Hiding out in that little place…
A place where there is full permission to enjoy the whimsies of your heart.
Where your adult self enjoys your child self more than you did back then.
A cottage in the garden.
A ladder to cozy reading dreams.
Where there are no rules of age or time.
I don't believe in that at all.
Such rules are not allowed in my hiding place.
(or anywhere else in my tiny world if I can help it)
I don't believe in being boxed in.
I don't believe in time age limits or constraints.
Yuck yuck yuck.
No sirree.
Do what you want to do, I say.
Be who you want to be.
Don't do anything you don't want to do, if it can be helped.
Love what and who you want to love.
Hey, if you cry as you kiss gifted pumpkin babes good-bye, so be it.
🙂
Have a hiding place, even if it's on a shelf.
A place for tattered little shoes and nests that fall out of trees.
Clocks that tell no time.
Shelves that hold things dear to you.
Nonsense of the heart.
That happens to make perfect sense to the soul.
Mermaids and birds unite.
Magic fills the air.
I mean real magic.
Not make believe magic.
I mean magic of the "I really believe" variety.
I do believe, do you?
I hope yes.
Tell me it's true?
What about a tiny turkey?
Would that convince you?
Or what about the tale of how there is mad scurrying going on in the 4 story dollhouse?
(yes, one of my big old dollhouses is ready to have some fun again)
You see, nana and her 6 orphan grandchildren moved out of the big yellow dollhouse…
And they have moved into the hugest most tattered house ever.
They haven't fully finished moving in or dolled it up.
But they are soooo happy to have a home for Thanksgiving.
Nana has made all sorts of goodies, and there is always hot tea for sipping.
The baby elves in rabbit suits are getting cozy, as are the giant birds.
A little baby from France is cozy cakes too.
Did I mention that nana allows any manner of creature to move in as well?
That's so sweeeet!
Unpacking is chaos!
But everyone is sooooo excited!
No more being dollhouse love being cooped up in the attic or garden shed.
Hooooray!!!
Dancing penguins take the cake!
🙂
Thankful hearts a plenty in our neck of the woods!
Me included.
Here's to dollhouses and tiny things!!
And secret hideaways too.

Love the Dollhouse Vanessa..Have a wonderful Thanksgiving…
Oh, I love it love it LOVE IT!
I can’t wait to show Violet, but she’s already in bed.
That fingertip turkey is killing me.

Love the tiny things and the whimsy!
The doll house is a delight, especially
having tea. Wherever did you find that
little tea set? Oh yes, I do believe
in magic and whimsy.
Greetings fellow believer 😉 hee hee
I think I got the tea set, no I know I got it, at an antique store about 20 years ago.
Antique stores have little cabinets with treasures, oh my so many treasures!!
Hello to you, Dearest Dear Vanessa!
I do so, so love your beautiful little world! I wish I was there to look at every detail. And what lovely serendipity it is that I just posted the first pictures from the dollhouse I have been working on at The Tearoom blog!!! The cold weather must make us want to crawl into our tiny worlds (of course, your cold is not the same as our cold here in Maine!). I hope you will stop by The Tearoom soon and visit my small world as well!
Sending hugs,
Betty
Ah this post was absolutely dreamy! Love these little peeks of nooks and crannies! I am in loveeee with your shelf of carnival mini goodness!
I believe in real magic too. I like little spaces too, I like to call them nooks. Nooks where all of me can burst forth freely. Your dollhouse is so sweet. It’s always good to have a nice home to be warm and cozy for Thanksgiving.
I adore your doll house and the collection of dollies you have. And I have some of the same fabric you have used for the bedding and other goodies. We do have good taste, don’t we? 😉 smiles.
If it weren’t for magic I don’t know where I would be…I guess I would try going over the rainbow!
XO

Your “heart’s nonsense” sure speaks to me. I love it!! More nonsense please!
Your little dolls remind me of one I have that Dame Darcy gave me many many years ago. Happiness.
I believe in the magic also. There is something very special about tiny things and magic. They go hand in hand. There is a secret world you know, where special things happen happen to only true believers.
Please have a wondrous Thanksgiving to you and your family and may it bring lots of good health and magic….
I made the little dollies but not nana 😉

Vanessa:
I adore all things miniature. I have loved teeny tiny goodies since I was a little girl. Your dollhouse is spectacular! Ohhhh….it made me realize that I still have a brand new, not even built yet, dollhouse kit in the attic. Hmmmm….maybe a project for 2014? Thanks for helping me to remember that.

Kim, yes yes yes, get your dollhouse out 🙂
Mini’s are so lightheartening.
My big yellow dollhouse is too huge to put anywhere, so that is sad. And I gave one big tudor style one to my mom.
But this one I have had for many years, even though it is big, it is vertical, so it makes it easier to have out.
I couldn’t bear to keep it cooped up anymore, so I thought I’ll just put it in the cottage.
Make yours, I can’t wait to see it.
The one in my pics is old, an old many made it for his daughter when she was little, and she is a grown woman with her own grown kids now.
I have taken out a lot of the blood red carpet – and the walls need paint me thinks. It was encased in plexiglass when I got it.
I had it out for a while, but put it away to move furniture, and of course, it stayed put away about 3 years ago.
And it is solid wood, so it is scary heavy.
I got it in my 20’s, and I was like, how long am I going to have everything put away? Time to play!!
😉

Tiny turkeys, indeed! Tee hee! Oh, I have a nearly-3 year old little one who would wreak utter havoc in your lovely doll house! tee hee….she would flip over all the tiny things, and the icebox, too! what fun! She has 3 dollhouses already….one portable wooden one, a store-bought one, and one (my favorite) that is actually the bottom shelf of our living room bookshelf! I’ve always wanted to have one of those giant old, Victorian houses…with dainty papers and rugs and tiny furniture…..swoon! & Happy Thanksgiving to You and Yours!!!
Oh, oh, oh – the baby from France! Had forgotten all about her. Your dollhouses and treasures are fantastic. I love how you create magic all around you… Missing you, dearest V! The happiest of Thanksgivings to you, Mr. Lovee and the furry cherub. xoxox
Beloved Tara, that is your little baby from France, living with Nana in the

Happy holidays you you and yours

I’ve been wanting a Dollshouse for ages. I just can’t quite work out where I have room for it. I’m thinking I should start small and have a just a miniature room or something like that.
I think after Christmas I need to get my thinking cap on!
