Snow Fall Magic

Narnia came to visit as I plunged into our doodling fun.

I am still doodling, and hope you are too.

But, let’s take a little detour with some snow photos, k?

Snow fall 8

Sooo much snow swept in.

Day long snow.

Mid day snow.

Night snow.

All in Southern Arizona.

Granted, I live up in the mountains a little.

So that helps.

Snow fall 13

We spent so much time out there in it.

Forgive my endless photos, but I want my mom and dad to be able to peek in and see them too.

Snow fall 5

This was oodles of snow for us.

Deep too.

At least 3 inches.

Deeper in some spots.

We usually get February snow, but mostly at night, and like I said, gone by late morning the next day.

Snow fall 9

But all day snow?

 That’s a treat indeed.

Snow fall 14

I know some of you get snow all the time.

You probably are in snow now even.

But this sort of heavy snow is just amazing here.

Snow fall 4

So peaceful.

Snow fall 22

Those quiet moments.

Under tree.

Listening to the silence.

That’s my favorite thing.

Snow fall 29

Ocean blue sky.

Powdered sugar branches.

Bliss.

Snow fall 17

Matty has been sick, but I let him go out and play just a little.

Snow fall 2

However, Miles spent two days out in the white stuff.

Happy as can be.

He acts like he comes from the snow country or something.

It’s wild.

Snow fall 3

It felt like walking through a storybook…

Snow fall 1

Snow fall 6

All those fairy tales swirling about.

I almost expected Mister Tumnus to scamper by, I tell you.

Silly, but true.

Snow fall 10

Snow fall 11

Snow fall 12

Snow man making is hard.

Mister Lovee, coming from snow lands was great at it, but his snow woman was sort of creepy.

A huge snow woman, all hunched in the snow.

So this morning, I made my own.

Here she is…

Snow fall 16

Miles kept sniffing her.

I think he wanted her carrot nose 🙂

Snow fall 15

The gypsy camp, all tucked under the snow heavy trees.

Snow fall 32

So many pictures I took.

It took me hours to decide what to share.

Snow fall 18

Snow fall 19

I took videos too.

I have not looked at them yet.

Can’t wait to.

Below is a shot of out back, by the enclosed vegetable gardens.

Snow fall 21

Then, looking into the larger vegetable garden.

So fluffy and white.

Snow fall 20

The cottage was extra sweet covered in snow.

Snow fall 23

Snow just makes everything prettier I think.

Snow fall 24

Snow fall 25

Snow fall 26

Snow Cacti.

How funny is that?

Snow fall 27

Plus, 2 Cinderellas.

Snow fall 28

No wheeled rides today.

Snow fall 30

Just hiding out in there, with my dandy little heater.

Snow fall 31

Watching everything get covered.

Snow fall 33

Snow fall 34

It was wonderful.

We played, and laughed, and made snow angels.

It didn’t even feel that cold really.

Up and down the path in Fanciful, Arizona.

Snow fall 35

Now, as I look out my window, it’s almost all gone.

Just my kind of snow.

Two days of fun, and then, adios.

🙂

I doodled a lot last night and this morning.

Doodling day #2, on it’s way soon.

Any snow in your neck of the woods?

Love, V

Sparkly heart

  1. Marilyn says:

Oh I love a snow like this. The peaceful quiet and the beauty are just perfection. Thanks for sharing it. We haven’t had in snow in my part of the world this year.

  2. carrie says:

    Hey girl!!!
I heard the news and I worried if you got to much snow or not!!
looks like God has blessed you with white diamonds!!!!!
    xoxo

  3. Kyra Wilson says:

Hmm, I tried posting a comment, and not sure what happened with it, but… Pretty snow pictures! We have snow here too! Everyone thinks we’re slammed because we’re in New England, but the truth is that Vermont is having another low snow year. I really miss the big storms and snow drifts!

  4. It is magical…and beautiful! A fairy princess wonderland! I love the snow cacti…how odd! It’s like stepping into another world. I’m in Florida…it was 80 degrees here today! Love your photos! Sweet hugs!

