Of Crisp Air, Rabbit Ears & Roosting

Before baby puppy came to live with us, and even before I shared some art, I had snippets to share that were almost lost in the way that October unravels so quickly.  You see, Autumn did in fact move in with crisp air and cool enough nights for roaming under the moon in flannel gowns.

The birds 4

You could almost see her arrive, of course, you certainly could feel her.  Autumn with her auburn and golden hues…

The birds 18

There was rain and clouds (early last week) with the arrival of dear autumn.  A delightment for a place that is always sunny.  This summer brought a scant amount of rain and little wild growth, hence the reason why bunny (or shall I say, "a" bunny) feasted on my garden.  Which, quite honestly, I am happy about helping him fill his belly.

Anywhoo, I am delighted fall came in with a bucket of droplets…

The birds 19

Peach leaves take on the most intense mandarin shades…

The birds 21

While other colors in the garden overlap, as your eyes mix them into tangerine hues…

The birds 20

We look on, enjoying the moment, lost in thought…

The birds 23

While I waited for my part of the project, and Mister Lovee worked on building my tiny wooden counter in the office kitchenette, my mind exploded…

The birds 5

So, I painted and painted this one day, and then drew on the painting, and painted s'more (when I should have been doing one of the things on my list)…

The birds 2

Until the sink was ready to be installed in my lovely wooden counter (a sink which I searched and searched for and couldn't find, so I ordered with fear from a random online place, and it arrived super fast with no shipping costs, and in perfect condition, YAY!).

The birds 3

It was time for me to whitewash and seal.  Progress being made, yipppppeee (yesterday I actually got water connected to my sinks).  But I won't mention the septic backing up into the shower and that chaos from the night before.  I plunged for 1 hour, like a mad woman, while Mister went to get a snake, and while he was gone I fixed it! (huge scorpions came out of the septic, eeeeks!!)  I still can't believe I fixed the problem, what a work-out it was!  Although, I was praying like a mad woman while I was plunging (can you visualize this?), so maybe someone else with more power fixed it?  haha!  Plumber love ensued the next day, to make sure that doesn't happen again ;)

My office and sitting room is on its final touches.  Won't you be glad when I don't talk about it anymore? haha!

While Mister had been out working on my counter (weekend before last), and hand rounding corners on the hardest wood in the world to round, baby and I played where Mister was working (this was before we had puppy).

The birds 10

And, I got this huge wave of warm overwhelming feelings.  I made Mister stop and I said, you know, today is one of those perfect days.  A day to look back on way in the future, filled with memories of working out in the workshop, and me and baby playing.  It was a lovely full of love feeling that I have stored away in my memory bank forever…

The birds 7

Simple loves.

Simple moments.

Oh and, silly rabbit.

The birds 8

Yes, this is the lil' garden eater.  I do say, he seems to be quite friendly towards me, and I dare think he is this same little guy I saved early in summer, what do you think?

Vanessa Valencia casa 34

He loves to munch, he munches all day.  Mesquite leaves and mesquite beans go right down, yummy nibble nibble…

The birds 9

He taunts me, I tell you, he even sticks his tongue out when I am trying to take his photo.

The birds 6

I have this big metal ship in my garden, and he always peeks his head out through it, I want that photo op!!  I will try to get one, it is so cute!

I always try to have my camera with me, because you never know what you might see out there in the jungle ;)

Like birds flying above, proving that autumn is really here with their same arrival every year.  I love the day they arrive, they look like sharks in the ocean…

The birds 1

There are so many, the photos can't even capture the amount of flyers in the sky…

The birds 15

They always roost in the same huge tree…

The birds 12

The birds 14

You can hear their huge wings flapping, as they make their way to their same spot…

The birds 13

The birds 16

One after the other, they land on branches.

The birds 26

Some even fall out of the tree and catch themselves halfway through the air…

The birds 24

Quite the sight, if you ask me…

The birds 25

You never know what you might find, if you always have your camera hanging on your shoulder 😉

The birds 22

I guess I had better go check on mother and the cats…  Oh wait, that was me channeling Little Edie ;)  I should say, I guess I better go check on Mister and the pups…

Oh and, thank you oooodles for the puppy and big sis love!  I have been kissing them so much for you, that I just had to leave you with this song

Off I skedaddle for now, much party planning to do today, YIKES!

The birds 27

Is the party really in 4 days?  No, c'mon, really???  Last year's party  feels like it was just yesterday! WOW!

