Wilfred & Maude {+ friends}

So, I thought today would be a perfect day to tell you a tale about Wilfred and Maude.  I am in a funny little curious mood, and orange garden globes are a must at this very moment…

Pumpkin head 11

You see, there was this time, where this massive huge vine was growing with 14 inch wide leaves that stretched 17 inches+  long….

Pumpkin head 1

I often wondered how such a very hearty and long vine could have no babies.

I pondered.

Waited.

Wondered some more.

And then, one day….

Pumpkin head 2

Lo and behold, two large punkin' heads peeked out.

What tricksters!

I was so certain, with all my poking around, that there were no babies.

Now, the one on the upper left (above), that is Wilfred.

And, can I just say, Wilfred was a big growing baby.

Pumpkin head 3

He had a rugged look.

Strong, tough, handsome.

Maude was a bit smaller, smooth, gentle…

Pumpkin head 4

Isn't it so nice that they had each other to grow up with?

I am sure days feel like years to pumpkins 🙂

Pumpkin head 5

I really hated to cut them off the vine.

They seemed so happy, but the buglings were trying to get inside of them, so, it was time to begin collecting…

Pumpkin head 7

I have lots of mini pumpkins this year.

They are second generation, which means, in 2009 I bought tiny pumpkins, saved their rotten little bodies until spring, planted their seeds.  Had babies from them in 2010, took those 2010 pumpkins, saved them until spring, planted their seeds, and voila, 2nd generation in 2011.

They get tinier and tinier, wonderful!

Don't forget, buy any beautiful store bought squash/pumpkins, use them for decor all autumn and winter, and then use the seeds in spring to grow your own squash.  It's grand I tell ya, just grand.

Pumpkin head 8

Pumpkin collecting days are so much fun around here.  We have had several this summer, and will have one more batch full in a week or so.

Pumpkin head 9

Then, the pumpkin season is over on our pad of earth.  Until next year.  This summer has been the longest foggiest time ever.  Foggy brain wise, with heat I really never recall experiencing?

I have cooked lots of pumpkins and put their pureed selves in the freezer.  Our freezer is stuffed with corn and okra and pumpkin.

I just love the littles!

Pumpkin head 10

Makes me happy.

Sure does.

Pumpkin head 6

I am planning for next year.  Moving my patches, working on all the things you have to do when you grow pesticide free, and the pumpkin bugs find you.

Pumpkin head 14

My brain is bursting with vegetable gardening knowledge, and things yet to learn.

Have you seen Vanishing of the Bees

You must, if you ask me. (you can Netflix it)

I am ferociously intent on making sure bees have a place to get happy in my garden.  With a variety of different plants to keep them healthy.

(I loved when the bees visited us here)

Garden veggies

Help the bees in your own garden if you can, even on your apartment porch, won'tcha?  If you can, try to stick to organic edibles when shopping (I know, it's very hard, but we can try little by little, can't we?).  It is our way of doing any tiny bit we can to help the planet, and keep ourselves healthy too.  Systemic pesticides are scary (all are, but those get my attention the most)!

Hug a pumpkin 😉

Pumpkin head 12

If you want to talk about changes in people…..

I went from Platforms to Earthworms!

That's my new self description 😉

Platforms to Earthworms…

Who would have thunk? (is that a word?)

By the way, Wilfred and Maude have reminded me, we have a Halloween party to talk about asap.  Are you game?

Next week we have all sorts of fun things to chat about.  Treats up my sleeve too.

Soooo, with that I say, have a glorious Labor day weekend if you are in the USA, and stay safe!!

We'll be eating the last of the little garden watermelons, summer is beginning its descent, yay!

Pumpkin head 13

It was good, but I am ready for a change.

Pumpkin head 15

I am off to Le Poste…

Random Thoughts Alert ~

I was up until 2:53 a.m. last night finishing parcel packaging.  The most curious thoughts dance in your head, in the wee hours of the night, whilst working along.  I realized that my girlish heart has changed, and become more sensible.

During this self to self conversation at 2 a.m., it was brought to my attention that, I am no longer in love with Bryan Ferry and Mickey Rourke.  Sorry Mickey, you can't come to my house and have cookies after-all.  I changed my mind.  I like them both of course, but as far as sharing my heart with them.  I outgrew them.  Oops.

😉

Who knows, I might change my mind in a couple of hours.  I am just that kind of girl.  "Love Kiss and Tell," I know, cheesewhiz.  It's my thing.  I am not ashamed, wink.