  5. Laura Tieri says:

You have definitely had more snow in Ariz. than where I am, just south of Chicago. There is a storm on the way. It’s supposed to get here in a couple of hours. We just got back last night from a trip to upper Michigan. My husband went skiing. I did a little shopping in town (great gift shops & art galleries). There was a lot of snow up there & a big storm hit there on Tue. It was like a blizzard. We did something different…we went dog sledding! Some of the dogs were in the Iditarod in Alaska. It was so fun! I played with the dogs the day before when I got bored. (two dozen of them) :o) They were close to where our room was. Some of the dogs reminded me of yours because after going the trail, they came back & just rolled around in the snow. They guy said some of them run hot. They roll in the snow to cool off. You’d think running around in all that snow, wind, & cold would keep them cool enough. I was so excited to see all that snow that I took a million pictures, especially driving to dinner in the blizzard! People would have thought I was from Florida or somewhere that never gets snow. I just happen to love it.
You hit the nail on the head! The snow makes everything so quiet & pretty. You don’t see all the dead stuff. Everything looks so bright & peaceful!
I have to check on the past posts & see what I missed while I was gone.

  6. Miss Linda says:

Oh Miss Vanessa, You have more snow than we do, which is weird because I live in Michigan. Beautiful snow photos. Suitable for framing.

  7. Dixie says:

Stunning pictures dear Vanessa…bunches more than we got in Scottsdale but quite surreal to all of us here. Snow on the cacti has always cracked me up.
Loved the birds perched in the snow tree, it reminded me of a Bob Marley song ~ Three Little Birds.
Can’t tell you how much I luv it that you share so many wonderful visions with us..you’re the best !

  8. Kelly says:

Vanessa, you truly encapsulated the wonderful magical land of Narnia for a short visit. I tried to image the sound as you enjoyed your day with Miles, Matty, Mr.L and your snow people!
We never got any flakes here just rain and a bit of hail. My teens were sooo disappointed. I showed them your photos and even though they loved them they felt betrayed by mother nature as they knew there cousin in Morena was enjoying the same.
The last photo of Matty walking away reminds me of the fox in Narnia. I hope Matty is feeling much better soon!<3
The photos with the Cinderellas are really ghostly looking and AMAZING!
Yes, I will continue my page 2 of doodling this evening. Thanks, V! 😉

  9. It looks like you got better snow than we did, Sis. Funny how you aren’t that far away from me, but because you are closer to the mountains, you got real snow. Our snow was mixed with rain, so it was sloshy and muddy. It is nice how it’s quiet when it snows, but I am just a sunshine and mega heat kind of girl. One of the main reasons I moved back to Tucson was to get out of the snowy and cold high desert of Albuquerque. I need some heat and sunshine, stat!

  10. Kimberly says:

    Vanessa:
It is a winter wonderland in your neck of the woods. Soooo beautiful and silent. I remember that silence of snow from the days we lived in Northwest Arkansas. Sometimes, it was almost eerie.
I just love snow on a cactus. What a contrast. A contradiction.
Oh noooo…I hope Matty is alright. Is he feeling better today?
    xoxo

  12. Miss K, I agree, totally foxy of Matty in that last photo. It was one
of my faves. I am so sorry your girls didnt get snow. I would be so
sad too. I used to be so sad when I would wake up to no snow on Christmas
    as a kid 🙂

  13. Ksis, you know what? I am at a very high elevation, and if you think
about it, all the way up oracle road, and then through oro valley keeping on
oracle is all uphill starting at river rd. So basically, you are going
uphill for 25-30 minutes. Which is why we get the snow. You should
come here next time, it was so much fun!!!

  14. I thought for sure it was going to snow here a couple of weeks ago. We had the right elements for snow, except the rain didn’t come while it was cold enough. So…I’ll just pretend I was in your snow day dreaming away. The photos are so calming…snow does that to you. And the quite is like you said…just like Narnia.
    A winter wonderland for sure!

  15. Renee says:

Ohhhh, thank your for all the snowy pictures. It looks like a winter wonderland and I am jealous. I’ve been wanting snow here now that I’ve retired and home to enjoy it instead of having to spend the night in the hospital and stress about getting there in it. We had snow for 30 minutes one day. It is raining (a lot). We have flowers blooming, grass is green, hubby planted peas today. We’ve had a few cold days.
I love, love, love your snowy pictures and am just like you 1 or 2 days of snow then want it to be gone 🙂
No doodling yet, but loved that post because I have been accumulating things for art journals. I’ve been busy stitching things for the new baby girl coming to our family in less than 2 months 🙂

  16. wow Vanessa, I feel like its snowing more than any year I have ever seen for you, beautiful, Ive only ever seen the snow twice and never on a house 🙂
did you see the smiley face in the headlight of your pink bike?
    xxx

  17. Silvia says:

Wow!!! So beautiful with all this snow!!!! Enjoy it!!! Here in Barcelona (Spain) it never snows :((
    Have a great weekend!

