There is an extra curious, golden illuminating light, that happens every so often here in my neck of the desert…
It seems to begin with a sky thick with clouds, who tempt us with rain.
Somehow, the rain catches a different air wave, and the clouds begin to break up.
Such very thick clouds.
Hazy orange golden sepia light pours through the cracks.
Casting the most intense curious light over the land.
Where everything glows in muted citrus tones.
Changing with each minute of the setting sun…
Until it hovers over the mountains in the far west, and clouds right above my head are illuminated from behind with this curious harvest colored light.
I looked up the other day and gasped.
Clouds in tones known only to painters from other times.
From other worlds.
Shades of clouds that only those such as Michelangelo would mix up on their palette.
I gasped again.
I thought about cathedrals with incredible sky paintings on the ceilings.
The other worldly experience of that.
And yet, there it was.
Held by nature, in the sky itself…
A passionate and captivating sky.
Reds and oranges and blues…
Thick tufts of condensed water vapor, floating in the sky.
Creating colors and depth – art.
Just when we think that art enhances reality, that skies like this only exist in painted cathedral domes….
Nature sets us straight.
Because really, reality is greater than anything we can think up.
It's free, glorious, mind blowing inspiration.
Endless and plentiful.
Fascinating and mesmerizing.
As I stared up at these pumpkin orange clouds, someone up above shook the proverbial Etch-a-Sketch…
Then.
Cotton Candy skies emerged.
Shifting with the light and wind.
Two fairy tales told back to back.
There for anyone who takes the time to stop.
Look up.
And…
See.
Feel.
Breathe.
Gasp.
Admire.
Bliss Sigh.
And maybe throw a twirl in for good measure.
🙂
Looooooove, V

ps: You all will never guess the ridiculous thing that happened to me.
SO silly.
I've fallen and I can't get up brings a whole other level to the tale 🙂
I slipped, flipped, crashed and nearly killed myself in the shower a couple days ago.
My first time falling in the shower.
Ever.
(shower tub combo)
I am bruised and battered worse than I have ever been in my life.
Soap under my left foot, and before I knew it, I was flying up into the air.
I landed on the bath tub edge, on my right hip tooshie side.
With a mass crash of horror.
Flipped around too.
I hurt my right hip and right tooshcake really really really bad.
Really bad.
I was thrown on the tub floor crying for what feels like hours.
The pain was so incredible.
But I got iced and salve rubbed after.
The pain felt like I was missing a huge chunk of flesh.
But I wasn't.
Just a really deep hit.
The bone throbbed and surged pain down my whole leg and foot.
Luckily, I am not broken.
Just swollen and bruised.
I am gasp worthy bruised.
Hobbling.
Can't sit real well, or walk real well.
Can't sleep well.
And hobble when I walk.
My whole core aches.
I can't WAIT to be back to normal.
My hip and backside are so hurt, it isn't funny.
And my left shoulder.
I have a bruise that is about 12 inches long.
Goes horizontally over my whole right tooshkin (derrier) and over my hip, down my leg.
Why am I telling you this?
Because, I am taking it as a warning.
Share with my friends.
Please get some anti-slip strips in your shower if it is slippery.
If I wasn't fairly young, with a bit of padding, goodness knows what could have happened.
So, if your shower or tub is slippery in any tiny way, take precautions asap.
Learn from this numbskull.
So you don't end up like me or worse.
I would show you the photo of my bruise, but, that's not an option 🙂
Trust me, it's massive.
Please be careful yourselves, please!!
At least, blueish black purple is in.
Isn't it?
(For all the years I have never been sick or hurt, this year sure got me didn't it? Weirdness)

Vanessa!!!!
I am so glad you didn’t break something! This is sooo scary. I’m glad you didn’t hit your head too. I am sorry that you’ve had sick and hurt issues this year. Take care of that hip and go easy on yourself. Don’t overdo it in the garden!

