There is always so much to say and share. Never ending tales and hilarious happenings. And yet, there are moments so simple and wonderful, that they silence everything else. At least, to me…
I love our giant mesquite trees. They let me pretend I am in some space between paradise and a Swiss Family Robinson tale…
Do you ever have those moments, where if you close your eyes, and the breeze flows ever so tenderly (like gentle kisses), just as the sun shines through branches – you can actually transport yourself to any place on the planet? Fiji maybe?
Now I know…
Why the birds gather round when…
I spray water through the trees, as the sun…
Is glistening.
I have been to a tropical island this week. In my imagination of course. The best kind of trip to paradise (in my opinion), without having to leave my favorite place on earth. Home.
If you have a tiny hidden space in your garden, I highly recommend this. Hang huge tablecloths or window panels around your tree, throw a bath tub or a garden shower in between them, and when no one is around, lose yourself in bliss.
I can even lose myself while watching the wee canal I hand dug…
Which carries my garden shower water, to the pecan tree.
(I am waiting for fairies to find it)
I'd like to stay here all day.
I'd like to be a bird, and just sit in my nest and watch nature happen.
But today, I have to go to the pet hospital with Baby and Mister, to see a different doctor. Furry Miss was feeling better, but now, not so much.
However, when we get home, she will jump into her pool, and I will crawl into my tree…
And maybe, just maybe we might morph into something with feathers, like Jónsi.
(My sister loves his make-up ;)
Well, I better go get ready to go to the furry person doctor. I don't like going to see the doctor, not one little itty bit. (but, it's nice that they help you feel better, so that is good)
See you Sooooooooon!
🖤 ,V
ps: We are back from the new doctor. WE LOVE HER! I have more peace about Baby than I have had since New Year's Day (whatever the outcome, this new Doc gave me so much peace). We will know more health details in one week. Thank you so much for caring. I told the fur & feather Doctor that there are lots of silent prayers for our girl. And, the Doc thought Baby was super lovely and lovable.
pss: To answer some garden shower/bath questions, in case you want to make your own. My bath tub outside is a huge old ball and claw cast iron thing, set on large brick pavers. It has a line of hot and cold water going to it.
My shower sort of looks like this with a wooden base (which you can remove or leave on depending on where you are putting your shower), and the only other difference is that my hardware is brass.
I removed my shower head unit + stand from the base, and have it pushed up to my tub, held by the trees. It hooks up to a regular garden hose (I ran my hose under a little dirt). In Arizona, in summer, the water is warm straight out of the tap :)
I placed a 3 foot piece of super vintage rain gutter under the tub drainage, at a sloping downward angle, and then dug a trench, so that my bath water that flows out of the gutter piece, can flow through the trench/canal and irrigate my pecan trees across the way. Easy as pie.

I have had the shower for years and years, and it still works perfectly. The shower head is better than any shower head on earth (to me at least). Rain forest soft shower bliss…
I love the brass. Although, after googling some of these showers to link to a minute ago, and seeing the crazy prices, I feel bad. Mine is awesome and was only 20 bucks from some people, who sold it at a yard sale, and had never used it. Oh and actually, it was an old beau who found it at the yard sale for 20 bucks all those years ago, and when I saw his find, I had to have it, so he gave it to me. Lucky duck ;) I know, I know… Thanks Mister Ireland!
Oh and, did I mention, fur babies love tiny garden canals?
It was a good day in the end. Fur Baby doctors and all. Now, to the water sources we go…

