Witches

I think it's time to fully jump into Halloween mode.

I mean fully - witches, ghosts, goblins.

The whole enchilada.

Yes?

Also…

I am sooo excited!

My paper spider web tutorial is the craft of the day over in…

The home section of The Huffington Post.

Fun!

Paper spider webs

It reminds me, must make more spider webs myself, as they are sooo fun and easy!!!

Here is the tutorial.

Also…

I am feeling extraordinarily Witchy…

Like my hat?

🙂

Witch Spell 2

I wonder why my cackle runneth over?

Witch Spell 6

Must be the witches.

All frocked up, right in the nick of time!!

They are ready to party.

Well, technically, witches hang out all year in my world.

But, we can pretend they just flew in, no?

Mathilde is keeping them company on the wall, whilst searching for a new home…

As they get cozy in their cottage abode.

Witch Spell 7

I love those witches.

For some reason, they give me some sort of mom comfort.

(my sis made the flag banners, love em!)

Witch Spell 4

I think we really need some new fantastical witch tale movies.

Don't you?

I loved that one with Angelica Houston, The Witches.

And of course, Practical Magic and Hocus Pocus.

I need a new one.

Pronto!

A&E has a great Ancient Mysteries – Witches episode you can Netflix.

Oooooooo!!!

Witch Spell 3

Also, we are literally, down to the wire for me to ship out Halloween cards and labels.

If I pop Spell and Potion labels in the mail in the next couple days I can get them to you for Halloween.

I am getting that question a lot.

I think we have a couple days wiggle room.

So, if you want some, here they are 😉

Witch Spells 1

Bwahahahaha!!

Party in 5 days, fainting…!

I have nary and idea of what I am going to whip up.

I know, last minute Laree.

Not to be confused with Larry.

Off I go for now.

Must make some party plans on the double!!

Eeeeeks!

Sparkly heart

ps:  I was watering in the garden this morning, when a butterfly swooped around, flailed and landed on this flower – taking it's last breath…sigh…

Tattered beauty.

Is it just me, or can you see the butterfly ghost looming?

Tattered Butterfly

  9. Rachel says:

Congratulations V on being in the Huffington post, that’s fab!
I’m feeling a bit down in the dumps today so a little bit of witchy magic is just what I need.
The photo of the butterfly has such a melancoly beauty to it. I see the butterfly ghost too, makes it all the more touching.

  10. Emalina says:

Congrats on that piece in Huffington Post Vanessa! OOoooooOOOhhhh I’m feeling witchy too! Can’t wait for the parties very soon x

  11. I love your witches all on their own, Vanessa! I love seeing them when you share them in a post. A witch’s hat is just the icing on the cake in this case! Congrats on your web tutorial feature.

  12. Jessica says:

This post is actually quite a coincidence because in English, we are beginning to read the Crucible…we started with the introduction to the play and movie, and how the Salem witch trials tied in with the 1950s communism hysteria. It’s so interesting to think that people actually believed in witches. I mean truly believed they were real. Now, we view them as figures of Halloween, symbols of spookiness, but it’s usually in fun. I love learning about the history of witches and how they came about. Even though the Salem witch trials were only a smaller piece of the mass hysteria that took over Europe during the mid-1600s, it’s still so interesting to discover the roots of where witches evolved. But it’s also scary too because people were being wrongfully accused of being witches and practicing dark magic, and they were afraid to go against accusations because reality was not valued; people would rather admit to being witches and save their lives than lie and be hanged. It was a vicious, never-ending cycle.
Sorry I get so caught up in this stuff 🙂 It’s fascinating! Have you ever read or watched the Crucible?

  13. Betsy Bailey says:

I am getting so excited for Halloween and witches as well. I am even excited for Halloween next year. I have been thinking ahead, lol. I can’t wait for Saturday!!

Catherine Bell. If you want the two after that, I can send it to via e-mail.
There are five movies so far. I’ve only gotten to see the first three since I don’t have Hallmark tv anymore

  17. Anne M. Kelly says:

Yes…was just going to add the same info…”The Good Witch” movies on Hallmark Channel! They are charming and lovely! They are showing all of them this Saturday, 10/27 – all day marathon on Hallmark. Catherine Bell…beautiful witch!
Vanessa…as usual, just enchanting and comforting. Congrats on Huffington…terrific; job well done!

  18. Jenn says:

Hmmm, might the Halloween party be taking place in the cottage? That would be incredible if I may say 😉 I must agree with Anne and Shell! I LOVEEEEE the Good Witch movies too! They’re all filmed in Canada with a ton of Canadian actors as well, and yes Catherine Bell is stunning!

  20. There isn’t a Halloween celebration without some amazing banners on display. It’s always been there and it should always be. It’s a huge part of this tradition and I hope it stays that way for a very long time.