Kimcakes, I will 🙂 I’ll try to be good. I feel the most
comfortable when standing. Everything else is horrible.
I guess I have had a really lucky life, no major stuff other than when I
was 3ish (long story, lady knocked me back in the mall, she was in a hurry,
while I had an almond in my mouth etc – I sucked it back, was stuck in me
3 days -bronchial tube-, finally got taken out of my bronchial tube in ER after
I was passing out, as no one knew it was in me).
Besides that freak accident at 3 years old —-
I have had a life of good health, no breaks – it’s been so good 🙂
So this year (Or Spring/Summer) was bizarre.
18 days of the real Flu in the lungs – then Lovee was in the
hospital, then Matty, then me twice with the anaphylactic shock, then falling in
the shower, haha! OH MY GOOOONDESS!
Well, if things happen in 3’s, I should be out of the woods now, I hope!!

What amazing & beautiful skies! =D Two very different fairy tales indeed…
Eek! No more injuries for you!!! @_@
I’ve slipped & fallen in my tub a time or two… mostly it’s when I’m getting out. But I’ve landed on my tooshie-hip area on the edge before… OWIE!!! Such incredible pain! Gah…
I’m glad you’re not broken and just bruised (although I wish you weren’t bruised…) Hang in there dearie… you’ll get to feeling better before you know it! =D
XOXO
and a few extra to make the bruise heal faster…
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO!
^-^
You know this weekend my hubby and I babysat our Grand- Dogs. I took a shower at my daughters’and I slipped. For a second it really scared me because I’ve taken lots of showers before and have never slipped once like I did soooo…now that you’ve described all your pain and bruises, I’m thankful the same didn’t happen to me! But, I will have to tell her (or buy them for her) to get some non-slip strips. Hoping that you will get better soon. Go away bad times!
Oh Miss Vanessa, I feel so bad because of your fall. Please put those safety strips down right away…Hope that you are taking something to reduce the swelling and the pain. I hope that you are letting Mr. Lovee help you with things..You have to take it easy for a while. A hot tub would be nice therapy for you. Please take care of yourself. You are loved…and please be safe.
Mother Nature sure brought her beauty into your view…They are large photo quality as well as post card for your shop.
Eek that sounds really nasty. Hope you feel better soon. xx
Be healed quickly! Yikes, I can just imagine the bruising and hurt. Your clouds are beautiful, by the way. When I had knee surgery a visiting nurse came to my house and the first thing he said was to get a rubber mat for inside the tub and a non slip rug on the outside of the shower. I did and I feel so much more secure.
Even in your pain you think of others by posting the beautiful photos of the sky!
Thank you sweet Vanessa! I’m keeping you in my thoughts with healing energy for a gentle
recovery. xx
Vanessa! I feel so bad that you’ve been having such a dreadful year! You must be in such pain. Thank goodness you didn’t land on your head or face or….I’m thinking such horrible thoughts. Must change direction here – thankfully you are on the mend. The pain must be terrible. PLEASE be careful!!! We all love ya and don’t want anything terrible to happen to you! And thank you so much for posting such beautiful pictures of that gorgeous sky, even when you are so uncomfortable. I do hope you’re feeling better sooner than soon.
Vanessa, Wow Girl what a year U have had! I am sooo glad that u r not broken, but the bruising, Yikes! I am glad u are being taken care of and still have your humor! I know how painful it can be when you hit hard and bruise. I slipped in a pond during a summer trip and I had such pain and the bruise on my hip lasted for months. IT kept me from wearing my bathing suit the rest of summer. I am glad you mentioned the strips for the tub/shower could save a life!
The skies are such Beautiful canvas for those who take notice. Your pictures are Glorious!
