When the girl is away the Elfin will play…

I got back from my voyage, crept in ever so quietly, trying not to make any noise with the keys to the secret keyhole

Through_the_secret_keyhole_from_voy

I knew something was up.  I saw a trail of glitter, not wider than a quarter of an inch. It started at the doorstep, and continued through my room.  Of course, just as I suspected, it led me straight to the curious playroom…

It seems we have some new members in our family, in the form of elves.  Although, I don’t think they had a hard time convincing the others, they may have been responsible for a Christmas bash.  I peek in and what is the first sign of havoc?  Little Jeremy on a mushroom, partying. Yes, I know, out of control.  Then two new faces…  The elves… Oh, don’t let their innocent faces fool you…

I get closer and notice the whole gang.  Oh, they have toys and treats.  They even put up a Christmas tree.  I guess Auntie Louie sent them a Mark Ryden Christmas card, that got them so excited, they threw a party.. OH Auntie, did they clear it with you?

You can imagine what fun they had without me harping about using too many sparkles or being to loud… Where on earth did they find that tree???

Gnomes_and_elves8

You know, it is not that I don’t want them to have any fun…  It is just that something can always go wrong.  And the fact of the matter is that, well, noone else can hear them but me, so how ever will they call for any help?  Wouldn’t ya know it, all of a sudden Faun Boy starts to get all fuzzy…

And, down he goes.  As I always tell them, someone always ends up getting hurt in the end…  Looks like there was a bit too much shroom nog served.  Thank goodness I turned up just as they were all huddled around Faun Boy, not knowing what to do…

A glass of water and he was just fine, don’t worry about him too much… I think I’ll let them party til they all drop…

It is sooo good to be home.  But, I am sooooo behind, I feel like my head is going to explode.  I have so much to do.  My goodness… Whirlwind world…

Treats for my shop update are almost ready.  I know, I am later than I wanted to be…  Oh, but these new pieces are dear to my heart.

As for my voyage…  Thank you for all your wonderful wishes for my friend Carolyn.  It was a long drive back home after her 5 hour surgery.  She was so sick from the anesthesia.  The drive from the other side of town was crazy long.  We got every red light.  She had to start her face down ritual right after we left the hospital.  So, she ended up huddled on the floor of my car, behind the passenger seat. Sick and miserable. It was a rough night.  The next day we awoke beyond early to head back out to the other side of town for the morning after visit.  She can not see with the eye, but vision should return in 8 weeks.  She looks like she was in a boxing match and lost.  But, she is such an amazing sport, black eye and all.  There are so many visitors and so much love.  I have so much more to share on that front that is just astounding.  It has to do with how some of you touched her so profoundly!  Much more sharing to come…

I took this photo in her secret garden…  As a thank you for all of your kindness…

  3. Dave says:

We’ll come help clean up the elf-party 🙂 I hope faun boy will be ok, I know sometimes you just get carried away with the shroom-nog and it all just goes quickly downhill.
Please don’t let your head explode. It’s a nice head, and we’d all miss it quite a bit.
I hope that Carolyn will heal quickly, I’m sure that your being there for her meant a lot to her. I know it would to me if I were in her situation and a friend came to look after me.
Can’t wait to see the new stuff for your shop! Hope all the preparation for the update goes well!

  4. Dees says:

  6. Polly says:

Hon, if I could get passed my own mess I’d love to come help! I’m stepping over toys everywhere here. My parents gave each of the kids a ton of stuff for Christmas before they left, so now I have an obstacle course of toys through the house. I’m glad to hear your friend is ok. This must be so hard for her!! Are her spirits up or down? You’re an amazing gal to have taken such good care of her – especially this time of year when it’s so busy! There will be blessings, I’m praying them for you. Have a wonderful Tuesday. -Polly

  7. Mo'a says:

I will come over to help…if you will come back with me and try and make sense out of the lovely Christmas mess in my house. *smile*

  10. phyllis says:

That card you got!!! So you! So cute and perfect to hang on the wall for the elfin party. Did that man revive?

  11. Sheila says:

    Faun boy needs help..!
He is setting a bad example to those elves..!
Maybe you should get him into N.A..?
    (Nog’s Anon..)
I am glad you are there to help your friend it must be so scary for her, you too. It’s quite a responsibility. Keep us posted as to how she is please.
    Big hugs
    xx

  12. risa says:

I’m happy to help clean up! You are such a good friend, you deserve to have us all step in and help you out.
I hope Carolyn has started to feel a little better. As someone pronte to car sickness, I was easily able to imagine how awful that car trip must have been for her.
Oh, and a Mark Ryden Xmas card! Have you ever seen his paintings in person? AMAZING. I stood there imagining the old-fashioned library I would design around his paintings. I might design a whole house around them if I was ever lucky enough to own one. Maybe David Arquette will decide to give me one from his collection. Wouldn’t that be nice?

  13. Eileen Weigand says:

Those elves and gnomes know how to party!! 🙂
I was thinking of you and your friend and I’m so sorry to hear about the effects of the anesthesia- awful! I do hope she is recuperating steadily now and you are such a great friend to be there for her. (((hugs)))

  14. You are an angel of mercy darling girl. How lucky she is to have to you….poor Carolyn has been through it hasn’t she? With her attitude and your dear friendship I know she will heal quickly!
As for the elfen mess….I have a feeling they had this planned for the minute you left. Cheeky elves they are. I could use them to come and festive up the place here…they look like they know how to have a good time! Perhaps Alessandra could sing some opera for them!
Can’t wait to see your newest treats!
    Lots of love to you,
    Lisa
    XOXOXO

  15. Paris Parfait says:

Very mischievous (but adorable) elves. That is a fantastic little tableau of whimsy you’ve created. Glad Carolyn is doing better. Goodness, what ordeals she’s endured lately! Really makes us count our blessings, doesn’t it? Can’t wait to see your latest creations. xoxox

  16. Lovely ,I do mean LOVELY,dioramas, naturally the elves would play at your house, can you imagine the magical world they have created that you CAN’T see, made from culling the floor of your studio!
So sorry about your friend,I am trying to play a bit of catch up today!

  17. sadira says:

Oh, I hope that Ms. C recovers fast and soon, and is in good spirits…poor thing! I can’t imagine all that she (and you) has to go through…I think it is with good and honest reason you are behind. Plus, everything eventually gets done doesn’t it?
You just had to have known there would be some sort of party in your absence…it is a motley crew that was left behind in your house, and with the holidays and the shroom-nog flowing freely, there is bound to be some mis-spilt glitter!

  18. tiffany says:

  22. Faun Boy! He’s a wild one. Always the center of attention! Look at everyone gathered around him, I laughed out loud at that one!
    So freakin cute.
Hope Carolyn is okay, anesthetic sucks big time. Makes you feel awful. Poor lamb. I hope she recovers well, and fast! I will send good vibes. Tons of good vibes.
As for you, I hope things get back in order for you, give yourself time and pace yourself. Make a hot tea….sit down…prioritize. You can do it!
