Hola!
I am just finishing up some painting I have been working on, so I thought I would take a break and pop in for a little random chit chat.
It’s so nice out.
Sometimes, in order to retain a measure of sanity, you have to get bejeweled to go out for a stroll in the garden.
Pull out a little Frida Kahlo, just for kicks.
On those strolls through our Fanciful, Arizona…
Bit of a ghost town.
I can only handle 3 ringed fingers at a time, you?
Otherwise the clanking between fingers feels way too unnatural and odd.
I wonder when and if Frida ever took her rings off?
The center amethyst ring (called a poison ring) I am wearing is very dear to me because I got it when I was 17 years old.
(I started collecting jewelry very young, around 5 years old believe it or not – Mombie has mass tales)
I got the amethyst ring on one of my first thrifting adventures on 4th avenue in Tucson.
It opens up, and you can store all sorts of curious items inside.
As you can tell, it’s been through a lot, all dinged up.
Around 1994, the latch fell off, and it kept opening up.
So what I did is that, I filled it with things.
Little teeny tiny bits and bobs, and then I special metal glued it shut.
I don’t even remember what I put inside anymore.
And it can’t be opened, it’s too sealed.
So, that’s a little fun tid-bit.
A time capsule in a way.
Guess what?
Those homemade twix bars?
OH MY GOODNESS!
Here are some of the batch I made…
They were unreal.
Awesome.
Outrageous.
Better than I ever could have imagined.
You will faint if you make them.
I put on a very thin coat of chocolate.
I made two changes.
In the caramel, I used no vanilla (makes caramel taste yuck to me), and I used brown sugar instead of white.
They were beyond words.
The cookie part was just…
I can’t even tell you, just make them.
K?
How about an appallingly ratty picture?
Filled with love?
I never want my picture taken.
Unless I have on a super nice frock and full hair and make-up.
Which working from home happens almost never.
Who wants to post rotten pics of themselves?
I don’t know?
(I LOVE to dress up, which I loved about real world jobs)
Anyhow, after a long day in my giant, knee length, paint covered horrid blue sweatshirt…
I cozied up on the couch.
Unruly hair and all.
As my Greek ex would have said…
Moromou, your hairs are a huge disasters 🙂
Miley cozied up with me.
And we fell asleep.
Mister took these bizarre shots.
At weird angles.
Doesn’t my head look funny?
Alas, it’s a pic of love.
Ain’t it?
That big boy.
He and Matty (since Matty got sick) have been attached to my hip.
(Matty is still mending for the better, hooooooray!)
They usually are.
Only now, extra big time.
Really needy.
Which I don’t mind at all.
They don’t want to be anywhere but with me.
Is that normal?
I never thought I would be a crazy dog person.
Thank goodness I was allowed to experience it, it rocks.
I never thought I would let a big fur ball sleep on me.
I never thought my life would be so intertwined with fur.
I am so thankful for it.
Love, V
ps: The moon, so pretty tonight!!

Awww… I don’t think that pic is ratty at all! It’s sweet – truly “The Picture of Contentment.” : )
Vanessa, I am heading outside to see the Moon here in Phoenix! Thanks for sharing! Sending an air kiss to you and your Furries!:)
ooo a nice ghost town scene…
3 rings max for me also…
I don’t care to have my pic taken either–of course, if I look pretty, then I will 🙂 It’s so nice to see a photo someone takes for love…dreamy vv ..I think the angle is right on..score…
My hubby is greek heritage.. lol @ the “hairs are a disaster” ..he loves my hair long so do I (and no, I don’t care if I get that rude comment..hippy hair?? no way! it’s Dyan Cannon hair LOL)…you were blessed with great, thick, wavey locks!.
My baby, Jazz, is next to me always… currently she is sitting right behind me in the office chair…had to make sure it was big enough for us both.. she can be a little miss piggy….pushing me away hehe
Hope you sleep well with this gorgeous moon overhead tonight…it’s sprinkling glittery moondust for us all 🙂
xoxo
Deb
Vanessa! I laughs out louds at your huge hairs comment! My brother-in-law, Lonnie is Greek so it’s extra funny….
