October 31st

This is Halloweeeen, this is Hallloweeeeen!

Halloween Garden 1

Thank you to each and every one who hosted a Halloween Party on October 27th, and those who popped in just to party with us too.  I saw you there 😉

It was a blast!

You all out-did yourselves, what an awesome kindred gathering of whimsical hearts!!

And, to anyone who forgot to post a party or couldn't post a party for some reason or another, please don't fret.  I know life happens.  I do.

As for today…

And yesterday…

There have been preparations in the garden for our tradition.

A Halloween feast!

Halloween Garden 6

The mysterious autumn sunsets, and the glowing moon coming over the great big mountains, have been more than gasp worthy these last few days.

Halloween Garden 14

Little creatures pop into proper frocks…

Halloween Garden 8

Masks on faces…

And a little basket treat from Tracy for Miss Tattered Raggedy (thank you Tracy!!).

Halloween Party 21

We are collecting blooms for the table, and working up a spooktacular menu.

Halloween Garden 12

Zinnia petals like paper.

So many watercolor shades.

Perfect nature gifts.

Halloween Garden 13

Pumpkins get shuffled about.

As our feast will be in the front garden.

Halloween Garden 4

Strolls encouraged with glowing cocktails in hand.

Halloween Garden 3

Mesquite trees hang on to the last days of leaves on limbs.

Halloween Garden 11

Rake here, rake there.

Light a Jack-o-Lantern.

And then a curious sound…

Halloween Garden 5

Hawks arrive, finding a cozy spot, high up in a cloud tall eucalyptus tree.

Halloween Garden 15

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrarwk….

Halloween Garden 16

Everyone puts on their costumed best.

Halloween Garden 17

Pups chew on this or that outside the office, as I run about.

Halloween Garden 7

Getting their costumes ready of course.

Click!

Gotcha Matty 😉

(hates having his pic taken)

Halloween Garden 19

Sun fades.

Moon captivates over mountain tops, through branches…

Golden beams.

Halloween Garden 18

Twinkly lights go on.

And so….

We begin our Halloween festivities!!!!

Halloween Party 19

A Halloween feast this eve.

Right here.

Under the stars and moon and trees.

Halloween Party 20

Let the magic begin!!!!!!!

(this pic below, to me is, what a hauntingly beautiful violin tune might look like)

Halloween garden 10

Of course, right now, it's still morning…

So I best start the caramel corn.

Oven baking butter brown sugar scent, on this Halloweeeeeeen!

Halloween Garden 9

Happy Haaaaaappy Halloween Friends!

Stay safe, and have goblin gobs of fun!

Hearts to all affected by the storm.

So many thoughts.

    Vanessa:
What a lovely evening party you’ll have. I adore the contrast between the Halloween pumpkins and the colorful zinnias. I spied with my little Halloween eye…a few morning glory blossoms. I have a few too!
Have a fantastic party and dance the night away!
    xoxo

  7. Laura T. says:

    Happy Halloween to you!
Your party was great! I still haven’t finished going to all the other ones yet!
It’s so fun because I’ve found so many other who love Halloween as much as I do.
Usually I seem a bit different from everyone else. Around here I fit in!!!
The trick or treaters will be here soon…I better get the candy ready!

  8. Candace says:

Have the happiest of happy Halloweens. The Hip Classic City is rockin’ it this year. My furries say Boo…. one from the Rainbow, but three are still here. Your site is better than best and always brings cheer.

  9. Katarina says:

What lovely zinnias, lights and – as usual – doggies 🙂 It’s strange to blog hop the Americas this Halloween, some have snow, some have a flower garden in full bloom, and some have had to evacuate due to storms and floods…
Thank you for always bringing us such inspiring pictures, and have a great Halloween!

  10. Pat says:

I’m so sorry I missed the party! 🙁 I know it was fantabulous…lots of spooky, crawly, weird sounding things. So glad you and everyone else had a fun time!
Everything looks just gorgeous for your Halloween dinner…love all the lights, pumpkins and yes, the boys. Enjoy your evening!
    xo

  11. Boooooootiful festive Halloween makings!!!
Tonight the wee ones come out of their houses and stroll the streets of our neighborhood for treats. Two weeks ago Honey Man can home with 3 gigantic bags of candy for the wee trickers and treaters. A week later and half of one bag down, Queenie had to scurry away the candy to a secret hiding place for there would be nothing left for this night of nights. I truly think guys having bigger sweet tooths than gals even though we get the rap for being chocoholics -lol-
Happy Haaaaaapy Halloween to you too!
    Always, Queenie

  12. Jessica says:

Happy Halloween Vanessa!!!!! I am so excited! Who are you dressing up as?? I am debating between the wonderful Alice costume my mom made for me last year (OMG last year….how can time fly by so quickly??) or Hermione 🙂 I have a Gryffindor tie and badge, and also Hermione’s ear rings, bag, wand, love potion, and time turner. (I have been collecting all of these artifacts since about 3rd grade…) Which would be better? 🙂 Have a spooky day!

