Bloom

When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I think about lately, are rosebuds…

Bloom 1

Because I tend my garden a little bit everyday, I have been watching the vines grow.

Wrapping around the building more and more each year.

Becoming greener and fuller this season.

Little buds beginning to form.

And slowly, slowly yesterday, a few began to open.

Bloom 2

Soon, it will be an outrageous explosion.

I have been waiting for months.

Dreaming about those warm spring days, when the white climbing roses pop open.

It’s happening.

This moment.

Oooooo!

A few more days, so I’ll wait patiently.

The warmth feels soooo good.

I am lawn mower obsessed.

We have two, and if they aren’t working I come unglued.

I know, why?

Over a lawn mower 🙂

Anyhow, they are both freshly serviced, and I spent 3 hours mowing late yesterday afternoon.

Then again at 6:30 this morning.

Nothing like freshly mowed ground.

Looks so nice.

I hope you had a lovely Easter.

I finished decorating more sugar eggs…

Bloom 5

I made a turkey on Sunday.

With spring vegetables, roasted potatoes and challah.

It was so lovely.

I have been packaging little faces and they are on their way to their new homes.

Also, the cottage might be ready for visitors very soon.

Matty and Miles love it in there.

We hide out in there a whole lot.

Bloom 4

Oh oh, I almost forgot.

I made the Trix Krispies!

(recipe here)

Trix crispies 2

I highly recommend them.

Trix crispies 3

They are a little fruity in flavor, but they are soooooo much fun!

I quite liked them actually.

They were not messy as I thought, and no color came off on my fingers.

Trix crispies 1

So super festive.

And in person even prettier.

Fun for a party or just to add a spark to any ole day.

I can’t get over how perfectly Willy Wonka-ish they are…

Trix crispies 4

Waaay too fun they were.

So glad I made them.

Trix aren’t just for kids, silly wabbit.

🙂

I am off to finish shipping little faces.

April 2nd today, can you belive it?

The days to live in my neck of the woods are these days.

Cool nights, warm days.

Time to absorb.

See you sooooon!

Bloom 3

Love, V

Sparkly heart

ps:  I am always listening to music, looking to see what’s new.

How about you?

What my fave artists are up to, new albums, etc.

I have been listening to Gold Panda a lot the last couple months.

Great for zoning out and painting, etc.

pss:  Miles is snoring sooooo loud under my desk.  You would think there was a little old man napping in my office nook 🙂

It’s still all icky and muddy here, nothing blooming! But I look forward to it! I haven’t made the treats with Trix before, but I’ve done it with lots of other cereals. There’s just something lovely about marshmallow and cereal, isn’t there? 🙂

  2. Miss Linda says:

Nothing blooming here either. Just gray with the sun trying to play peek a boo…It was 37 degrees this morning with a little breeze. Still too cold for flowers.
Your Trix treats look wonderful…very spring like colors and very inspiring for painting or mixing colors.
    Thank you for sharing

  3. Are those tiny red mushrooms on your sugar eggs? So divine!
Yup…your weather is just about like ours at this time of year. Scrumptiously awesome! I love fall and spring…I can do without the hot summer and the cold dreary winter when all I want to do is to curl up with a good book! My inner muse awakens in the spring kind of like waking up from winter hibernation.
Soon…I will be posting photos of our up-stairs remodeling of Laurelwood…as soon as all of the antique furniture gets put back in place. I vacuumed and dusted for three hours from all of the construction dust! It is the fairy dwelling, and paranormal ghost house of the previously elderly male owner. My oldest son wants to have some paranormal ‘investigators’ come with their special cameras at night and see what they can find! Maybe someday we’ll do it!
    Take care
    XO

Haven’t been around in a while but so happy to signon and see your smiling words right up top. 🙂 I’ve been garden obsessed myself. Have lots of little baby seedlings sprouting and trying to get their growing spots ready for them. I didn’t think I was ready for spring but now that it’s here I’m happy for it. I too love the smell of fresh cut grass. I’ve planted the last of that basil you sent me a while back, thought of you the whole time! 🙂
    love and blessings

  5. Thinking of you! Hope little Matty is doing well, Bless him…We aren’t quite to rose weather here yet, but soon! Can’t wait to smell that fresh-cut grass!
    Hugs,

  6. How lucky you are! We’re still having winter here in Germany at the moment. I’m longing for rosebuds and warmth and the spring perfume. And your photos make my longing even more urgent. I love your sugar eggs. What a crazy idea!

