Flickering Light

It had been so long since I had lit a candle for the sheer pleasure of sitting silently beside it…

Pink light 1

Rest yourself, I told myself.

But really rest.

Don't think about things you want to do.

Tell your brain it has the night off, and relax.

I peeked out my bedroom windows…

Pink light 2

The pink light was creeping in…

Pink light 3

I lit my candles…

Do you ever forget to do nice things for yourself?

I used to light candles every night.

Now I can count on one hand, how often I lit a candle this year.

I love music and candles, at the same time.

Must do this more often.

It was really beautiful, the blue and pink light from outside, mixed with the flickering of the candles….

Peaceful and dramatic, all mixed into one.

For a second, I slipped into the 17th century…

Into a Vermeer

And was inspired

The paints beckon!

See you soooon!

Love, V

Hello there! How beautiful! I too love lighting candles. I think I could just live in candlelight at night. It’s so beautiful and romantic. About once a week have a me night in which I do a face mask, eye mask, paint my little nails, candles and my favorite music. I’ve been using pandora to find an artist I love and it will play other songs that are similiar. I could do that every night 🙂
    Take care!

Love this Miss V! Life is just like a painting with all its visuals throughout its 24 hours. It’s all the shadowing cast throughout the day that sets different moods as we live our daily lives. I do love early morning time and sundown. The color and the temperature of the day at those times seem to bring to me a sense of calmness and fulfillment. I too like the evening enhanced by a beautiful lit candle. Thank you, for the history of Vermeer.
Fascinating! Also, for all your photos you share! Love them! You certainly live your life to the fullest! Now waiting for some more summer rain as well, because I do enjoy its scent! It’s just like the song by the late Eddie Rabbit conveys, I Love the Rainy Nights!

  13. Katarina says:

Beautiful. I always get blown away by your pictures, and the light you have over there is just astounding!

  14. Miss Linda says:

Very nice….We all owe it to ourselves to do something nice for our own well being.

  15. What a great story! My pumpkin seeds keep sprouting in spite of the intense heat, and I had a few baby pumpkins try to survive… but alas, our 113-118 degree days have made it impossible to survive… but they keep sprouting and trying at least. I had been encouraged by your Posts that Pumpkins CAN grow well in Arizona and I’m Hopeful that come Fall my vines will finally thrive long enough to produce a Harvest that will come to fruition!
So happy yours have already gifted you with such lovely vines and pumpkins!

I’m happy you are getting back to your candles and music. It those every day beauties that nourish our souls.
I light candles nearly every day after sunset or on a gloomy day. I like to get candles for different colors of the week. A good way to continue your candle lighting, Get a whole stock of beautiful candles that will just beg to be lit.

  17. Theresa says:
