Hello there friends! You are such a delightful bunch, I can't ever say that enough. Never, ever. We are doing lovely over here at A Fanciful Twist headquarters and finally getting a chance to peek in. Two words to describe us after last week's chair fiasco – busy and behind, Bzzzzzz…
But, the good news is that many faces have been itching to peek in and say heloooo. I have been trying to share little creatures for 2 months, and it seems, all sorts of things keep coming up 😉
The Littlewood family is eager to say a proper heloo as are many other littles…
Margot Clementina Littlewood –
And Olive Littlewood, have been tugging at my pantaloons, just itching to peek in and say helooo 😉
So many hellllooooos from our neck of the woods, but first…
As you can probably imagine, our resident patient is feeling better every day. It still aches like the dickens to laugh and – sneezing, OY, fahgetaboutit ;) But he is doing well. He escaped on me earlier in the week and went to the office for a little bit, a tad too soon in my opinion. So, he was needing some major nurse love. Alas, we are well, and happy the major pain part of last week is over. Still we sang and played instruments a whole lot. Well, I did at least 😉
Thank you ever much, for being such lovely loyal friends to me. How can I ever thank you?
I'll think of a way :)
In the mean time, there are lots of sweeties, just eager to make your acquaintance, so I have been working feverishly to get them all photographed, edited and here. Phew, what a job 😉
You see, some little desserts were speaking to me, quite literally, so to life they came…
Let me say, this might be an extra long post after I share a bevy of these wee faces. I have to say, I always feel like I have so many things to say and share. There is sooo much that happens in my little world that I don't ever get the time to share… Alas, one blog post is never enough to say it all… So I choose what to share here and there. And sometimes, wish, I could get it all down, but it just doesn't seem possible… And sometimes, really juicy stories escape ever being told 😉
Anyhow, the fun thing for today is that we have little faces. Dessert Cuties, Elves, and a few Art Dolls. The first cuties I am sharing and the newest members to my offerings are cake loves. Pastries of sorts 😉 Cake heads really…
They are all wrapped in a dessert wrapper, but unwrapped look like this…
Let's start with little Butter Cream Short Cake –
Chocolate Berry Pie –
Custard Pie with Meringue -
French Berry Macaron –
And last but not least in the little Dessert Category…
Peppermint Cream Cake -
How about some little elves to stir up some mischief and all around fun?
Adelaide French Waffle –
Amelia Orange Peel -
Brownie McMillan –
Charlotte Custard Cake -
Cora Cantaloupe a la mode -
Cream Cake Cottage –
Elfin Chimney Cottage -
Lemon Chiffon Sugar Plum Cottage –
Lemon MacArthur Parfait –
Louise Cherry Cream –
Lysander Apple Jelly -
Marie de Antoinette Heart –
Mushroom Cottage –
Napier Buttercake -
Nicolay Marmalade Roll –
Raspberry Cream, Sugar Plum Cottage -
Riley Cake Pans McFee –
Vincent Honeydew –
Annnnnd, Tiny Mister, Wolfgang Teapots –
A bevy of little faces… They have been a lovely part of my days here at the studio. I just fall in love over and over with little faces. I want to sit and chat with them forever, alas, they want to go on adventures…
Speaking of adventures, I spent a good chunk of Saturday morning playing outside with the Littlewood girls. They are such dolls 😉
Such fun to be out on a nice spring day with them.
Cordelia Emmeline Littlewood is such a character…
She made this little book, with different species of roots, and she continually collects tid-bits on flora and fauna.
She keeps time on her clock that sits right on her crown. And, she makes sure to wear beautiful sashes that tie in a lovely ribbon, everyday…
Margot Clementina Littlewood is also enamored with nature. She collects speckled eggs that need to be warmed and hatched, protecting the little cracked ones especially.
