What ever have we been up to?
I've been making art, and jewels.
And getting into trouble, of the confectionery variety.
I've been playing with jewels a lot.
Oh that reminds me.
Folks have been asking me how to get to my new jewelry shop, and if my art and jewelry shop are one in the same?
They are not one in the same.
You can find…
Links to both are right up there below my banner, see them?
But I have to say, the easiest way to get to any of my shops, or to this blog is….
By visiting VanessaValencia.Com
Which is my main website, and has a left hand sidebar that will take you to said places.
Easy.
As for jewels, and other things…
It's beginning to look a bit Christmasey around here.
My old bird is hanging out with us this year, I can't decide if he is a duck?
I think he is…
But I want him to be a swan.
🙂
I have had him for ages and ages.
He was hand carved in Canada, and then after I got him, I had the audacity to decoupage him with French pages. Oh, about 10 years ago?
But, he likes it.
So, he is having fun this year.
Mister Lovee is thrilled about the 24 hour Christmas radio station.
Not.
Haha!
I say, come on, how can you not LOVE Christmas?
It's aaaammmaaaazing!
He says, Dovee, I'm Jewish.
🙂
Then he says in his very sarcastic dry voice.
Yay, Christmas, Yay, woo woo hoo.
But you know.
I know he loves it.
I know it.
I can tell.
No joke.
Lovee, you love it, you know it!
Last night after a hot shower, I sat on my bed and painted my toe nails fresh.
I was listening to the Christmas station on my alarm clock radio.
And then that song came on about the guy who meets his old flame in the store.
And they share some beers or something.
And then at the end he says….as I drove home the snow turned into rain.
And then they play Auld Lang Syne.
And I started to cry.
And Mister Lovee came in and said.
Is something wrong with your toe?
Are you okay?
And I said no.
Not my toe.
(haha, thought I was crying over my toe, silly goose)
Then I said, this song.
The way it goes into Auld Lang Syne at the end gets me.
Just made me tear up.
And he goes.
DOVEE, that is a new year's song, and Christmas hasn't even past yet!
What the heck?
And I said, I know.
But, it just choked me up for some reason, I don't know.
And he says, are you listening to the 24 hour Christmas station again?
And I smile and laugh with tears on my face.
Dripping down my chin.
And he rolls his eyes and walks off chuckling.
Haha!
Madman.
I tell ya.
Veering…
As for those funny Christmas Jar labels I popped in the shop this week…
They are dangerous!!!
The treats stay so fresh in the jars.
I am not a major sugar lover.
But, I was into the jars today.
And I made myself all crrazy.
My sister said, what is wrong with you?
You are crrrrrrrrazy.
And I said.
Well, I've been eating Reindeer p*op..
I can't type the word, or goodness knows what my ads will turn into.
And she just laughed and laughed, and said she needed to make some of those jars.
Imagine, someone calls and asks…
What have you been eating?
Angel toots.
Snowmen's hearts, bwahahahaha!?
😉
Yes, I have.
And.
The bestest.
Elf ears!
Oh my.
Treats in the dark, with twinkling lights, even better.
I love the darkness with only tree lights.
It feels like childhood.
Always and forever.
So, that's a tinge of what I have been up to.
I took out lots of dry plants from the garden.
(2 wheel barrows full)
It is warm in the sun day, but very cool at night.
So the plants know what's up, and they are dying or turning.
But I have my seeds in check.
And I am getting ready.
First winter rain, and in the spring seeds go.
Yes!
Well I best be off.
And as I said….
Lots of new sparkly earrings in my jewelry shop.
I love earrings.
They are such a fun accessory.
I wear earrings all the time.
And, when I make jewelry, I only make things that I would love to wear.
And, I try the pieces on over and over as I make them, to make sure they look good on.
Yay!
What are you up to?
Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me.
Love, V

Vanessa:
All the lovely, sparkly jewels! They are beautiful. I love earrings too. Little silver hoops on my upper piercings, but jingly jangly earrings on my bottom piercings! Heheeehehee…I wonder what a jingly jangly earring would look like in my nose piercing? 😀
I’m not Jewish…but I’m with Mister. I’m not much for Christmas music…well, except for the ol’ Bing Crosby stuff. I’m a scrooge. I admit it. But, I’m trying to be better this year. I’m putting up my decorations right now. I am surrounded by boxes and bins full of decorations. We put up the tree in the family room tonight. This weekend we’re putting up the “monster tree.” It’s huge and it sits in the middle of my big front window. Makes me tired to think about putting on the lights. But, once I’m done with the lights I enjoy the decorating process.
Wow…I’m just rambling now.

