It has been brought to my attention on more than one occasion that my bunny boy needs a name. I think I am like those parents that don’t choose a name for their children for a freakishly long time. And, really, when you have a wooden box of wonderful names suggested to you, how do you choose?
Last night, he was sitting on the mantle, and I realized one thing for sure. My friend Nancy wasn’t too sure he was quite ready to be king. And, really, I think she is right. I think he is more of a mischevious little bunny prince. See, he even got into my jewelry box and put on a necklace with a crown in the center… (ps: The original art piece behind our bunny boy, is available and in my shop)
I wrote down some of the names that I thought really suited him. Here is my coffee stained little list… It has two sides, but the other is too filthy to share…
The truth is, we just don’t know what to name him. I am really close… He insists he want to be king… But look at him, he doesn’t fit in his thrown yet…
His crown doesn’t fit either, and no matter how many times I tell him not to, he still eats cake in his thrown…
So for now, I need one more blog post in time, to secure a name. A name that really fits him perfectly. If you have any more thoughts I am still open. Because, the truth is, I think I am going to choose several ideas to make one name.
Guess what else I have been up to? Well, I have been trying new papers and flooring on for size in my house…
My Dollhouse that is…
I have to say, I am really finding the whole thing a bit overwhelming. I was soooo excited to cut out wall paper and such. But, with all of the moulding to remove and electricity to deal with, the first steps were really eye-opening. I am re-evaluating how to tackle this. Maybe I will do a spruce up and not a whole renovation. Plus, time wise. Well, some of you know, I have been staying up wayyyyy too late to accomplish all the things my little brain has on its list. And, quite honestly, I am making myself nuts. Back to nutcakeville I go if I don’t find some simple solutions.
Also, I want to thank you for helping me have such a wonderful shop update a few days ago. I was so excited to share the dolls and other creatures with you (there are still a few treasures waiting for you in the shop). I am actually heading out right after this blog post to get more tape & packaging supplies, as I have run out 🙂 I know, some of your are smiling. Yes, more tape. I know, I am causing the tape shortage of 2008. It is one of my OCD things. It makes me giggle just thinking about it! hee heeeeee 😉
I was busy all weekend creating more little faces and stories. I am so addicted… Here are more creations that will be going into the shop very soon (early this week, maybe even tomorrow)…
Owl Girl…
Keeper of treasures… Unlocking our deepest dreams and wishes… She has lovely textured wings…
Owl girl is so fun, I wish I could translate all the details over the screen. But, in person they are magical little beings. They bring me so much joy…
Tea-time Girl… I am sooo in love with her… Is it okay to love a doll as such?
She has a name, but I am waiting for her to whisper it to me… Oh, you should have seen me making those little tea cups and saucers, and the pitcher. I can’t express the satisfaction creating miniatures brings. It is incredible. Actually, I find satisfaction in most clay creations. I remember the first time one of my life size tea cups came out of the kiln. It was so wonderful to have something tangible like that in your hands…
Mr. Lovee always giggles at what he calls, my pee-wee little fingers. We hold up our pinkies to eachother and it is so chuckle worthy. This weekend I said, see, if it weren’t for pee-wee pinkies, we wouldn’t have pee-wee tea cups… hahaha
And, the Cake Girl… Such a dear heart, she is so peaceful and kind…
She carries with her a teeny blue bird in the top of her crown. And of course, a huge piece of cake on her favorite cake plate…
So there are more dolls for our fun theater and for your dreamy homes…
Okay, tape beckons, so I must run out. I also have to deliver a doll… Oh, before I forget again, I have been meaning to acknowledge how slow I have been in everything. I have been slow in visits, slow in posts, and especially slow in thanking some of you for the treasures you share with me ( life has been crazzzzzy, but that is no excuse). My mailbox gets some wonderful love. And, I have been dreadfully horrid at sharing. So, I am going to take extra care to do that…
I want to thank two girls today for their parcel love. I am going to take photos of more parcel love and share this week…
Thank you Miss Sarah! She is such an artist, and soooooo good with sewing. Beyond good. She makes wonderful creatures!! And, she is funny and, as I tell her often, she knows everything!