Take it easy, PLEASE! <3
Goodness! or Badness! Oh, my, I’m not going to say ‘I hope you are all right’ because falling down in a shower no one can feel good after that. Crossing my fingers now, as I have never fallen in a shower or tub either. And I know you use Arnica like I do. Hypericum is also good for nerve endings.( At Vitamin Shoppe in the Biron small blue cyclindrical vials 30 c potency one pill at a time). It has been a weird year in lots of ways.
The cloud photos are unreal. Such luscious colors and shapes. Definitely cathedral dome ‘material’. I need another life time to create all of the ideas I have in my head, Vanessa. My friend Yvonne and I know for a certainty that there has to be MORE after this life so we can soar on our wings and be creative…there just HAS to be MORE! She is 86 and I was thinking when one gets old, I think we revert back to our carefree days of childhood in our thinking. I don’t want to grow up!!! Just like Peter Pan.
Enjoy the journey!
Feel better soon! Okay?
XOXO
Miss Teresa
Vanessa,
I just read about the almond that got stuck in your throat. My oldest son, Troy, (who will soon be 30) was laughing with friends/company while eating some tri-tip when he was eleven. Later, he said he couldn’t swallow and for 18 hours he couldn’t eat or drink anything it would come back up and wouldn’t go down. Finally I told my husband to take him to emergency and sure enough they had to push the piece of tri-tip down and he had to be ‘put under’ for them to do it. The first thing he did was to want some water as he was basically dehydrated. Not fun and it could have been life threatening. You are the only other person whom I have heard about that happening to them. (Of course it’s not as bad as the advertisements for the movie that is out with the hand in the throat!)
Ha! I hope you are laughing! ; )
I hate that for you! That’s a miserable feeling…and embarrassing…at least it was for me when I fell down an entire set of stairs at the movie theater. Skirt up over my head, popcorn in my hair, absolutely humiliating. I also remember that deep, deep hurt from the bruising.
I hope you feel better soon!!!!
xoxoxo
Stacy
Speedy healing to you Vanessa. Please be careful. You brighten my days so with your blog, I can not stand to think of you in pain.
Thank you
Beti
The sky is so beautiful in your photos. I’m glad that you got your camera and captured it to share with us.
I hope you feel better soon. Please be careful with yourself.
Such a coincidence that I’ve been meaning to buy new shower flower thingies for my own tub. They’ve been peeling off and it is slippery now. I’ll definitely have to buy some this week! I’ve had some very near misses over the years and have lucked out so far, but I once slipped down my stairs and landed with such a thud that I was stunned. I got up and limped away, but I’d bruised my tailbone so bad that the pain just kept building and building and got really bad and I couldn’t sit or lay on my back for months. So painful! I had to add carpeting on my stairs to try and prevent more falls – the steps are old and worn to a slippery wood surface.
Take care of yourself! Lots of ice and rest.
Nicki
That golden light is so beautiful! And the clouds too, magnificent!Hope you are healed quickly…
Aww, poor girl! You’re right, this year has really had it out for you! Well you’re in my thoughts, for sure. Gorgeous pictures, by the way!
Oh my…I’m so sorry to hear about your accident. Sending super duper fast healing vibes your way! If you were a roller derby girl, you’d be posting pictures of your bruises…like a trophy. I kid you not….google images. Seriously…if you don’t feel better please go to a doctor. You could have done some serious hip damage.
Your sky shots are gorgeous. Michelangelo skies….how appropriate.
Oh, I almost forgot…Congratulations to the winners! You lucky ducks!
Thank you for the gorgeous photos Vanessa! I love it when the light takes on that golden glow. I think it may happen when the seasons are changing, but I’m not sure. Sure is lovely though. I hope you are healed quicker than quick, and please be super careful with yourself.
Take Care,
Tracy
Girl…this post started off so breathtakingly dreamy and otherworldly with those amazing sky photos..then BAM…OMG…I am so glad you didn’t break anything. Slippery tubs are scary places…we use one of those mats in ours (tub/shower combo) just for that reason.
