He's 3!
It's dark and rainy, perfect for baking puppy cookies.

Happy Birthday Miles!!
Shameless doggie mama post, I know.
But I love my boys so.
I was given furry children in life.
A gift so profound, I didn't know, until I knew.
And once you let these babes into your life…
Well, if you know…
Then you know.
A love so pure, so kind, so true.
They are so harmless and sweet.
Innocent precious souls, forever.
I wrapped a little gift for Miley this morning.
He has been after one of my white mice forever.
So…
I gifted him 1, and some vita-sausage pieces for doggies.
He opened it up and gobbled them right up.
We had some treats for his party guest, his little big brother Matty.
And then, like something we could only dream would happen.
We got Miles' "harumph" face on film.
(he tucks his lip up so funny, sometimes both sides)
Oh Miles.
Hahaha!
That hilarious harumph face comes in when he is annoyed, perplexed, or ready to get on with the show.
"Hey, I'm done here."
He grabbed his little mouse and went away to play quietly.
After lots of playing this morning…
Wrestling, chasing, hiding.
He is now napping 🙂
All growed up.
But always a baby to me.
And always happy.
What a gift to our lives.
He even changed Matty's life for the better.
Showing Matty not to be so quirky and mean and fearful.
Nothing like fur love.
At least to me.
What about to you?
Miles makes everyday special.
He's a cuddle bear at night.
He is curious and kind hearted to the core.
He is loving to everyone.
He adores going in the car, and he and his brother get Friday burgers every week.
(he jumps in circles and goes bonkers if I even say "car")
He sleeps on his back, and lives to wrestle with his human papa.
He does oodles of tricks, and can eat soup off a spoon which always amazes me.
I never knew dogs could eat proper like?!
He also runs away if I ask him if he wants to take a bath.
He eats fruit and veggies and everything else too.
But no bananas, thanks.
One thing is…
I could never express his true loving kindness.
It's amazing.
If you were here, he would hug you and love you too.

Happy Birthday to your baby boy! My baby boy doggie is Mickie, a 5 lb black white & tan chihuahua….I never thought I could love another dog after my Lulu died…
I hold him and he howls EVERY time I come home.
I go to people’s houses (for my job) and they always have their dogs locked in a room. I can hear them yipping ~ “let your dogs out, I love dogs!” I even had one sit on my lap the whole appointment….if only we humans could be more like them.
Happy birthday Miles! Do they really get to eat like a whole burger, with the bun and everything? What lucky pups! Mal would kill for a burger, he loves to eat and is not picky at all. One time we were grilling burgers and a whole patty fell on the ground. Mal gobbled it up as quickly as possible, too quickly I think because he then promptly threw it up a few minutes later. Silly boy!

Dogs are just sooooo awesome! I love that, pups in the lap during work appointments 😉
Yep, my boys get a whole plain burger with cheese. But I give it to them in little pieces. So, just a little jr burger. Then they get hard treats to clean their teeth 😉 Oh Mal, give him a burger for goodness’ sake, haha! Or bring him over to my pad for the afternoon. He will be sooooo food spoiled, haha! My boys get a bit of table food from time to time.
I make them special things every so often too, like boiled chicken with plain white rice. Or plain pasta, they love rice and pasta.
Matty who is picky as heck loves me to make him little white rice balls.
They like everything though. Matty is the picky one.
Miles will take anything you give him and eat it.
Matty takes it away, spits it out, and inspects it first.
Unless it’s turkey or meat, but only in smaller pieces, then he will eat it up.

Happy Birthday Mr. Miles. You are getting to be so grown up, and yet, still the famiily baby. Make that last as long as you can.

Happy Happiest of birthdays to sweet Miles! I know he will have a wonderful day filled with the fun that only a fur loving mama and papa can give. He reminds me much of my very missed fur boy Dylan. Just be sure not to give him grapes! Please no to grapes! They are very very bad for dogs.
Your doggie posts always make me wish to get another dog. But being barely able to care for my last remaining furbaby (Lyli the cat) and myself it makes me think I need to wait. Maybe one day…

I adore my “house Rabbits” and cannot imagine my life without all their cuteness, they calm me when I am stressed and always make me smile.

I agree with Jill…I wish people were more like dogs. I’d forgotten how tiny he was as a puppy! Violet said, “Boy, it sure looks like he had a good birthday.” Indeed.

I have Maya..the runt of a homeless litter of 8 girls! She is 3.
I have her little cousin, Donovan (so precious!)
4 cats… Mama kitty (Siamese), Greystone, Ebony aka Eboneezer and the newcomer… PURRcy.
THEN there are my Bantams…oh lordy girl…the sweetest pets ever!!! I take Emmett the rooster with me places and he is so impressive with his mature behavior!! I have 12 chickens 🙂 So hard to remember though…who eats who..be careful…who potties in the house/who doesn’t…who tries to get whose food…who won’t eat unless they are alone… mercy!