Another parcel that came was so funny because, Mr. Lovee could read with the bottom part of the bifocals!! But, he can not have them 🙂 Thank you to the charming Phyllis of Shabby in the City. She has the fun fun fun friday flea markets. You can shop right off her blog. I have captured some great vintage baby gown treasures for my dolls… She has some of everything we love over at her place!!
Thank you Shabilitta!!! She also sent what is now my favorite drinking mug, with a little witch and book of spells on it… LOVE it!
Well, off I run for now. Tape calls and my world needs some tending to. xoxo

my goodness! me the first to comment? YAY! i’ve been thinking about you often vv. now i know why! because you’re all in 3d, like me!
xxxxx00000 🙂
Wow. I have just spent ages looking through your work. You must have been so busy everything looks wonderful and the detail is stunning. Well done you, I love it all.
Aaaaahhhhh! Your dolls are divine….really…miss V….it’s too much for the senses….must….go…..knead….clay!
Your inspiring creations have me itching to sculpt! (Though my humble work is nothing like your beautiful maidens!!)
You doll house has electricity!!?? Waah!! I’ve always longed for a doll house…perhaps someday I’ll have room for one!! It’s something to wish for!! 🙂 Hoooray!
PS….he still looks like a Captain Fuzzywiggins to me! 😉
Oh, I just adore the wee mini tea cups setting atop Tea-Time girls pretty little head!
As for that little King, and he is a King, he has all the right features to be one. I heard him whisper his name to me as I read your description of him in this post. He laughed so joyously and kicked up his feet because he feels that he pulled on over on you my dear Vanessa. He finds it delightful that you haven’t been able to decipher his secret name. Well let me tell you what that cheeky Kings name really is. It’s “His Royal Highness, Michievious Mortimer the III, Keeper of the Magical Realms” So there you have it. Straight from the wabbits whiskers.
the dolls are beautiful… I love just examining all the details in their decoration. I can’t wait to hear what mr. bunny man’s name comes out to be 🙂 I’m sure it will be perfect, in a squiggly-nosed, long-eared royalty kind of way.
I can’t imagine re-wellpapering a dollhouse… I just don’t have the patience or the fine motor skills for it. It would look a mess when I was finished, and it’d take me about a year 🙂
Happy tape shopping 😀
Oh Miss Cake Doll is just so perfect, well anyone with all that cake would be wouldn’t they?
As for Prince Bunnykins there, we once had a rabbit called Rex and guess what Rex meand King so maybe you could keep your little prince happy by calling him somehting Rex?
I’m sure wellpapering would be fantastic, if I knew what it was, but I also can’t imagine re-wallpapering a dollhouse.
Oh, Oh, Oh!!! Tea girl and Cake girl are so divinely glorious creations. I too am in love with them! Owl girl is so creative and wonderful too!!!!!!
I would love to know how you make those teeny tiny cups. Do you use polymer clay? I was thinking of making some last week actually because i have some that i bought once.
As for White Rabbits name, hmmmmm, i still like the name Hubert alot, so how about:
AK (almost King) Hubert Mortimer Fuzzywiggins of Somerset. I snuck in the the name of your magazine..hehe!
Well, have fun in nutcakeville, you nutty girl!
I adore the three new girls, especially Tea-time girl. I hope she and Cake girl have become good friends so they can have the perfect tea party whenever they want.
Oh!!!!No!!!I need those glasses…quick…I thought I would be the first to comment…the 9 looked like a 0 to me.
Lovely creations…the crown with a little blue bird *sigh* The tiny tea cups *sigh*
The girls *smile* Oh!!! my but they are lovely.
I still want that theater…have you and Lovee booked a flight yet? I will pick you up at the airport and we can get right to work *Grin*
i loooooooooooooove the tea party girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!! soooooooooooooo much. she may be the most perfect doll ever!!!!!!
you’ve hit on something my dear. you have, you have.
