Spring Love

It’s the first day of spring on Wednesday, the 20th of March.

2 days away.

Fresh leaves are sprouting everywhere, just in time.

Arbors covered in climbing roses, beckon with a hint of baby buds, still forming.

It’s my favorite place to be these days.

Spring love 25

Under the rose arbor.

Bewitched by the warm sun and cool breeze.

The birds.

The hope that dances in flutters of shade and shadow, sun through leaves.

Winter was particularly long this year.

Warmth enchants…

Spring love 24

Bound pages of flora tales are read…

Spring love 13

Spring love 11

Always something new to learn, from growing things pushing up through the earth.

Miraculous.

Spring love 9

Paper like leaves unfurl everyday.

Spring love 19

We make early morning visits around the garden…

When the earth is cool from night, and dew rolls back and forth on tiny greens.

Down one of our many little paths we go…

Spring love 3

Sun through trees.

They have yet to get the memo.

Give us leaves, please.

Spring love 17

Fruit blossoms emerge in all their glory.

I bet in your neck of the woods as well?

Spring love 20

Peach blossoms, pink and frilly, where spider webs dance.

Spring love 18

Down the path still…

Spring love 2

Greeted by one of my loves.

Smiling and happy as always.

My heart runneth over!

Spring love 10

Remember this same photo below, a couple posts back, covered in snow?

Spring love 23

What you can not see in all the green above, are the millions if tiniest purple flowers.

A treat for when you get really really close to the ground.

For the fairies me thinks?

Poppy pods break open…

Spring love 21

Two times three…

And ever so many more to come.

Spring love 5

A little friend slowly makes his way around the garden with me.

(he will not leave my side, and has not for weeks, my sweet boy)

Yesterday he would rather be in bed.

But today, today he trotted along…

Spring love 6

Not too fast, not to slow.

Coming along he seems to be.

Some days he needs help, such as onto the bed.

Others, he tries himself.

He knows I am here for him for whatever he needs.

Willing and able to help.

He looks up at me with those big eyes, asking for a hand, when he doesn’t feel he can do it.

Oh please oh please, I beg in my heart.

Let him get all the way better.

That Matty Matisse who I love.

I cuddle him up in my bed, and think of how his loss would have been too great to bear.

Angels on earth, these furry creatures.

I am sure of it.

We skip through one of my favorite places.

Whispering….the fairy bower.

Where you can not enter without the proper chant, you see.

Spring love 22

We find our spots in the warm spring sun.

All of us thankful, through expressions and actions, no words.

Spring love 14

Even the quince tree says hello.

Spring love 4

I spy the tail that makes me extra happy.

(which I sometimes braid at night as he sleeps, and brush everyday, when he brings me his brush)

Spring love 8

And off we go…

Spring love 7

Happy for all these springy moments, filled with fresh growing things.

The earth waking up from a deep sleep.

Making everything okay again.

Spring love 12

Life will have ups and downs, and all arounds.

It will be so tough, so scary, so wonderful, so magical.

All bundled into one.

It’s a ride, every minute, every second, every day.

We can’t wallow, or say why me, why this?

Well, we can.

And sometimes, we really should.

With a good kick and scream.

But after we do, we just get back on.

Onto the rollercoaster.

In the adventure park called, your life.

There is goodness again.

There will be hardships again too.

Ups and downs, and all arounds.

Thoughts, and worries, and happiness and joy.

Oh, and here it comes again…

On this ride, passing by…

Spring!

That’s the gift.

New season.

New hopes.

New chances.

More love.

More smiles.

More memories.

More wishes.

More prayers.

More joy.

Love, Vanessa

Sparkly heart

What a beautiful post! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and beautiful photography. I’m glad Matty could go out with you and enjoy it. I love that it’s “spring” there! I live in northern Michigan and it’s currently 21 degrees with lots of snow expected… I’ll be starting my tomato plants indoors soon. Last year I started in the beginning of March and they were 4ft tall by mid May. 🙂
Your blog is SO lovely and I am so appreciative of you sharing so much! Have a wonderful day and my thoughts and prayer are still with you guys.
    *hugs* Lisa

  3. Sarah says:

Much like Lisa in Michigan, we’re expecting about a foot of snow here
on the coast of Maine. Though I do see the beginnings of daffodils
popping up in my garden. They are in for a big surprise tonight and tomorrow.
I am so glad Matty enjoyed the spring day. He is a special boy.

  4. Emalina says:

Ahhh what a springy blossomy all-together heavenly post! The place is looking so beautiful in the new bloom and your photographs and words capture it so well. Plus, I enjoyed reading that lovely book of flowers with you, the phrase ‘popular flora’ made me smile and you know why 🙂 We’re still waiting on our spring sunshine to start here (indeed it SNOWED again last week, bah), but the brave daffodils are opening out anyway and such a pretty yellow sight they are.
Such good news that darling Matty is slowly but surely wending his way to recovery.

  5. Pixie says:

Just the post I needed to read today. Lovely sunshine, blooming flowers…while here it’s sleeting. 🙂

  6. Marilyn says:

I am so glad Spring is coming to your part of the world. The sunshine will bring healing, I am sure. Lovely, lovely, lovely!

