Hi, hi, hiya! I am sooooooo happy to be here. I can not even begin to tell you where my roller-coaster life took me 😉
I have had such a looooong week. I have been stuck in 24 hours (over the course of a three day period), of license renewal for my previous career. I like to keep things in check just in case I one day need it again, and per law, you have to do yucky school things to keep your license in order every two years. It was brutal, awful, horrible. Alas, I have to be prudent and keep things in check. Needless to say, oodles of quizzes and tests later reveals that ~ I am soooooo glad I get to spend time here with you, and I don't want to ever leave 😉
The only way to pop myself back into whimsy world was to go on a doodle binge…
I don't even know how this doodle began, but it kept going and going, until…
It got super full of all sorts of things that make me smile, and then bursted with color…
Much to my surprise, a colorful skelly illustration found its way out of my pencil.
Doodle bright :)
Skelly Love.
My sis gave me approval that she liked it, as she is the skelly pro. She owns more skull love than anyone I know.
I printed one out on canvas, and framed it up…
Mister Lovee thinks I should try a black frame. But, being the girly gal I am, I chose a white viney frame, and hung it in the sleeping nook.
I turned it into a formal print, and ~
Skelly Love, can now be found in my shop.
With that, all I can say is, I am sooooo ecstatic to be back!
Yippppeee YAY!
But, is it really the last week of October?
(I made some caramel apple cake (2nd try was perfection) to help me get through my week. I am using a bit of this lovely gal's apple brownie recipe, and a lot of my own messing with ingredients, including adding caramel. I will let you know more details on the recipe soon, if you want to know it?)
Sorry for midnight photos, but it is the best time for caramel apple cake 🙂
My month blew by so fast, with all its crazy busyness, that I am just blown away.
I sat and hugged my warm jack-o-lantern last night for a long time. Just to try to absorb the rapidly passing days. Sheesh…
They say time goes by faster as you get older, but this is just nuttzz, nuttzz I tell ya…
Father-time has got to slow down 🙂
Will someone, with more authority than I, let him know to slow it down a bit? Please??
Oh, one more thing…
I have to give special props to kind Mister Lovee for all the gifts and flowers, and treats he surprised me with this week. Most of all, for his all around niceness. He really helped me get through it. It was a bit much to have to add all those classes to my days, after the party and the rest of the never ending madness, ya know?
He put a heart locket charm bracelet on me, and told me that "the universe" had sent it. Isn't that funny? I cherish anything he gives me so much. But mostly, I cherish him. Puke puke sappy, right? I know 😉
So with that I will say….
I am so delighted to be back. That rotten real world renewal school stuff makes me appreciate this little happy world here, even more.
Also, I have a TREAT for you, soon.
I might be back with it later, but if not, in the morning for certain 😉

I am older than you by a million years and time only goes by faster…..and no I don’t have clout with Father Time or else I wouldn’t be counting things more closely now than I did when I was younger. And yes the real world is sucky……
The Olde Bagg
Yay, she’s baa-aack! Wow, super impressive skelly doodling! Oh, and that caramel cake! Are you trying to torture us in observance of Halloween? Ha! : ) I may have to try that recipe, and please do tell us how you “tweaked” it. ; ) How sweet that Mr. Lovee knew you needed encouragement and gave you some spirit-lifting gifts.
Dearest Miss V.,
Oh I am sooooooo very happy that you are staying here in this World with us. It just wouldn’t be the same without you.
I am happy for you that you got all your real world school yucky stuff out of the way. Whew! Thats a mouthful.
I am feeling the Skelly Love. Your doodles end up pure magic, and that cake.
Oh my goodness. Every time I see your cooking, I think of Hansel and Gretel and the Gingerbread house. I would be fat and eaten by the witch already if I stopped by. There is so much yummy food there.
Those beautiful gifts by that Mr. Lovee,
what a “charmer”. hehehe. I love the little hearts. Beautiful and sweet.
I hope you are able to relax a little now from all that schoolwork.
Spells and Wishes,
Wendy from Wonderland
I love your skelly doodle! Doodles are the best…and give that Mr Lovey a big smoochy kiss – your charm bracelet is just lovely – lucky girl. Know what you mean about the real world stuff. Man, if I posted what really goes on around here half the time – sheesh! Have a wonderful week, my friend x
Not sappy, just… lovely. So nice to know that someone gets surprise presents all the time. Me? I got a brand new house, so I am not complaining. Today is my 18th wedding anniversary and I am blessed beyond belief to have him in my life. I know exactly how you feel.
Enjoy the day, Miss Vanessa!
Erin
What a fabulously lovely {or should I say “Lovee”} bracelet, Vanessa! 🙂 That caramel apple cake sounds and looks lip smacking good, but I am gluten free so I tend to avoid cake or crust type desserts. I’m also watching what I eat starting tomorrow, as I quit smoking back in May and my metabolism has gone kerplunk! I’ve got an extra 15 pounds on me {having been 123}; that is a lot for me and I need to drop it. So no desserts for awhile for me!
ooohhh i love love love the skelly doodle! so purty! i think it looks lovely with the white frame but would also look lovely with a black frame! 🙂 i’m sorry you had to visit the old world for a few days, but i’m glad you made it back! i have to visit my old ‘business’ world tomorrow for a few hours and am dreading it… i need to find a way to stay here in a world like yours instead of having to ever go back to ‘business’ world…
blessings