Name the bunny Jack. Prince Jack. And if he becomes king, he can stop using his nickname and be King John.
More wonderful delights from the ever so talented Miss Fanciful! I absolutely LOVE Cake Girl!
And your dollhouse, I can’t wait to see what you do with it!
Tape? You’re going out to buy tape?? Did you not remember our deal?? You’re supposed to let me know when you’re going to go buy more tape so that I can go snap up a roll before it’s sold out from sea to shining sea! 😉
PS. Your rabbit is definitely a Mortimer!
Lovely dolls, my dear. I might have to get out my box of sculpey and give doll making a whirl!
I am all tapped out of names, but I am sure you’ll find something suitable.
I love Tea Time Girl’s head gear. 🙂
Oh I love the new dolls so much!!! Can’t decide which one I like the best but I think the one with the cups on her head. And the crown on bunny boy is marvelous!!! Did you make it??? I love crowns and that one is just out of this world!
Jill
Oh my…Ms. Owl Girl is so very dreamy! I just adore her…oh, and those teacups are breathtaking…and Mr. Prince FuzzyBuns is too cute as well (even if his crown doesn’t fit…yet…I have high hopes for him…) I think he should share his cake with the tea cup girl…they look as if they’d get along famously for sure!
I would never have believed it was possible for them to be more wonderful than the first dolls, but they are! I just love them sooo much! I do wish I had a good name for Mister bunny but I really struggle with names, even my own children! I am thinking though…
There was once a bunny who would be King….I am King , I am king he would haughtily sing….He would try on the Crown and dance Around….On the throne he would sit and munch…lots of carrots by the bunch…..But every day it was the Same…he couldn’t be King cause he had no NAME!!!!
How lovely!
We all love what you post.
Love the bunnies and dolls and YOU.
Love Jeanne ^j^
how about bunz boy – pretender to the throne…blessings today, rebecca
Oh Vanessa, I love the dolls!! The tea girls is so funny- goodness another obsession for me- oh no! 😀
Oh so honored Curiosa to even be your amiga!!! I love the book you wrote with my name on it. I can’t wait to see where you hang the mirror! Maybe you’ll find an antique credenza to hang it over…or maybe I will, huh? I’m glad too that I could fill Mr. Lovee’s specific prescription…you see I used to do that for a living and I have fitted the best of the best from Amy Grant to Marie Osmond (those were just sunglasses…)
As for that last doll’s name…I think Pee Wee Pinkie suits her!
Coming up with names for my little critter friends is often distressing too!! Either it strikes me right between the eyes the instant I finish them, or months may go by without them being christened! hehe!! I agree though… he does look rather like a mischievous price-type!! Can’t wait to see what name you crown him with! 😀
Oh my–it sounds like your doll house renovations are taking exciting turns!! 🙂 And your new dolls are so lovely… I am just adoring their whimsical nature!!
Hope you are having a lovely Tuesday!!! 🙂
Miss Vanessa, you delight me once again!!!
I soooooo want to help name your rabbit king and I’ve been thinking and thinking and thinking! Maybe TODAY is the day I will come up with something.
Hugs to you!!!
Michelle
Goodness Vanessa. You are quite the doll maker. They are all sooooo beautiful! I LOVE their hair and their adorable little accessories…such attention to detail.
lovely lovely new creatures in your shop…cleverfingersminx. Will any more faunboys visit do you think?*
ohh that almost rhymed.
x
I love your little dolls, just magical!!!
and a dollhouse to decorate. What fun!!
Your little bunny friend is just enchanting. I always take my time choosing a name, it is after all somethign that will be kept for a life time.
Now about Kings eating cake. I of course could never be King, but if I were Queen I would eat cake while sitting on my throne or in bed or wherever I liked. But of course men can be a bit messy, and I guess if the queen made the rule that he should not eat cake while sitting on his throne then of course he should abide. We all know that the Queen is the one who is really in charge.
