If it so happens that you are a guest at our house, and I happen to find out that it is your birthday (even if you are a full grown man)…
You can be certain that, if I do not have a way to bake you a surprise birthday cake without you noticing…
Then I will most certainly be sneaking out of the house, while it is still early morning dark, and procuring a cake. Aaaaand, I will be requiring you to make a wish as you blow out your candles…
And, that's just that!
🙂
Oh and, if I find out you L O V E chocolate, then you will most certainly be having a piece (or two) for breakfast, and that's just that too 😉
Because, I love birthdays.
Calendar ones…
And very merry un-birthday invented ones too.
Which is why I am sharing this cakeling with you.
Because, it so feels like the perfect day to be celebrating your very merry un-birthday, doesn't it?
Maybe you even feel like getting dressed up and skipping down the hall at work?
Or buying yourself one shiny red balloon?
Oh and, for the record….
Just because you are cute,
does not mean that you automatically get a piece
of chocolate cake.
We are getting back into the swing of things.
So much to do!
I have a valentine gift to finish for my very own self.
Eeeeks.
Can't let her down.
Must get cracking!
BTW
How are you???
Anything delicious happen out there in the world while I was being a hostess???

What a treat of a post. I don’t even like birthdays and I want to celebrate. Thank you.

That cake looks so moist and delicious! What a sweet thing for you to do. Is it Mister Lovee’s birthday? If so, yay – happiest of days to him…and you for sharing it.
Miss Lovely Misha,
It was our male guests birthday 😉 Mister Lovee is a June baby.
Oh, I want to reach right into the computer screen and scoop up that doll baby boy into my arms. That Miles picture is just toooo precious!! I love the photos in this post. Love the rugs (is that what they are?) Miles the Charmer is sitting on.
How sweet of you to treat your guest to a bday celebration! That cake you got is a true work of art.
Please doooo hop to it and finish that Valentine gift to yourself becuz we wants to seeeeeeeeeeeee it!
The cake looks soo yummy!
Your post made me smile over and over again. I love chocolate cake. Like air I swear. You’re so darn cute! Hugs, and have a wonderful weekend.
What a memory maker you are! And a hostess with the mostest to be sure…..
Made your lemon cake to take to our card game, then made another one to take to a lunch the next day (with the same friends at cards! because they were b-e-g-g-i-n-g for another one) I would have made a 3rd but ran out of yogurt……it is a REALLY good recipe. A cake makes any day seem like a party…….
Hello my fanciful friend – such chocolatey goodness over here today! I love birthdays too, and chocolate is the flavour of choice around here! I am skipping off to a friend’s birthday tonight actually – birthdays are so much fun – mine and other people’s…sending you big hugs from downunder xxx
Oh it looks so delicious!! /Therese
YUM!! That cake looks awesome, anyone who gets to be your house guest is oh so lucky! Um, I was sick this week, not so delicious. But, we are having a special Valentine’s brunch at Chantilly on Sunday, super delicious! (although I will be working it and not eating it)
A Very Merry Un-birthday to WHO?
To Me.
Thank you so much for the scrumdiliumpyumtious Chocolate Cake.
I so love Chocolate cake for breakfast. And strawberry cupcakes too and…oh the list goes on and on, but nothing is as enchanting as the ones that you always share with us. They always make my day more magical, and my little red balloon always seems to sparkle and take me a little higher on the days that you share.