Okay, off I go….

ps:  Puppy Matty is showing some extra bratinski traits, oh me oh my!!! SO cute!  He is playing with big sister super well, and bouncing all around like a good furry baby ;)  Thank you again for all the puppy love.  I cuddle and squeeze and kiss a plenty.  Does he have to grow up???

Looks like things are coming along swimmingly. I can’t wait to see your finished office.
Scorpions! Seriously? That would send me running, but then up here in our little corner of the world we don’t have anything like that, even poisonous spiders are rare.
LOVE that metal ship, where in the world would you get something like that? I may have to try to make one from paper.
Oi, I am so far behind, I really must go get ready for the Halloween Party!!!!

  2. Oh my gosh! You’re right ~ it’s Saturday!!!! I think I have your bunny’s cousins in my yard here on Long Island. My dog has become a push-over lately, so there are probably more than there should be.
On a side note, my daughter became hooked on your blog after I showed it to her. She’s 22 {Hi Nicole!} and a lurker. She enjoys your posts very much. {Just doing my job of embarrassing my kids ~ just like my love it never ends!}.

  3. laterg8r says:

i would have lost my mind when the scorpions came out “that’s it, i’m moving” LOL 😀 brave lady!
can’t wait for the party 😀

  4. Oh Vanessa…I was giggling my blond head off picturing you plunging in the septic situation! Was wondering if your hair was in one of those high UP DOO’s…falling falling as you plunged away…! Only another “up-doo” kind of girl would be wondering about such things!
Jiving right now to the song you sent my way! Doogan sends your baby and big sis pounces and wags!

  5. Chris says:

    Always Frabjous!
    LOVE that little bun-bun!!
    party… WHAT party?!?
    hehehehe

  6. Deborah says:

Oh dear, I hope that you were not wearing your prairie skirt whilst plunging…Oh Ms. Magical Vanessa, the moon and the bird photos are so wonderful!!! Brother Terminal Hippie is very into birding. I shall have to show him the photos and he will identify them all. So you are right on their migration path…what a lovely sight. You know, I do think that is rescued baby bunny grown up…I can see it in his nose, the same setting of the eye and the markings on his face. Anxiously awaiting Saturday!
    Yippee! **kisskiss** Deb

  7. Your new space is going to be wonderful – and it looks like Mr. L is quite the carpenter!
This post had so many lovely photos – love the shots of the skies and the birds and the bunny and ….
Can’t wait for the celebration on the 17th! Looking forward to all the magical visions!

  8. Lovely post as always, Can’t wait to see the finished office. Puppy is too cute for words!
    Take care,
    Tracy M.

  9. Kylee says:

    V~
Oh that little bunny is sooo cute. Especially the pic of him sticking his tongue out…I laughed out loud on that one!!
Love the pics and by the way I wanna see what that painting was above. It’s not fair that you only showed a snippet 🙂
    Have a fabulous day!!

  10. Kim says:

    Vanessa:
I can’t believe that you actually got a photo of a bunny sticking it’s tongue out! So funny and curious. Oh curious bunny!
I’m not an expert, but I think those birds are Turkey Vultures. That’s what we call them here in the California desert. We have trees that are simply overflowing with them. They are gorgeous. I love to watch them fly!
    Take Care:
    Kim

  11. Yes, you are exactly correct!! They are our pets vultures (or at least, we like to pretend they are). We saved a baby one two years ago. It had a broken wing and
came to sit in our tree, so we took it to a bird expert who fixed him right up
    😉

  12. sadira says:

V…I am super impressed that you kept fixing and plunging while the scorpions were coming for you. I think I might have screamed and fainted. And then screamed some more. I am racking my brain to try and figure out what scorpions in the drain must symbolize? I think you should run that by your grandmother. Let me know if you do and what you find out. Heavens…I am just beside myself to see the photos of the finished room (and your new sink is just darling!)

  13. I adore your blog. Your photographs are so fantastic and the words you put with them beautiful. You are so creative. I so wanted to be a part of your Halloween party but knew I could not be on time- maybe next year but I will come visit because I know it will be wonderful!

  14. That is so funny, sorry, I had septic problems this week too! Now I pretend I live on a Sail Boat and don’t flush any paper at all. This is the only thing I miss about living in the city, “Plumbing” But your bugs are much scarer than my little 3 inch roaches and we have snakes YEEK!!!
But it is so worth it, I’ll give up plumbing any day for rabbits, cows, and great hawks circling above, and a beautiful studio in the country, give puppy a hug
    Karey

  15. Krista Komis says:

Oh goodness, I know..the party is coming up soooo soon! So much to do, so little time…always. It seems you just announced it recently but it was almost 2 months ago! I started out photographing everything but then forgot and before I knew it September flew by and October is going fast too! But I promise-pinkie swear I’ll be ready on time! I can’t wait to see your fabulous Halloween extravaganza!

