Hope, Love & Peace…

Today is the International Day of Peace.  A day to reflect, a day to talk to ourselves about how we can make a difference…

My garden to you 1

It is a day to light a candle in memory of all those who have worked tirelessly in the name of peace.  There are so many movies I have seen from Hotel Rwanda to endless others, that leave me feeling powerless.  The truth is, we are not powerless, as they say, change starts within ourselves.  One person at a time…

Birthday 5

It is very easy to lose our peace within.  Especially when as human beings, we tend to react from a place of negativity more easily than from a place of happiness and kindness.

When people say something to us, I find more often that not, we interpret what they said through a negative filter rather than through a positive one.  Jealousy and hatred are easy to let go of, if we take a moment to love ourselves and to be happy for others…

These things are simply a few of the vital elements for reaching some form of peace.  I do believe that peace starts within, and then seeps out to touch others…

If only we could all come together…

Peace could spread like wild fire…

For today, all of us at A Fanciful Twist send peace your way, as we join in Rhonda Roo's Peace Party…

Elfin new year 13

One person, one Elfin, one creature at a time, we can spread peace, if we truly want to…

Pumpkin 28

Lots to reflect on and think about for today.  I know peace is difficult in this world in which we live.  We have so many frustrations to deal with.  It is complicated.  But maybe somewhere in there, there is a light that never goes out…  (oops, that is the name of a favorite song ;) - Which I actually always listen to and adore in Spanish sung by Miguel Erentxun)

Now, I must be off because I have to go to Home Depot for the 16th time in 72 hours ;)  Plus run other errands.

Wicked 19

I tell ya, I have found my own peaceful place to lose myself in, amongst the endless painting.

Building 3

I have been on a ladder for 3 days straight, painting.  I have lost myself in thought, and found quite a sense of peace, 6 gallons of paint later…

Building 2

Mister Lovee and I have been pushing forward for 2 weeks.  We are trying to finish a little office for me that started as a whim project years ago.  It was first going to be a little guest space, with a teeny kitchen etc.  But now will be a beloved office…

We are both sore and tired, but we won't give up.  Little red swollen hands forge ahead…

Building 1

Thank goodness for a crafty Mister Lovee, who can build work spaces to suit…

Building 4

I must run into town now, and I will make sure to add Halloween partiers to the list (that signed up over the weekend) as soon as I return this afternoon.  Typepad is being very glitchy, thank goodness it is International Peace day.  I am taking deep breaths as my computer system gets shut down a dozen times trying to put pictures in this post 😉 😉

Peace.  Breathe it, feel it.

I hope you have a beautiful wonderful day!!

Peace 1 a

🖤 ,V

ps:  Sorry about the unclickable glitchy photos…

Happy Peace Day to you as well!! It’s a rainy day here in Tulsa 🙁
Love love love the little elves and creatures…so colorful and cute 🙂
p.s. When I saw your Morrissey clip I laughed out loud because (and I’m serious) I stumbled on that clip just last week and I’ve been on a Morrissey/The Smiths kick every since…lol
Peace and Love to you Miss V!!
p.s.s. Good luck with the painting 🙂

  6. Maggi says:

    Happy Peace Day!

  7. sadira says:

Well…You are making a difference by finishing a project. Fantastic…and I LOVE painting just for the very reason you mentioned..lost in thoughts. It’s such a zen activity…isn’t it? I can’t wait to see the finished product (and I swear, I must have just “glanced” at your PS because I thought you were apologizing for un-lickable photos…and I was thinking it would have been lovely indeed with the photo of the cupcakes, but not so much with the photo of the paint. Or the screwdriver…but certainly with the little fairies, gnomes and elves. IF they would like to be licked…you DO have to ask them…to do otherwise would be just plain rude.)

  8. Kristal says:

Happy Peace Day back to you too! And you are so correct, that it all begins within. Thank you for the reminder.
Can’t wait to see the office once you wave your magic wand around, I’m sure it will be a truly magical.

