If I was a Poet…

If I was a poet I would shower you with sonnets…

If I was a poet 8

Sonnets about being bewitched by baubles of golden sap, and the scent of fresh buds.  A scent like that of warm milk swirled with sugar and cinnamon…

If I was a poet 10

If I was a poet, I would describe my pale winter skin and it's slow morph into a light sand glow, from extended moments right here…

If I was a poet 11

I would describe the last 3 days I have spent solely in the garden.

How I have only been inside to sleep.

How I await the afternoon sunset glow with bursting anticipation, for that is the time when fairies and other winged creatures glitter in fading sun - if only for an ever so small window of time.

If I was a poet 3

If I was a poet, words would slowly trickle out on to the page, like syrup…

They would tell of the droplets of water that hit the dry earth, creating a scent unlike any other in the world…

If I was a poet 7

With the scent of water and earth becoming one, I see in my mind's eye, a ribbon holding a perfectly bundled parcel of memories untying and tumbling down ~ turning to dust as they hit the ground.

And for a mere moment, an abundance of childhood memories appear - spring time, laughing, running, splashing – freedom…

For 3 seconds and one blink of an eye, you are 11 again.

You can hear your Mom calling your name.  You can smell the green scent of the grass being cut by your Dad.

You can hear the laughter of other little voices.

You remember how your 11 year old self looked towards the future at your current self.

You look up towards the light…

If I was a poet 5

You close your eyes and feel yourself holding hands with that 11 year old self.

Nothing is as you expected it would be.  Yet, everything is okay.

If I was a poet 2a

You scan your mind.

You recall how at age 17 you thought any age over 25 knew nothing.  Now older, you look back with a curious smile and you giggle at the irony…

If I was a poet 9

Because, it is with time that you learn.

And, it is with time that life gets better…

  If I was a poet 6

If I was a poet, I would  express to you how being in the garden for 3 days, reminded me that you can't reach the stars, if you don't reach for the stars.

And that, reaching for the stars, is simply a metaphor….

Because reaching the stars is relative.

A sea of stars might live in simple words.

Words like, peace…

If I was a poet 4

Love…

If I was a poet 1

And life…

If I was a poet 12

Nothing is how I expected it to be, and everything is perfect. Imperfections and all…

Also - Trisha Yearwood may have added a major highlight to it all, with this incredible "simple" recipe (click here for recipe ~ give it a few seconds to open).  It is in the April 2010 issue of Country Living Magazine.

Mister Lovee left me a note on the recipe page… (I love his handwriting)

If I was a poet 13

I used dark chocolate chips, and not very many, as I like things a bit less chocolatey…

Yumm is not a good enough word for this…

If I was a poet 14

And with that, I say, Happy Bright New Week!

🖤,V

See you super duper soon 😉

    Bonjour V V!
Who needs poetry when your photographs speak volumes enough of bountiful sweet wonders… They are so joyous and uplifting! Thanks for being so very trigger happy… I honestly don’t know how you manage to do it all!
My little furless pup turned exactly 3 and a half today and he adores chocolate… a veritable little Lovee in the making! You should just hear how he pronounces “chocolate” it’s too cute for words!
    Happy week to you too!

  4. Thank you for the poetry!
Pweeeease send me some of those blossoms! Gah, I want spring so badly.

  5. Molly says:

I saw that recipe and thought it looked incredible and I am with you on the “less chocolate is sometimes better” train.
Your photos are so beautiful! My blossoming tree isn’t quite there yet and I’ve been sick all weekend so the photos and the memories were a nice place to go and feel better.

  6. Sonia says:

    Yay Spring
    xo

  7. Sylvila says:

  9. sadira says:

My EX found that recipe on an actual box of Saltines and we used to make it quite a bit because it is insanely good and so very easy (well…I never made it right, so he HAD to do it…so it was VERY easy for me!) Happy Happy Spring days…

  10. Linda says:

Wow, what a great way to start a brand new week. The snow finially melted and that is why I am celebrating…we got 2 inches on the first day of Spring. Let the blooms begin for a New Beginning to an amazing Season.

  11. eleni says:

  12. Charis says:

    Beautiful photographs, beautiful words x

  13. as always, enchanting post!

    🙂

  14. Lynn says:

If I close my eyes I can almost smell the grass. It actually makes me a little teary remembering my childhood and listening to my dad mow the lawn with the lovely scent of fresh cut grass wafting in the windows (we had a push mower…no engine, it had a unique sound).
The photos are lovely too, I especially like the one of the rose bush.

  15. Meghann says:

Your blog is like a vacation every time I read it, thank you for such a relaxing, wholesome, happy, ethereal experience. You always make my days brighter 🙂

  16. Maggi says:

Such a beautiful post bursting with life!

    And chocolate! *drool*

  17. gemma says:

    You are a poet!
    “Sea of stars …..
    words like peace”
Must try the sweet and salty treats.

  18. gillian says:

Sugar & salt go together like “a sea of stars”. I’m wowed, and like you, a hint of chocolate suffices as I like the natural taste of chocolate without a lot of added sugar. Give me caramel, or brown sugar though, indeed. Okay I just contradicted myself. Oh well.
Envious of your time outside at the moment, since we got back from Jordan we’ve been back IN unfortunately. Can’t wait for those first blooms!
Even the air is different, and that I’m really looking forward to.
    xoxoxo Gillian!

  19. I have yet to dive into my Country Living issue, but now I must! That recipe looks divine…and I love how Mr. Lovee put a note on it so that you might try and make it for him, tee hee 😉 What a lovely 3 days you must’ve h ad in the garden…the weather here has been so springy and we have also spent much of it outside, yipppeeeee for spring to FINALLY be here after such a crazy winter!
    Jamie 🙂
p.s. you are quite the poet if I must say so myself, my dearest V.

  20. Cori. G says:

    Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!
Poetry is who you are in the most fanciful kind of way, beloved friendling of mine ;-).

  21. But you are a poet Miss V! Just see the lyrical lilting of those words on the page. If I were a poet I would take your words and help them fly off the page (or the screen) in a flutter of butterfly wings and blossoms on breezes. There is nothing more delightful than to see the wanderings of your creative mind.
    Enjoy the day, sweet V!
    Erin

  22. i’ve got a poem for you made up by my eldest(8) who was 6 at the time….
god is good, god is great
god is good, he’s my mate.
nothing like the poetry that i find on your blog each time i visit, but sweet none the less.
    you ARE a poet V
    xx

I like the same kind of sweet and salty snack with Pringles or Ruffles. Mmmmm, good! Another one is a Ritz peanut butter sandwich dipped in white chocolate. We have a customer that brings them in every Christmas. So yummy!

  33. Elaine L. says:

My friend used to make these, but she put Hershy Chocolate bars on top and let them melt in the oven, which evenly coated the crackers.

Isn’t AZ so beautiful right now. We went out in the desert over the weekend and the spring flowers are so awesome…

  38. Robin says:

Wonderful post. Spring is so achingly beautiful.
