Of Enchantment & Garden Magic

How to explain the where of where I have been…

Rose arbor 4

In my gardens…

I have been with knees in dirt, scents of earth, bewitching spring, petal gifts of nature, light of dreams, breeze that twists your hair over your head in dance, song of birds – moments so beautiful I have filed them in my deepest memories.

And somehow…

Somewhere…

In these unfathomably beautiful moments I have urged myself -

Willed myself really…

To attempt to capture something through my lense.

Rose arbor 7

I try for that moment when the sun begins to drop to the west, and graces my rose arbor with a daily gift so intensely wonderful that there is no kind of thank you I could ever muster.

Perhaps by continuing to plant seeds and roots, she hears me and knows.

I think about these things with each click of my camera.

Rose arbor 6

Plates full of gentle flowers.

Perfect golden hour.

Rose arbor 10

I gasp at the beauty I am allowed to collect and share with you through this photographic contraption of wonder.

Rose arbor 11

I pass the gift on.

Because really, what other reason do I write this blog for?

What other reason do I collect photos and moments and tales if not for you?

Rose arbor 5

It's all for you.

Friends, kindred strangers, beauty seekers, artful souls – nature lovers.

Rose arbor 1

Whoever is there, on the other side of this –

There is no other reason to do all of this other than to share it with you.

Some inexplicable need to pass it on.

The best I can do for nature – to hand you a slice of what I see without asking anything in return.

Rose arbor 3

Just to know that maybe somewhere, somehow, you have reached through the screen and taken what you need from the snippets shared.

Rose arbor 8

That's all that inspires me, and nothing more.

Rose arbor 2

No rhyme or reason necessary.

Rose arbor 9

And so here, at this beautiful golden hour in time, I welcome you.

I thank you.

I invite you in – always.

Rose arbor 15

Through the light –

Rose arbor 12

Into the swirling rose tunnel…

Rose arbor 13

That slowly beckons you -

Rose arbor 14

Embracing you in a little rose vine twist of sorts.

A fanciful twist if you will.

I had to seek within myself, ask, why I do what I do?

I know.

It's why I do anything that I do in life.

Love.

I share, I snap pics, I chat with whoever I imagine to be out there.

For weeks, months, years -

A decade and into the second one -

For no other reason than love.

I do it all because it feels good.

Good to share – good to be here.

Because a piece of my heart lives in this virtual theater space.

Because so many of you, I have known for so long now, are a part of my love for this.

This nonsensical dreamy fantasy world filled with moments of real life.

Merged together like a swirl ice cream cone, a place for you.

Seekers, believers, kind hearted creatures.

Yes.

That's all.

Nothing more and nothing less.

That's how I somehow weave my way back here.

Despite the busiest of days, crazy life, and that thing called time.

I seek the balance and hope to find it.

So we can continue to meet through the twist in the arbor -

Meet me there -

Here?

Hope so.

Sparkly heart

  6. Roostah says:

I refer to you as my best friend I never met yet in this lifetime, when people ask me who my best friends are.:) Because even if we never occupy the same square footage for a chance meeting, I think we did, once; hundreds of years ago, wearing our bloomers and pinafores and ribbons in our hair, we would burn candles and write the longest of letters, sealed with wax, delivered by the faithful frog king, wherein we told each other fantastical tales of gypsies and romance and queens and the ghost love story about the mansion on the hill. This is that, in the here and now, all grown up, and I adore you for it everso, because it is magic. I can always count on dearest Veevala to deliver roses and heartsongs and blissful moments that are worth more than any buried treasure, even in the darkest of times. <3 xoxox Roostah

My dearest kindred friend, I would like to ditto, copy, repeat that statement and raise it to the 100th power – I agree with you so vastly, somehow we know eachother on a different level, not of this world or this time. Deeper than the frivolities of modern society…. something golden, deep & true♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡4ever

Beautiful. There is just something about a blog isn’t there. Facebook, Instagram, however popular they are, just can’t beat the blog in my opinion. Special magical places to escape to and take time to read and dip into like a book rather than flicking/scrolling through. Thank you for yours. x

  9. Vanessa says:

I love the connection of social media but it surely does leave a longing for something deeper when compared to a blog tale. You can not share a vast feeling as you can on this platform, it’s so true. I hope to refind a balance & come here more often because I truly feel a void when I do not come here often enough. Thank you for sharing your thoughts Karen, I do agree with you ♡♡♡

Thanks for the beautiful gifts. I garden as well but am lacking the lovely flowers. How I do miss roses, and making rose oils. Many blessings to you and the fanciful beauty you so graciously share with us all.

  24. Jill C James says:

Your sharing spirit and beautiful world you’ve created is God in Action….and you are quite the channeler ~

  25. Melanie C. says:

Oh yes, that thing called time. It will forever intrigue and frustrate me. I have been reading this blog for a long time now. Life has gotten so incredibly busy with an elderly mom, and two grown girls who take so much time and cause so much business and sometimes tears. It is such a pleasure to every now and again think to myself “oh yes, Vanessa, must check in and see if she is still posting.” How wonderful and comforting to still see you here, with all the loveliness I have appreciated over the years. Thank you Vanessa!

  26. Miriam says:

    Thank you!!
    Beauty keeps us alive.
