As Matty and I took a break in the gypsy wagon today, I thought, we should really go on a voyage. You know, a dream trip somewhere…
Matty wasn't convinced. He just sulked.
I said –
Awe, c'mon Matty, let's get out of town…
Pack up our stuff and go anywhere.
But Matty was like…
Why do we have to go anywhere?
I love home.
I smiled and said….
I have the best idea.
We will go on the voyage of all voyages.
A voyage where we get to sleep in our own beds.
Where we can have, and eat and buy anything we want because…
It's a voyage in our minds.
He perked up.
Albeit, just a little, as he was still skeptical.
That's just the kind of guy he is 🙂
Then I thought about how silly it was of me, to be dreaming about a pretend vacation.
So, I expunged the thought.
But just as quickly as I expunged it, I grabbed it, and dragged it back.
And I thought…
Really, if I could go anywhere (all expenses paid, plus spending money), where would I go?
I don't know.
?
I really don't know.
Where would you go?
Do you know?
Would it be to the forest or the sea? On a sail boat? In a tee-pee? To the east or to the west? Across the ocean? Oh my, oh me? I don't know…. For some odd & totally random reason, natural pools of hot springs keep popping into my head. So odd.
Oh where, oh where, oh where would you go?
🖤 ,V

I love those hot spring monkeys, they are so funny! I would go visiting-all the lovely friends I have made blogging-the world would shrink magically each time I set out so I could just get a bus and be there 20 minutes later. Other than that I would go to Venice, or to see the northern lights and stay in an ice hotel. Hope you and Matty had fun on your dream trip! x
It’s so cold here that I’m afraid I’m with Matty on the idea of napping and hunkering-down in a warm blanket. Although here’s some ideas for your fantasy-vacation: Spain, Amsterdam, or perhaps the Seychelles?
Santa Fe. Definitely Santa Fe. I want to shop…I want to see snow…I want to go to the church with the spiral staircase…oh yeah, my family is there (forgot about them).
…or the hot tub monkey place…either one.
You and that gypsy wagon. It must be a dream having that. This was fun. Light, bright, and pink. It’s grey and dreary here today. We’re promised snow. Ugh…I don’t think I am looking forward to that. You know what? I’m going to reread your blog. THAT’S what I’m going to do! cheers – Kathy
Well Vanessa, in a moment of serendipity I have just the thing for you. I only found out about it myself in the last hour or so.. It’s a virtual tea party in a Scottish castle! Wrap up warm my friend for the land of the sporran and ceilidh is blanketed in deep white. Your host is a certain Mr Toast. “Crumbs!” I thought when I got the invite, “Is he trying to butter me up?”
Ah, I know what you’re thinking… directions… Hope to see you and young Matty there – I know he’d look great in tartan

I’m torn between my selfish self and my giving self!
SO,
either Haiti…or Figi: http://www.turtlefiji.com/
Wonder where Matty is thinking of???
I’d have to add a “close your eyes and click your heels to get there” option because I hate to fly, but England is where I’d love to go. However, since I can’t even deal with the 2 1/2 hour flight to Florida, it will be the voyage in my mind!
that’s easy! i’d go to the UK. Wales first, one of my great-grandfathers was born there and i’ve always wanted to see that country and learn the language, etc. then i would travel over to ireland and the back across to scotland and then down to england. then if there was anything left after that trip i’d go to france (more ancestors) and if anything left after that romania and prague just because…

oh and then there’s montana, alaska, maine, vermont… hee hee hee
I love the link to the hot springs! I grew up in Arkansas…very near Hot Springs and always loved to visit that town! Wonder where you are headed! 🖤
I don’t have a particular place in mind, but I would like it to be a place with beautiful scenery, a place I have never been before. I would want to stay at a bed and breakfast that is beautifully, lavishly decorated in gypsyful Bohemian style. When I would wake up I would have a lovely garden to look at and a scrumpdillyicious exotic breakfast served by a sweet and kind soul.
Linda I want to go where you go–yep lavishly decorated Bohemian style–then a nice all expense paid trip to Anthropologie-then back to the bed and breakfast with scones and flavored coffee
You tortured my noodle with this one Veevala! I thought I was done with wanderlust…but, there is one thing…
visit places, real or that inspired, my favorite books and movies:
Heathcliff’s Moors, Ms. Haversham’s House, James Herriot’s Yorkshire Dales, Rebecca’s Manderly, various and sundry Castles and Palaces (Versailles, Buckingham), Dracula’s Mansion, Nemo’s submarine, Caruso’s hut, the Owens house, Grey Gardens, the Von Trapp’s place…
…and go in search of Santa’s workshop, Superman’s ice castle, and the Wonderland rabbit hole (oh wait-maybe that’s your house?) 😉
And then write about it.
I’ll need a photographer. 🙂
XOXOVIIXOXOX
Iceland! But I can’t find anyone to go with me. I have dreams of hot springs also, but minus the monkeys and plus a tall Iclandic male. lol. I want to see the ice hotel but not so much to stay in it.
I would be on a tropical island somewhere (although I wouldn’t mind taking a warm dip with those cute monkey’s 😉
Jamie 🙂
Oh….finally, an easy question for me to answer! Hands down, I would go to Wales. I have been fascinated by the countryside and the language since I was a girl. I still dream of going on archaeological digs in Wales…digging for Arthurian treasures…finding the truth behind the REAL Merlin.
Thank you for the dream:
Kim
Gerushia’s New World
I’d fly to Sweden and see my dear Auntie. We would see the Santa Lucia program at the Market in Stockholm. It would be magical and beautiful. I’d rather go in the Summer but I want to see my Auntie so much. She was suppose to come to California but she’s getting too old to travel alone (or she feels that way). I told my mom I’d be happy to fly with her here. This is where the money isn’t an issue comes in. sigh!
Hands down it would be Bora Bora for me, it’s at the TOP of my Bucket List!
And for Kim whose dream vacation is my Mom’s Home Country… Wales IS beautiful, my Mom is Welsh and I was born in her Country of North Wales and got to go back in the 1970’s when my Family were stationed in England (Dad was an American GI). It was great to see my Nanna and GranGran… and all the relatives on Mom’s side of the Family… though alas, Mom never taught us her Native tongue so there was a language barrier. Hope you get to realize your dream too Kim!
Vanessa you always come up with the most delightful Posts and imaginings! Love the photos of Matty in the Gypsy Wagon…
Merry Christmas… Dawn… The Bohemian
Oh dear….where would we go?! An interesting thought indeed….purrhaps an old castle in Scotland….or a warm tropical island with only a few people….purrhaps, I’ll just start here with a warm bowl of milk and stretch out into dreamland and see where my heart of dreams goes…..
Purrs!
Romeo and “her”
i used to live in wyoming for a short time, and they have a hot pool park there with a hot pool to swim in, also hot pot baths to soak in. it is very beautiful and very theraputic, but Very stinky.