Oh I love it too!! You’re too clever–you really are.
Oh how woundrous. Doodles can take you places that you’ve never been before. Always good places of course. Skelly love is wonderful. A whimsical kind of love. The love you can have for that special one in your life, is truly amazing. It is never sappy. Nothing is sappy. It is all how you look at things.
Some of our old haunts are never forgotten, but can lay dormant for a while. Thank goodnss for that.
Love that coulorful skelly
and must try some of that apple cake.
We too wish time would slow down. Its scary
how time flies
D&J xx
I love that skull. Perfect for Halloween. Sorry you have to re-qualify. I have to , too, for payroll certification. That caramel apple pie looks good! Yummmm.
And what is wrong with sappy?
Oh my, I love the Skelly Love! Your doodles are better than any of my “art” could ever be. 🙂 I’m sorry you had such a rough week but glad you tended to that outside world stuff so you could be back here with all of us in Happy Land. Well, really, it is happy most of the time, right? The cake looks like something terribly decadent and yes, please share your recipe.
Mr Lovee did soooo good with the bracelet ~ it is totally beautiful! Flowers are too but I collect hearts and love charm bracelets.
Have a beautiful week ~ you so deserve it! I’m off to check your shop now.
xo

Sooooooo glad you made it through ok….. I know how much you dreaded the whole scenario… real life can be a bummer sometimes …
Loving the skull …. pretty awesome doodle !!
And YES YES YES !! We want the recipe for your cake…
Congrats on finishing … LOADS OF HUGS JO
SO glad you got through your stress. We went to portland for 10 days and I have so missed visiting your blog. Love the skully….and your gifts!
So glad those yucky classes are over Vanessa *deep breath…sigh* 😉 Love your skelly, he’s beautiful! And your pumpkin too.
Jamie 🙂
The skelly she is beautiful beautiful–yep the one world is so sucky I still have 6 and1/2 hours left of CE classes–I will then get back to our world as soon as I can though–some caramel apples sound sooo good too.
Monica
Where to start…with the pretty skelly who is hanging in the most beautiful sleeping nook EVER (btw, I’m currently addicted to the song Cosmic – can’t get enough of it!)…or with the absolutely beautiful bracelet that your sweetie gave to you (he’s definitely a keeper! And not because of the gifts which are nice but he really seems to be your soulmate). Despite the irritation of having to renew your license, it sounds like you are living a wonderfully full and joyful life.
I love day of the dead skeletons, and yours is delightful! Can’t wait to try the scrumptious recipe…thanks for sharing!

wheeeew! i was pushing back time right beside you. i had a week like your week. two weeks even. MAYBE i’m done with the whirlwind. i’m hoping.
it is so fun to see your colors, vanessa. you have a license in manifesting a whimsy universe. that’s no small matter…
p.s. yay mr. lovee
Lovely skeleton… and what a beautiful bracelet bursting with love, lucky you. I really enjoyed your Halloween stuff – I am blogging mine at the weekend…. for those who can’t be there in person I am sending telepathic invitations to be there in spirit – have you picked yours up yet? xxx I love your blog – hope you don’t mind me butting in – but I am now a follower.
It’s nice to wake up to your pretty drawings and winsome thoughts here on the other side of the world. Good morning! Lovely skull and bracelet!
What a lovely skull. It put a smile on my face this rainy morning in North Norway. Thank you!
Your heart bracelt is beautiful.
I love the skeleton.
And what you did with the recipe looks yummy.
I’m ALWAYS taking a part of a couple recipes and blending them together. I’ve thought about adding some chopped marischino cherries and coconut to that recipe.
Glad you finished with those other worldly responsibilities.
Welcome back!! <3
I sort of admire your old job for doing the license renewal thing - always good to know that people know what they're doing! Sounds a bit boring though...
I hope you have the sense of liberation that I feel whenever I think about teaching again!! (even though it could be fun)
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! so you have it!!!
Have what?
Well, I have been looking for my last head scan and here it is! you have just framed it!
😉
I know you once mentioned your old job being very stressful but what was your old job?
Have decided to go freelance with my dollies now. I have been on stage for over 10 years and it was wonderful, then I got “regular” jobs…ugh…now that I am back to my arty life I am much happier but I understand the ” just in case” thing. My Moochoo helps and supports me by the time things get better with my doll projects but…oh…it is so horrible you’re gonna think…but with the age gap…I always fear…
Well…I’d better not think about it. Silly thoughts.
I go have another look at my framed scan!
😉
what an awesome doodle. It cheered me up so much. Oh Mister Lovee sounds like one in a million. Isnt it great when our partners cheer us up like that. ITs nice to know that they notice our bad times like we notice theirs. Hugs Sara
I’va made a paper maché mexican skull, you can see it on my blog !

