But, um, how about a workbench?? Haha!

This is a picture of the opposite side of the studio, in case you were wondering…

Studio

I am trying to recover from a strange food poisoning of sorts since Friday. So, I will keep this short.. But I am working on some new art pieces.. So exciting, and I did have a few visits from some cackling gals this weekend… You will soon find out…

I was chatting with the wonderul Lisa Oceandreamer about Melancholic Sundays.  How I always get a bit of a tinge of sadness on Sunday’s… So, I was thinking, I might have to turn Sunday blog posts into "Sappy Sunday’s." Do any of you get funny Sunday evening feelings?

I will leave you with the lovely Emilie Simon (French). This video reminds me a bit of what my girls might look like if they came to life…  The lovely Beth (who has a wonderful new website) and I are so in love with Emilie.  We are like, song swappers. Always going back & forth sharing music loves…

See you soon!!!!

  1. Sweeeeeeet workbench!!!!!!

  2. Stacie says:

What a beauty…I am the same way! I would rather have a new tool or a nifty set of storage bins any day next to the normal girlie stuff. Sorry to hear about the stomach issues…ugh. I had something wrong with mine this week too…Feel better and I can’t wait to see your new goodies.

  3. sadira says:

How wonderful to have such a great place to work in…whoopie for new creations…and I hope you feel better!

  4. Ky Eliza says:

Ahh, yes, new workbenches are fabulous. My lovely boyfriend built me a gorgeous coffee table last year for my birthday and it was the best present I think I’ve ever received. I love the wider frame shots of your studio, by the way! It’s always neat to see where other people create.

  5. lisa! says:

rusty things! me too! thank you for emily french who i’ve never heard of…mr lovee must whisper those magic words “what can we make next?” which makes a girl like me shiver!

  6. Paris Parfait says:

Mr. Lovee is a true treasure! How wonderful that he made you another work bench! Sorry about the food poisoning; hope you’re much better by now. And E French’s musique is big in Paris! 🙂 xoxox

  7. Chantal says:

I always love reading your stories and so enjoyed having a peep around your studio. A new studio workbench? What a beautiful gift crafted from the heart. I hope you’re feeling much better Vanessa. Hey, this little exiled Frenchie had never heard of Emilie French but liked her video very much!

  8. carolyn says:

Arhh the fabulous Mr Lovee strikes again! Vanessa your a lucky girl.

  9. carole says:

Yes it was a bit short!!!! tehe, but I stayed awhile and played amongst your goodies XXXOOOO hope you feel better soon

  10. sarah says:

I can’t watch tv while I’m sewing either but only really enjoy knitting to a good movie!

  11. Gillian says:

Our friend in Australia, (Lisa Oceandreamer and I visit her often) Robyn, talks about the dark of the moon. When the moon phase is here we all feel down in the dumps. Low energy. Sappy. Meloncholic. It happens every month to me, and every month I am surprised when Robyn reminds me that it is a moon phase. It always passes.
But you are right, there is something about Sundays that makes me nostalgic. Sunday evenings as a child were always quiet, spent with family…getting ready for school the next day. It is almost sad because you know what’s coming…back to reality of Monday morning!
I love this silly, happy space you have created here. Keep up the amazing work!
    xo

Sundays … the day before Monday … it’s like vacation has come to an end…
    Hope your feeling better…

  14. suzie Sews says:

I adore pictures of peoples work areas, especailly people I like. Your a lucky lady to have someone think so much of you to make your workspace, well more space…
Hope your feeling a bit better, being sick is YUK.
    Take care
    Suzie Sews

  15. Cre8Tiva says:

  16. phyllis says:

    I love Sundays!!!
So sweet of Mr. Lovee…he knows how to get you your heart 🙂

  17. Beth says:

Your studio is amazing. It looks like a great space to work in. Is that a rug or is the floor painted like that?! I love it! Yes! I’m obsessed with Emilie Simon 🙂 And that band Cocorosie(sp?) that you suggested is awesome!! I love the album artwork too! Very cool 🙂

  18. Sarah says:

How’s your headache? Any better? I’m nervous for my first day of both work and the play, so you think good thoughts for me and I’ll think them for you! Love you!

  19. Erin Earls says:

So sorry to hear about the food poisoning. Yuck!! I love the Studio/work space. You know I like to watch T.V. when I am doing little things, and can’t move around a lot, but if I am working on something where I am moving, I have the music on. Most of the time I am dancing as I do it. Hope you are feeling better!!
    Love Erin~

  20. Darling girl, I am so sorry you aren’t feeling well, I hope it passes quickly.
What a lovely workbench/studio. I must say I completely agree about the workbench over flowers and candy. G is very handy that way too and will be helping me redo my studio. Gotta love power tools(and the men too of course!)
That video was amazing – I’d never heard of her before. thank you for sharing it.
I have a small TV in my studio but rarely turn it on,I have a DVD player to put in there though when it all gets reconfigured. I have moods of what I like in the background(it’s good to have options)
    Feel better! Love and hugs,
    Lisa
    XOXOXOXOXOXO

  21. stephanie says:

Sappy, Sublime Sunday’s….I like that and Yes….I always feel that way, a wonderful weekend over, back to reality.
Growing up I had a friend who’s family every Sunday had tomato soup and popcorn for dinner, I used to love that…ha! I just remembered that when you spoke of Sundays.
That video is quite wonderful and does remind me of your girls come to life!!

  22. Dave says:

The petite jolie fille in your video is lovely…I never get tired of grown-up girls playing at being a doll.
    xoxo

  35. Kim says:

    Hi there…
Yes… Sunday nights are hard for me. They always have been. Years ago I used to watch 60 minutes and that stupid clock that they have tick, tick, ticking always made me feel more depressed with each little tick.
I just wanted to say that.

  36. if my hubby ever retires from the military then he wants to get all the neccesary things for a woodmaking shop….. I have a question for you… have you seen Mirror Mask?

    When I was very young it was a song of Bob Geldof’s group Boomtownrats,named “I don’t like Mondays”-in my case that is “I don’t like Sundays” 🙂 🙂 🙂

  43. michelle says:

I love visiting your studio! I love seeing where you create. Sometime I think you should have Mr. Lovee take pictures while you do one of the ladies dresses. I would love to see that mess!