Will you pretty pretty please, share your secret famous crush with me (and what you like about that person)?? Please?  Oh, this could get good!  I am dying to hear!  It doesn't 't have to be profound.  I have fallen in love over interesting teeth before.

See you sooooon!

Love, V

A sparkly heart

  1. Aleksandra says:

Oh, Vanessa, I must admit that my favorite secret famous crush is Alan Rickman. I know he’s much to old for this 25-year-old and taken besides, but that voice! I could listen to him read the phone book. I fell in love after watching the fabulous BBC version of “Sense and Sensibility.”

  2. OH!! I LOOOOVE Alan too. Sigh. I have always loved older men. And now I have my very own, Mister Lovee 😉
You can have Alan, but watch out, I have my eye on him too, haha!
    tee heeee!
Ps: Oh, what about Gabriel Byrne!!? swoooooon!

  3. Alia says:

Haha I like Alan too! But my main secret crush is Andrew Lee Potts. He is British and SUPER adorable. If you haven’t seen “Alice” the sy-fy original you must watch asap!
ps. Um so my one stray pumpkin plant is going strong, but all the little sprouts in the pot where I put the actual pumpkin and all the seeds are looking less and less like pumpkin plants. I have no idea what else they could be though since I did not plant anything else in that pot. Do baby pumpkin leaves ever look a lot different from big pumpkin plant leaves? I am mystified.

  4. stacy says:

Platforms to Earthworms…that’s a new blog for you…

  5. wendy says:

Sigh! Richard Armitage. Tall, dark and beautifully, vulnerably, brooding British actor. Also an amazing choice to read the phone book with his rich, sultry voice!
Alan Rickman, Andrew Lee Potts, Bryan Ferry and Richard Armitage–what a divine tea party! 😉
Happy to be among women with such fine taste.

  6. Sarah says:

Interesting and understandable choices. My all time famous crush is Bill Nighy. Particularly his voice. I love it!

  7. Cori G. says:

Too many thoughts rolling around in my head, so, me has not finished reading your post but thought I must comment before me thoughts flee. I WAS JUST THINKING OF THEE!!!! Hubby lost his job last week and so we decided to build some vegi beds and grow our own wee food, BUT! And I say a BIG BUT!!! There are so few bees in my garden this year and it made me sad, SO we have decided to build and keep our own bees. That’s why I was thinking of you…me thought to myself, “hum, me wonders if me Beloved Fanciful Friendling as thought about keeping bees?” Hast thou, indeed thought of keeping bees? We could share bee stories while sipping tea…Ooh pass the honey please!!!
I have a friend who once had 5 hives and she said keeping bees is one of the most wonderful things. She’s going to teach me how :-)…OK, now back to my reading

  8. Cori G. says:

    oops! I see a few typos “-O

  9. Cori G. says:

Oh! I just finished reading your post and I’d have to say my secret famous LoVe would be Dan Fogelberg. I often thought he lived in my dreams and wrote what he saw in my heart of hearts. Alas for he left us way to soon. My other love would have to be that lovely Scottish man who played Phantom of the Opera Gerard Butler. I love Him to pieces, but don’t tell my hubby. Oh never mind he already knows. I think his accent is pure heaven and can that man sing!!!! heehee…love me

  10. Christine says:

Love the pumpkins Vanessa! You are always at least a season ahead of us down there in Arizona (our roses and hollyhocks are just now in bloom). I did see vanishing of the bees and am eager to see Queen of the Sun http://www.queenofthesun.com (it still hasn’t come this way).
I had the same realization as you did about two years ago regarding my secret crush. U2 has been my favorite band since 1984 and my lifelong crush was Bono (circa 1984 Unforgettable Fire documentary when he was all sincerity and passion). I was lucky enough to meet him and all but I realized my crush sort of ended about two years ago..ah well:) The new secret crush is Thomas Kretschmann. I saw him in the Celestine Prophecy (interesting book, but the movie, well not so much) and thought his character was…sincere and passionate. And he does remind me a little of a younger Bono..hehe:P
Have a wonderful holiday weekend with Mr. L and the furry kids:)

  11. Cori-love, I didn’t see the typos at all. Yes, Bees are on the list, I can’t believe it, we are working in unison!!! SOoooo sorry about hubby’s job. Sniffles. LOVE, from me.