I’m a real fan of un-birthdays. We regularly have them and cards to go with it.
Love the cake! super- duper choccie!
What a wonderful cake! I loooove chocolate 😀
Not much fun here. Bookkeeping, worrying about friends, too much snow, too little money.
But – today the sun is shining and I built a camera last night! Having a mini party here (coffee + ice cream) to cope with the bookkeeping…… Hugs!
What a lovely lovely post! 😀
Maria
I would have loved to be the birthday guest recipient of that cake and your kindness!
Delicious looking cake…so sad your furry friend can’t have any : (
Hugs,
Terri
I must admit, I picked up a luscious chocolate cake for myself yesterday. Then I brought it home and decorated it even further…with pink flowers on top of the yummy fudge frosting. It was like holding a piece of heaven in my mouth to eat it!!!
I have to tell you how much I enjoy your blog! I live in the country and am surrounded by loving critters and also (shhhh, it’s a secret) lots of fairies live in this land, too. So, my live is full of magic. It is fun to see the magic in your life also!!
Have a wonderful weekend!!
As it happens, I celebrated my birthday yesterday and had a scrumptious chocolate cake and candles as well! Great birthday cake procurers must think alike, me thinks!
Whilst I’ve already had my allotted breakfast portion of decadent yumminess, I think I may need to swipe a bit of frosting from this one as well~
OMG – Chocolate cake is my weakness…..it’s the best thing EVER for breakfast. Watching Practical Magic years ago put the idea in my mind that we should all have chocolate cake for breakfast!!!! LOVES IT!
There is nothing better than chocolate cake for breakfast! I love that expectant little puppy face! 🙂
I love you! I really do. Don’t tell Mr. Lovee! LOL… It was the greatest moment of the trip. I have something coming for you, too!
BTW: Tessa LOVES the gifts.

just last week

🙂
{{ welllll why not….
oh happy day
for everyday is someone’s birthday }}
I am going out to buy myself some shiny red balloons right now! Seriously….GREAT IDEA!! ….chocolate cake is not a bad idea either! 😉
That chocolate cake looks ‘to die for!’
Save me a piece!!! Ha! It looks incredible.
Well, I did just get my semi-sweet chocolate chips out to bake some cookies…I guess that will have to suffice for my chocolate craving for today…
And then I have been on Tasha Tudor and Family website and got her video ‘Take Joy!’ It is a sweet video and her granddaughter Jennifer showed some lemon curd tartlets that looked yummy so I went to Food.com and found a scrumptious recipe that looks perfect (and no corn starch added). So, I will be trying those next.
Ta! Ta!
Miss Teresa
Chocolate makes EVERYTHING better, doesn’t it? I love it so. I made brownies with walnuts today – for the hubby (and, well, for me, too). Kind of an early Valentine treat. 🙂 You’ve been such the busy and thoughtful hostess! I simply cannot believe how big young Miles is getting. What a sweet boy! Give him an extra hug just from me! xoxo Theresa
Please tell me that cake did taste as good as it looked. You know sometimes those pretty cakes just don’t taste as good as you expect.
Such a lovely post. It made me smile.
Oh Oh oH!!!!! Did you save me a piece of that gorgeously frosted and sprinkled cakeling????? I am so desire-ring the smallest little nibble please, or at least a crumb…PPPLLLEEEAAASSEEEEEEE!!!!!! Me thinks me and Miles probably begged for a crumb, even if only in the virtual world!!!! I LOVE CHOCOLATE CAKE…mmmmwwwwwwwaaaaaa!!!
I love this post! A very merry un-birthday to you!
Love, Tiffany
You are SUNSHINE and Pink Ribbons and all things that sparkle. Thank you for shining into my life with your creativeness and selfless efforts. Bravo Bravo to you.
Very Fondly, Theresa

He’d be smothered by me. I’d want to hold him and love him and hug him and talk to him and sing to him and dress him up-
oh wait. He’d probably just think I was your stand in! HAH! How do you get the pups who love to pose? how how how????
(I even see Matty’s paw in the upper left!)
I’m sending Buddy the Wonderdawg to visit his desert cousins and see if he comes back wearing ribbons and crocheted hats.

Aww, what a nice suprise for your guest! I bet his day was magical. That cake looks delish!
What an amazing chocolate cake, V! Lucky for the guest he was in your world for his birthday 🙂 Love, R xo
Miles is ADORABLE on the rugs.
He looks vaguely naughty.
Like he’s going to snitch some cake when you aren’t looking.
You’ll know ’cause that angely fur will be smeared around his muzzle.
OOOooooooo me loves your cakeling!!! Second shot made me squeal out loud. Did you hear me? Squeals of JoY. You are my happy place.
**blows kisses** Deb
Oooooh…. That looks so good. Yummy!