I too love tape. 🙂
I just don’t know how you do it. But I do understand the love of Phyllis’s Friday Flea! Blessings.. Polly
Oh, I just love that bunny man of yours!! However, I am absolutely terrible at picking out names! The thought of it alone is enough to just put me over the edge! So, you can imagine my anxiety when I had to pick a name for my own little man…;) So, I can’t help you there but I’m sure someone will come up with something fabulous! And, of course I love your new dolls! They are gorgeous!!
I still think he should be named Sir Lancelot Lapin. Maybe he’s not ready to be king, but surely he has acquired “Sir” status in the magical kingdom in which he dwells? Those dolls are amazingly clever and creative. Love them all! xoxox
Well, I suggested a Kingly name some time back but if he’s not to be a King, then perhaps his name might be Prince Maximus Thumperfoot of Middle Witchhampton. Max for short. Heehee.
Dear VV,
All is looking so festively enchanted in your neck of the forest.
xox
Constance
I think tea-time girl looks kinda lika Miranda or a Tullulah
.. ops I wasn’t finished! They all look really fabulous. No wonder you have to stay up if these ladies are trying their best to make their debut.. what can you do. I know what you mean about the sleep. My New Years Resolution .. one of them anyway was to get more and better sleep… Morning excersise is helping, but it’s hard to take away time from the creative things I love to do healthy things I do not love.. like go to bed and eat lots of cauliflower and the like. Good luck!
Hi Vanessa! ~ Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the world tonight! ‘-)
ALL are lovely…I like Mortimer for your cute bunny. Your dollhouse is gorgeous! I will have to share a pic of my custom Halloween dollhouse on my blog someday!
You have been busy busy busy…all the new tea-time dolls are fantastic!
Your blog is SUCH a visual delight!!!
XOXO
Chris 🙂
I think Tim Burton would love Tea Cup Girl so much that he would write a movie around her!
Your dolls are wonderful—tea time girl whispered to me and asked me to give you a message “of course my name is Teana” Keep creating-you have such a gift!
Bliss Happens!
brenda bliss
OK I am changing my name from Mr Bun to Prince Noname.
Dolls are devine just like you dearie!xoxo
How about some Saxon Kings from the Coronation stone in England?
Edward the Elder
Athelstan
Edmund I of England
Edred of England
Edwy of England
Edward the Martyr
Ethelred the Unready
I personally like Ethelred the Unready
Another delightful post!!! I can always count on you for wondrous tales about what you’ve been up to 🙂
Your Owl Girl is simply fabulous. And she holds the key to many a thing…
As for The King Who Isn’t Ready To Be One, I’d suggest the name of Prince Barnabé The Fanciful.
Personally, I’m partial to Bunny Boy…think that says it all….
The girls are incredible, teacups stacked, so very Ms Manners! You be sURE to use lots of tape to send these lovelies out into the world!!
Your papering of the dollhouse reminds me of my dollhouse that my grandmother decorated for me…the master bedroom so sheik (sp? ha) with silver wallpaper (crumpled cigarette package linings)
Bunny has some lovely jewelry! I love your imagination, girlita!
Hi Vanessa, I love all your new treasures! So wonderful- My sister and I have listed you as our latest inspirational dreamer on our blog.
Suzy
Frederick the Bunnificent.
I love all your new little creations – they’re just gorgeous!
Good luck naming your bunny. I like “Lucius” (pronounced loo-see-us)
🙂 Diana
ooooh…more beautiful dolls!! Tea time girl is oh so fabulous…Owl girl is pure magic and Cake girl could just be my new best friend!! By the way, I FINALLY got my issue of Somerset and HOOOOOORAY for you. It was such a fantastic article and your paper dress girls were just leaping off the page with all their beauty!! xoxo…jenn
I love your dolls..I especially like the Miss Cake there! If I ever decide to have props like that with my dolls, they’re going to sipping slim-fast..hehe.
