Water + Color

Where bees buzz around lavender colored rosemary flowers…

Water color 13

Water droplets, like jewels, gather.

Water color 16

As color finds its way to pencil…

Water color 2

But not without aid of those jeweled droplets…

Water color 26

That allow for rosy cheeks…

Water color 3

In shades of petal pink.

Water color 14

Where paintbrush…

Water color 1

Is happiest to be.

Water color 4

Pink on flowers…

Water color 5

And ribbons.

Water color 6

Pink balloons…

Water color 7

Pink hair.

Pink scalloped edges.

Water color 8

Pink everywhere today it seems.

Water color 9

And buttercup yellow hair, must not forget.

Water color 11

Buttercups that call your name, whispered in the breeze.

Water color 12

Canopying in secret places, where you go to dream.

Water color 10

As honeysuckle guides the way.

Ah that scent.

Water color 15

Past endless patches of the most delicious candy sweet smelling wild chamomile.

Water color 19

Whilst hummingbirds gather to take a bath.

Water color 21

Fluttering around, two plus three.

Water color 22

Sipping, playing.

Bathing.

Every morning bright and early.

Hummingbirds that trust.

And swoop by, batting humming wings on hair.

Just for a sip.

Water color 18

Pink is the story of the day it seems.

Color plus petals.

Ruffled tulips begin to wake.

Water color 20

Down the path where shadows play.

Water color 24

Under bright skies, where doggies nap their days away.

Right on our lil' parcel of earth.

Water color 25

Only waking to climb trees.

Water color 30

While I convince their father, that please, dogs need tree-houses too.

And I dare say, he, being a dreamer like me and you…

Sits and ponders.

Nodding yes yes, this should be a thing we do, written all over his face.

As if a tree-houses for grown girl, and boys with fur, is something that is quite an option.

.

Water color 31

Have you ever seen pups love trees as such?

(okay, it was a squirrel plus shenanigans, but hey, who's counting?)

For now…

Water color 17

It's all about water plus color.

While working on new art cards.

And watching nature roll by.

On sunny days in a bizarre Arizona.

Where everything is blooming.

Too early.

Where I just watch and see what is to come.

Trees that only lost their leaves in early December (our autumn), coming back to life so soon.

Aren't they still sleepy?

Such warmth, no winter yet.

Lovee says it will come.

Will it?

Interesting weather times.

For now…

We wait and paint.

How are you out there in your neck of the woods??

I finished my book.

I enjoyed it quite much.

Read it all in 1.5 days.

I am now starting a new one.

Oooo, reading obsessions ensue!

Love, V

Sparkly heart

I’m so over this odd Texas weather. Bring on the hummingbirds and bees!

  2. Linnea-maria says:

It is beautiful! I also love to paint with watercolours. I can’t imagine that you already have flowers in your garden. But of course you live in a warm place and I live in Narnia. 😉

  3. Miss Linda says:

It’s wonderful to see colors of spring again, either through your paint brush or your wonderful gardens. Here in Michigan we are starting to see the sunshine but it’s too cold to go outside and enjoy it. it is snowing again this morning but just a light dusting. I can’t wait to feel the warmth of the sun and spring colors.

  4. There are flowers, and trees showing leaves too soon, it is a phenomenon for sure. For some reason, we have not had winter this year. Of course, it never gets as cold as you. But we do get snow at least once in February. It usually melts in one day though. However, this year our autumn only happened in December, when all the leaves fell off the trees. And now, the trees are already getting new leaves. These are trees that usually only get new leaves in April. It is very strange. We have had pure weeks of 70’s and 80’s F. It is odd for sure. I wonder if the fruit trees will even make fruit this year, with not enough cold days to sleep? It’s very odd, and I can’t wait to see what happens 🙂 Play in the snow for me 😉

  5. Miss Linda, the warmth is sooooo good. I just hope out warm winter isn’t a global warming change that will give us a 130’F summer, eeeeeks 😉 Or maybe it will snow in summer, haha!

  6. Is it cold for you guys over there Miss Stacy?

  7. Your sneak peek of your lovely art cards is divine! And your close-up photography is so mellow…not yellow, but pink!
It has been in the 70’s all week here, and we have hardly had a winter either, but rain is expected tomorrow and for the next three days after that. Maybe some of the rain will come your way after we get it.
It is supposedly going to cool down. I’ll believe it when I see it.
This weather is perfect for painting canvases as the paint and gesso dries so quickly. It does look and feel like Spring here too.
Have a lovely rest of the week!
    XO
    Miss Teresa

    Hello Vanessa,
I love all the pretty flowers, they are so bright and colorful. And the hummingbirds I didn’t know they would be around this early in Arizona. It has been pretty wild here in Northwest Florida. We’ve had a frost, some ice and a dusting of snow which is not very common around here. After having two gorgeous 70 plus degree days we are back to a cold 50 degrees and maybe another frost too. I planted some hydrangeas and will probably have to cover them so the blooms won’t die.
The dogs are adorable. I’ve been wanting a Golden Retriever for some time now. They have a Rescue for Golden’s not too far from here and when the time is right I thought I might contact them about the dogs they have looking for a comfy home.
I hope you have a great week! P.S. I’ve framed two of your prints in white frames and they look great! I’m so pleased with them. 🙂

  9. Sarah says:

    Just beautiful!