  7. Alia says:

I am ever so glad that Matty is able to get out and about again a bit. Spring is good for healing, everything is fresh and you just want to be outside. I am sure he will only get better! It is so nice that it is getting so warm here. I think I am going to plant some seeds and maybe some other plants this weekend!

  8. Miss Linda says:

What a wonderful post, it made me smile. Even tough spring will come to Michigan in a few days. It is snowing as I write this. It is quite pretty, but I am ready for sun, pretty flowers and new buds. Spring means new growth…Whisper that to Matty.
Matty as well as Miles look wonderful. Both are devoted to you.
Remember the saying: Slow and steady wins the race. Matty will do well, some things take time.
Still thinking of all of you, good health and happiness.

  9. Laura Tieri says:

Thank you for sharing Spring with us people that are still in the cold. They say at least 2 more weeks of cold days are coming down from Canada. More than the warm temps., I need sunshine. It has been too gloomy.
We just have to remember that pretty soon it will be Spring for the rest of us too!
I love seeing all that green & the flowers too! It’s also good to see Matty out & about.

  10. Carrie says:

    Oh dear Vanessa..
Im sitting in a hospital room with my young son, who just got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, your post has me teary eyed, but for the first time in 3 days, its in a good way… just what I needed, but then again, you seem to almost know what some of us need!
    pure magic

  11. Annalee says:

Happy Almost-Spring! I am so happy to see some of those beautiful flowers of yours… Your garden gifts such magic. It reaches across all the long miles to fill my heart with gladness & hope that Spring will come to visit us here in the still chilly Pacific Northwest soon. ^-^
Even more happy making than your flowers though is seeing Matty up & about. I’m so happy that he’s still plastered to your side. ^-^
Give your furbabies extra love & snuggles for me. =D
    XOXO

  12. Terri says:

    Hello Vanessa,
Your post is a beautiful harbinger of spring! Yay!
I can see it popping up all around you.
Your furry friends are so dear. My two bring me such joy as well. Emma is feeling much like your friend. Some days, she just wants to lay in the sun and be lifted on to the couch. And some times she would like to play for a minute with her toy. I too wish for her and your sweetie a full recovery.
Lovey words….I feel the currant underneath. Sending your warm and loving energy.
    Hugs,
    Terri

  13. I love the little flowers in the grass in my yard…blue ones and yellow ones, and of course the volunteer violets. Our peach, plum, and apricot trees are blooming. I take walks in my backyard round and round for the exercise in this lovely California spring weather…not too hot and not too cold. This is the way So. Calif. is, at least near the ocean…I was totally spoiled as a child living only eight miles from the ocean. Now I am 140 miles away from the ocean, so it is such a treat when we make a day of traveling to a flea market on the coast or just walk around Cambria, Cayucos, or Morro Bay…such wonderful small town places to visit. And I adore San Luis Obispo…I could totally live in that city! It is like another world with all of the green hills…almost like the British Isles.
I think Matty will be fine…with all of the love and affection you have bestowed upon him that is such a healing balm in itself.
    hugs,
    Miss Teresa

  14. Dixie says:

Such inspiration has come from your blog…I have never planted so many different types of seeds. Lavender, poppies, zinnias, marigolds, nasturtium, not to mention all the herbs galore.
They are bursting forth and it is such a delight to watch. In the past I have mostly purchased small containers of flowers and herbs, but this time I’m watching everything come alive from the get go. I love it ! I think I may have created a monster though…much to take care of in this Arizona heat. So much magic will make it worth it for sure.
Good to see Matty hanging with. Miles is such a luv…yes.

  15. Kyra says:

We’re in for a snow day today! All that green, I’m ready!

  16. Laura says:

Thanks for the beautiful spring photos, it definitely made my day. We just got another blast of winter snow here in Canada, so seeing your post made me smile and reminded me that spring will be on its was soon enough!
P.S. It’s great to see Matty up and around outside! And Miles too!

  17. Irina says:

One of my most favorite posts of yours, beautiful Vanessa!
Those fur babies are angels on earth indeed, oh yes they are…
I cannot even express how much love I have in my heart for animals…
It does feel overwhelming at times, doesn’t it?
And your photos are exquisite…those poppies! I love poppies…
No, in our corner of the woods it is FAAAR from Spring…
Snow, freezing windchill, and no green in sight. But hope, love, miracles…it’s in the air…Spring will taste sweeter after the cold!
    Love and blessings,
    – Irina 🙂

  18. So beautiful Vanessa,You still have that magical touch We all love. That’s why We visit you 🙂

  19. Is that the pink bow Baby used to wear???
    Pretty!
    Love the magnifying glass,
and I’ve never seen a prettier white poppy.

  20. It was from the same spool, but not the same one… awe, I had forgotten
    about that………sniffle….

Matty looks so much better…he seems stronger. I am sure the springtime is doing him a world of good. Spring is a time for renewal and rebirth. I am hoping the energy from the earth continues to heal him and make him 100 percent strong again. Give him a hug from me!

  26. the good news
    i was searching for —->
“”Yesterday he would rather be in bed.
But today, today he trotted along…””
    i always think
    if we can just hold
    our breath
    until the Spring,
then all will B Just Fine …

  27. SPF, I so agree. Winter was rotten….. Spring is grand!!!!