  7. Emalina says:

Those sugar eggs are works of art, and the krispies look delicious! It must’ve been a yummy Easter at your house! Hope it was a good one.

  8. Renee says:

Loads of ornamental pear trees blooming here. Our cherry trees have started blooming. Lots of other ground covers like phlox starting to bloom, too. Love the roses in the picture. We have been planting the garden and bought some fruit trees. I sent in an order today for more fruit trees.
There is a pink/purple magnolia in bloom, too. I found one the other day called a Jane Magnolia so had to get it to plant as a remeberance of my momma (her name was Jane).
I have to try the Trix recipe. I love the Rice Krispies treats (you know they only have 90 calories in the prepackeaged ones)

  9. Dixie says:

Can’t wait to take another peek into your enchanting cottage with the very special green door. Every girl needs a play house to hide out in, no matter what age 😉
Your sugar eggs are beyond belief amazing…so delicate and beautiful.

  10. micupoftea says:

Fun post, nice photos. Love the roses…challah and suagr eggs? What a treat! HAPPY April~

  11. Laura Tieri says:

What is that on your window? A giant mosquito?
I love the mushrooms on the eggs! How many did you end up making?
I just went out & bought the Trix cereal today. I can’t wait to make those Trix treats!
I’m already thinking, hmmm…..what else could you make them with???

  12. Its one of those skinny sheer winged dragon fly type things. No
mosquitos around here. Its too dry. Maybe around Monsoon season in
summer a little ;))) YAY for Trix!! They are too pretty for
    words!!

Vanessa, I love those climbing roses and I am extremely jealous over your wisteria! They both are on my plant bucket list.
So how many eggs did you put together in all? How will the insides get decorated? The base of the eggs are just so Victorian looking and they are such a Lovely addition to the look of the eggs!!!
I’m enjoying the the Gold Panda music, thanks!
Did u get my email about the Oprah interviews with Stevie Nicks?
My girls are playing Imagine Dragons and soooo I am as well;)

  14. Eve says:

Your sugar eggs are amazing, as are your roses. My roses are a bust. Between japanese beetles and mildew I am about to give up.

  15. Paula says:

I am so with you. Spring is just so vibrantly alive, adding color, warmth and taste. Like you – and many others – I just posted about Spring.
I like the music you use for relaxation and below is the link to the one I am grateful to have found:

My Callie Delicious is the snorer of out two fur babes. When she really gets going she will drown out the TV -lol- Your climbing roses are going to be amazing. Please keep us updated regarding their splendor. Your Trix treats are totally Willy Wonka wildness fun but alas I’m a die hard rice crispy treat fan :o) Your sugar eggs lovely and girlish, perfect for spring.
Easter weekend was go go go for us with a big family dinner on Sunday. A good time had by all.
    Have a great day.
    Always, Queenie

  17. Chris says:

Vanessa, I haven’t clicked the links yet, but those krispies look so cute! I think I’ll make krispies with mostly rice and some of the Trix. That way they won’t be tooooo sweet…. Plus, I put a LOT of marshmallow. I love marshmallow.
    The pups are adorable.

  18. Chriscakes!! Guess what? They were not too sweet, that is what
floored me 🙂 And I hate too sweet, and i liked them 😉

Can’t wait to see the unveiling of your cottage! I’ve been DYING to see it! So glad Matty is feeling better, that’s a relief. (whew!) And the Trix bars look fantastic, as do the Twix ones from a couple of posts ago. Will need to make those…As for roses, I always look forward to pics and pics of beautiful blooms from you every year 🙂 Honestly, you should start your own flower shop! You’d be rich!!

  20. Iantha says:

The sugar eggs are beautiful. It has been awhile since I last visited here and catching up has been a delight. Dear Daughter was just telling me today that her good friend was having a baby and we were to do the shower with the theme “Willy Wonka” is it just kismet that I happened to stop in and you offer up a perfect snack with the very same character that DD mentioned earlier. Today it felt like spring here, hard to believe that two weeks ago we were getting 12 inches of snow. Thanks for sharing these wonderful treats.

  21. Theresa says:

We are warming up, little by little. It’s still a bit cold here. But it isn’t stopping the flowers…we have forget-me-nots, tulips, hyacinths, pear blossoms, and green galore. My hubby had to mow the grass yesterday! Look at those fun Trix treats…they aren’t just for kids! 😉