  9. Shell says:

A great reminder to find peace within the day and to try and project it too. Ooooh, a bit of renovation i see! I love the feeling that you have when done – a great sense of accomplishment!

  10. You have no idea how much I needed to read this kind of entry today. It’s been a day of personal fear, frustration and anger…which are never a good combination. Your soothing thoughts brought me much peace and are helping me to “let go”. Thanks 🙂

  11. Sarah says:

Oh Happy Peace day! I agree that it starts within and we have to choose to acknowledge that. I love the idea of you going off on your bike to the store-but hope you changed to the car really! Hope the office is finished soon so you and Mr L can have a good rest.x

  12. Teri says:

  14. kate says:

Your elfin folk always make me smile, and today I’m grumpy so the reminder to be peaceful and positive was well-timed. As always, thankyou. :o)

  15. Peace to you and Mr. Lovey Vanessa!

  16. Oh V, those hands look tired…but so good for you all getting the work done so you will have a lovely office, yay!! Happy Peace day to you too 😉 Those cupcakes looks de-lish, may I? 17. Snap says:

    Happy Peace Party!

  18. Joy Taylor says:

I know peace is difficult in this world in which we live. Please don’t KNOW this. I have made an effort to always come from love. My world has changed as well as those I encounter. You must know love is easy and it will be, trust!

  19. Shell says:

Happy Peace Day. I agree if each of did our part in our world to promote peace, wow our planet would be swimming in peace, love and happiness.
It will be so worth it when you finish your new office. I have fixing up my place since August. Painting and now putting down tiles in my bedroom and ripping up the rug. It has been hard work but it so worth it. My place just sparkles now to me.

  20. marjorie says:

Happy Peaceling day, indeed! 🙂 I think it should be everyday, no!? Yes yes, indeed!!!
Oh, and I quite like the non-clickable photos, tee hee!! 🙂 lovely, lovely beyond words….especially that pale, pale rose at the last! 🙂 Dreamy, Miss!

  21. Brenda Kula says:

Amen to all that! We might have to start by sending one of us women up to the Senate to whip that unruly bunch into shape and explain to them what decorum is. And not the kind we usually dwell in: decor! The way I look at, when my girls were growing up, I was the taskmaster who broke up the fights. So it might just take a woman to go in there, apron and all, and tell them how the cow ate the cabbage!
    Brenda

  22. SueAnn says:

Faith; Hope; Peace; and Love! These are words to live by. These are places to be in. This is a way to walk.
    Hugging you
    SueAnn

  23. Remember that you become what you practice most…so practicing peace in your own life, in your small corner of the world can do nothing but bring about small changes that in the end amount to a lot. Thank you for the reminders today Miss V.
Through your link on my blog you have a new convert I am told…she said that she can’t help but lose herself in your world, and she is right, you know. We all need to take time to get a little lost on this meandering path of life.
    Enjoy the day!

  25. Candace says:

  26. Thank You for another beautiful post. You have such a lovely way with thoughts and words. I love to paint. I find it very Zen, where most people find it a evil chore. I drive my husband crazy cause I’m always changing paint colors all over the house.

  30. Paris Parfait says:

Here I am, late to the party again. But it’s never too late to seek peace, right? Lovely and wise musings, dearest V. Can’t wait to see the results of your office/studio collaboration w/ Mr. Lovee – and all that paint! Miss you! xoxox

  31. How did the Peace March during the Vietnam War impact our country economically?
Who were important in the peace march? Why was it important that veterans spoke at the capital who actually came from the Vietnam War? How did it impact the country short term and long term? Where and when did the peace march take place?

  32. What are the basic concepts of freedom vs enslavement to you?
Also do you think the following to be a true statement:
“Depending on the society a ‘slave’ subject to a master may have more freedom and better treatment than one that lives in a ‘free’ society subject to a repressive economic system”

  33. Thank You for another beautiful post. You have such a lovely way with thoughts and words.

  34. Very peaceful and happy. Thanks for sharing these on any day.