oooh, how serendipitous- my friend is installing a backyard shower this week 😀
Serenely refreshing…
Oooodles of furry prayers go up for Baby…
^. .^
O
I’ve always thought an outdoor shower would be fabulous…depending on where it is.
I hope this new doctor can do something to help Baby!!
XOXOXO
Oh Dearie, I do hope your sweet fur Baby responds well to this new doctor, and that she feels cozy again soon. Your beautiful showery images have be swooning to buy a new, floral bar of soap…perhaps rose!! I think I need a treat! tee hee
🖤 well wishes to your Darling little Baby!!
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Baby and I hope you’ll come home with better news…
🖤🖤🖤🖤
Beautiful, refreshing photos. I was almost tempted to tip my head forward to see if I could feel a few drops from that lovely spray! I am also praying for sweet Baby, that this doctor will have some new insight into how to help that special girl. Please do let us know how that visit goes.
lots of love to you both vanessa. I will be thinking of you xxx
Good luck, Sweet Baby!
Hey—how did you do the shower head?
Just run a hose up there attached to the spigot thing? Or is it more involved? I’m guessing more involved.
I’m thinking I might have to do that. Also—with your tub, did you have to dig a channel for the drain?
sensacional! Imagenes frescas y encantadoras.
xoxo
What a fun vacation to have right at home! So glad you have a doctor for Baby that you feel peace about, that’s so important!
I had to shower with a hose over a tree when I was growing up because we didn’t have indoor plumbing..
Now, do you think the condo neighbors would go for it?
It was fun back then at least..
I sooo wish that I could have a shower in my backyard…
I’ve always dreamed of having a shower outside among trees and flowers, so much fun. <3
This is beautiful! I wish I had one at home! Your photos are so beautiful. I just love how you took those photos.
I’m keeping Baby in my prayers and sending positive energy her way.
My little furry boy Blue has had some health issues of late, so I know what you’re going through.
Blue sends best wishes to Baby 😉
love your garden shower!
…stop by and enter my giveaway…!
Gorgeous photos, all of them, but my favourite is Mr. Matty with his head on his sister’s. What secrets they must be keeping!
The Unsinkable Molly Brown and Good Queen Bess send their kindest.
As do I…
Candace, still in Athens.
Oh my goodness Vanessa, we visited a NEW furry puppy doctor today too, for some ‘hot spots’ that turned out not being hot spots at all, tee heee…and we loved her too! but apparently Mr. Roscoe has some skin allergies common in boxers (go figure) so now I have to give him some human over-the-counter meds, tee hee 😉 So now he’ll think he’s all super human (and I can never tell him he’s not when he acts that way, you know how it is 😉 Well, glad Baby has a good doc and hope she is doing well…always in our prayers of course!
And you and that shower, oh my…I was so upset, I was thinking I was going to get my parents old antique tub and come to find out, he soooold it, ugh! My Mum was so sad, she knew I wanted it when we found a house with a bigger yard, and now that we had, it’s gone 🙁 🙁 I could have had such fun planting a nice flower garden in it (neighbors were too close for me to shower, but oh that would have been nice 😉 Oh well, Sunday I’m going to Luckett’s to try and snag some cool stuff, so maybe a tub?!? Wish me luck girl 😉
Have a great weekend (I think I’ve had too many margarita’s and need to stop jabbering, tee hee 😉 Especially since this is a comment and not an e-mail (oh, how auto correct is my friend right now 😉 Oh my goodness, I’m out ;)….
Jamie 🙂
Dear sweet girl, how I’ve missed you and yours. Life pulled me away, but I’m fighting my way back to the peaceful forest. Time to visit again and feel the beauty and serenity that your wonderful world inspires… Thank you!!! <3
I’ve always wanted an outdoor shower but our neighborhood would never allow it…might be time to move out of the neighborhood…Best to your pup!
Hi Sweet Vanessa, Always silent prayers going out to you and your furry family.
I am so hppy that you found a furry doctor that you love.
Bella Corona and Penny Lane send all of you. Sweet kisses
Thanks for the update on Baby. I stopped by here on a whim to see if there was any news. So happy to read what you wrote. And, I had to laugh (although you hadn’t intended it to be funny) about your comment regarding the water for your outside shower/bath coming out of the tap warm, during Arizona’s summer. To quote Tom Petty, “Oh, my my, oh hell yes!” I’ll just BET that baby puts out warm water during an Arizona summer!!!!!!! hahahahaha. Don’t scald your pretty self! Have a splendid weekend! – Kathy
Stopped by again to check on Baby! I am so thankful you love her new doctor. That makes so much difference. The fact that she helped you feel at peace just makes me so happy. Will continue praying for you all.
Ooooh, how lovely and decadent! I love it!
I am so glad that you found a doctor for Baby that you are comfortable with. That is so important.
We continue to send prayers and positive thoughts your way.
xo,
Betty
i think you are amazing, vanessa, the neighbor of my sweet dreams.

I am glad your visit to the furry person doctor went well. Baby looks happy in her pictures. Your garden shower looks great. I am jealous! I could perhaps manage a foot bath, though I did once have abath outside in the bath that had been removed from the bathroom but not got rid of yet. It was lovely!
What a beautiful photo of Baby and Matty together…when one of our babies is hurting, the other one always goes to comfort. I am SO happy that you like your new doctor…it’s so important that you connect with them and that you feel you are getting the best possible care for your baby. 🙂 Your garden looks like heaven. Our yard is rather small, but I think that faeries might like to come and visit our little flower gardens strewn about the yard. I hope everyone is enjoying a most wonderful weekend! xoxo 🙂 Theresa
Happy the vet was encouraging.
Dreaming of a wonderful bath in the out of doors. I have wanted an outdoor tub for awhile and now you encourage me again to still dream. I even have the instructions for warming the water. Dreaming of Delight and Fairies dancing in the small streams.
What an incredible experience to have this outdoor shower & tub ~ I just love it! I’m so grateful for the new Dr and the peace that you have found. That means the world when our fur babies are sick. All of you remain in my prayers and extra good things for Baby ~ lots of virtual hugs, treats and healing energy.
xoxo

Thanks for the lovely photos too.
Glad Baby is ok.
oh that is just magical… i love it….might be a bit cold here in Tasmania right now …bring on the summer and i am going to the recycle store to create me one of those outdoor showers….