Bees and butterflies find solace in the folds of her billowing gown. And she always carries with her a little jar filled with bits of moss she would like to inspect and grow in her greenhouse…
As this Littlewood scurries through the forest, we get a peek at her pink velvet ribbon and vintage lace…
I really enjoy every moment with these dolls. I hope you enjoy them too. I wish you could visit with them in person…
Our last little visitor for the day is Olive Littlewood. She is an extraordinary wee girl, with a gusto for imagination and stories anyone would like to have a slice of…
She wears bright red fairy wings, and carries a spool that she attaches all sorts of treasures to. She calls it her dream spool…
There is still a little bit of snow on the ground in their neck of the woods. But it is melting quickly, and spring is vibrantly alive, right underneath that last dusting of snow…
It is warm and lovely in Littlewood land…
Oops, I almost forgot there is a wee 5 tree cypress grove and a few snippets of Candyland Theaters…
So you see, besides taking care of the Mister, I have been creating and attempting to get it all together and into my wee shop… Where you can find all those smiling faces as of today… And now 😉
I have a gazillion things to fill you in on and share… Like I said, I never feel like I even scrape the tip of what goes on here. But I fear, if my posts get any longer, you will run screaming, never to return again…
😉
We send oodles of love from the country shackling as do all the creatures, created and of nature. I have been busy helping nature, as Mama quail and rabbits have placed their eggs and babies in very unsafe places. Some have not been so lucky. So I have been building housing for them, over and over… Can you imagine? I will share photos soon.
Tons of 🖤 's ~ Love, V and the not so English patient…
Ps: Have you seen 5 children and it? So cute & silly. Also, I adore Simon Schama, and saw all his Power or Art Episodes, loved them. I saw oodles of other flicks, but, you will never believe this. I had no interest in Twilight at all, ever. Still, I saw it last week, and well, I have to admit, I truly channeled my 17 year old girl self who needed to come out to enjoy it, and she loved it, and even fell for a couple of vampires ;) Then again, I am from the original Lost Boys and Goonies era, so it was easy to snuggle back into my teenage self for a day.
I loved Edward because even though he was 17, he was really from the early 1900's, which added an older quality to him. But I extra loved Carlisle. He looked a lot like Tom Cruise in a way? Mister Lovee says I like them because they don't feed on humans ;) (thanks for that insight Mister Lovee). All I know is, when my 17 year old self came out to play, she reminded me that I yearned for today, my whole teenage years. To be the age I am now, here in this moment in time. So, that was a great reminder… Anyhow, there is a puppy in the yard, not ours, so I better go check things out ;) Awwwwwe, I want a puppy!

I was thinking about you and Mr. Lovee. Hoping all is well. So I’m glad to hear it is. I’m happy you shared all your friends with us. They are lovely. Charlotte Custard Cake and Amelia Orange Peel stole my heart. I love all the names and the stories you have for them.
Now I’m quite curious about all the stories you haven’t shared. They must be amazing. I send you much love and hugs, Lady V.
oh I love love love love love love them all and their oh so sweet faces!! 🙂
Your creations are so beautiful! Hope that puppy in the yard belongs to somebody!
Hello dear! I love all the little dolls and your little creations, they really do come to life!! You remind me of Cordelia Emmeline Littlewood!!! And, I have to say the same thing about Twilight… I didn’t want to watch it, but then my daughter wanted to and she said all her friends saw it so I hesitated but then I did it and WoWZa….I actually LOVED it..ALOT! And, I’m so happy Mr. Lovee is feeling a tad bit better! What would we all do without Mr. Lovee!!!!! Anywhoooo, I’m off to admire your shop! Take care dawling!
My Dear Vanessa:
Once again, I have wandered ever so slowly through your garden of dreams and magic. I think I shall sit for a while and talk with the elves, dessert cuties and girls. They seem so serene. I want to know their secret. Do you suppose they will share it with me?
wow
I mean – WOW
these are uber-fab!
All of the desserts are wonderful – but the Peppermint Creme Cake has my heart! How cute is that hat?!
Of course, you know that I love little theatres and shadow boxes, and I’m enchanted with this piece … I’m curious- are those charming embellishments made by you by pressing some kind of dough? – or are they painted pre-made chipboard? They’re really so nice!