  12. Christine says:

Here’s the proper link for Queen of the Sun:
    http://www.queenofthesun.com/

  13. Christine, I was such a Bono/Sting girl, fortress around you heart faint faint. Oh and, let’s not forget the Billy Idol years 😉 eyes without a face loveness.
I loved younger Mickey Rourke, and had been willing to bake cookies for the change-ed face version. Alas, his bad boy self is freaking me out. So, we’re setting that bumblecake free 😉
I wait in anticipation for Queen of the Sun as well!
When I was 19/20? working in a gallery, we played the soundtrack to celestine prophecy all day, I was addicted, and the tunes are engrained into me. Some of them make me feel like a flying creature in the jungle, silly, I know.
I think my heart still loves Dave Gahan though.
    Yes yes indeed.

  14. Wendy! – A divine tea party indeed, whooo, you are right on the money.
Would we be swooning like silly school girls or what? haha!

  15. Alia, some baby punkins can look like baby hollyhocks, sometimes….. 😉

  16. Ann says:

    Vanessa,
I’ve had several secret famous crushes over the years, one being Elliot of Law and Order SVU. He’s a tough guy with a soft heart and loves to catch predators who pray on the innocent. Then, goodbye to Elliot and hello to Steve Carell’s character on The Office, Michael Scott. My crush for Michael Scott was driven by his constant ability to make me laugh hysterically over and over without fail. I loved his innocence in always saying the wrong things with only the best intentions. Now Michael Scott has run off the show with Holly, so my latest secret famous crush is Mike of American Pickers. I LOVE him. He loves stuff, has such knowledge of antiques, is quite humorous as well, and I think he is just so darn cute! I think it would be great fun to go searching for hidden treasures with him!
A gardening question for you – This is my first year growing pumpkins and mine are almost ready to harvest. If I want to use the seeds for next year do I have to keep the entire rotten pumpkin around until spring or can I get the seeds out, let them dry, and then plant them next year? Will they really grow? I am so excited about my pumpkins and would love to have a second generation for next year.
    Have a great holiday weekend!
    Ann

  17. Ann says:

In my post, I meant prey, not pray. I am a teacher and had to acknowledge that I KNOW it was a typo! Thanks!
    Ann

  18. DogsMom says:

Christian Kane – need I say more?
He gets better as he ages.
If only I was aging in reverse…

  19. Queenie Believe says:

Ahhhhhhh Alan Rickman… Yummy!!! He is the king of the prgnant pause. Loved him in Sense and Sensibility… Could there be a better Professor Snape?… Nope! I find him to be on the gourmet pallet end of the secret famous crush odometer. You know, for special occasions and the like. As an everyday meat and potatoes secret famous crush mine would be, Nicolas Cage.

  20. I find this quite intriguing, to say the least, that so many of us are ‘drawn’ to Alan Rickman…he is an amazing actor and has that mysterious mystic about him that makes you NOT be able to figure him out. Charming to say the least! I have dreamed about Johnny Depp and Tom Cruise too, funny, funny!

  21. Vanessa…
Your pumpkins are making me all giddy for autumn. It’s still so very hot here in So. California. Up into the 100s again next week.
Ahhh…crushes. I am a master at celebrity crushes. I have to admit, I still have a wee crush on Bryan Ferry. I saw him “in real life” during his “red leather suit period” and he was so dreamy. I have a little crush on Andy Griffith as Sheriff Taylor. I adore Brian Haner Jr., King Arthur, Ricky Ricardo when he wasn’t spanking or be-littling Lucy, Batman, Maxfield Parrish, little bits of Richard Gere and of course, Alan Rickman. I even admit to loving Johnny Depp before he was so cool! Ohhh…and Peter O’Toole. :)…and my second grade teacher, Mr. Picon.
    Kim
    Gerushia’s New World

  22. Ohhhh….and my tattoo guy, Dan Smith. And…there’s a really cute fireman that jogs in the park at the same time I do (but he’s not famous). I love men that hold a woman’s face in both his hands. Ohhh, and I really adore Ron Perlman as Beast from the series “Beauty and the Beast”.
    xoxo

    Gerushia’s New World

  23. Danni says:

I’m another lover of Mr. Alan Rickman. His voice, his smirk… I’ve been smitten since Robin Hood and fell all over again after the latest Harry Potter movie. There’s just something so very dreamy about him, that I can’t quite describe.
I also have a wee bit of a thing for David Tennant, I suppose maybe I just love those British men? If ever someone could come sweep me off on an adventure through Time and Space though, it would be David with his adorably mussed hair!