Oh I’m so gld that Baby is doing well. I panicked at first mention of the doctor. I hope You and your Fur babies have a lovely weekend. Splash it up in your Garden Shower. Such gorgeous photos!!
You never cease to amaze me…clever, clever girl. I have a whole separate lot attached to my land…we bought it to retain privacy.
I have a dream of a Gypsy Wagon, ball and claw foot tub and a shower over there…it is a lovely dream whether it comes true or not 🙂
You now that I live vicariously through you anyway xoxo
My beloved Fanciful Friendling, only you could make an old shower head and copper piping look like something from an enchanted dream…now if only I had a mesquite tree ;-).
I’m ever so glad your Baby is feeling better and that her new doctor is giving you hope. I often wish my own wee fur babies could speak and tell me what’s going on in their weence little heads.
Happy Sunday!
Much love, Cori
Have you thought about submitting a proposal to Country Living or similar publication..this would be a fantastic article as is:)
Oh Vanessa…
I am so sorry to hear that Baby isn’t feeling as good lately. I am glad that you found a doctor that brings you peace. That’s so very important.
I feel just terrible that I didn’t read this post earlier. I haven’t been in blogland, as our own furry baby has been feeling so very old and weak and sad. She’s 14 and we love her dearly. We are waiting for test results and then….we will have some very big decisions to make. Our hearts are broken as I know yours and Mr. Lovee’s is over Baby.
My heart is with you:

Why am I not shocked you have tap on a tree (or as you say a faucet)?
Oh what a haven … what a wonderful way to connect with nature and its surroundings!!
I so wish I had a beautiful shower like that ! Actually would love the acerage to put one in…
So nice to hear the Dr you found has given you some peace in this trying time… prayers and LOTS of good vibes being sent for baby…

peace and blessings to you, miss v and to sweet baby as well.
to enjoy such a luxury as an outside shower must be paradise. why would you ever want to leave? that is not the most practical in wisconsin…the weather is nice and warm right now (about 90 and humid today!) but the mosquitos would attack you mercilessly in the water!
thanks for always sharing your inspiration and your beautiful world. it matches your lovely soul perfectly 😉
enjoy the day.

Yay!
Yay!!
Yay!!!
Vanessa!
So good to hear you found a dr who you feel good about. It is so important! Lovely shower, we have a shower head like that in our “indoors” shower. I love it. But would be wonderful to have it outdoors…however I don’t have as much privacy as you do…you lucky duck!
ahh outdoor showers are the best. my parents have one up on the far west coast in pender harbour, bc. i love it, it used to be attatched to a tree but now is attatched to the “dog house” the little cabin me, my love and my buddydog stay in when we visit. nothing beats showering outside. sending baby good thoughts. though of you both this weeken when i met a lovely dog named yukon that was a chocolab 14 years old with cancer but he is trucking a long and doing well. wished upon a star for him and baby. take care.
Thanks for the link to the new Jonsi video, I love Sigur Ros, and I didn’t even know he had a solo album. Yay!
Hugging you and Baby; Matty and Mister! These are the special times. To love and to nurture…to hold!! Seeking good thoughts and words to be spoken! Hoorah for wonderful, caring doctors.
Claw foot tubs and brass head showers are made for magic and fairies. Enjoy!
Hugs
SueAnn
The entire post is MAGIC! Oh how I love your genius with your camera in your little Wonderland that you have created. I know of a New Age Hippie who lives on a Magic Mountain inhabited by fairies and fur babies…she’s actually an Enchantress, a Royal Gypsy Enchantress. **kisses** Deb
oh how I love your outdoor world!!!
x…x
gorgeous!!! Now for a nap in the hammock, right? Fun. The light was gorgeous. Great capture! Blessings friend!
Great idea! why I didn’t think of that. I want to try to make something like that this weekend. Thanks for sharing. I’ve got and idea.
-seff-
This is seriously the best idea anyone has ever had. I am so impressed. Thanks