I just loved Loved LOVED this post with all the photos!
Ok Vanessa, I was so lucky as to snag up the lovely Brownie McMillan! Although I was lovin’g the lemon head chicka (a bit late checking out the shop update 😉 but can’t wait to meet her, yay! And girl, Goonies and Lost Boys are still two of my fav movies, tee hee. But I do love Twilight too, I was first in line to see it at the theatres and bought it on DVD last Sat…do love me some Vampires. Glad Mr. Lovee is feeling a bit better.
Chat soon,
Jamie 🙂
Oh Vanessa!!! I LOVE everything. SO amazing girl!!!!! It’s my b-day tomorrow and if I had my way (and money)I would buy miss Emmaline. That is what my Grandma always called me 🙂
Oh my goodness, you’ve been busy! I love to see all of your sweet darling dolls and elfins and such, they are just too adorable! And don’t even get me started on Twilight, once I start I don’t stop, I fear my head may just pop off! (hehe, that rhymed)
XOXO
~Krista
These are way beyond adorable! Words do not express how cute they are! I am so glad that I found your blog, I am really enjoying it!
..well now what does Baby from the yard sale think of the puppy?
Not so English patient, funny funny V!
I am always torn about seeing movies if i have read the books. I’m just egotistical enough to think, sometimes, my own imagination is way better than the directors or producers..Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier, stood the test, and movies from that era, but truly, i prefer my inside eye. 🙂
But we all read the Twilight series here, too (havent seen the movie)…like we did Lemony Snickett (we did see the movie) and Harry Potter (we didnt see the movies). (Well, Cowboy didnt see the movies OR read the books! He doesnt go for fiction much; i tried to tell him it was nonfiction but he didnt buy it!)
LOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEE the dolls and cupcakes and elflings and theatres! Magic! hoorah!
xoooo Roo
Vanessa,
I am sooooo glad you finally wrote a post. I was starting to wonder if Mr. Lovee was hurt worse than you told us. But it sounds like he is on the mend and you have been very busy creating your lovely elfins and cake doll heads. (Tooooo cute). Glad all is well with the both of you. I check out your shop.
Kris
glad to hear your lovee is doing OK.
the new faces you’ve shared are just adorable.. and the names… oh those names are so cute and fanciful as always. one day a little elf is going to come live with me, i know it 😉
so happy to know all is well with you & mr. lovee have been thinking about both of you for the last few days & chanting for everyone’s well being. Your Littlewood girls are amazing those faces. I am going to email you some recent puppy photos of Dylan – he is now about 14 weeks old. he has a way of making everyone laugh!
Glad to hear the mister is doing well. Love your new goodies, but of course popped in to late to grab my faves 🙁 Next time…
As always, Miss V, you rock.
Your magic is neverending. I am spellbound,
And ever so glad Mr. Lovee is on the mend.
xo Debbie
All are adorable (must be super fast next time to acquire my favorites)
Pleased to hear that the patient is improving.
Will you share the other tidbits, pretty please?
Vanessa! I just saw Twilight this week as well. I thought since I liked the Cedric Diggory character in HP I would give it a go. I must confess that I liked it too, more than MY 17 year old daughter liked it. Love your cupcake cuties. They remind me of something the Mad Hatter might serve to Alice. Happy Monday!
oh, Olive Littlewood is definitely my favorite…but they are all so pretty!
Oh my goodness!!!!
Look at those cupcake dolls!!!
They are adorable Vanessa;-)
Such a talented artist!
Have a blessed week~
KayEllen
oh my gosh vanessa! i am in sugar heaven just looking at your cupcake dollies! you the best!!!
I loved Twilight…I also loved The Lost Boys when I was a girl. It’s amazing how certain movies can put you back in touch with your younger self.
Beautiful work, as usual, Miss Vanessa! The cupcakes are sooo cute.
Glad to hear that your patient is (mostly) behaving and is recovering so well.
Best to you both!