Gerushia’s New World
I have been making cookie snow globe party favors! Such fun. And I made some with store bought goodies and jazzed them up with icing. You should see the “goldfish” penguins – cutest thing ever! After I finish up some birthday cookies for my mother in law, I am going to icing up a whole bag of them.
xo,
Lisa
I love your duck/swan with his shiny crown!
Today is my birthday, the big 50!!! It’s weird because I don’t feel, look, or act my age.
So, it seems really odd that I’m actually 50. It seems like I was just in college.
We have a radio station here, LITE FM, that is playing all Christmas music. I love it.
I also play all of my old Christmas albums (yes, albums). If I’m feeling down, anytime of the year, I’ll play a
Christmas song or two & it cheers me right up! Andy Williams has always been my favorite.
Many, many years ago, my Mom worked for a Jewish Dr. who lived in the same condo that we did.
At Christmastime, they would love to come over & help us decorate the tree.
They even came by for Christmas dinner too.
The earrings are very pretty. I noticed a few new ones snuck in there yesterday!
Oh you know I love your Canadian Duck! We usually adapt know matter what were covered in..lolololol
Love your jewels….how about clip-ons…I know…but eventually the pierce ear thing gets old…and so do the eyes and sometimes the hole gets riped..(I know, but thats a long story and not a Christmas story lolol) just a suggestion🖤
Trying to get Christmasy….really trying….good idea….Christmas Music Channel
see ya later……………….🖤Debi
HAPPY HAPPY HAPPPPPPY!!!! BIRTHDAY!!!!!
Its so true, that we are only as old as we feel.
50 is young young young!!!! Keep living it up you lovely!!!
I have some beautiful clip ons, and I can convert any earring into clip on!
;)))

I just love your beautiful earrings! They are going to make such lovely gifts for the ladies in my family. The do look like gorgeous little ornaments hanging 🙂
You are sooo cute and funny, Vanessa! I hardly know how to narrow my comments because you talk about such a wonderful assortment in your posts! I love it!
Oh, and I know exactly the song you are talking about. A tear-jerker, it is.
Your jewels are gorgeous sparkles and your swan-duck is magnificently wordy with his fun coat!
Well, do you really want to know that I have mostly been up to laundry and dishes and cleaning? No, I didn’t think so. Ha! I did do a bit of creating, but only a bit. Sigh. Oh, but my son and daughter are out running errands for me right now, so I can be here writing to you instead of out hopping from store to store! Yippeee!
Ur duck is FANTASTIC… Angel Farts?????????? hmmmmm ummmmm… LOL
I love all of your sparkly gems…lots of sparkle..every where. I love it all. I have been making earrings too. I take them to work to sell. I believe that a person can not have enough beads and or findings.
Here in Grand Rapids, Mi. we have two raido stations that play Christmas music 24/7
I’m Jewish too. It is fun to listen and get wrapped up in the holiday spirit. Everything is bright and shinny…
I enjoyed your post very much.
Beautiful everything. I think the whole world is beautiful today. I love Christmas music. yesterday I bought a CD of Carole King’s Christmas music. (I think she’s Jewish so tell Mr. Lovee it is okay to like Christmas too, Carole must) I love Carole King I must have listened to Tapestery thousands of time in my life.
Jewelry is beautiful.
I’ve been shopping and wrapping and decorating. My granddaughter is coming over tomorrow for the weekend so get to do fun nanny kind of things.
I love that song by Dan Folgelberg one of my favorites I’ve played his CD so many times.
There is a radio station on the computer I get to it by clicking on aol radio, by Slacker. They have so many stations to choose from. This time of year I listen to the Winter Solstice and other Christmas stations the most.
Miss Renee, you are elbow deep in pure goooodness!! Awesome!!!
Yes, Mister does love the Holidays. He was just kidding 😉
He has a wicked sense of humor, that one.
Have sooo much fun with your gran, how
wonderful!!!
I love that song, too, Vanessa dear – it does make one melancholy though, doesn’t it? “Another Auld Lang Syne”. I loved Dan Fogelberg’s music, all of it. Look up “Longer” on Youtube (by him) you will love it, if you don’t already know it…
Beautiful jewels!!
Hugs,
Anne
Yay – Anne said it above me. The artist, Dan Fogelberg. They play it year round here on the “easy listening” channel, lol. I like to listen to it on the way home from work…makes the drive more relaxing so I don’t want to road rage on people. Hahaha! Anyway, it’s also one of my favorites and makes me melancholy…but happy too. Ah, memories of old loves.

