Doodle Day #3 + Pups in Paris!

I have always been quite a pretender.

I used to be able to have full conversations with characters in my mind as a child.

My mom would ask, Vanessa who are you talking to?

(as she looked at me through the rear view mirror)

And I'd say, no one.

In a tone as though she was invading my little world.

If I was really bored, and I found a clothing catalog, I could have a whole story going on with the models in the catalog.  Back and forth page to page, for hours.

So, while Matty, Miles and I are all bundled up together, trying to get Matty well…

We, ahem, I mean I, am dreaming we are in other places.

Doodle travel adventures, if you will.

Paris in the spring time 3

Of course the puppies want to be in Paris.

Who wouldn't?

Anything for a busy French cafe and a croissant.

Of the real variety.

Non?

Paris in the spring time 4

Matty seems to be doing a little bit better after every dose of medication.

He has one steroid for any possible inflammation/pain.

4 antibiotics for a multitude of infections, even though the blood tests show none.

And, one valley fever pill, even though he didn't test positive.

It's a lot, but like the doc said, it's all or nothing.

The vets seemed to think that if we were not aggressive, the worst could happen.

So, that's why all the pills.

I don't love pills.

But, they can be good when needed.

Now we wait wait wait, and see.

A few more days of pills to know.

I hope all your collective well wishes, and huge from a afar get well thoughts, are building like a giant snow ball, on it's way to cure the little 38 pound fur babe.

I have so much hope and positivity in my heart.

Thanks for helping build me up, buttercups.

I was real real sad.

And now, I am more hopeful and cheery.

Thinking good thoughts.

I don't think that the ER doc talking to me about saying good-bye really helped.

I think he'd be impressed that Matty seems to be getting a tinge better and not worse.

Although…

Last night Matty seemed not to feel well.

Shivers and such.

I bundled him up and rubbed his body gently.

But today, he is brighter than he has been since February 17th.

And always by my side.

Although, don't tell sweet Miles, but Matty is always my little weasel, sleeping with me at night, and following me around like a baby chick.

I love them both the same, tons, equally, but different, but equal.

But more than I could even imagine my heart could love.

You get it.

I don't have human babes, but these babes feel as much my children as any furless creatures could.

🙂

For now, it's Paris by way of doodles.

I'll be busy with sale orders this weekend (this is wonderful!), oh me oh my!!
Happy as pie! Danka, Danka!!! 🖤

Here's a little something from our Puppies in Paris on Friday…

ps:  I too, like many of you, have thought about inner ear vestibular stuff regarding Matty.  Since I suffer from vertigo, I have thought about it many times.  The docs say that it is almost impossible to diagnose in pups, because you can't ask them, are you dizzy? etc.  But it really is on my mind for sure.

Okay, see you real soon.

Looove,

Us

Sparkly heart

I love the doodle dogs! I see more & more color seeping in!
I’m glad that Matty seems a little better. I’m sure he’s getting plenty of TLC!
There were some awesome pictures in that video. It’s been almost 30 years since I visited Paris. I have no idea what she was saying but it sounded pretty. I know Spanish, not French.
I’ve been watching your sales number growing. Good for you. You are going to be super duper busy packing & shipping!
Thanks for keeping us posted on Matty. I keep running to the computer to see if there’s any new news on him.

  2. Alia says:

I am so glad that Matty is feeling better, even if it is just a little bit. Getting a little better is always better than getting worse! I will keep sending positive vibes his way. Oh, and your doodles of pups in Paris are adorable!

  3. Chrissi says:

Yeayyy better better every day little Matty Man.
p.s. Being a Mom to both the furless and furry kind of children alike, I will stand my ground and say that sometimes the furless kind are way overrated! Those precious furry babies never disappoint or crush my spirit like the human ones do!!

  4. Kelly says:

Good, I see you have posted Vanessa! I have checked in “occasionally”, to make sure that Matty and you ALL are doing well! YaY, for Matty for being a good boy as he must take all his meds. Giving pets medicine can be real tricky feat!
I really had to think about what that vet told you. To say goodbye? UGH! That is an even harder pill to swallow.
Continue to stay HOPEFUL and your friends will send out prayers and positive energies of Love as you wait out these next few days.
Doodle your cares away Miss V as you recoup! So many wonderful places of imagination you can visit my friend!!!
    Sending, LOVE and HUGS 😉
I will try to doodle in between my trying to get some well needed spring cleaning and organizing!