Those Twix bars look super evil ~ shortbread, caramel AND chocolate….and that corner piece with super thick shortbread! Yum I am still forbidding myself making your Mombie’s caramel corn (made 4 recipes at Christmas & we’re still talking about it)
My husband & I are crazy dog people ~ they teach you things straight from heaven ~ now that my children have left home, my little dog is a fur child to me. (I was told I’d never have children and my dogs back then were my children) Lucky you ~ you are experiencing pure love with Mattie & Miles.
p.s. I can’t get going about Frida! She is so natural in her over~the~topness…..(your poison ring is gorgeous)
I used to wear two rings on my left hand everyday going to high school, and a couple more on my right hand. My best friend Debbie, who lived across from Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA (before it went commercial) anyway, we could walk through a field of strawberries to get there and down a tunnel that connected to Knotts’ and we would go on to Virgina’s Gift Shop where they always had rings for sale for a $1 dollar a piece! I still have those flower-power style rings. And we wore dresses to school…everyone did as that was the dress code! My last year in high school was when the mini-skirt came in but no one was allowed dresses or skirts above the middle of the knee…if the dress were any shorter than that it was straight to the Homemaking Class the student went and the hem was let down until it reached the middle of the knee. Just some fun nostalgic memories! Strawberry fields forever!
Dearest Dear Vanessa,
I’m just catching up on some blog reading and so I’m glad to know that Mr. Matty is doing better! How scary!
I think the picture of you with Miles is just lovely! I think you have beautiful hair, but I did have to laugh about what your ex had said!!!
You have such interesting rings and I love the story about how you put things inside your favorite and then glued it shut!!! I actually don’t wear rings myself and I’m sure you will laugh yourself silly when I tell you why! I’m phobic of putting anything around my fingers because of something very silly I did as a child! Do you remember those kaleidoscopes you could get made of cardboard that had one end with a metal cap with a hole in it to look through? I had one of those and I don’t know why but I put my little finger in the hole and then couldn’t get it out! I showed my mother, who panicked because she didn’t know how to get this thing off my hand, so, she cut it off with the grass shears!!! Yes! Here is this tiny little girl having something cut off her tiny finger with those huge shears!!! I still get shivers thinking about it!!! I can laugh now and roll my eyes a bit at My Mommy Cupcake in Heaven, but I was screaming and crying and so upset at the time!! So, consequently, my mother saved me tons of money that may have been spent on me for rings in a lifetime because I won’t wear one now! Nope! Not even a wedding ring! (Mr. V doesn’t care and just shakes his head when he thinks of crazy me and my crazy mother trying to get that kaleidoscope off my finger!). See? I told you it was a wacky story!
I hope you have a lovely rest of your day, Dear Vanessa and I’m wishing a happy and healthy day to you, your Mr. Lovee, to Miles and to Matty!
Hugs to you,
Betty
SO glad that Matty is feeling better. Miles is leading Matty in the right direction. Paw in paw. Such a cute photo of Miles and you.
Spring is officially here… in spite of our weather. I am happy to announce
THE ROBINS ARE BACK They came back this last weekend and I am so glad. Now the weather should become nicer and mild.
I hope all of you are feeling wonderful. Please have a good week.
I can’t wear any rings next to one another. If they clink, they bug me! But I do love rings. Especially celtic ones. We might have to try that Twix recipe! Oh, and working from home and not being camera ready – yes! I have a horrible problem with that, where I need to hide from the UPS guy if the doorbell rings! 🙂
I sleep with my fur baby too. Rusty (Rust Bucket) is never far from mama when I’m home. I actually love this picture of you. I know your blog is fanciful, but we all know deep down that reality is where we all spend most of our time.
Have a beautiful day.
Your jewelry is so pretty! I feel that living here I need to own more turquoise, I need to get on that. I used to not be a fan of southwesty style anything, but now that I have lived in Tucson a few years I just can’t seem to get enough of the desert and cowboys and such (in clothes, I am still not a huge fan of it in decor).
Any chance you might be sending some seeds along soon? I planted the few I had left from last year this weekend, but there weren’t many. I got a new hose and spray nozzle and am ready to get plantin!

Oh my gosh, is that the sweetest pic ever. Thanks to Mr Lovee for cathing that for us. I love visiting here, truly truly I do… unruly hairs and all 😉 You and Mr Lovee both have stupendously great hair.
Yes, luv the jewelry, but I also am fascinated with rocks and collect specimans. I have certification through the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and hit the gem show In Tucson on occasion. Rock out…right?
Dixie!!! I LOOOOVE rocks.
I my I love rocks.
I feel sad if I dont rock hunt regularly.
My fave classes at University were geosciences.