  24. YOU girls!!!
    What men you weave 😉
I just decided today that I have a small thing for Bradley Cooper. He is a bit sweet for my taste. But cute, no?

  25. Theresa says:

Happy September, Vanessa! I am so very sorry for my delay in visiting with you. But oh what a treat I got! Lots of luscious pumpkin love. I DO want to hug a pumpkin today (and I shall care not what people think of it)! I shall try and do what you suggest about the mini pumpkins…how wonderful it would be to have my own home-grown. And I notice that Miles and Matty are most curious about the lovely gourds, too!
My crush (not so secret) is Viggo Mortensen. He is intense and sexy and rugged. He is also somewhat of a renaissance man…actor, writer, poet, photographer, musician, animal activist…and very well-spoken and intelligent. My hubby knows of this obsession…LOL He has his own, so we are quite even in that arena! And he’s my own personal renaissance man obsession!

  26. Cinnibonbon says:

Wonderful post–one of my favorite of yours. I’m in the holiday spirit and this just adds to my excitement!!! I hope you have a lovely weekend.

  27. Betsy Bailey says:

Your pumpkins are gorgeous!! Makes me ready for Autumn. 🙂
Yay Halloween party. I am already planning and I don’t even know when it’s happening. lol.
My secret crush is Matt Smith, the current Dr.Who. He can be both sexy and dorky, sometimes at the same time.

  28. Leah Adams says:

There was this gentleman at this wildlife sanctuary in Tennessee. He was tall, dark & handsome. He had the perfect build. He had been in the Marines. He had many tattoos in multiple languages, most of them dead, on his arms, including Sanskrit, Akkadian & Ancient Egyptian. He could read each language. He spoke five languages, and read seven. The darkness of his skin told you that he loved to be outside, from the strength of his body that he did hard work, from the love in his eyes and the tales he told about the animals that he really truly loved them. He was affectionate with all of them, and they with him, except the black panther, with whom he had a love/hate relationship. All the animals needed to touch him and pet him. He had a quick wit & a wonderful sense of humor. He is why I took the tour of the place that they gave at the end of the day. That is my secret crush. That was the only day that I saw him. I don’t even know his name.
Also, I love your garden! You give me hope that one day, mine will be like yours. I’m fighting 30 years of monthly chemical sprays that the former owner used to get rid of all the bugs & weeds and make the grass grow. That plus the drought makes unhappy plants. But soon!

  29. Leah Adams says:

And I must say, Alan Rickman is a huge favorite as well!

  30. Oh Leah!! INTENSE!!!! Makes one wonder…..What if?

  31. Jackie says:

Alan Rickman. Makes us old broads quiver. Snippet of gardening advice, if you place your pumpkins and melons on straw, hay or lightweight cardboard, the bacteria in the soil won’t get to them before they ripen and cause them to rot.:-) TPL

  32. Kelly says:

What an interesting mix of topics Miss Vanessa! Your pumpkins are just perfect and have me dreaming of cooler days of fall festivities.
I too have been very concerned about the bees disappearing every summer. We must take on a crusade for these important creatures! Thank you, for bringing it to light because it does affect all of mankind.
Now about crushes, I too have felt a secret bit towards, Colin Firth and Alan Rickman. I have to say my super crush as of late is David Tennant and Nick Simmons (I am too old for these guys and OMGoshh, does that make me a cougar!
Music wise, the late Eddie Rabbit and also Dan Folgelberg , they graced this world with such talent. Mr. Folgelberg sang for many causes of planet earth. Please listen to “Blind to the Truth”; it is a very powerful song!
Have a safe enjoyable weekend with the boys! 😉

  33. Miss Jackie, you are so right! I actually bought one of my hay bales just for that. Boy does it make me sneeze 😉

  34. Roselie says:

Crush? Hmm I ‘d say Katja Nyberg. (Finnish-Norwegian handball player). She is so sweet and shy and I love her smile.