  5. Melanie says:

Thank you for that little trip to Paris! Your doodles are amazing, Vanessa.
I love the happy sun! I know your vertigo must be just awful when it hits you, but wouldn’t it be just wonderful if that’s all it is with Matty? The doodling seems to be helping you through this. I’m full of hope.

  6. Shell says:

I’ve was sick for about two days, I’m behind with my blogging. I’m hoping Matty is getting better. Our furry friends are family…to see them sick always makes us sad. I totally understand. Sending love to Matty to be on the mend.

  7. Janel says:

    V,
I think when a dog is not well and exhibiting the shivers or shakes and seem to be a bit needy clingy it is because they are in pain. Dogs exhibit pain by shaking or shivering. Just thought I’d let you know. I have been told this by my vets in past. Sending more puppy love and prayer.

  8. Kristine says:

Vanessa ~ I am so glad I re-found your blog – I have been away for awhile – I loved the Doggie Doodles – Your updates and I felt all your emotions re your furry family – Because I, too – Only have my furry babies – So I can totally relate … Well Wishes to All …
Please visit and join my inspirational blog when you have a spare minute @ http://www.kristinelivinginthemoment.blogspot.com – I would love to have you!

  9. Maryann says:

Glad to hear that Matty is slowly getting back to his normal self. Will keep the prayers coming his/your way. Fur baby or human baby, there is nothing more heartbreaking than seeing your loved ones in pain or misery and not being able to make it go away yourself. Sounds like he’s in good hands all the way around, though. A friend with a little male fur baby found out hers has diabetes, and she must administer shots to him twice a day. Ugh. Probably harder for mom than fur baby. Thinking of you, Vanessa.

  10. Denise says:

Oh my goodness! I have missed a few days and had to go back and read the terrible news about your baby! I didn’t read all of the comments so don’t know if anyone mentioned this, but this whole thing sounds a lot like one of my kitties years ago after she had a stroke. She was falling over and running into things, etc. I hope they have checked for this? I don’t even know how they DO check for a stroke. With my kitty, she had a ruptured blood vessel in her eye and the vet knew right away what had happened. After that she was totally blind. Sad. But she was old old. I will pray for your baby. I’m happy to hear that he is feeling a little better!
    Denise

  11. Beti says:

I love Puppies in Paris! Glad he felt better today.

  12. Retta says:

Came back to check the status of your Matty. Glad to hear that he’s doing a wee bit better 🙂

  13. Jenny Mulvey says:

Just know you have done everything you can do to get your little warrior better. You have done everything for a loved one that can be done and that means everything. You got Matty to the vets. Your working out funding for the bills. Your wrapping your body and soul around him transfering strong spirit and love energy into his experience. Nothing heals like that! Your love is the strongest prayer you can put out in the universe and this soul is very lucky to have you and you husband as his family and care givers. Sending strong prayers and healing thoughts.

  14. Miss Linda says:

Stopping by to see how everyone is. Glad that there still is improvement. That is a fabulous sign. Still sending positive thoughts and prayers. Please give Matty and Miles big hugs from all of us here, also hugs for you and Mr. Lovee.
The pups in Paris, wonderful idea. I love the doodles. Getting ready to post mine, Just waiting for good lighting.
Our furry ones are our children.

  15. Miss Linda says:

One more thing, Pretending gets us through lifes lessons.

  16. Lisa Swifka says:

Staying positive, being vigilant and lots of love……you are doing all the right things my friend. All of us here in BohoLand are sending Matty lots of good healing thoughts. They look good in Paris! 🙂
As for the story telling…..I used to do that too. Then I used to play a game with my nieces and nephews (one of my nieces recently told me she remembered the game I’d play and was telling her Mother in Law about it). we would be sitting or walking somewhere in a public place (like having lunch or shopping etc) and someone would walk by. I’d say to them something like “see her, that’s Margaret, she used to work in advertising but she got tired of it and now doing fashion design and……” and on I’d go. the first time they would ask “do you know her?” and I’d say no. They quickly got in the spirit of things and would say “See that guy, his name is Frank….” and they’d come up with a story about the stranger. It’s really quite fun to look at a person or two people together and come up with a made up back story. It’s like writing a story with live characters, right on the spot. And they really got in to it. I haven’t done it in years since they all grew up but it’s nice to know it was a happy memory. Try it sometime.