Dear Vanessa, I would come and visit You! Twyla
Dream vacation England, Scotland, Ireland-all that history, moors, people who drive on the wrong side of the street and speak with different vowels:)
Sedona Arizona! My dream place.
I oh so love it there.
I have so many places that I would like to go to…Denmark because my son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren are there. Iceland because it is the land of my heart and birth. Italy because I adore it. There so are many other places that I would love to go to…I could list a hundred or more.
Then you know that I love to travel.
Not to be greedy, but my dream vacation would be an Atlantic crossing (don’t much care for flying), then weeks and months on end traveling Europe by rail; Britain, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Spain, France, Italy …with an excursion by boat to Greece. I’d love to explore all the places I’ve read about in fairy tales, legends and myth, see fairies and gypsies and crones! I’d take oodles of photos, make oodles of sketches, then come home to paint it all…
I know, I don’t want much, right? 😉
🖤 Carolee
PS – Matty is just precious. There’s something so beautiful about his eyes, like he’s an old soul in a puppy body. 🙂
Dearest Matty…
Bring your mama and come to Once Upon a Fairyland. You will be happy there and it does not cost a cent!
We are jumping down the rabbit hole to Christmas Land this month.
We invite you both to come along…
I would love to follow your blog more…you are my type of girly, for sure.
My childhood home was Once Upon a Fairyland. You can take a peek at my story on my sidebar if you would like.
I’ve come here many times before taking a peek and my blog friends keep telling me to come see you so…
Jacqueline has arrived!
Oh Beloved Fanciful One, my JoY, I am so far behind in my visits with all my Friendlings. **sigh** These photos are delicious. There is not one thing that you do with your hands that is not art…the way you place a pillow just so, or the way you set the stars in the sky. DeLovely. Where would I go? First thought was my happy place, San Diego or Kauai. But truthfully, if I could go anywhere in the world this year it would be to Fort Hood, Texas in January for my Boo Boy’s deployment service. Next year is worry year again, so I will need an endless supply of swoonalicious posts from you, my Magical Muse. I shall return later and catch up with you. **blows minty Christmas kisses** Deb
Those hot springs or even a hot tub are calling my name.
Wherever I roam it would have to be warmer than where I am. Add in some sunshine for a bonus!
There must be music, preferably live music.
Alas, today I do not even have time to dream a voyage.
Dearest Vanessa, it’s SO fun to dream of faraway lands. It’s even more fun to take the adventure with your furry babies. My dreams are kind of simple. I have a favorite place in Maine that I dream of often. The Portland Head Light…are you familiar with it? Such a beautiful and serene place to visit. I can sit upon the rocks for hours and hours staring out at the sea. It’s quite magical, really. In my mind, however, I dream of life in a land much like Lothlorien – ethereal and dreamy and surrounded by trees and beauty. 🙂 And there will be many furry babies there. xoxo Theresa
Oh, the hot springs sounds like they’d be a positively decadent place to visit! However, if I could go any place, right now, it would be a toss up between Athens, Greece and a warm sunny island in Central America.
If it were ever so slightly warmer, I’d say the green hills of Ireland, but they’re quite snowy and not very green right now!
I would go to Disney World, which according to the kids I work with makes me really, really lame. (According to them I should want to go somewhere fancy like Europe. Europe would do as well, I suppose.)
These photographs are gorgeous! They have such a dreamy feel to them.
its getting hot here in australia…
Ooh, I saw monkeys like that in Nepal. Must get my photos sorted and posted. Travel – whether real or armchair or dreamland – is a treat. xoxox
I’d travel to Ireland, my paternal grandparents’ home country. My granddad, I never met – and my grandmother passed when I was a wee lass, but I remember loving the sound of her voice.
I love to imagine i’m somewhere tropical with white sands and clear blue ocean waters.
I love this post! I have wanted to go to Ireland since I was just a wee lass. I have yet to go though. One day my dream of hiking throughout the emerald isle will come true…… I just know it! Thank you for reminding us all of those dreams.
I would also love to see Norway, Austria, Tibet and New Zealand.
Xoxo

I’m going to Santa Fe too! yes I am!