  35. amy boelter says:

I just love all your posts Vanessa. I have had a really tough year, struggling with severe depression and anxiety.I couldnt even get myself to do anything on my blog for months.( I recently just started blogging again) and am hopeful that I can continue on a regular basis once again to enjoy this wonderful little piece of my world that is so creative and fun! I just love all your fanciful, fun tales, they help me through my days!!I am an avid dog lover and love your stories of your precious pups. I have a bassett hound, named Daisymae who is very delightful in soo many ways!! They really are members of our family arent they? They know all about us and love us uncondionally anyway. A few of my crushes include Tom Selleck who I think is so classically handsome as well as George Clooney. They both are just soo timeless in their looks. A much younger crush would be Robert Pattinson from the Twilight movies which I just love!! Well, I have babbled on for a long time, but just wanted you to know how much I love your posts! They are soo fun and fairytale like! Much love, Amy

  36. Elizabeth says:

My older-but-still-hot crush, would be Jack McCoy, DA on Law and Order…intense and intelligent, wow! Then my Cougar Crush would be Alex O’Laughlin, recently playing Steve McGarret on remake of Hawaii-5O. He’s an Aussie, but acts without his accent…WHY DO THEY DO THAT??!! Aussie Accents are mesmerizing…Thanks for your great posts, V, as we in the states wait impatiently for Autumn 🙂

  37. Trish says:

I would have to say for right now..Hugh Jackman…Watching him in Australia..It was EPIC :-)Also Dan Fogelburg,Jackson Browne. For the young side..Alex O’Laughlin too. I didn’t even know he was an Aussie…
Love your posts..They always make me smile

  38. Linda P. says:

Hubby, son, and I went out this morning looking and buying a few things for backyard beautification. We have a good-sized area that is basically dirt, and we are trying to make it more attractive. Hmmm, ANYTHING would be more attractive than dirt, I’m thinkin.’ As we buy and plan, I must tell you that I get inspiration from YOU. It will be a work in progress. May take a while to figure out exactly what the end product will be, but at least we are getting started!

  39. Kathy says:

Oh yeah. It’s Alex O’Loughlin. Fell in love with that boy watching Moonlight. Then they cancelled it. Love him in Hawaii 5-0. He can park his boots next to my bed any day!! LOL
Love the punkins. Love the punkin talk from you!! Can’t wait for the Halloween party. You do such a wonderful job of it all. AND – we’ve missed the gypsy wagon. I know it’s probably been to hot to play in but I hope you feature it again, soon!! :o)
    Have a wonderful weekend.
    Kathy

  40. It’s John Cusack….was in the 80’s and still is. I just love his kooky cute, boy next door thing. Sigh.

  41. Cori G. says:

    LoVe Me

  42. Kim says:

Hello Miss Valencia! How cute your pumpkins are! I adore the mini ones especially!
Oh the wee hours of the morning and alone with our thoughts! The other ni I was up till 3 am!
I’ve had a few crushes along the way. My crushes typically involve long haired men with facial hair and about 20 years older then me 🙂 I have liked Antonio Banderas in his Desperado days, Andy Garcia, Sylvester Stallone in his Cobra days.
And most recently, Scott Adkins, he isn’t particularly well known and can be found in many martial art themed movies. I have been fascinated with martial arts since I was a little girl, so I have always had a soft spot for men who practice martial arts and Scott Adkins is just so cute, strong, and has a dreamy accent!
    Have a lovely weekend!
    Take care!!
    Sincerely,
    Miss Palencia

  43. Renee says:

I love the pumpkin tale. I must grow pumpkins next year. I’m so ready for fall. Need to get my fall decorations out. We are supposed to get rain here on Sun and Mon-first time in over a month for rain.
Secret crush well it started with many years ago with the Fonz (many years ago) I always liked that tough guy with the leather jacket.
Now it has to be Sean Connery and Matthew McConaughy. I’ll watch anything with Matthew in it. Sean has just gotten better with age (like my hubby).

  44. Rachel Smith says:

I’m with Wendy on this one. Richard Armitage is my celebrity crush. All that tall, dark and handsome yumminess *sigh*.
So glad you mentioned the Halloween party, I can’t wait to find out the date, am already starting to make plans! 🙂

  46. lisa skiles says:

Have you tried wrapping the very base of the pumpkin vine (where it touches the ground) with aluminum foil? Do this as soon as you see your first blossom to outwit the evil squash borers.
    Let me see now….
Mel Gibson before he got chunky and crazy.
    Hugs,
    Lisa

  47. AWESOME tip Lisa!!!! Thank yoU!!

  48. Shell says:

My longest and most intense secret famous crush is on Mark Hamill. I have loved him since I was eight years old. I’ve seen all his movies and guest starring roles on tv. I’m excited that he is going to be on Chuck (I don’t watch the show,I will now) and doing some movies now.
Even now, just thinking about him I get a goofy smile. I got to meet him back in ’96, he was so sweet to me. I even got a autograph from him. He is going to be at the comic con here in New York. I’m trying to go so I can get another autograph and picture.