  17. G.G. Pinkster says:

Oh Darlings Dearest…..When I think of you all in Arizona, I think of the Tastiest Treat of Treats,
Of the gloriest of glory, of the brightest of bright and the dandiest of doodlers .
I know that this heart ache comes knocking at the door of your scared heart just wanting to take it over and make you numb.
Your doing such a marvelous job ……. Fur Mama and Fur Papa perfection…..
I have been listening to Josephine Baker and french singers the last few days !
It feels like I met you all for tea in Paris and the music now takes me too the exotic, beautiful, creative self.
Ohhhh woooff, wooff, soft bark with a whine in high notes ending in low notes and a BIG KISS to Matty.

  18. sj says:

I love the doodles. THey would make a cool set of curtains.

  19. Theresa says:

Dear Vanessa, I am sending all my love and thoughts to Matty. I hope the medicines do the trick. I would do anything for my furry babies, as well. As much as I don’t like giving pills to them, either. You do what you need to do. I HOPE he will be fully better soon! In the meantime, I do love the Miles and Matty in Paris. How adorable it is! Please give Matty a big hug from me.

  20. Candace says:

Dear Matty, Please get 100 percent SOON. We are trusting Vanessa to tell you this up close and personal. We have to stick together!

  21. maria says:

I hope your puppy fully recovers! 🙁 Its no fun. you must be so worried. Stay strong puppy! xoxoxo

  22. NifAlready says:

It’s good to hear Matty is responding to his meds. I hope he makes a full recovery. Thanks for keeping us posted!
It’s doodling thing. You’ve awoken something in me that has been sleeping for a long lng time. It’s magnificent! Here is my second doodles: http://wp.me/p350TS-65
    Have a Happy Sunday!

  23. Shaylee says:

    Dear Vanessa,
I belong to a site devoted to gardening. Have been encouraging people to visit your site. I posted a pic of yours and gave you credit. I’m sorry I should have also asked your permission first. I wasn’t thinking. I’m not sure how sites like Pin Interst work.
    Hope Matty feels better

  24. M says:

It must be in the air, because on the same day you doodled Matty and Miles in Paris, I doodled my boys in Paris too! (Otis the cat and Bonsai the wiener dog!) Isn’t that funny?
I’m so delighted to hear that dear Matty is on the mend! Hooray! 🙂

  25. Emalina says:

Oh how lovely you all went to Paris in your mind! I’m sure your animal babies had the best of times with you eating croissant and running around the sculptures in the Rodin Museum garden 🙂 Again, I’m so pleased Matty is recovering slowly but surely.
You’re the only other person I’ve ever ‘met’ you used to make up stories using catalogue models – I did this for years, cutting them out and spreading them over the floor into families, to work out intricate stories about how they related to eachother. Maybe not so surprising considering my career nowadays 🙂

  26. Nikki says:

I’m just now catching up on your recent posts. So sorry to hear about Matty being sick! And glad that he’s starting to recover. I’m sending healing energy and prayers to you and your family.
I have been doing some doodling too, in the pages of my art journal. Perhaps I’ll share some at some point. It is, as you said, fun and therapeutic.
    Many blessings,
    Nikki aka Starcat

  27. laura says:

I’ve been off the computer for about a month so have missed all this going on. I really, really hope that Matty is much better! I’m sending tons of healing thoughts to your sweet boy.
I do doodle, sometimes, but I love your idea. I’m going to join in and start to doodle more too! 🙂
    love & blessings

  28. Kathy says:

Hadn’t been by in a while. I stop in to “visit” and —WHAT??? Holy Smokes! Last time I was on hiatus from your blog I come back to find you sick, sick, sick. And now, poor Matty. What in the world is going on there?! Glad to hear he’s on the mend though. You guys take care, you hear?! Gotta be scary. Nothing worse than having your heart painful and bruised and nothing to do but sit and wait. The cinnamon rolls looked grand, btw. YUM!
I’m pulling for the puppy dog. And the people-people, too. Be well, Missy Vanessa.
