The garden, filled with autumn flowers.
Sparkling at golden hour…
With tales of fairy tale magic so vivid I am inspired to follow.
To fill my home with some of it for the season, in a way that will last and easily morph into others.
Pink and orange dances together…
With twinkling fairy lights to illuminate the way.
Butterflies continue to appear throughout…
With saffron wings on leaves and all shades of dried peonies of spring.
Butterflies land right on the Fairy Queen herself.
She’s come to stay a while and is enjoying wearing a paper dress of antique dictionary pages I made a few years ago.
And so it seems, this Halloween will be left up to said Fairy Queen and all of her curiosities.
What sort of tales she shall tell us this autumn season, I can not wait to hear.
I woke up the other day with a longing for a fairy tale feel this year.
I was being beckoned by talking geese and butterfly wing whispers.
It all evolved in an instant and there it was.
To fill my surroundings with inspiration is what I love to do.
No rhyme or reason, just a need I have always had.
It brings such joy and light into my life – to simply ask what I feel like I need right now.
This year it’s all butterflies it seems.
The answer is always quite clear if you open yourself to it.
And all that matters is that it brings you joy.
(That’s the most important part)
Follow your heart and listen carefully, it will always tell you what you need.
Often we choose not to listen, but when we do…

October is racing by, take time to enjoy the season.
That’s my motto.
What sort of fun are you up to?
I’ll be back super soon with another holidayified area in my home <3
Love, V

Oh Vanessa, I just love the Queen and all her butterflies!!!
Dear Vanessa,
You’re asking what sort of fun we are up to. Today and in my case, I think I’m going to explore the concept of synchronicity by C. G. Jung. That’s because, lately, butterflies are popping up unexpectedly in my life as if they where trying to say something to me or lead me somewhere. I do wonder what it all means… Just like you I associate butterflies with the world of fairies. I love it when I walk in the woods and they flutter around me. And the most breathtaking thing happened to me when I was pregnant. Want to hear about it? Read this…
A Butterfly Tale from Another Neck of the Woods
Sometimes, when you least expect it, incredibly magical things can happen to you… I remember I was with child, my belly had not yet begun to show, when the woods surrounding my village felt especially fresh and inviting to me. Oxygen for the lungs and exercise for the body would do me good. And so, one day during the first months of my pregnancy, I ventured farther and farther from home with the intention of visiting three little ponds in the middle of the forest.
After an hour’s walk, I reached the meadow next to the ponds which is a natural airfield for butterflies and other insects. In spring and summer dragonflies always hover over the water’s surface and then, all of a sudden, they rush away towards the grassy land in a zig-zag-dance. The pond skaters stay back displaying their unique ability to walk on water, while butterflies do cartwheels in the air.
I was standing next to the ponds soaking up all of nature’s glory when, unexpectedly, one of those colourful dandies came fluttering my way. And believe it or not, it landed precisely on my belly! There it sat for quite a while as if knowing I was carrying a baby in my womb. I was overwhelmed by the ethereal touch of my gentle visitor. Had the fairies sent me this little fellow to bless my baby? It cannot be otherwise! When the butterfly rose into the air with flapping wings, I whispered “thank you” knowing that the wind would carry my heartfelt words to the kind and wise dwellers of the forest.
>i< I hope you enjoyed reading my butterfly tale. You share such a lot of inspiring stories about your life with us, I just thought you might like to peek through another one's keyhole for a change. Please, look upon it as a gift to kindly thank you for all the happiness and positivity you spread via your blog and art pieces. And thank you as well for being who you are. (Even if you were born that way I do think there is a merit in being the person you are because one never should take life for granted, shouldn't we? It is ever so important what you make of the life you've been given, don't you agree?) Lots of Love from one butterfly and fairy tale lover to another. Yours, Veronica
Vanessa, you are so inspiring.
I love this. The Little One, the New Age Hippie, has given the Life-Wise Poet good advice:
“The answer is always quite clear if you open yourself to it.” My heart HAS opened, and “it” gives me great JoY.
All my love to you on the wings of a desert sparrow.
Deborah
These are so lovely! Did you make all those little butterflies? You have such excellent taste and talent!
love & blessings

ps…hugs & kisses to Matty & Miles!
I love your fairytale marriage of pink and orange and butterfly queens! So inspirational. I’ve always thought wisteria marks the entrances to secret fairy lairs. 🙂 Veeves. You are so good at opening your heart, not just to possibilities, to sharing it with others – that’s a true gift too. <3 I have been too hard at work in worky word, lately. You know what i feel like? you know how when you dust and polish things, they afterwards seem to be more THERE? Shinier, brighter, clearer, casting pretty shadows on the walls THERE? And happy to be there. Well, i guess i feel kinda dusty, right now. Like I need to be more HERE. And you have a way of shaking off the dust, and reminding me that it's ok to want to surround myself with things that speak to my heart. To revel in the making of things, of creating happiness in my own space. So thank you for that! It is raining, as I type, and we Floridians get excited when it rains in October because we are waiting for our "Cold" (read: humidity goes away)to stay awhile. Maybe maybe tonight's the night! 🙂 xoxoxviiixoxox Roostah
What a lovely post, and the fairy queen is so AH-dorable. Pink and orange is a fun color combo for this time of year. I decorated the whole house with pumpkins and even pumpkin art this month. LOTS of orange and white.
such an incredibly fun time of year, cheers Miss Ricki 3
Oh we loooooove the rain here too! As I read in your last comment – Im still thinking about what you said about kids brains being rewired. I often worry about this and think about it – how living in a tiny cell of social media algorithm internet world can be so dangerous – especially if you do not know any different. I can disconnect because I can tell when Im too connected and I need to stretch my arms out and go do things not phone related. I grew up probably in one of the last generations to not have internet in highschool and earlier. When I went to college the internet world had just hit and people were exploring it. I can not imagine not knowing what its like to ride bikes in the wind and pick flowers off the side of the road – and not worry about what anyone else is doing or how if you dont document it it never happened. Yikes! I can only imagine the things you see and know – creeeepy. I feel sorry for kids nowadays. I hope they still have kid lives where there isnt endless worry about pointless stuff 3 3 3 3
Ahh this is definitely your season. I love seeing how you celebrate life.
I have been hitting the “pre-owned” shops to discover delights. It seems the employees there can not wait for “spider season” to be over with. I brought a few home (spiders, not employees) with me.
Hahaha to spiders 😉 Yes, they want to give the stuff away, so I bring my basket along too 😉
Veronica, I love love love your tale, thank you so very much for taking the time to share and typing your tale for us to read. Oh my goodness, butterfly on belly, how beautiful magical is that???? <3 <3 <3
Thank you for being here Miss Linda <3
Love to you lovely Deborah. I am so overjoyed that your heart has opened, the beauty of healing is the greatest gift <3 <3 <3
Thank you dear Laura, in fact Miles is crying at me to keep petting him whilst typing. He likes the underside of his ears on his neck scratched. He does not care how long you do it, he’s like more and more please 🙂 A gal on etsy made all those butterflies in all shapes and sizes, I really was happy to find them when i googled black handmade paper butterflies 🙂 <3 <3 <3
Butterflies make everything a little bit better 😉 <3 <3 <3
I love butterflies and fairy queens, but what is it about moths that frightens me so?