Melanie
I’m happy to hear Mr. Lovee is doing better. I do adore the wonderful faces. I hope ya having a wonderful day. Big Hugs~
Darling girl, your creations were worth the wait. They are beautiful, whimsical, sweet, enchanting and more! I just adore the cupcakes and the dolls, well all of it. You’ve been a busy girl and regardless of time and space….the stars always seem to align in the end and magic appears!!
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOX
I adore all of your new doll friends. Having a peek at them makes me want to try my hand at doll making with materials other than my usual fabric.
So glad to hear that Mr. Lovee is doing better. Good enough to sneak off to the office…
Oh yes…Twilight! I must admit that I am a rabid fan, even as a grown woman. But ~ I am a fan of the books, not so much of the movie. Once I read the books, the characters were firmly planted in my mind. Oh so much different than the movie. The history of the characters is a major part of the books. I especially love Jasper. For some reason, Jasper was portrayed ever so oddly in the movie. Not at all like the Confederate soldier that he was! If you haven’t read the books, you simply must find the time. They are well worth the investment.

You make such enchanting things! I adore them, and have fallen quite in love with the “Cream Cake Cottage”.
I remember seeing “5 Children and It” a while ago. It made me smile 🙂
I am completely, 100% smitten with your new work. The Dessert Cuties are just the most fabulous thing I have seen in a long time! I would love to be able to get one!
I also adore the Littlewoods, they’re beautiful! Your attention to detail is fantastic.
I too, just watched Twilight and really liked it even though I didn’t think I would. I’m not so sure that Mr. Edward Cullen quite compares the those Lost Boys though, as cute as he is! :0)
Cerri
WOW!!! You have been working a lot!! All your creatures and dolls are so beautiful! I couldn’t choose just one!
Ohhhh how I wish those cottages were human sized.
Oh, your creations are always so scrumptious looking! And quite literally now, with the darling cake heads! I love those; it’s such a brilliant idea.
I want to go and live in your cream cake cottage.
Oh wow wow wow wow! Almost cries because they’re almost all sold. I FREAKED OUT when I scrolled down and saw the desserts were people! 😮 😮 😮 You’re the best!
Oh, such fabulous faces! They are charming, enchanted creatures, all. And I think Miss Olive Littlewood wants to live in Paris.
So glad ML is doing much better, but tell him not to overdo it! It takes time for those ribs to heal properly. How lucky he is to have you as nursemaid! xoxox
You made your paper dress girls REAL! I just love them! Those adorable little “kiss-kiss” lips. So very charming, as are you! I never tire of venturing down the rabbit hole of your blog. Keep the stories coming. It’s the last day of March tra-la. April is on its way!! — Kathy in Chicago
Vanessa, I’m a day late…the story of my life lately…LOL I’m glad your shop update was a huge success! Hoping you have another one sometime this Summer! Your update was well worth the wait my friend. I love them all! I’m also glad that you and Mr. Lovee are doing well…send my well wishes to him and I hope he recovers soon! Now…what happen to that chair…hmmmmm
Have a wonderful and magical day!
Cheers!
Great googly moogly you’ve been busy! When ever do you find the time to sleep you kindly sprite??
Oh V~
I am in luvvvv with the Littlewood family! Margot Clementina is my absolute favorite. They are all soo pretty though. And Little Vincent Honeydew is every so adorable. You are such a talent 🙂
p.s. I am definately going to check out Five Children and It..which looks cute. As for twilight I had read all 4 books (which I loved) before seeing the movie. I thought the movie was a bit disappointing. AND I watched Andy Warhol’s Factory people which you mentioned on your last post and I found it very facinating! Oh and I definately recommend Slumdog Millionaire. It was honestly the best movie I’ve ever seen.
Sorry such a long comment. Have a lovely week Miss V…glad your back!!!!!!!!
Kylee
You truly have the most amazing imagination Miss V…what a fantastic shop update! I loved every single thing, but especially Miss Olive. And the wee Dessert Cuties are soooo whimsical! I’m just now popping in and see that alas, your cupboards are nearly bare! But I have no doubt that all of your latest lovelies are off to wonderful new homes!
