Oh my, they are so delightful! I’m quite the book collector😘
Lovelovelove,

I would say Alice in Wonderland in the classics. I have 55 different editions. Love your pics as always.
The Secret Garden was one of my favorites- I still garden to this day!
Michaele
Oh, they are pretty too. My favorite Heidi.
EEEEEeeeee! How to choose one? I am partial to Heidi 😉 But truly, love them all. <3 What a beautiful set! Thank you for sharing such beauty of your world. <3 Heidi
Love them all! But Ann of Green Gables is my fav! Have given this set to my daughter – would love one of my own!
I so loved Anne of Green Gables as a teen! Trying to interest my daughter in it now. The books are so lovely♡
Oh, the story of Alice and the Mad Hatter! Everyone should enjoy a trip down the rabbit hole at least once a year!
What a wonderful generous idea! I havent read those titles but actually have them on a list of ‘to-get’. My favourite book is The Enchanted Wood by Enid Blyton. It was the first book I remember reading and I was swept up in the magic and fantasy and still carry the sparkle in my heart today. Stay safe and happy my friend 💛
A Little Princess, my absolute favorite! A re-read every year.
Thank you for bringing back some fun this summer.
Some of my very favorites from childhood–especially Heidi and Little Women! I also loved Jack and Jill by Louisa May Alcott–have you read that one? I still have my copy. This is a gorgeous set of books! I’ve never seen this set. Just lovely.
Ohhhh, I’ve been wanting copies of these for a while and these ate so lovely! ðŸ˜
I love the Sword in the Stone <3 It's probably one of my favorites because I grew up with the Walt Disney classic on VHS ^.^
What a wonderful set of books, and you are so generous to have a giveaway! I have a large library with many garden, cooking and craft books. Love to read! My favorite is “The Wizard of Oz”
Oh oh!!! My favorite fairytale is Rapunzel!I used to sit on my dresser with my bathrobe on my head pretending I was in the tower waiting to be rescued! Hahaha i love fairytales even more as an adult!
Hansel & Gretel is one of my all-time favorites since childhood 🙂
Oh my Giddy Aunt they are most beautiful books I have ever seen.
Ohhh a favourite tale? So hard to choose as like you, so many books have shaped my life.
I would say of course Alice in Wonderland…because you know…it is the Mad Hatter and rabbits and roses and Alice though I do love Heidi and the fact they brought Clara home to grow strong and a healthy….
Oh but then.. I have just remembered I do love The Secret Garden…lol
It truly is hard work being me sometimes, lol.
Big kiss noises Linda moi
Anne of Green Gables was, and still is, so captivating to me. I actually got to visit L.M. Montgomery’s house in P.E.I. many years ago!
Ahhh love this so much! Love Anne of Green Gables and Little Women!🥰💞
I think my two favorite childhood books where Black Beauty and Jungle Book. I did love Little Women too!
Oh they are all delightful. I wouldn’t want to pick one. All equally enchanting. It’s such a generous gesture.📚 Whoever wins it will be delighted.👑💗💛💚
My favorite is Anne of Green Gables. But also love Little Women 🥰
Those look lovely! I love Little Women. One of my all time favorites! Good luck to everyone!
love & blessings
~*~
ps… hugs & kisses to Matty & Miles!
What a beautiful giveaway! We are all kindred spirits! I’ve loved all these books since I was a little girl. My copies of Little Women and Heidi were my mother’s. I also loved Charlotte’s Web and thought that I personally had discovered The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. I didn’t know it was a classic! :).
These are such pretty books! Two of my favorites are Little Women & Heidi!! I loved the movies alsoâ¤ï¸ðŸ¥°
Oh so many book loves, how to choose? I suppose one of the earlier books I remember reading for myself the first time was “The Little Princess,” illustrated by Tasha Tudor. The wonderful doll museum that used to be in Belleview Washington, had marvelous dolls that reminded me of Sarah’s doll. So sad when that closed and the collection was sold off, I adored that place. I will visit it again some day for I am sure it will be there in my version of heaven!
I absolutely adore Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren. Perhaps it is because I am Scandinavian and I had a monkey when I was little and loved and rode horses…although, I was never able to lift one like Pippi.
You lovely generous person, to give someone a chance to win these lovely and well loved books.
Goodness, how exciting! I love Through the Looking Glass as one of my favorites, I just love everything about it! I’m also listening to The Princess and the Goblin right now, and I’ll be hunting up The Princess and Curdie after that! I am a big fan of all the Anne of Green Gables books, and when I was younger I loved Old Fashioned Girl by Louisa May Alcott, though I guess I haven’t read it in a long time! I should dig it out and read it again. I also loved the Little House books when I was a kid. I still have those, and they are another set that I should read again. Goodness, I have a heap of favorite books that I haven’t read is ages, I guess you’ve put me on a good path. XOXOXOX
I love this pretty set! All of these are great books. The Secret Garden is pure magic to me. I first read it in the fifth grade and have loved it every since.
Oh I love these colorful editions! A favorite tale is “The Secret Garden” and I have yet to read Anne of Green Gables 😀
I love Little Women so much! Books were everything to me growing up. I still love them so.
I have (and still!) read all these stories but I am and will always be an Anne Girl! â¤ï¸ As a red headed bookworm, Anne will always be my kindred spirit.
Is there anything that you do that isn’t absolutely magical?!!! Haha! I’m right there with you Girl! I can hear the rain drops gently tapping the tin roof. I recently read ‘The Girls With No Names’ and it’s definitely one of my favorites now. The story is heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. There’s magical moments followed by gut wrenching disappointment.
The Velveteen Rabbit and the original non-Disney version of The Little Mermaid…it really does make you cry…p.s. love your cozy cottage and star stockings…
Being a guy, I probably read a book you’ve never heard of. The title is “Freckles.†It’s about a guy who lost a hand when he was young. He loved the forest so much that he created his own secret garden in the middle of one. He didn’t share it with anyone until he met a girl who accepted him for the way he was. It’s a young adult readers novel that I read many years ago. I still love it till this day.
Theres nothing i love more than a trip to the library… I’d come home with so many books i couldn’t possible read them all in the time alotted but i just couldn’t resist.. Especially big picture books of animals and travel… oh my! A surprising (at least to me) tale that i just loved was Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein… so so different than the movies we all know.. but good.. the writing is SO good… I would love to win your book set.. I don’t think i’ve read any of them before and i have a little granddaughter who needs to be introduced.. Hugs! deb
I love Little House in the Prairies. My grandmother grew up in those simple times. Laura Ingellas was a super hero to me! She had so much fun in the prairies with family and friends. So so so curious about everything, always wanting to do the right thing and being a true friend. Great family and life values!!! Wish we could be in those simple times right this minute. Don’t you think V? Wishing joyful times in your garden. xoxo
Love your sparkle style so much! This set is beautiful! Favorites are any of the Anne Shirley books and Jane Eyre! Xoxo
Such a generous giveaway Miss V! I shall tell you that my favorite tale(s) is/are The Secret Garden and The Little Princess. I love them both so so much!!!
xoxo,
~Dena
I’m definitely a March girl! Little Women all the way â¤ï¸
What a nice giveaway. These books are beautiful! I love to read and for me it is very hard to choose a favorite. Many times it depends on the mood I am in or the season we are in. Little Women is definitely on of my favorites though. Thank you Vanessa.
You are always so generous!!!! Thank you! I love anything bu Emily Dickinson. But my name is from East of Eden by John Steinbeck. I have such move for his stories.
Alice in wonderland ðŸ°ðŸ“šðŸ“™
This is literally so generous of you. My favorite would be Alice In The Wonderland.
And also this set is so pretty. I’m seriously a sucker for good looking books
My all time favorite is The Secret Garden and The Little women. I am in love with this boxset, would love to add this to my collection. I love these colourful flowery cover designs.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! I read it to my goddaughters years ago when they stayed with me for a week. Every night after dinner, we’d crawl into bed and read till sleepy. One of my favorite memories. 🙂
I love Anne of Green Gables best with Sense and Sensibility a close second! And I just love your blog by the way. Your riotous use of color is such and inspiration!
I love these books-I’ve read (and Re-read) them but never such beautiful editions. Love your blog and photos!!!
Alice in Wonderland has always been a favorite of mine. I found a tattered copy at a yard sale with beautiful sketches and carried it around forever. Since then I’ve replaced it (it fell apart from use) but I will always love that original copy. Also Little Women is a favorite. And the Secret Garden! Can’t choose just one apparently 🙂
Good Morning Vanessa
What a sweet thing to do* a book giveaway* I adore books of all kinds, love them all. But I do have a favorite book and its called Pocketful of Pinecones. I love Little House on the Prairie also and another favorite is Anastasia, love them all really. The Secret Garden, oh my is a favorite. Well I didn’t pick one because there are too many
love your shoes and stockings
love deezie
Oh what gorgeous books you have! I have always loved books – some of my favorites as a child were the Little House series, Nancy Drew, Little Women , the list is long. These days I enjoy collecting decorating books and I also love Susan Branch! Thank you for doing a giveaway – so nice of you 🙂
What a nice giveaway! The first story that I remember capturing me was The Red Shoes. After that Little Women was a fave as well. I don’t think I read the Princess story but now must read that!! I’m taking it as a sign to read it as I just did a princess photo shoot with my granddaughter proving one is never too old for princess dreams!
Hard to pick a favorite! I loved “The Box Car Children “ and “ Mrs Pigglewiggleâ€.
Love all you lovely books!
I like the image of Matty waiting by the oven, hoping for a bite of a cookie.
I bet his favorite book would be “Hound of the Baskervilles”.
I absolutely love Alice in Wonderland!! The whimsy, the joy, the unique nuances of each character, I mean everything!!
I was always very sick as as child, that meant home a lot and hospitalized at least once a year. It was very lonely, books were my only escape.Grew up reading all of these, and in turn instilled in all of my children a love of reading. Hopefully one day they will pass it on to their children!
I grew up reading Heidi and Little Women repeatedly, along with An Old Fashioned Girl and Jane Eyre. Can you believe I was a grown woman, an adult and a mother, before I read Anne of Green Gables or any of Francis Hodgson Burnett’s works? These are beautiful copies of the books…
What a lovely giveaway….thank you! I love Little Women , Anne of Green Gables and so many more!!💛✨💗
While I love all four books, my favorite tale from my childhood is probably Dominic by William Steig. I tracked down a copy of my own when I was in college. I think you’d enjoy it too Vanessa. ^_^ It’s fairly short and has the loose illustrations for which Mr. Steig was known but it’s a magical adventure and has a joyful message. It’s the kind of book that, when you give it a bit of time, reignites your inner pilot light.
The books are so lovely! I know my girls would love reading them with their tea in the afternoon. Thanks for giving these away as a gift. You are wonderful and I always love reading your tales. 🙂
Looking back, I’d have to say The Wind in the Willows is my favorite. The animal characters are so appealing. And the setting so intriguing. This is an interesting topic. Thanks for bringing it up, Vanessa. I too am a book lover and frequently have more books from the library than I can possibly read. Oh deliciousness!
My favorite children’s book is Roxaboxen by Alice McLerran. The illustrations by Barbara Cooney are delightful. The story is very nostalgic and innocent.
I love them all, but mostly Litte Women, that book is by far the most loved for my little girl´s heart. It opened a world to me and it change all my perspective about women, cause it was a book full of women when almost every cartoon and movie back then was by men and had very few women. I used to play being a March sister, so it’s really very dear to my heart. That set is so gorgeous, thank you for the opportunity!
Lovely set!
My favorite of all time is 1001 Nights – the main story arch of how she used her wit and charm to stop a ruthless king by storytelling!
I also love Anne of Green Gables – an all-time favorite for me. A more modern heroine is Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games. A great tale, too.
One of my favourite stories is the story about a little girl and her first day of kindergarten. It’s just a small story to be shared with family and good friends on a balmy summer night under the open sky when memories flash up like the twinkling of fireflies. Let me tell it to you…
The Flying Red Boots
Years ago, I may as well say “once upon a time”, there was a little girl, and of course, that little girl was me. 🙂
Just like Little Red Riding Hood I always wore something red. In my case it was boots. I loved my red boots! I adored them! And since I lived in Southamerica near the equator I must have looked quite an eccentric three-and-a-half-year-old. Little neat girls used to wear sandals, ballerinas or T-bar shoes which were probably better suited for hot, tropical temperatures. I, however, imagined myself to be an exquisite blend between a gipsy princess, a cowgirl and Pippi Longstocking. My boots were only the epitome of free-thinking and the untamed wildness within me.
Then came my first day of kindergarten. I was extremely shy by nature, and a place full of children, all strangers to me, wasn’t exactly my idea of having fun. “I don’t want to go there!” said I, headstrong as I was, and pouted. “But you have to. All children do. You’ll make friends. You’ll see.” But however hard my mommy tried to convince me, I remained utterly reluctant to venture out into the unknown.
Finally she said, “Put your boots on.” Somehow the boots got me going but on my way to kindergarten a storm began to build up inside me. When we arrived, I refused to get out of the car. I clung to the seat fearing for my life. I cried, I ranted, I fought for my freedom. Then my brother, who was already a first-grader, suggested to stay with me. Feeling understood, I gained hope instantly. I got out of the car. The kindergarten teacher opened the door. My mother went up to speak to her, leaving me and my brother on the drive, then came back.
“Look, sweetie, your brother can’t stay with you. It’s a kindergarten. It’s only for small children.” My heart started to race again, I felt like exploding, and that was when the storm broke loose! Full of rage I plopped down on the drive. I saw red, nothing but red, and then I saw my red boots at the end of my legs. I took them off and dashed them down the drive as far as my strength would permit. They flew through the air and hit the ground with a bump and a thump. “This is it,” I thought. “They won’t have me now. I’m a wild beast and a naughty girl. And I feel miserable. And no one will ever believe that I’m a really nice little person to be with.”
My mom and my brother left. Hot tears ran down my cheeks. I thought the kindergarten teacher would scold me now but she didn’t. Some children had curiously peeped out of the house and had witnessed my tantrum. All were sent inside except one. A prim little girl with a ribbon in her long hair squatted down beside me. She talked to me never minding how bad I had behaved and then invited me to play with her, and because she was so very lovely, I couldn’t help liking her. My boots were still lying on the drive. Quickly she fetched them, then I felt her hand in mine and together we went into the playschool. Her name was Haiquita and our friendship lasted all through kindergarten.
* * *
Eventually I grew out of my red boots. It is so much easier to control my inner storms now because, for one thing, it would be more than inappropriate for someone over 50 to be throwing boots in a temper tantrum. Grown-ups prefer smashing dishes at such occasions, although naturally, they must lose their marbles before doing that. Curiously enough boot throwing, also known as wellie wanging, has become a sport in some countries. No kidding! And who knows, I might get myself another pair of red boots just for the fun of flinging them into the air. Maybe when I reach the age of eighty. :oD
The End
I hope you enjoyed my tale about the red boots! I’m sure that everyone has got many, many stories of this kind, stories about things that really happened, little anecdotes that, summed up, express who we are. This blog is very much like a compilation of personal stories that convey to us the magic that lives within you, dear Vanessa. They are inspiring because they are true and authentic. Even the stories you make up about some of your fanciful characters are true because there is truth even in fiction. Who can draw the line between the reality we live in and the dreams and fantastic ideas we have. We are a fascinating mixture of the real and the unreal, a myth, a reality, a dream within a dream, like Edgar Allan Poe once wrote, and likewise a reality within a reality.
Love & Kisses, Veronica
These books and images are helping to ease the stress by providing a little escape and some beauty! Thank you. I have so many tales I’ve read and loved! A recent favorite is Garden Spells which has a magical apple tree and garden that was a nice little escape.
These blooming classics books are so beautifully designed! I’m sure anyone would be happy to receive them! I read all of these titles when I was young, and like you, The Little Princess was also one of my favourite stories. The movie was very beautifully done too, and I watched it with my daughters when they were children. By the way, I love your pretty slippers! 💗💕💗💕
Cinderella was and still is my favorite! We ended up getting the movie when I was around 9. I still sing the songs…when I’m doing chores around the house I sing,”sing sweet nightingale…”, and dance with my son while I hum “so this is love”, or in the garden watching and guiding the pumpkin vines to “salagadoola mechikaboola bibbidi bobbidi boo”. I don’t know the names of the songs though, lol! ☺ðŸ˜
Oh my goodness! So many good books! I have to say Anne of Green Gables is my absolute FAVE!! So much wanted to be like her! A hopeless romantic with a love of writing and adventure!! I can remember I wanted to have a tea party with all the pretty lace and tea cups! Thanks for the fun giveaway! These books are so beautiful!!
Little women is my favorite ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Charlotte’s Web is a favorite tale of mine! ðŸ·
The Secret Garden is my favorite. The books are beautiful!
I love the story of Cinderella. 💖
I’m gonna have to go with Alice ✨💖 This set is beautiful V!!
My favorite of all time is Pride and Prejudice but I absolutely love The Secret Garden too!!
Such a great gift! Whoever wins will be so lucky! I love all these classics and I read them more than once, because I taught my daughter. Some of my fondest memories are of her in character. She loved to put together a costume for each and every heroine. Alice was her favorite, but Heidi was another. When she was about seven, she wanted to be Heidi, and the only Heidi dress we could find was in Germany! Mail was not nearly as fast ten or twelve years ago!!! She grew up loving her, and on our first trip to the Alps, it was as she imagined. xoox Su
As you know, I adore Anne of Green Gables but I didn’t discover her until I was an adult. I loved Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books as a child so they still hold a special place in my heart, as does Little Women. Books are one of the greatest joys of my life.
These photos are so pretty, thank you for sharing your art. Another favorite book of mine is Isle of Dreams by Susan Branch. She tells really good stories with some beautiful art and photos along with them.
Oh how I love Heidi so much. I wonder sleeping under the moon with those sheeps.
I’m a Jane Austen girl, a 1ittle partial to Anne of Green, and love the March girls.
Oooh! I have always eyed these books in your pictures. I would love a chance to get them! One of my favourite books as of right now is The Analyst by Katzenbach, but if I have to choose a more classic one, I’d go for Pride and Prejudice.
Those are gorgeous! One of my favorites growing up – and it still is a favorite – was Jonathan Livingston Seagull. I also love Beatrix Potter books. â¤ï¸
I read Anne of Green Gables once a year. Usually in winter when my disposition needs adjusting. I believe deeply in the idea of “kindred spirits” and am thankful for the handful I have in my life. Thanks for all the beauty you share.
AMY Woods
I hope it’s not too late to be considered! Gorgeous books that would not only look amazing, but also tell some of my favorite stories 🌸
Awesome 💖 thanks for chance dear 💖
These are lovely and I’ve read and enjoyed them all. I’d like to give a shout out, though, to a book that got me through 5th grade. I read it over and over and over; I still remember whole passages. It was called _Lulu Herself_ and was written by Elizabeth Hubbard Lansing. (I recently saw a copy on Abe Books for $157.00!) Lulu is unsatisfied with her lot in life — she’s a minister’s daughter — and compensates by imagining a more sophisticated version of events. Her reveries are usually interrupted by a comment by her best friend, for comic effect.
I recently read The Railway Children and absolutely loved it
I’ve been wanting this set for some time now…im such a fan of all 4 books, especially Anne of Green Gables. I love the beautiful book covers!! Thanks so much for the chance to win!
Charlottes Web was read to us by my second grade teacher as a treat if we behaved that day. She would stop at an exciting point to make us groan with anticipation for the next session. I’m sure she was responsible for my love of reading.
