Tales of Everyday Magic…

Could it be that a day like laundry day could set off twinkling stars of inspiration?

A basket of delights, tattered frocks for the line….

Everyday magic 10

Zinnias along the way, and a tiny circus suitcase filled with all manner trinketry.

Antique china dolls that have voyaged on ships through time, fast forward to today's citrus grove.

Loved times and years before by a girl, and now again by another girl.

Everyday magic 25

A few tattered roses in the summer's heat and some clothespins do juxtapose.

Everyday magic 6

And so we follow the stone garden stairs…

Guided by stars…

Everyday magic 4

Fueled merely by one thing, and one thing alone…

Everyday magic 3

Can you guess what that might be?

Through the secret garden gate…

Everyday magic 15

Come with me and I shall tell you what could fuel such an adventure.

Everyday magic 2

What could turn an extra ordinary day into and extraordinary day?

Everyday magic 17

And where might one find such kind of magic?

Everyday magic 19

I shall tell you if you have not guessed it yet.

Everyday magic 23

It is the certain kind of magic that can only come from one place…

And that is from within.

Within you, within me.

Everyday magic 7

The magic is inside you.

It can not be given from anyone to you.

Everyday magic 5

It can not be purchased or manufactured.

Everyday magic 8

You can search for it under this or inside of that.

But it's already there, right in your heart and mind.

In your imagination.

The magic is within you.

Everyday magic 9

There is no simpler way to put it.

I have gone on many journeys, I have searched all over for such answers.

And time and time again, it is proven to me that the magic is always and forever, within you.

Everyday magic 12

Perhaps sometimes it takes a little nap.

It gets shoved in the wardrobe for a later date.

Or perhaps, it's at the bottom of the laundry basket.

Just sitting there.

Everyday magic 11

Waiting for you.

Ever so patiently.

Everyday magic 21

It is there, burning bright.

It might seem from time to time that certain events or happenings, maybe even people, ignite it for you.

They might add a spark, but you are the only one who can ignite it.

That powerful inner flame.

Everyday magic 13

And so, because of that no one can ever take it away from you.

It's there, waiting for you any time.

Even on laundry day.

Everyday magic 1

Under the citrus trees…

Everyday magic 18

Through the dappled sunlight…

Everyday magic 14

In the smile of your dog.

Everyday magic 20

In the breeze of the pinkest petals.

Everyday magic 22

It may be everywhere…

Everyday magic 26

But it always emanates from within.

It's only the kind of magic you can conjure so purely.

It is unique and wonderful…

Everyday magic 16

Just like you.

Everyday magic 24

My dear pumpkin loving, garden dreaming, star wishing, curious collector of wishes and hopes.

Forever young in your soul.

Hopeful for today and tomorrow.

Cloud gazer.

Pie baker.

Flower lover.

Sensitive, introspective.

Wonderful.

You.

Keeper of all manner of magic.

Your magic.

Forever and ever.

Let's not ever forget it.

Pinky promise?

Love, V

PS:

I have been listening to one of my favorites, The Secret Life of Daydreams by Jean-Yves Thibaudet, whilst writing this.

My favorite version of Pride and Predudice… isn’t he just incredibly sexy walking across that field in the end?? Hugs! deb

  2. Annine says:

    Love love your writing…

  3. Nora Robicheau says:

Pinky promise? Absolutely. I quoted you, word for word, in my year of “magical thinking” journal and shall be referring to it often. Merci beaucoup!

  4. Sonia says:

The inner magic and spirit you refer to is The Holy Spirit that God placed in us. How often , or if at all , we access it is left up to us. It is listening to our hearts personified., going with our gut feelings, making choices between what we want to do and what we know is right. Living with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer for two years it is how I function daily💜 and I cast my light and praise to the Lord above. I’ve read your lovely log for a very long time and wish you love in return for your wonderful heart.

  5. I love how you can turn the everyday into a magical event. Your photos and prose warm my heart! Your little golden is so sweet. Our daughter just adopted a golden puppy named Georgie.
    Have a delightful weekend!

So beautiful. You have me dreaming of citrus groves and missing my big yard where I grew pumpkins and hung laundry out to dry in the sun. Time to hit zillow for some dream house searching. 🙂

Thank you for sharing this magical journey. You must have known that I needed to reclaim my sparkle. I thought the world had tarnished it but I now see that I was shading it was doubt. I pushed doubt aside and now my sparkle shines again.
Thank you for continuing to post during these very challenging times. It helps to have comfortable places to rest one’s mind.