What a fun blog to stop into for awhile! You’re very talented!

Even your doodles sweet Vanessa showcase your amazing Artistic talent! So glad you got through your required renewals with your sense of humor intact… how sweet of your beloved to spoil you at just the right time to make you feel refreshed and cherished! I love sappy sappy love stories. *wink*
Dawn… The Bohemian
Vanessa, you always make my heart feel better, god bless you. 😉
Hi Vanessa,
I have a question. I am interested in trying to make clay sculptures, figurines. . . but I have no idea where to start. I have no clue what I should start with. Can you give me a few pointers about materials? You are such an inspiration to me and many others. My imagination has been fed by your blog for a while now and I love checking in on you and your lovely family.
Thanks
Wende
Oh love love love the skelly! Me thinks the skelly was guiding you…she wanted to live in your sleeping nook all along. Actually, so do I. That is a most beautiful bracelet given by a most wonderful Mister. I had to quickly scan through your food photos, for in my dotage I only require 3 calories per day. **blows kisses** Deb
sometimes the world surprises us by giving us exactly what we need. it’s not sappy to love someone, and to be loved right back! (and the skelly’s lovely, too!)
You are so very inspring! I love your sugar skull!! 😀
Can i ask what you use to color your pictures with?
How cool is that? What I wouldn’t give to be able to slow down the passing of time. Each time I spot another gray hair I pluck it! My husband says every time I pull one, two or three come in to mourn for their lost friend. Hahaha! Silly hubby. ~Miranda sends hugs~ 🙂
Hi Vanessa:
I just really stopped by to say “thank you”. I haven’t been blogging much lately, or even visiting other blogs. I’m in a sort of “funk”…feeling sad. But, I know that I can always come here and read about whatever fabulous, colorful thing you have going on…and I always leave feeling better than when I signed on.
So, simply, “thank you” for giving me little pieces of time and blurbs of color that make me smile for a few moments. You do my heart good!

Gerushia’s New World
What a beautiful Skellie…you are so talented!
I’m glad you’re back, too! That studying can be brutal. But your skelly is fantastic and fun and nice to see. I have almost missed Halloween this year!
Your heart locket, charm bracelet is gorgeous! I am sure it took your mind off your grueling tests! What a precious man you have!
And your ‘Skelly Love’ doodle is a masterpiece.
Kind of takes me back to the late 1960’s and the flower power days where everything imaginable was embellished with neon colored flowers, bright colors everywhere, ‘flowers in her hair’…
And the luscious looking caramel apple cake! Yummmm!
I luvvv this time of year! And I too wish Mr. Time would slow down so we could enjoy the crisp air.
Cheers!
Miss Teresa
I LOVED all of that, how was the apple brownie? I got her recipe also, and asked about making it if you did not have a cast iron pan, she didn’t answer me…can you help me?
love your sugar skulls and masks!!
Susan
This skelly is SOOOOO lovely! I love the bold vibrant colors very much. You did a wonderful job, Miss Vanessa! That caramel apple dessert looks mighty yummy – send some on over here, please. 🙂 I might like to ask for seconds – if there is any left! 😉 Mr. Lovey is so thoughtful – what a beautiful gift to help you get through a stressful week. 🙂 It’s the little things like that which can mean so much. 🙂 Your jack ‘o lantern is oh so sweet. We are going to carve our pumpkins this week. We know what one will be – still working on ideas for the bigger one. Have a wonderful day! Theresa xoxo
I have to take classes to renew my teacher’s credential so I totally understand how you feel. One of the first times was when my daughter was a toddler and I had to leave the happy baby playing time to go and take classes. yuck!!
What was your previous career? I used to teach 2nd grade but between budget cuts and my fibro I’m not teaching now.
Hi Pud!
Sorry for being gone so long, frantically catching up with all the beauty and visual lovliness you dole up here in heaping helpings every so often!!!
My goodness I must find more time to bloggie!!
I ordered Skelly Love and can’t wait to frame it up and celebrate Dia all year long (like always anyways, you know)
Thanks for your artistic contributions to my happy life xoxoxo I love you so!!!