Your earrings look amazing. I love the turquoise and red jewel combo. I bought my Madre the most stunning (chunky stones) red coral/turquoise necklace. It has silver beads in between and a huge silver cross at the bottom…very Santa Fe “concho” belt and cowboy boots meets Jesus style. She loved it and that made me happy. She wants some earrings to match, so I’ll have to look on your etsy site.
I am an earring kind of gal, so I am pleased to see you have a jewelry shop. I’m headed over there now to check out your treasures.
As a Swan myself, I think that Duck is definitely a Swan!
It’s already December 7th..I have yet to put up Christmas Decorations. I also have a show to direct coming up on the 15th. A lot of stuff is going on. Sigh…you know what with all of that, I’m happy the Holidays are here, my friend.
Lovely Shell, days are insane arent they? Life is like, voom, voom
voom, you turn one way , voom, another voom, 3, 4, 5, days pass just like
that. WOW. Its so surreal, this time thing 😉 Huge that baby
from me!! 😉

Lol I think all that sugar is sending you dappy, but that’s always a good thing. 🙂
I was doing some sewing the other day and I sat on the sofa sewing and somehow got through 3 Christmas films in a row, it was a brilliant day. 🙂
I love your new earrings, sparkly goodness.
I know, and it made me so sick too, I have learned my lesson ;)))
My body hates sugar. Darn thing 😉

I know exactly what song you’re talking about. ^-^
I love Dan Fogelberg & his music… Same Old Lang Syne makes me kinda teary too… but he has that gift. ^_~
If you haven’t listened to his music much, and you have some time, do it! He is one of my most favorite musicians. When he died a few years ago, I cried & cried. I felt silly for crying over someone I’d never met, but his music is so special to me & holds such good memories from my childhood, that I felt like I’d lost a dear friend. I’d say start with his album “The Innocent Age”…
And I don’t think your mad for crying becuase of a song. Amazing art, whatever the form, should touch us deeply enough to evoke strong feelings. ^-^
As for holiday fluff & fun, I have our wee tree up & mostly decorated. ^-^ As soon as it stops raining (ha!) I’ll be outside scavenging for branches so I can make my Winter wreath. ^-^
It’s been a rough past few days around here, so I need to find something to cheer up my missus. Maybe some more cheeryness around the house… I think I’ll make a cotton ball garland & find all the snowflakes I made last year. And then make some more. =D
Hope all y’all are doing well!
XOXO
That sounds like a sad Christmas song. When you wrote “he ran in to and old flame at the store” I thought you were talking about “Blame it on the mistletoe” which has a much happier ending!
Beautiful earrings, too bad I never got mine pierced.
I think I remember the song you were referring to…’Met my old lover in the grocery store’…etc. Uncomfortable as it was… Life goes on.
I’m not being sarcastic, as I am not that type of person. When I use to hear that song I would tear up too, not for me, but because it made more sense for my hubby…it was more HIS song…you know how guys are with their old flames. So…oddly enough…that song made me jealous way back when…funny how things stick in our brains. That is why I said ‘Life Goes On.’ Heartache and all.
On to more cheerful stuff…love the SWAN! I have recently seen some tiny swans made with mulberry paper (white) handmade by BonnieNuitDesigns doll maker (Kim Corey) on Etsy who has a sweeet swan for sale and some precious dollies too!
OH, and today is one of my sister-in-laws birthdays and I can’t remember which day yours is as my other sister-in-law’s birthday is on the 12th. So, I am wishing you birthday wishes ahead or behind your birthday so I don’t miss it!
love, and hugs
Miss Teresa
I woke up feeling particularly festive this morning and catching up with your blog has just reinforced it! I’m definitely going to be scheduling a chrismtas making day some point in the next two weeks! xxx
Hoooray!!!!!!!!! 😉

Your jewelry shop is delightful! Congrats to you, Vanessa! I promptly liked the shop. I love your swan. Yes, that is what I shall call him, too. Very unique piece. I love finding unusual treats that speak to you. Thanks for sharing your jewelry shop – I wish you oodles of success!
