Gypsies, Elves, Lovely Little Faces & Cake Heads

Heloooo.  Oh goodness, I meant to be here so much earlier.  Alas, it has taken me 9+ hours to get everyone ready to be photographed, then photograph, edit and pop them into ye ole shoppe, etc. etc…

As you can imagine, I am very happy to be typing now, and sharing tiny treats with you.  This lil' tea cup below is my version of a limoges tea cup that once stole my heart away…

Francesca Rosette Bumble Bee Garden and the giant tea cup 5

Before I start chatting your eyeballs off, I am just going to jump in and introduce you to the new little characters offered for sale in my shop.  (As always, all paper dresses are made out of vintage dictioanry pages)

I have been having the most exquisite visits with a Little Gypsy named Fionnula Fleur

Fionnula Fleur Little Gypsy 1

She is full of stories, especially stories regarding the little treasures she sells.

Fionnula Fleur Little Gypsy back 3

In her basket of goodies for sale you might find tiny jars with gems or tiny vintage photos, herbs, mushrooms, bits of lace and even baubles to decorate the finest gowns…

Sometimes Fionnula Fleur likes to meet a friend under the great big tree in the center of the Fairytale Forest for afternoon tea…

Her favorite tea time friend is named Francesca Rosette Bumble Bee Garden, who always carries with her, a giant tea-cup, and of course, a magical pot of honey…

She is a delight.  She is a grand collector of bumble bee treasures, and even keeps a secret flower garden full of kind honey bees…

Every once in a while, Fionnula and Francesca are visited by two very sweet girls who love to frolic in the fairytale forest.

Ophelia Periwinkle was born princess of Mystical Moss Palace.

Sometimes she takes off her crown…

And puts on her favorite little felt wizard's hat…

Oh and, she never leaves home without her beloved tiny cuckoo clock that hangs from her neck on a golden thread, and her nest full of fibers and trinkets for making pretty things.  Notice her tiny crochet hook 😉

The fourth wee gal from the Fairytale Forest, that joins the gals above for frolic and fun is known as Marie Antoinette and the perfectly Enormous Cupcake…

She is so sweet and kind, making sure to always carry a cupcake big enough to share…

The girls love to keep their eyes wide open, because you never know when you might spot a Cake-Head Love or tiny precious elfin, such as…

Oh and, I have a new little face to introduce you to.  Some of you may or may not know that I have an ongoing series of paintings called "Super Bake Girls."  But, for the first time ever, I have brought a Super Bake Girl to life via clay.  There are more to come, but for today, this is -

Soooo, those are the little characters that I am placing in my shop as soon as I publish this blog post.

Oh, I almost forgot –

I am popping a Secret Tea and Sweets box in my shop as well.  I was asked to make this box by Stampington early last year.  You can see it in the current issue of Somerset Gallery.  In the issue you don't get to see a photo of the top, but it actually features an image of one of my paintings titled Enchanted Tea Time –

The box is back in my possession and ready to find a home…

If you waited at all today for my update, I am ever so sorry it took me all day to accomplish said task.  It is always a bigger job than I anticipate…

The behind the scenes here is absolutely nutty, I tell ya, but quite amusing in the maddest sense 😉

See you soooooon!

🖤 ,V

ps:  I will share the original illustrations I eluded to in the last post, later this week…

pss:  A very humble and grateful thank you if you popped into my shop update this evening.  I will have more characters very soon  🖤

psss:  If you got to see my hilarious typo that was supposed to say "popping into the shop" but instead said, well you can imagine what it said ;) Trust me, I am still laughing about it myself ;)  Sorry about that, tee hee, it was totally unintentional 😉 goodness, meeeee…..

  1. This is crazy Vanessa!
I have been on my computer since ten o’clock this morning checking for your things every ten minutes and I sit down to dinner and whoosh! almost everything is all ready gone out of your Etsy shop. You probably don’t even have the lovely box left that you are showing. Darn!
    Cheers anyway!
Are you going to be doing any more paintings of your lovely ladies?
    Hugs and fairy kisses!
    Teresa

  2. carolee says:

OMG, same here, lol!! I’ve checked in several times today, and for ONCE a sale of mine (which = cash in my paypal account) actually coincided with your shop upate…..Only I’m too late (insert disappointed sounding trombone music here)…And being a teapot collector and lover of all things tea, I soooooo covet your little teapot headed elves….Ah well, there’s always next time, eh?
No surprise all your goodies sold so fast – they’re just magical!! 🙂
    🖤 Carolee

  3. Oh Vanessa, is everything gone already??? If not, I want that first gypsy doll in your post, for sure… please let me know, I sent you an email! xoxo Julie

  4. Yay, I am so glad to have snagged Remi Lovelots…she is just a doll 😉 Next time though…I gotta get a cake-head to add to my collection, tee hee! Love the girls too…all so sweet, just like you V!
    Jamie 🙂
p.s. I can imagine the craziness that goes on behind the scenes, wheeee….

  5. Candace says:

Why oh why can’t I have all of them. LOL. I was going to come back and love on those fur babies, again. The picture of them together is so so sweet. And that Matty! He’s growing up so fast. I was happy to read Baby is feeling better —
And now, I find all sorts of doll-goodliness.
I think you must be Super Bake Girl’s role model as you are so busy and creative. Good for you!
Love this post and these wonderful, funtastic creations!
Take care, Dear V. Always a joy and blessing to visit here.
    Candace, Still In Athens.

  6. dena miller says:

    Oh My gosh vanessa,
As always such beautiful and creative work!!!

  7. Mirabilys says:

It’s always a joy to look at your hand made treasures… I’m pretty sure you have one of the secret keys opening the Wonderland hidden gate, Vanessa!
It’s seems that your treasures are all already sold! I should get up earlier! lol
Have a nice day and please make a lil cuddle to your beautiful Baby for me.

  8. Alia says:

Holey moley those wonderful things went fast! I would love to have one for my own, but maybe it is a blessing in disguise that they are gone since I am oh so poor and should not be spending my few extra dollars on lovely Vanessa-y things. It is hard enough to resist the things that are already there, so it is probably a good thing I came too late. I do love them though!

  9. Oh my but ‘Sunny Sweet Cake’ has made my heart melt.
Its so wonderful to finally see what you have been tinkering away with for the past month.
    I love your work xxx

  10. P.S. I have had one of your pictures framed, i posted it so you can have a look

  40. karen cox says:

Oh Vanessa, these are so enchanting. I really felt that Emilia is so lifelike that she might just walk right off your post. All of these are so lovely, I especially love your gypsy. This new box design is gorgeous.
Vanessa, your work is so magical. I would love to see a shop with stars and twinkle lights and shelves and shelves of your creations. In one corner of the shop would be jars and jars of your sweets and sweet recipe cards with your recipes for pies and cakes. Dancing girls would be hung on the walls, and racks would have your cards and postcards. sigh, now the best would be if the shop was nearby.
    Karen