I’m SO happy to hear Mr. Lovee is up and about and in much less pain! But even the thought of sneezing makes MY ribs hurt! 😉
Keep the fanciful creatures coming…they just keep getting better and better! <3
i’m in complete awe… so many, so pretty, so… i don’t even know what to call them. the bare idea of cake heads is great, and the dolls and elfins and cottages are lovelier than ever. maybe giving a lot of nurse love is good for your creativity? my day got even better :). thanks!
What magical creations!! Love each and every one, and as soon as I get a few pennies ahead, I sooooooo need to visit your shop!!
Glad to hear Mr. Lovee is on the mend. 🙂
~ Carolee
PS – Sometimes, puppies find US! You may just have a new companion. 😉
I love all your little creations they have such character!
Each and every face speaks innocence and sweetness! Love your work, dear Vanessa! 🙂
Wow, you’ve been busy…the sweet little cake heads are soooo lovely and sweet, wow oh wow…I want I want I want, ha ha. Everything you make is wonderful.
I especially love the little desserts. Glad to hear things are going well with Mr. Lovee.
You have to read the Twilight books, SO GOOD, and much, much better than the movie. The only one they got close to being right is Bella and maybe her dad.
Have a great week,
Tracy M
wow! i love love love the custard pie with meringue! i didn’t see here in the shop – was she snatched up already!? oh well…
glad mr. l is feeling better.
thanks for sharing all of the new work. it’s amazing, as always!
Miss V, you’ve done it again! Given us a beautiful post and insight to your beautiful soul! We LOVE YOU!!!! And by the way, my daughter just loves “5 Children and It”. Isn’t it cute! Almost anything is cute with english accents! My daughter and I slip into those accents just for fun sometimes. Give a kiss on the cheek to Mr. Lovee for extra get better vibes!
Hi!
Those little cake girls are just mad and lovely! Such an entertaining imagination you have! The Littlewoods are delightful and look like the perfect guides to the enchanted world of nature.
Sarah x
Oh, Missy! I am in deep LUST for your funny cake head dolls! What a hoot they are.
So glad to hear the Mister is on the Mend, and that you’ve retained your sense of humor about it all…
xoxo,
Kate
Dangity Dang Dang. I missed the update! This is what happens when one takes a day to relax and not be near the computer. Phoey. Well, better luck for me next time, because it looks as though you’ve done such wonderful baking, that I think you’ll be doing it again!
I have been waiting for an update about the Lovee…and I am happy to hear that he has escaped the worst of it…and tell him that certainly he sees the need to rest. Oh, and not sneeze…
All those dessert cuties are sooo scrumptuous! I can feel my blood sugar shooting up just looking at them! As always you’ve done a great job. My, my, you’ve been busy, haven’t you?
Your Little faces AND your new dolls are heaven on earth! I will be back later to read all. Hi to Mr. L.
xox
Constance
Vanessa! These are all so scrumptiously lovely! Ah! Look at those precious, perfect little faces! The colors are dreamy as well. You are always on a roll, girl!
PS: after much ‘peer pressure’ I too read and watched Twlight, it does bring you back to those high school lovesick days. Haha, still glad I’m grown up with my own car and no curfew though 😉 (haha, as if I were out late all the time…still, nice to have the option!)
~Heather
OOH! These are beautiful….I love the hair on all your ladies.
The cupcake girls are my favorites. They’re so cute and edible-looking. Goodness, you stay busy! Are you always this way, or is there a great deal of caffeine flowing through your sweet veins?
Did you keep the puppy????? Find his people?
Oh that sweet little French Berry Macaron is singing to my heart!!! SiNgInG, sInGinG, SingINg I say!!! She is so darling and her little eyes so longing! The most beautiful little creatures always pop out of your head to dance around in my heart :).
I’m so glad you and Mister Lovee are enjoying his convalescing, but don’t make him laugh too hard for he may just crack up again:0!