  18. Christy says:

wow, what a beautiful winter wonderland!

  19. dena miller says:

    Vanessa,
The photo’s of your winter wonderland are amazing!!!! I’ll bet you had fun frolicking in such wonderment!!! We have been very cold in our neck of the woods with occasional snow and ice…Brrr!!!
    xoxo

  20. Sue says:

Your place is magical! How wonderful! We didn’t get anything quite like that up here.
It came down up here. I saw mostly hail in my parts, but the news was saying snow, perhaps a mixture in some parts. I know it was snow out in Cave Creek, but I don’t know about Scottsdale.
What I experienced up here was hail that came down so fast that it accumulated on the roads. My car was sliding so I pulled over until it passed and then I waited about twenty minutes until car traffic melted the stuff on the road. It did look really neat on the desert floor.

  21. Emalina says:

A wonderful winterland! I adore your photos, particularly those of the snow capped mountains behind the garden. And how magical does the snow look on your garden arches and ornaments! We’re no longer in Narnia here, but I’ve just put my up last set of snow photos at kiki and the gypsy – I went balmy taking so many shots as we were snowed in for nearly a fortnight! Quite a relief to have seen the back of it now, I do so long for the spring…

  22. Melanie says:

Oh! What wonderful pictures. Snow makes everything prettier, indeed! I can’t believe I’m looking at pictures from Arizona. Winter storm Q is supposed to hit the northeast this weekend, but here on LI, we’re supposed to get mostly rain.
It doesn’t snow nearly as much as it used to when I was young. The winter of ’93/’94 we had 17 storms. I’ll never forget it. Even this snow lover was sick and tired of it that winter! Thanks for sharing your winter wonderland.

  23. Sonya says:

Wow awesome Vanessa! Please never apologize for too many of your delightful pictures…i don’t think there’s any such thing as too many ;). Thanks for sharing!

  24. Betty says:

    Hello to you, Miss Vanessa!
I’m glad you got to be treated to some nice snow in your part of the world! Here in Maine, we are supposed to get more snow tonight and tomorrow and then….even more, I’m sure!!! It’s not much of a treat to us here, we are more than ready for it to be GONE, but it does look cute on your cacti!!!
Wishing you, Mr. Lovey, Matty and Miles a beautiful weekend!
    Betty

  25. Misha DawaiOser says:

That’s so pretty. Such thick snow and magical delight. Thanks for sharing.

  26. The picture of the arbor and the hanging lantern looks like Narnia. When we went to the El Capitan, in Hollywood to see the Narnia movie they had live people dressed up as Centaurs on the side and when the movie started they had fake snow falling. It was so Magical. After the movie we got to see the props: The huge wardrobe, costumes, weapons and more.

  27. Sandra Sheets says:

Beautiful magical photos! No snow here in Florida so I really appreciate sharing yours!

  28. Linda Diane says:

Oh, your snow scenes are sooo beautiful! You have so many lovely shapes for snow to fall upon!! No snow for us here in North Texas.
I’m so sorry Matty wasn’t feeling well. I hope he is all better now.
Your snow woman is very sweet. I must admit that I was kinda hopin’ to get a peek at Mr. Lovee’s creepy snow woman as well. ; )

  29. Lisa Swifka says:

It all looks so lovely wintery and wonderlandish but I agree…..two days would be fun but that’s it! Great photos though!!!! When I lived in Minnesota I thought the first snows were so amazing but some winters after a couple months of trying to get around I was well over it – though I didn’t like the humid hot summers either.
Poor Matty, I hope he’s ok.
    XOXO
    L.

  30. Theresa says:

Isn’t a fresh snowfall simply magical? So happy that you got to take all those wonderful photos!!!! And your snow woman is adorable! What snow lands does Mr. Lovey hail from? I am a tried and true New Englander (born in Massachusetts and spent most of my life in Connecticut), so I am accustomed to snow. I hope Mr. Matty is feeling better now. Give him a hug from me!

  31. maria says:

Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!! We had a snow storm too! 😀

  32. So nice. Snow gives everything a makeover.
Now I have to see Lovee’s snowman.
Was it rude? Or just odd?

  33. Oh such Pretty, pretty pictures! Thank you for sharing. I especially like the snow on cacti ones. We’ve had snow here in Denver the last few days. That’s when we know Spring is not far behind.
    Have a lovely day!
    Tracy M.