  13. I say Hermione 🙂 As one last hurrah to HP

Sorry I missed your party, but Mickey and Minnie say hi!

  17. Shell says:

Wow..what a lovely place to have a Halloween feast. Wishing you a blessed and truly magical Halloween, Lady V.

  18. Lovely Halloween post, Vanessa
It has all of the ambiance of a very special feast.
I am off to a real live tea luncheon tomorrow, a hundred miles away…they didn’t know it was my birthday (tomorrow), but found out from the two gals I am riding over with, I hope they don’t do much for me…as I didn’t want to ‘rain on their parade’ so to speak, just because I wasn’t the one to let them know they were having the tea party on my birthday…you know how that goes. I just want to have a relaxing tea time with a ‘no big deal’ about my birthday.
    Ta! Ta!
    hugs,
    Miss Teresa

  19. KatieJ says:

This is so amazingly beautiful! And in Arizona too?? I didn’t know you could have such amazing gardens here, you make me want to try harder at growing green things!

  20. Cameron says:

    A magical day!
My little Sally (from Nightmare Before Christmas) had her little friends over…..Capt. Hook, Rapunzel, a witch and a vampire….and they all went trick or treating with Jack Skellington (my Husband) whilst a pirate lower in ranking than Capt. (me) dealt with tricks and treats from other fantastic visitors 🙂
All the while, the jack o lanterns grimaced and grinned and the (sound effect) thunderstorm raged on!
    Happy Halloween, Dear Vanessa!

  21. Susan G says:

Congrats to the winner! Happy Halloween and Blessed Samhain!! I didn’t even know there was such a magazine!
Thanks to SANDY (we were dead center of landfall)I was without power, cable, water, septic etc for almost 3 days…still visiting Halloween parties.
we lost a lot of trees, saly one was a beautiful blue Spruce, son thinks we might be able to safe it is it healthy and the ground it still wet (it was up rooted, but it is being held up by a maple tree so not quite totally out of the ground. we also lost one of our HUGE, ancient yet healthy pines…it is in our neighbors yard now…they lost their Old mud room…NOT from our tree though.
Ron is in the hospital again (3rd time since June) he was in the CCU – glucose thru the roof and A-Fib..due to a necrotic toe…which we think happened the night he fell outside (19th0 I saw his feet earlier that week and they were ok. Now in Telemetry and out of critical condition…YEA!! but they are going to take the toe…BOO! but it is good also to keep the infection from spreading. They are going to do a complete cardiac work up first.
Life has really been crappy for us lately. UGH!
    Congrats on being published!
    BB,
    Susan

  22. Rachel says:

Happy Halloween. Hope you had a fabulous party and don’t have to much tidying up to do today. 🙂

  23. Emalina says:

  26. Kyra says:

Really, just an amazing garden! Love it!

  27. Betty says:

    Dearest Dear Miss Vanessa,
I’m so sorry I didn’t come see you yesterday, Dear Lady! I hope your Halloween day was fun, fun and fun! Your garden is SO, so beautiful! Just a gorgeous riot of colors! I am especially in love with your violin music photo!!! Isn’t it funny that Matty does not like to have his picture taken?? I dog-sat my neighbor’s two barely-there dogs (chihuahua and pomeranian mix) and when I tried to take a picture of them, they skittered under the kitchen table to hide! Until then, I had no idea that some dogs don’t like it! My dear Blinken and Chloe were apparently both big hams for having their pictures taken! So funny!
Wishing you more beautiful days in your gorgeous garden, Miss Vanessa! We “weathered” the storm here in Western Maine just fine. Lots of wind and rain, but absolutely nothing compared to some of the other devastation in other places like NY, NJ and everywhere else. We were very, very lucky.
    Hugs to you,
    Betty

  28. Your “Sleepy Hallow” tree is a keeper….I see new postcards in the future?
Thank you for your toil & trouble, your inspiration bubbles over…🖤Debi

Halloween came and went too soon didn’t it?
    Take Care,
    Tracy M.

  33. Good Morning Vanessa! I just e-mailed you to get the details on My AMAZING and so GENEROUS winnings. Hugs and blessings Denise
