Of Hyacinth & Cozy Days

It's a bright grey day today.

With big raindrops and chilly wind.

The bulbs are blooming and candles are being lit.

Cozy day 1

Hyacinths are one of my faves.

The tulips and irises are peeking out too.

I adore cold weather blooms, don't you?

Cozy day 4

There's two very cozy boys, lazying about.

Lazier than lazy day for them.

Cozy day 2

I'm getting ready for a special celebration tonight.

I shall get out of my afternoon pj's and brave the wind and rain.

Cozy day 3

But for just a second, I'd like to stay here and sip one more lemon ginger tea.

Cozy day 5

My little fox is so sweet when he is sleeping.

I just throw sheets over my white slip covered sofa and everyone is happy.

Easy to wash and comfy.

Cozy day 7

The azaleas are waking up.

How I love them too.

I'd like to hang out with my boys here all day.

But I must be on my way.

Cozy day 6

Watering the pretty things.

Wondering what earrings I shall wear.

Cozy day 8

You know, all the difficult choices in life, haha!

I'd like to wear the blue crystals on my chandelier.

In fact I just ordered a pair in the same color and they arrived broken.

It's kind of fun to get to dress wintery this weekend.

It's not always possible in the land of sun.

I love scarves and coats and warm hats.

SO much fun!

I hope to spend my Sunday ready magazines and working on a painting.

I hope you are doing wonderful out there in your neck of the woods!

What's going on out there?

Love, V

See you soon a fanciful twist 300px

  1. I made a beautiful broccoli quiche for dinner tonight using the recipe you shared…way long ago! And I have some beautiful birds on my post today that you would like. You would probably want to paint some! Enjoy your evening my friend. Hugs, Diane

It’s spring here this weekend, which is odd because it’s supposed to be winter. But, being spring, I did some yard stuff in the front yesterday, and I’m just getting ready to head out into the back to do some yardy things out there in the mild sunny weather. I started a new job last week, so I have three days of trying to learn my duties to look forward to this week as well. I’m ambivalent about it, but soldiering on for now, and excited to look forward to being able to be out in the yard more frequently. Going to order some more roses to put in soon, what could be more fun than that? xoxoxo

Sipping my cinnamon spiced tea and dreaming of your gardens drinking up this rain we’ve been blessed with. Its all so beautiful there in your cozy home! All your colors bring such joy!!! Matty looks so precious there among your cheerful fabrics of such! I am happy to see your fabulous collections of paintings hanging up on your walls. Safe venture and enjoy your special celebration…..shine!!! <3

How utterly lovely is that azalea bush tree thingy? Is that what they all look like in Arizona? They’re kinda giant bushy mambo hedge monsters here in the south aka Florida — and they are all blooming, along with the Japanese magnolias, which is quite odd, because it just isn’t time yet, but everyone is muchly enjoying the pop of color — magentas, purples, pinks, and white blossom. They usually grow profusely along fence lines.
Now I’m kinda freaked out by your hyacinths. In a good way. I’m not gonna lie. They are PINK!! how beautiful is THAT?? I didn’t even know about pink hyacinths, I only knew purple! Such a sheltered life I have led haha!
Are these all from your garden? It’s just so swoony. Swoon-worthy. Like, you went from dirt to THAT! You’ve got more than a green thumb, you must have like a green brain! But not like moldy green but like mossy or emerald green. 😉
Yeah I am moldy brain, that’s me! Actually I AM pollen head right now because the tree pollen count is high and dust is everywhere! I was allergy and flu bitten most of February, so this weekend I threw open the windows and did the cleaning of the cobwebs and corners….I also spent a lot of time cleaning the kitchen because my beloved woofy boy Craig was doing all of the cooking for us (because I was under the weather you see) but….he is not a cleaner. But I am not a complainer! I whistled while I worked. 😉
I love scarves the most. Aren’t they fun? I do have a couple of “fancy” hats, but most of mine are the crocheted animal-face variety! 🙂
I love all of your doggy art. sigh. puppy love. <3

  6. I never fully appreciate the color blue until you share it. There’s a magic in your posts that connects the the strings of my heart. You pluck away and inspirational music is released.
Last weekend I went to a masquerade ball and wore a fancy headpiece that I made. It had silver deer “antlers”, peacock feathers, black & silver roses, and deep-plum colored orchids on it. The orchid stems had black, silver crystals and sparkling strands of rhinestones draped every few inches. The light caught each gem and made sparkles in my wake. It was the perfect object to pair with my bat mask. Hahaha…you know how I am…everything has to be infused with Halloween. LOL 😉

Hi Vanessa! I’ve enjoyed your blog so much this winter! Iowa is cold, blustery and icy in winter so it’s wonderful to see your flowers and outdoor tea parties while huddling under an afghan with a kitty or two, listening to the howling wind outside. I’m so excited this week to see buds on our young peach trees, and on the little birch my daughter and her husband planted last June on their wedding day! Our fierce mama great horned owl is jealously guarding her new nest, meaning we’ll have another clutch of fluffy baby owls soon! We’re just finishing construction on a new bath in the upstairs of this old farmhouse, and I’m going to buy paint in the same aqua blue as your crystals. I know it’ll make me smile. Have a beautiful week!
