Just last week we were Walking in a Winter Wonderland. Today it is as if Winter was never here. The sun and the birds don't think so…
It is as if they have forgotten how cold they were…
I think they are "in the mood for love…" I certainly am done with painfully cold fingertips and shivering in the evening cold. We are so lucky in Arizona. Our Winter is almost over, well not over but we get 70' and up days. I for one, am officially done putting away the snowflakes and any lingering holiday remnants…Yes, I know, it is almost February. I have no pressure, Mr. Lovee doesn't care if there are still shamrocks hanging around him from last year, he is a delight. But, I did break out my scissors last night and started cutting hearts…. and sprinkling the pink glitter.
I bought these two little wooden rabbits at "The Golden Goose" thrift store, which as I have said, is becoming an expensive antique store more than a fun treasure find store. But, that is another story….So, These rabbits… They were in blue outfits – I painted them into black outfits instead and made them some hearts to wear around their necks…
My studio is a pitiful pit of disaster. Lots of supplies everywhere, I could hardly find room for this little project…I also found myself putting up my F.G.&Co. Love banner from Bon. Ooo, up above the banner on the top of the shelf you can see two little girls that will be posted for sale in my looming Etsy shop. Actually, today I have to go into the housing world, but tomorrow I intend to spend my day getting my little shop going and doing lots of Art…I "intend to" being the operative words.
The other lovely find from the "Golden Goose" is this plate that I think works beautifully with some of my Black Applets.
And, yes I have left the best for last. Clowning around. Seeing as how we have many scardy cats who just can not stand to be in any room with anything "clowny" – I decided I would share my clown painting. I totally tweaked it last night, it is still wet..oils… It was browns, awful. I made it brights. And, I am posting it especially for Miss Small Foxling and Miss MeShell. I think they will enjoy this enormously. I am wondering if I can part with it, and if so, which one should have it.. Which, mind you, I have not decided to part with, parting is traumatic for me. Go easy.
Hi little girls… Wannna Balloon??? I do not think clowns are scary. Or maybe, I like to be scared? I mean, If I was alone in a dark Alley, which I should never be in any way, but if I was, and a clown appeared I'd freak. I would just fall over and die of a heart-attack right there… But, this nice little guy, with all these bright colors I added.. Come on…. I am more afraid that I didn't check out the artist before I added my colors actually… Can you imagine, my "one" valuable and I painted over it and ruined it.. HA. So, tell, me, how do you feel about clowns??? Do they scare you? What is scary?? That you do not know who it is behind the make-up?? Or that Stephen King made them scary? Did you have a clown incident???
You know, Actually… To me clowns are these kind of slightly unstable guys who could totally snap at you if you don't take the balloon… One day I was in the car, we were at the gas station, I was little. My mom was pumping gas and I saw this clown drive up and have one heck of a time getting out of his Volkswagen Bug in costume and big red shoes. Then he was trying to put air in his tires I think? and something was going wrong and he was kicking the car tire. I found it amusing, not scary. But, now, well, maybe it was scary. A temperamental clown playing with kids… Hmmm…..Yep. You are right, SCARY. Cinderella will be a very unhappy cupcake girl when she sees this, Clown is a word she does not even entertain in her vocabulary.
By the way, Cinderella has a lovely collection of clothes. Lovelier than many I know… Dresses specifically, and she is sharing them!!!! Check it out. Although, she does something I can not stand, she parts with a lot of it. Too much of it, I think…
Well, I am off the clown talk. I am thinking of collecting clown things next. And above, is the sunny snowless morning I awoke to today!!! Have a great day!!! I am off to the Housing world, I even painted a little something a few years ago to motivate me. It hangs on the door to the storage room….Houses. Now that can be scary. alone in a dark house, and boy do I have stories. Scary, very.
A thought.. aren't the rabbits perfect? I can hang a little something around them no matter what the holiday??? Only they woke me up twice, they rattle…Dirty window, yikes…

i love your bunnies and their glittery hearts. but i do find clowns scary…and jordan finds them even scarier. why? when he was young he was afraid of anyone wearing a mask or a lot of make-up. and for me, i don’t know why. they just give me the creeps. but bunnies, bunnies are fantastic!
The clown is FREAKISH! Brian loves it. He’s all, “Can it live with us? Can I take it to my office? Can I?” The bunnies are much more my speed. And the glitter makes me happy. I’m like a racoon… or a fox, I suppose. I love all things happy and shiney. The “LOVE” banner is fab. I would leave it up all year. There’s always room for more love!
Hi Ness, Just got back from seeing my beloved miss Potter/Beatrix Potter film. Have been beside myself in anticipation for this film delight. What a nice surprise that you and your new bunnies are having a wonderous weekend.
Love Michelle
Love your bunnies…what a great find! would love to go thrifting with you …sigh..maybe oneday huh? so many cool finds over there in the USA! The love banner is wonderful!
Im not a big fan of real life clowns but your painting is fantastic! my friend recently hired one for her kids 3rd birthday which left half the children in tears – they were all traumatised!! ha!
Hi Vanessa – thank you so much for your incredible comments on my own wee corner of the blogging world – it is lovely to meet you! I love your energy and the beauty you have surrounded yourself with – I look forward to reading more…..
you know……I have given up being scared of clowns, I left that behind with my 20’s…
actually when I was small my mommy collected clown figurines, they were everywhere, until she ditched them all to move on to her next obsession, which was roosters…
I didn’t start getting weirded out by clowns until after I saw Steven King’s “It”. Been creeped out ever since, I’m a late bloomer when it comes to that.
Bunnies on the other hand, always cute and friendly…except in Donnie Darko. 🙂
What a delightful post…glad I found your blog…would be lovely if you can visit me as well: http://www.gypsypurple.blogspot.com

Well…..I did have on unfortunate clown incident when I was younger….not so bad that it scarred me for life….however…I do think some clowns have a very sinister smile…..not all….just some….yours seems to be friendly….at least I hope he is…funny thing….just thought of it….girl clowns don’t creep me out as much as boy clowns….I mean the sinister boy clowns….fun, nice, sweet boy clowns are fine….I am blabbering again….I gues I’ll go pull a magazine from the middle of the rack and read it!…snicker!
Dear Vanessa – well your blog is always SO interesting – clowns – well I’m middling – to indifferent – I just don’t know – but YES – something exciting is brewing – JOIN US??????? – xox – eb.
I completely forgot about the Debutante and Heart Fund balls. Traumatizing experiences don’t stick with me very long. Matter of fact, I forgot either event even happened the second I got in the car to leave both of them. UGH! Why must you remind me of such stupid events! By the way roganizing is my way of saying RE-organizing, it has absolutely nothing to do with men’s hair loss. Thanks!
Clowns DO scare me! Something about them… I conjur up images of Stephen King movies. I still look in drainage gutters when I walk by, expecting to see a red balloon. But even before that… I never wanted a clown at my birthday parties. No way. Sorry!
ooooooooooooo you spoil us with such varied and colorful eye candy!!
Love the be-hearted rabbits, love the clown.! I have a happy clown memory,in middle school,I did a dramatic interp called”goodbye to the clown”. It was about a little girl who has a pretend clown to accept her fathers death. I won my 1st 2nd place trophy at that speech tournament, surprised it didn’t turn me into a clown collector.
Vanessa, love the rabbits – i am year of the rabbit so i have a particular fondness for them.
as for clowns, whoa! that clown painting, major flashback, looks eerily close to the clown painting from my childhood bedroom!
oh, i just remembered – i love the clown in ‘Uncle Buck’!!
The scene where UB tells the clown “get in your mouse(car)and beat it”
That is such a wondrous winter landscape – then gone in a flash. I read the post yesterday, then came across these clowns http://www.knitsonya.com/mt/Clowns.jpg
I had to come back and comment. They were part of a display in a chocolate shop in San Francisco.
For reasons unknown, I would never alter anything that I bought from the shops possibly because I’m afraid of messing it up, I admire your artistic skills. Okay…about the clown: it is scary-are you out to frighten us with wide-mouthed opera singers and evil clowns? (http://www.fortheretarded.com/scaryclowns.php) *joke* I’m off to check out the pretty dresses!
…ahhh clowns. I don’t think they’re particularly scary, then again, I actually liked sitting on Sant’s lap as a child…something my sister or neice refused to do. I like the painting.
And yes, what is it about these thrifts nowdays? I was at one today, that is more expensive than my resale clothing store…hmmmm
Your blog is such a creative place….
Come and see my art from the heart.
ooooh, SNOW! Lovely mythical snow! I would not believe in it at all if it weren’t for all the wonderful pictures folk’s have been posting all winter! And i also see “FIRE”! I adore Anais Nin and that book jumped right out at me. 🙂
The clown is not so scary…i think you did a grand job “de-evil-ing” him! And i am finding myself wanting to grab handsful of that fantastic pink glitter to sprinkle liberally upon EVERYTHING! It’s magical! 🙂