  49. Lisa says:

Vanessa – What a fun question! I loved reading who everyone’s celeb crushes are. I have to admit, I love me some Mr. Ferry, too, but my longest standing celeb crush is Daniel Ash. His profile leaves me a bit weak in the knees. The latest celeb to add to my pile of celeb crushes is Clive Owen.

  50. Dawn says:

Vanessa, sadly I crush very easily if I find someone talented, romantic or just plain gorgeous. My main celebrity crush since I was a girl is Rick Springfield. I’ve had the pleasure of going to several of his concerts and I actually got to TOUCH him on a couple of occasions which made me swoon like a little girl. My hubby was also with me! Next musician is Jon Bon Jovi & Richie Sambora. I’ve been to 7 Bon Jovi concerts and a Richie Sambora concert and it was heaven every time! My movie/t.v. crush is David Boreanaz from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Bones. And am I considered a cougar if I crush on Zac Efron? My daughter thinks so. He’s so beautiful. Oh well, now I gotta take a cold shower LOL!
Thanks for letting my young girl out…hee hee.

  51. Alia says:

Ooh I adore Matt Smith too! I like David Tenant as well of course, but ever since he became the 11th Doctor Matt has stolen place in my heart!
(It may or may not have to do with the fact that I was recently in a situation in which Matt Smith Handed me a burrito in a cardboard sleeve that had a picture of the TARDIS on it and called me “my lady” in a way only a charming British gentleman can!!)

  52. Thank you. What a treat to see the melons and pumpkins. Now are those cute dogs nosey or what? Did they miss anything? I don’t think so… 🙂

  53. Cameron says:

    Secret crush….hmmm…
That’s hard, not because I can’t think of anyone, but because I rarely keep things like that a secret….haha!
Back in the day, it was Billy Zane…..loved his dark hair and eyes….and Kerry Elwes from Princess Bride!! As I wish….heck ya…haha!
    Also love Ryan Reynolds (yum!)
I’m trying harder not to lurk about here as much! Don’t get me wrong, I never miss a post….just don’t always take the time to tell you how special you are. I know you know….but still nice to hear, right?!
Can’t wait for the Halloween event of the year to be announced…heehee!

  54. Julia says:

Vanessa, your pumpkins are KNOCK-OUT! Love them 🙂 The word party makes me shiver!!!Halloween Party? YES! Game On! Fun!
Age wise, I’m ahead of you gals but here are mine:
First EVER crush was Kurt Russell. I was a small girl~Disney came on the television every Sunday night…He’s still got it as far as I’m concerned 🙂 I always loved his smile. There was something about his demeanor that just struck me straight through. Musician crushes are John Cougar-Mellencamp, that swagger and his attitude & Joe Payne (unknown but soul-wrenching) Joe was one of those charasmatic Leo men that everyone was just naturally drawn to, just enjoyed his company. And a great musician. And eyes that looked right into your soul…Big SIGH…..

  55. The pumpkins are glorious. Mine are all dead. Every last single one. Sniff.
Mickey Rourke has gotten scary, no?
He was amazing in “The Wrestler”, but I could neve ever have even a tiny crush on him after that.

  56. Laura, remember him early on??? He was amazing!!

  57. Ann, you can rinse, dry and save your seeds. But I just let my
pumpkins wilt away, and normally, they do not really start to rot, until right
before i have to plant them in Spring. Then i just break the pumpkin open,
and plant the slimey seeds. The one thing I will say is that, 2nd
generation pumpkins get smaller and smaller 😉

  58. Laume says:

We always have bees and butterflies and other creeping and flying creatures in our gardens, but this year, you’ll be happy to hear, was definitely The Year of the Buzzlebees! So many bees, so many different TYPES of bees, more than I ever knew we had around here. My garden literally hummed with their busy work all summer long. I was happy to know they found our little spot a haven.

  59. Tiff says:

I love a sweet, southern gentleman. Calloused hands. Strapping in build. Deep voice. Tender eyes. Harry Connick, Jr. and Blake Shelton are my men of choice for this type.
My OTHER type…(*wink, I’m terrible aren’t I?) would be dark and mysterious. Artistic. A little offbeat. Eyes that could make you melt. Someone that would read me bedtime stories. Johnny Depp, of course! Even Javier Bardem would be lovely. Yum!