  10. Jenn says:

Oh the droplets on the leaves! I am so jealous. I just want to sit out on the picnic table and paint, 5 months of winter gets so tiresome after Christmas. And your painted ladies are so cheerful! I needed to see some lovely colours today!

  11. Marilyn says:

    reading obsession, hooray!
dogs in tree houses for sure.
    oh my, oh my!
and gardens that a waking makes
    a heart sing.
my garden is waking, crocus are
    blooming, daffodils have heads
but not opened yet, tulips are
    peaking above ground, and even
    the roses and delphiniums are
    beginning to show growth.

  12. Marilyn,
my roses are huge and beginning to bloom. We had no winter this
year. It has been 70F all winter. This is very odd indeed. It
usually snows once in February at least. We have had no hard freeze, and
all the trees that went dormant in December, are awake again, when normally it
    isnt until April or May.
    Its soooo weird!!!
And, my daffodils and hyacinth have come and gone.
And now the tulips are opening.
Its all tooooo weird 😉 But I am happy for sun and joy 😉
Its all very very wild for Arizona.

What do you think, maybe a dusting of snow down your way when the rain comes to the valley the next couple of days ? Maybe Lovee is right and your wish can yet be granted for a magical swirl of snow at the love🖤shack.

  14. I am not sure 🙂 But I have pruned all the roses, so I hope it stays spring now 😉 Everything has so much new growth, and lots of buds starting to peek in and open. The year we had no winter. I bet you though, that is mysteriously snows in summer, hee hee!

  15. Emalina says:

Hello dear Vanessa, it’s wonderful to see your garden in bloom. The gorgeous colours of those spring flowers are reflected beautiful in your paintings. So pretty, all of it!
There’s a lot of bloom in my life nowadays, as I adjust to my multiple pregnancy!

  16. Love the art sneak peek and those precious pups! Miss you V…so much going on, I don’t get to visit as much as I’d like. Big hugs from the East Coast…where we have gotten snow twice this week. Can’t wait for spring and some yummy weather 😉
    Jamie 🙂

  17. Irina says:

So refreshing to see color, your magnificent art, sweet fur babies…that dew! Hummingbirds, flowers….everything…
This year has been bizarre and extreme…we are in another deep freeze, and you are blooming too early…but last year we had snow in MAY! Sometimes I feel as if we have all fallen down the rabbit hole… 🙂
    Love your magic, dear Vanessa…
    xoxoxoxo

  18. I thought winter would never come to Southern Ca.I’m happy to say it might have waited tell very late Feb.but it’s here now.I don’t want to rush Spring now.You do Pretty in Pink very well 🙂 Your girls look precious.Blessings Denise

  19. The ornamental pears are beginning to bloom here in Fort Worth but we have a freeze warning for Monday night 🙁 It will be a few more days before flowers bloom for us. You live in paradise honey bunny 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful garden. I make fritatas but I guess mine are more southwestern (peppers too) and I slip mine into the oven to finish the top since I have an electric range.
    xoxo,
    Deb

We haven’t had a proper winter in Wales either this year. It’s strange…..because it was the same last year and isn’t really natural, I think. We didn’t have any snow either, just lots of floods and high winds.

  21. Betty says:

    Dearest Dear Miss Vanessa,
I do so love the sweet colors of your paintings and of your garden as well! And my vote about the treehouse for grownups and dogs is a loud “YES”! I had a playhouse in my backyard growing up and it was just the sweetest thing ever. Given half a chance again, I would want to have another one, where you could go stay the night sometimes and do art projects in any other day! Perhaps not too high in the air (did you see Moonrise Kingdom?), but even a bit off the ground would be fine, with a ramp for Your Dear Doggie Boys! Now you have me dreaming about a future mini house for Mr. V and I!!!
    Sending hugs to you,
    Betty

  22. Annalee says:

    We had snow yesterday… @__@
And today it was still snowing up in the mountains, where my in-laws live, so we weren’t able to get up to see them for my birthday. But that’s okay, since we pushed birthday dinner and cake to next weekend. ^__^ Now if only Winter would mosey on by and let Spring come for a visit! I’m ready to be warm again. I like Winter, but in the winter months… March is so not a winter month. ^_^
Ah well. We’re staying cozy inside, cleaning house and I’m devouring books by the stack (including my audio books, which mean I can knit & read simultaneously… which is just beyond fabulous! =D)
I’m glad you all are enjoying your sunshine! ^-^
And I hope you do indeed get a tree house!!! There are few things in life better than tree houses… <3
    XOXO