I think I need one of those certifications ;))))
Ahhhhhhhh!!! Homemade Twix…..I’m GOING to make these….I MUST! tee hee…..and I know what you mean about not wanting pictures of yourself, I used to take them of myself before I had miss…..now I take pictures of her all the time, I think the last picture I have of myself is from….maybe 1 year ago?? And as I am usually quite a mess during the day, it’s probably a good thing! tee hee Your the sweetest pal! Thanks for all your help and kindness! I will endeavor to comment more, as I have been rotten at this for a while, no? ; )
I can’t get enough of it…I took courses through Distance Education and then would run over to the GIA Carlsbad Ca to test for Certification. I did have to purchase gem equipment for study. I could have bought beautiful jewels and specimans for what I paid for the gem tools to sudy…but oh well, I did exactly what I wanted to do…study rocks and gems 🙂
The thought of a time capsule ring is just AWESOME!
Oh my stars… you two are just too adorable, all snuggled & cuddled up on the couch. ^______^
And Miles is so BIG looking! Some of my favorite pics are of me or Britt sleeping, covered in cats… ^-^
There’s nothing better than fuzzy cuddles while sleeping!!!
All of us who have fur babies in our lives are so blessed by them. I can’t imagine my life without my cats… it just wouldn’t be complete!
Glad to hear Matty is still getting better. Yay!!! =D
XOXO
PS… Those Twix bars are taunting me… @_@ I might have to give in & make them… then take them to work so I don’t eat the whole batch all by myself… ^-^
Make them make them make them make them!! And eat them! You
wont be sorry. In fact, they are so good, you wont even feel guilty
😉
Annnd, Mister Miles is soooooo long! Hes a bog boy!!
YAY for cats. I was cursed with a massive cat allergy.
SO sad… sniffle….

Hello I am so excited I found your blog page, I really found you by accident, while I was searching on Yahoo for something else, Anyways I am here now and would just like to say thank you for a fantastic post and a all round enjoyable blog (I also love the theme/design), I don’t have time to read through it all at the moment but I have book-marked it and also added your RSS feeds, so when I have time I will be back to read much more, Please do keep up the fantastic work.
love your little chit chat…pecha kucha, ever heard of that? That lovely full moon was in my window all night long…what is this months full moon called, will have to look this up.
and, you and the pup, sleeping on the couch…perfection.
x…x
My Magical Muse, I believe it to be completely normal that Matty is very attached since being sick. I have found it to work the other way too; since Brawny Man’s illness, his little black chihuahua never leaves his side. Sits on his lap all day long. Follows him to bed. His name is Gizmo, and one of his nicknames has always been Gemo. Now my Mister calls his little dog Chemo. It’s pretty funny, actually!
Check the faeries in the garden tonight; I heard there is a new one riding a teeny tiny Harley. **happy smiles** Deb
I believe that your fur babes follow you around all the time because they love you. Dogs are pack animals and love to be with thier pack including their human pack members. My fur babes, especially Minnie is always with one of us, either Honey Man or myself, at all times. There is one exception… When the vacumm cleaner (a.k.a. scary monster) is out and running… No fur babes to be found :o) When I pull out the scary monster I sing out, “scary monter scary monster” and they make and b-line for the doggy dog to their backyard kingdom.
Have a great day.
Always, Queenie
OH MY!!! The same with mine, vacuum equals scramming wildly
;)))))) Gotta love all the babies!!

I’m so glad that Matty is feeling better and I’m glad these two sweet dogs love you so. I love the picture of you – whatever yur hair looks like. Great post. Diane
Furry love and homemade Twix bars sound like the definition of Heaven to me 🙂
What fun jewels. I have some lovely antiques of my own that I wear from time to time….you’ve inspired me to pull them out.
I abhor photos of myself, I am not a lovely photogenic creature. Your hair is lovely as is the photo. Mister knew what he was doing. Enjoy your day..
Are you kidding? Your hair is fabulous. I think we have the same hair (except mine is half grey now). Mine will look like that when I wake up or don’t brush it, and I actually like it for a few hours. It makes me feel wild!
That’s a lovely picture.
Hooray to using brown sugar instead of white! That’s what makes it rich. And there’s no need for vanilla. You are a true baking goddess!
xo
Such beautiful jewels – perfect for strolling through gardens. 🙂 I, too, do not like photos to appear of me without being in full make-up, hair, and good clothing. I HIDE from the camera when I am not face-ready! 🙂 But the photo of you with Miles is just beautiful. AND I am THRILLED that Matty continues to improve – hooray!
Yeah, your hair is perfect. So hush. LOVE Mister Greek’s comment, though.
Frida is divine. I can’t do thumb rings, can you? I, too, have glued many a poison ring shut. Adam always sticks little things in my rings and lockets, too.