  16. Rhonda Roo says:

Bunnies with bellies and puppies and Humongous Clouds and birds… and birds in trees and autumnal flowers and buzzy creations and smiley faces in dirt to remind you of perfect days and oh
    big
    strong
    man
    hands
    working.
    Be still my heart.
Except for plunging scorpions, I do believe you’re in blisssssville……….

  17. What a sweet lil’ bunny foo foo, I’ll bet he is that wee one you caught…and he’ll love you forever 😉 So glad your a making such progress, yay for that V! I can just see you now plunging away, hahahahah. Hey, I’ve been there 😉 Lots to do for the party too, wheeeee…just got done with a mini photo shoot but soooo much more to do, yay!!

  19. Cyberdelia says:

Yaaay the party is so soon! The little critters around here are so excited they just won’t be quiet. LOL!
And ohmygoodnessnommybunnylove! That bun is *adorable*!!! I’d be like you if he was in my garden…I’d be happy he was finding food. Last year I had a ton of cool-looking caterpillars eat some huge plants down to sticks, but the resulting cadre of butterflies was SO worth it!! Yay for happy munching wild things!
Love your bird pics…and more puppy pics, please! 🙂

  20. Torie Jayne says:

So looking forward to the party! Your bunnies are the cutest! And your bee drawing is adorable! have a sweet day! x

  22. Gail says:

Fanciful Twist, Your life is beautiful and seems so enchanted. If I should start a blog I would call it Mr. Selfish, through the secret keyhole. Would anyone be interested in my life? To see his bed unmade, and dirty stinking socks that stand up on their own? How about a huge bath tube ring he leaves for me to clean. My side of the truck has no room for my dainty feet, I sit on a towel because he left my truck window open again and it rained. A snipit of my enchanted life!
    xox

  23. Miss Kris says:

Your magical blog always leaves me with such dreamy delights! Oooo…a PARTEE, I can’t WAIT!

  24. Pattee says:

  26. Shell says:

Scorpions!! I would have been freaked out and screaming for Mabel, my cat. Whenever there are bugs and stuff, I always call for her to come. And she does in her own good cat time.
I can’t wait to see how your place looks all finished.
Tomorrow..im going to take some pictures for the party. It should be fun. I love all those pictures of the birds. wow..beautiful..oh, the bunny is adorable. It could be the same one coming to eat and say hi to you.

  27. HouseHold6 says:

  32. Amada Lebel says:

Oh, I love bunnies except for when they eat my perenials. We have wild ones here and some years they are so plentiful that I feel like I live in a storybook. Lovely pics, can’t wait till Saturday!

  34. Sophia says:

Your photos are great! Looking forward to seeing your finished office. 🙂

  35. You are one brave girl! Gosh! I would have been standing up on a toilet (if there was one in the room to stand upon) and freaking out if scorpions came out of a drain…Yes, and some other power must have been nearby to watch over you as you plunged away, dear girl.
The vulture photos are amazing…I love birds, I have dreams where I am flying, it is so much fun! I am looking forward to viewing all of the lovely blogs for the party…thank you for beginning such an awesome tradition for your fellow bloggers to participate in!

  36. michelle says:

  37. kathryn says:

What sort of camera do you use for your blog? Very nice.

  38. Theresa says:

Such lovely photos! I know bunnies eat up all the garden goodies, but they are just oh so cute. I love to see them scampering about our yard.
I agree with the other Teresa who posted…if I saw scorpions rising out of a drain, I would run screaming from the room! I commend you for your tenacity and applaud you for fixing the solution yourself! Hopefully, you didn’t have bad dreams of evil scorpions that evening.
Much luck and merriment to you with the Halloween party…if we don’t vacation during this time next year, I will be sure to participate. Upon my return from vacation, I will be most excited to visit all the party stops and join in – albeit belated – in all the fun and excitement. 🙂
    Sincerely, Theresa

  39. Bunny butt! Hopping away. So cute. Wanna’ “bite” it…ok, maybe hug it? ‘;)

    Hi 🙂
I have been reading your blog for a little while now, but I have been too shy to post a comment. But I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy reading your blog. 46. vaginal odor says:

I’m specifically curious about whether infections (if so, which ones)
cause increased ear wax? If so, what function would the ear wax serve?
I’ve noticed increased ear wax when I’m sick so I’m just looking to
understand why this might happen. Or is it dust?
