The Bloglandia Ball

I awoke quite early this morning to a tender yet brisk breeze that I have longed for, for 4 months.  Finally a bit of relief from the heat, in the morning and in the evening.  The most magical time to awake… as a moon the size of a giant cake glowed with an orange ring around it.  It lingered in the West sky…

The roosters crowed, a few stars danced around, bringing my heart and soul to life.  I have fallen in love with early morning hours.  Creeping around the yard, as silence looms all around, the birds still snuggling in their dreams…

Img_9263

I danced in my own private world (or so it felt that way),  such a lovely morning indeed… My toes love their fairytale slippers (flip-flops) from darling Shabilitta.

The tickle that added excitement was the fact that today is the Bloglandia Ball, hosted by the wonderful Elizabeth Bunsen.  Proprietress of the magical blog titled, Be…Dream…Play…

I quickly scurried into the house.  Time to make my dress for the ball.  I have guests (which is why I have not written a new post for several days, naughty me).  So I whipped up my gown, as everyone slept. I am quite pleased, as I might even wear such a dress in the real world…

Stripes and Polka Dots, my favorite!  A deep purple silk sash and a wild jeweled collar… Oh, and don’t forget the vintage jewels right in the middle…

The dress has already begun its own dance…

Spinning and twirling about…

What a fine day for a lovely ball!  Thank you Miss EB, for hosting such a delightful event!!! Now, don’t forget to visit the beautiful hostess!!

My friend Carolyn and I have been up to sneekiness.  In the depths of twilight…

Under a full moon…

I dragged home a huge bale of hay… Why you ask?  It is time to create this seasons Mr. Scarecrow…

Stay tuned on how that goes.  I almost hammered a nail through my finger last night!!  I have Guests here for a few more days.  And, I will be in the pottery studio down at the museum of art tomorrow! Yipeeee!  Any ideas on what to make?  More bird feeder heads for sure! xxo

  31. Shin says:

  32. Gorgeous Gown! And you just whipped it up… you’re killing me! And… I wouldn’t have the slightest idea how to make this object but I saw on ebay a superdiduper cool paper mache white ghost pumpkin. I thought it was too small though. I’d love to make one just absolutely huge! It was hollow inside and the stem/top came off so wonderful little pretty things could be poking out. Blessings… Polly

  33. Shell says:

Well, I only catch an early morning if we have gone camping. Unfortunately I like to snooze as late into the day as I can (and stay up until my eyes feel like they have weights attached to them). As it turns cool there, the heat is being turned up here – and today we even have rain – a blessing indeed!
Your dress is beautiful – imagine if you could wave a magic wand and make it into a real ball gown. Hehe. It’s funny how we still revert to childhood fantasies – funny and fabulous!
Happy day in the pottery studio!

  34. ah, dear friend, that is quite lovely indeed!

  35. Love your dress!!! I’m having a ball at this Ball. This is such a fabulous way to meet and socialize. I have visited your sites on many occasions and am always inspired.

  36. Leslie M says:

I love your dress as much as Gloria does. In fact, I love all the work you do. I’ll be back here over and ove again.

  37. I want the real life version of that dress!
You did a fantastic job on it.
I was in Toronto yesterday shopping and I found a store, Peach Berserk, that custom prints fabrics and will make dresses out of the fabric you design. I think you would make some amazing super bake girl prints in silhouette…on lavender and grey striped fabric!!! Yummy! I am going back there for one I found in orange and black, a totally gorgeous thing…only $395!!!
(Sneaking back without the husband for that one.)

  47. Nancy says:

Miss Vanessa! You need to create a couture line! We will all be decked out head to toe in polka dots, stripes and flip flops and we will wear our new frocks to parties that are held only during a full moon!
Have fun making your scarecrow…I can’t wait to see him! You are too fun and I just love reading your blog! 🙂

    Hi Vanessa:
Just a day after the Ball to say hello; I wwas in the process of making a dress when i stumbled upon your delightful website and came over to your blog and I screamed : ) I was making a black and white stripe skirt, burgundy and yellow polka dot top and the ribbon was vintage fuchsia and pink tasseled gimp. We would have looked like old version/youthful version: )
I did not blog it…I let my Kewpie Josie go in my place and I have to tell you she caused quite the stir : ) She is an imp!!!
I am delighted to look at your bold pink and black witch. She is HOTT!!!
You are exquisite with your talent
    Peace
    carole

  58. cruststation says:

What a beautiful ball gown, so fashionably late yet determined to attend such a wonderful event (I really love the fabric and added ribbon detail). The night sky holds a little eerie air with the full moon -is it preparing for Halloween? Now I believe the point your sis made about you dragging a bed, an armoire home on your own with precision…a bale of hay now? 🙂 Can’t wait to see your scarecrow. Have fun!!

  59. Beth says:

That gown is beautiful! I agree, early morning is the best time of day. When my son was just little baby, for months, that is when he would wake up for the day…so I fell in love with those early hours. It’s so quiet and peaceful. 🙂

  60. denise says:

Oh, I love that little dress, very very cute. YOu are so talented

  61. Art Tea Life says:

Your Dress evokes a Magical Spirit – Which is So You !!
It did not surprise me a bit when it began To Dance On It’s Own!
Beautiful Here … as it always is when I come for a visit.
I love being up early in the dark morning too….something very secret and earthy about it , yes ? Celtic music mists thru my soul and I want to put rocks into circles and harvest herbs and be one with It All…..I know you Know What I Mean. Morning Creeper You….
But what is this …Hay Bale Business all about ? Sneaking around in the dark…. ? hmmmm. HMMMM ?
Happy Autumn ! Happy Full Moon (what’s left of it)
Sorry to come by This Late. I am still making my way down the list of links on EB’s site since Wednesday night ! I am making sure I get a dance with everyone tho ! Even if it takes a week !
Thank You For This Dance – Your Dress is Wonderful.
    Love, S.