As for your Bunny..I’ll have to think about that. He looks like the Dashing Duke of something or another..Definately a Playboy Bunny if you will 😛
Hugh Hareffner? Ok thats bad..I’m hungry..off to eat 🙂
My dearest, 50 comments? What is going on here. Obviously I am a couple days late in commenting. I love that bunnykins. He is just my kind. I have a little puppet bunny that my husband bought me 22 years ago. He is sitting on my bed right now. Basically he was our first child so he likes to be the center of attention. His name is Rudy. Similar sort of guy to your bunny, his bowtie is always a bit crooked. And, I just realized something else. His bowtie is pink gingham. Maybe he needs a new more manly bow. Hmmm. Well, I just love bunnies like that, crooked crowns and all.
And your doll house is divine. So much effort to redecorate, how do you find the time!
xoxo
Such lovely lovely things and the KING…what a delightful story.
Nutcakeville?!? Tres adorable!!!
I love these girls…all of them, but being a tea and cake lover (much to the chagrin of my hips!), I have to say I am in love with these lovelies!!!!!
Poor little rabbit, still no name…not yet ready for a crown and eating his cake in the throne…tsk tsk…well, since I believe he has the potential to change and grow, to me he is Prince Percival Potential. And you will know his name in the twitch of a whisker I’m sure!!
Vanessa, there’s magic in your hands! Thank you so very much for sharing it with us. Love, Jamie
The crown on the bunny is adorable!
You are amazing!!!!!
XO…..Kimberlee
I love all of your beautiful work, but for the bunny prince there is only one suitable name. He is the “Hare Apparent”!
oh my the owl is so so wonderful! Kind of like it stepped out of Remedios Varo’s Creations of the Birds! And I love the dollhouse. I know how it is…my husband bought me the biggest, most beautiful victorian, and it sat…and sat….and sat….half finished. I was SO excited about building and decorating it too. I finally unloaded it. But yours is so pretty. I had to do a doubletake (thought it was your real house!)
~*~*~*~
Hello little princess 🙂
As always, another magical post by my favorite character artist! Exquisite Vanessa!
Jo-Anne
Your post just makes me giggle and smile and feel light-hearted! I love bunny foo-foo looking slightly desheveled and a bit michevious with his crooked crown and ‘I’m innocent’ gaze. And good lordy! These dolls are devine! I love the owl girl….who knew?? And teacups on my head? I’d wear them if I looked as cute as she does with them!! Delightful, Miss V!!! You’re creative-ness is a shot of tonic to the soul!! : ))))
xoxox
VB
I think your bunny WAS a prince but ran away from his country to pursue a life on the stage, but then fell in love with a dancer and now they roam the country…
so that being the case he needs
A prince name
a stage name
and a name that his lady love calls him
that way you can have 3 wonderful names, less choice.
also, to me, I think he was a Russian Prince…go with that.
you are so good and creative, i really love your work.
Hi Vanessa!
See I told you that earlier, he is not a king yet!!!!!! So funny with that too big crown!
Love your new dolls… They are beautiful! Just beautiful!!
Hope you are doing great!
xxxx
He does seem a bit mischevious, but so were all the really interesting kings, weren’t they? I had a boy bunny a while back named Sebastian…he was rather melancholy, but he could defend his territory very gallantly against any kitten that came too close (we had a bit of a managerie!)
And I love your dolls..and the doll house! I want one too!
Sigh…if I could just afford one of these stunning art dolls, I am in *love*. Adore your creations, they just get better and better by the day 🙂 Your dollhouse looks wonderful, can’t wait to see the revamp!
Hellow Vanessa!!!
I have discovered your blog ten minutes ago….and I felt in love with all!!!
I look everything once, and once again…and once again…you are incredible!
I admire your power, your talent, your creativity…Congratulations from the deep of my heart!
And thanks for share all this beauty!
A huge kiss from Spain!
Maryluz
Come on woman- you’re dragging out this naming ceremony- give the poor rabbit a name!
I am loving your dolls btw- I loved the newspaper dressed paintings but this takes it onto a new level. Your work has developed so beautifully over the last year or so- it’s really exciting to be able to see each development as it happens- thank you for sharing, my lovely bloggy friend x.
