The Mad Hatter & Me {A Tale of Whimsical Adventure Revisited}

Floating in a virtual abyss of cosmically romantic proportions live endless memories and moments in time.

Moments we forget about as we swiftly propel into the future.

Until happenings of the past are but dusty memories.

In a quest to accomplish a project, I find myself dancing into some of those moments in time.

Thanking the virtual depth of this curious ethernet for holding that space where memories float about amongst the stars.

And so, with best frock upon person, we go…

Back in time.

A trip to wonderland

And so the story goes….

In continuing the tale of where the Hat, the cupcake and the Mad Hatter led me, I shall remind of the day I "borrowed" the hat, offered a cupcake for any hat related inconveniences, and was coaxed into a stay in Wonderland by the Mad Man himself.

(Oh and, might I hint at the existence of a wee film at the end of this tale…?)

So there he was, pondering the happenings of Wonderland on the day I snuck his hat back into the garden.

He seemed like he had something very very important on his mind.

He had just returned from a grand voyage, and I was peeking through the trees, watching.

   Mad Hatter Enchantment 15

I noticed some sparkles appearing around him – magic for certain.

I heard the fairies in the trees whispering something about an enchanted tea party on his mind…

Always.

Mad Hatter Enchantment 11

Just then, he heard a noise.

It was me crunching the leaves on the ground while I was spying.

Mad Hatter Enchantment 10

He quickly spun around, and spotted me!

Mad Hatter Enchantment 12

So, I emerged from behind a tree and introduced myself, bowing my head and curtsying.

Mad Hatter Enchantment 14

Whilst offering a grand cupcake, and attempting to scurry off.

Cupcake magic 1

But, the Hatter insisted I stay.

Cupcake magic 2

He spoke of a treasure, a gift that he had chosen just for me while on his voyage.

Mad Hatter Enchantment 16

For me? I asked…

"But sir, you don't even know me…?"

He replied, "Why, of course I know who you are, my pretty…"

He reached out in his enchanting manner, urging me to not be afraid…

  Mad Hatter Enchantment 17

His kind and comforting eyes, with a twinkle of sure madness, drew me in.

I took a deep breath as he reached into his suitcase and produced a gift.

   Mad Hatter Enchantment 18

"In this box lives a gift of pure and endless magic, a gift of infinite internal youth and imagination.  Take it, and it shall be yours…"

Mad Hatter Enchantment 20

I couldn't resist.

As I reached for the box, he said-

"Be warned, once you accept this box filled with boundless imagination and wondrous magical creative abandon, you can never ever ever go back to the life you once had, to the girl you once were…"

   Mad Hatter Enchantment 19a

I didn't have to think long - I wanted to open the box, and share what was inside the box…

Then he said "Go into the woods and ponder what we have spoken of.  If you return, this journey shall continue, and the box shall be yours…"

I found a mossy spot by a great big tree, and sat, pondering.

I could not think of any reason not to accept the box.

I returned to the Mad Hatter, with my decision and one final question…

   Mad Hatter Enchantment 7

As I opened the curtain I asked, "May I share the contents of this box with my friends?"

   Mad Hatter Enchantment 3

He responded in song, emerging from his wagon, while playing the most curious little tune on a beautiful mandolin.

"Of course, share it with whomever you choose, and celebrate ~ clink tea cups, twirl, dance, smile, laugh…"

Mad Hatter Enchantment 5

And with that, he ran off…

  Mad Hatter Enchantment 6

Beckoning me to follow him ~

And so, I did…

  Mad Hatter Enchantment 13

I kicked off my shoes, and skipped to catch up to him…

And through a corridor of trees he played and sang.

Mad Hatter Enchantment 21

A plan to invite each and every one of you, to be true, to you.

Mad Hatter Enchantment 22

And always, no matter what, find your way back to your own personal wonderland.

Mad Hatter Enchantment 23

So we danced and celebrated at the thought of a life long tea party beyond our wildest imagination.

Mad Hatter Enchantment 2

With that, I opened the box, and let the magic float out – it should be reaching you just about now….

A sure reason to dance and be silly in the garden on this lovely evening.

Join us, won't you?

Whew, that was a fun little voyage, wasn't it?

A trip to wonderland 2

  2. You thought it was creepy?? Oh no!! hahahaha! Well, it is fun
to see different perspectives, haha! 😉

  3. A charming story, Vanessa! I have to tell you, you are really good at just not capturing Mr. Lovee’s face in your pictures. : ) That almost sounds like a wonderland sentence rereading it now, but I think you get what I mean.

  4. How Lovely! I do believe your magic has reached me. I made a purple cloud.
Thank you for sharing. L. Hewitt

  5. I love this surreal, fantasy!
    You and Mr Lovee…
So much imagination in the both of you…
The music mix is quite the Mad Hatter Symphony…
I do believe Mr Lovee is channeling Gene Wilder in ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’…all serious and nonsense at the same time…
    Totally brilliant!!!

Lovely!! But did I read too much into this? Did I detect a proposal in the mysterious box?? Are you two going to marry (if you aren’t already, that is)?

  11. Dana Laviano says:

Are we never going to get to see his face? Is he hideously deformed?