I was examining that old chair of yours and I think once your Mister is feeling better he may need a good scolding…haa!! haa!! haa!! Noone steps in the middle of the caning so he must have been balancing on the edge…was he in the circus? A tight wire act perhaps? Riding his unicycle from one end of the tent to the next? I dare say he must have been to attempt such a feat on so precarious a seat.
I’m so glad your back in the bloggysphere. It somehow feels catywompus without you!!!!
xoxoxoxoo Cori
Sweet Miss V…so glad you are back! And that Mister Lovee is on the mend. Healing thoughts from the Northwoods!
I love, love, love your little friends. Those cupcake cuties are too sweet (pun intended) and those little elf faces and names are just too much. But I absolutely fell in love with Olive Littlewood. (Olive is my MIL’s name and Olivia is my daughter!) But mostly her red fairy wings, her dream spool and the KEY! The KEY! You know I cannot resist the skeleton key and the enchanted doors that it unlocks.
So very happy to have you back my dear.
*kisses*
Enjoy the day!
Erin
Miss Vanessa!
OMG!!! Love these cake head dolls…how are these! Absolutely amazing work!
~ Gabriela ~
I only noticed that the sweet formed faces all resemble you, of course. I love them. And the little precious flat faces are to die for, too. Thank you for making them!
Where can I begin?
How about with Brownie McMillan? Your names make me laugh out LOUD! Gleefully!!! The joy jumps off the page here at Littlewood manor!!!
I’m so happy I popped in here. Did I miss everything? Is it all sold?
How about an insider tip next time…ahem.
Off to see your shop! {What’s left after the stampede.}
Twilight holds no interest for me either, but I’ll give it a go. I like vampires, in a 17 year old girl way also.
xoxo
I’ve fallen in love with your new creations, especially Olive. She’s very pretty…and I can’t resist the cupCAKE creatures. Luckily I’m eating cinnamon swirl cake & having a cup of tea or I’d be likely to *swoon*. Your artistry is wonderful!
Regarding “Twilight” – Stephenie Meyer wrote some of a book from Edwards viewpoint. Unfortunately someone leaked the pages on the internet before she finished it. (Cry/Boo!) She’s refused to finish the book (“Midnight Sun”) but she has legalized and allowed the partial copy on her website (Hurrah!) – so her fans can read:
http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/pdf/midnightsun_partial_draft4.pdf
I loved Edith Nesbit’s *Five Children and It* when I first read the book about 25 years ago. I didn’t realize there was a film – now it’s a must see!! Delightful old story – I hope the movie treats it well. And I love all your creations, which are always just so imaginative and fun. Glad Mr. Lovee is able to laugh, even if it still hurts a little. Sometimes, pain is a reminder of what not to do. 🙂 Happy
Wow what a wonderful family…my favourite is custard pie and meringue…she’s beautiful.Have you got a favourite Vanessa?
And,it must be hard to part with them.I love them.
sue xxx
Hi Lovely Vanessa 🙂
I have been traveling so I am trying to catch up on my Blog visits today. I am sorry Mr. Lovee took a tumble but glad he is on the mend. I am squealing with delight over all your new lovelies! I am off to your Shoppe to browse 🙂
LuLu~*xoxo
hmmmmmmmmmmmm, I think my favorite has to be Margaret LIttlewood and little Charlotte Custard Cake! Each design is so enchanting Vanessa. Tell Mr. Lovee that I am so glad that he is out of pain.
Karen
The magical faces and the stories they will tell are such a delight for all my senses. I yearn to hear such stories as I travel through Five Rooms. Searching for those who will listen to the tales I have to share and for color and light. I am always yearning for color and light! It never occurred to me to make little ones to listen to my stories. And they in turn would share with me. How delightful!
Must go and work that out now.
Hugs (gentle ones to Mr. Lovee)
SueAnn
Vanessa, I am in love with your little dessert sweeties, as well as, the other wonderful creations.
Hugs karen