Take care of yourself my friend….and get that tub mat or nonslick strips ASAP!
XOXOXOX
Goodness gracious Vanessa! You poor dear. I am so glad you are (mostly) alright. I hope you get better soon!
Retta, hahaha! SO funny – you know i was going to post the photo –
but then I thought my mom would be horrified, as would other people, if I posted
a 12 inch long 4 inch thick bruise on my butt cheek and hip on my blog, hahahaa
heeee 😉

Oh, come on—-show us a picture!
haha – you already saw my blue tooshie 🙂
Dang Girlish! I’m so sorry you are in soooo much pain! It’s ever sooo peevish when the tub jumps up and bites in such a fearsome manner. Queenie and the Delicious are sending healing thoughts, prayers and furry love so you will be feeling better soon.
There is nothing, I mean nothing like an Arizona sky. Our breath-taking, sunsets during moonsoon season make all the heat and humidity worth it. :o)
Take very good care!
Always, Queenie
I am so sorry you fell, but I am glad you are on the mend.
Lovely photos, as always. The most contrast-y photos remind me of a painter Maxfield Parrish. He painted deep, dramatic skies.
Please take care!
One more luming around somewhere…be AWARE! Well take these warnings while your young enough to recover without having to morgage the “cottage”! BEE SAFE….that is my closing on my blog for a reason..lolololol 🖤DEBi
Yippee!! A gift! And a gift from you, my dear, is even better than winning the lottery. (But I don’t play the lottery, so that’ll never happen.) Thanks for thinking of your readers and rewarding us with giveaways. And for the reminder to look up into our beautiful heavens. (The hills surrounding our valley get that peachy glow here sometimes too. Maybe it has something to do with the hot, semi-desert climate.)
I hope for quick healing. Take care.
Oh…I know just how that feels..I am sooo sorry for you.
I fell like that (in a hurry as usual) Slipped same way only landed with my ribs hitting the tub wall. Broke 2. Couldn’t sleep, laugh, cough or even ride in my Jeep Wrangler ( anyone who has one knows they bounce). It took me bout a month to feel better. Speedy recovery to you. I feel your pain.
Beautiful skies.
Your fall sounds awful. I hope the soreness is going away and you are all healed soon.
Oh, I hope your doing better, Lady V. When I was pregnant, my husband got me those strips to put in the tub. Once you get those, you won’t have to worry about falling again.
Take care my friend.
I’m surprised no one mentioned it yet but, girl, get yourself some arnica. You can get the cream to rub on and the homeopathic pills. Helps tremendously with bruise-y type injuries. After our move, both hubby and I were a MESS and a friend brought us both and it helped so much!
As for the skies, love them. And that golden light, reminds me of that sepia type look the air gets at the very end of summer, just before autumn arrives. That and that smell of drying grasses are two change of season sign for me.
Laume, oh yes arnica has been in my family for hundreds of years. I
have been having arnica salve rubbed all over me since before I could speak,
hahahaa! And of course, right after the fall, I gently rubber arnica and
belladonna salve all over me. Poor tooshkin, it looks sooooo bad.
haha! I keep it in stock majorly. It does work wonders indeeeedy!!
Love, V
You poor thing!
Hope today finds you feeling much better.
Bathtubs are dangerous places.
Prayers for quick healing.
I always enjoy reading your blog and your art.
But wait…anyph. shock? You allergic to something?
Sorry about your hiney and leg and core, etc…. go to bed and
don’t get up!!
Oh wait, you mean, smooth and silky, ahahahhhahaheeee! Oh am I
laughing hard!!!!
So sorry to hear about your fall! I can (really) feel your pain.
Not too long ago I was stepping OUT of the tub and I have no idea who thought it was a good idea to have our tub on a step up landing. Just enough room to set one foot down and then a full step to the floor. Unless that first step SLIPS.
I found out that my bottom bounces as it hits that first step.
But not padded enough not to hurt.