Hubby and I have 3 fur babies that are the light of our lives, I thank the universe for them every day and love them more than words can express! So good to read your blog and feel normal especially when all of our friends, sisters etc are up to their 2nd 3rd baby, having to attend endless baby showers, christening, birthdays x1000 haha. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if our fur babies were considered just as important by others, the way we see them.

Happy Birthday Miles!! My mean Flea needs a sweet brother like Miles to show him that the world is kind and loving and sweet – at least HIS world is and he really doesn’t need to mean/fearful of others. Matty really lucked out to have such great folks to bring in the brother love.
BTW Flea is one amazing soccer player….he plays with a full size ball and “dribbles” it through the yard and even bounces it off his head!

I don’t eat meat but sometimes my husband will cook a pork chop or steak or something meaty for himself.
You should see my dogs! It’s like they go crazy knowing there’s real meat in the house!
It’s amazing how they know! They don’t get excited like that when I’m cooking my veggie burgers! :0)

I thought I would share, tonight we grilled steaks and I had bought my fur-baby Billy James soup bones & I decided he would enjoy those with a nice grilled flavor, so of course I threw them on the grill and boy did he ever. After a nice long walk with his Dad and I he went back to his bone and now is snuggled up on couch and snoring happily to sweet dreams of a wonderful friday night.
I love you little white heater in the background we are looking for something exactly that size and I love the white color. Could you share where you got it??

I must know what Miles will do with his mousey. When my Dexter (border collie) and Chewie (Chihuahua mix) are gifted with stuffed animals, their one goal is to gut those suckers! Ha! They want to make my living room look like it is experiencing a snowfall. I used to throw the stuff away, but now I just stuff it back in so they can have at it again when they are so inclined!

We played with that poor little wet mouse all night. Tossing it back and forth, Miles taunting us with it. He LOVES to taunt.
Oh yes, my boys remove the eyes first, which I toss so no one chokes.
And then stuffing gutting ensues.
We (I should say ML) stuffs the toys back up and sews them shut again.
But we had this giant frog, that is so emtpy, it’s like a giant frog costume now 🙂
I think I’ll wash and sew today, that would be a good thing to do actually 😉

Arg, I just wrote a whole long comment and then my internet wasn’t working when I sent it so it got lost. Stupid internet!
Basically I think Mal could eat a burger if we gave it to him in little pieces so he didn’t make himself sick. We do give him little bites of our food sometimes, but he has never been so lucky as to get a whole burger!
Mal and I would love to come visit you! The only problem is Mal is very rude to other dogs and I do not think he and Matty would get along. I don’t know if he would actually bite because I have never wanted to risk it so I don’t let him get close (to dogs, he is fine with people). He needs to go to doggy boot camp!
Matty has to be quarantined when I have guests. Its weird, I have
this one old neighbor who Matty hates to pieces. She came for a visit as
she has since moved, and I had him on a leash and after I thought all was safe,
I became a bit lax with the leash, luckily I knew better and still had it
wrapped around my wrist, as she walked by he want for her calf and I pulled him
just as his teeth lightly graced her. But with other people, after he
meets them, I can take him off the leash – but only some people. If the
person has any little tinge of shadiness about them, he is out for the kill
🙂
Matty basically hates everyone. So, most of the time, I just put him
in my studio room office area. Poor Matty. But I do love having a
guard dog too. Its tough because I cant have many visitors because of
him. But at the same time, he protects me. So, that is good.
Miles loves other dogs. He follows them around and gets drunk with
excitement, his eyes go googly and he cant focus hes so overjoyed.

Poor Matty! At least Mal is usually cool with people. He would probably be a jerk to Miles too though. He basically barks super mean at all dogs. Like I said, I don’t know if he would actually attack/bite, but I am too afraid to risk it! It is a shame because he used to like other dogs when we first got him and then after we had him neutered he started getting aggressive. I have no idea why! It would be so nice to see him get to play with another dog, but I just don’t know if that will happen.
Happy birthday to precious Miles – what a face! Both your dogs are so sweet, and I love the posts that include them. What a joy they must bring to your life! And by the way, besides chocolate (which most people know about), it can also be poisonous to give dogs grapes (which many people don’t know) – thought I’d pass along that info for Miles’ 3rd birthday!

I think its great to remind for sure, we need to protect those little
babies. I have been a crazy woman about the do not eat food list. No
grapes or raisins or chocolate (bakers and unsweetened and dark being the most
dangerous), no avocados or onions. No cooked bones or poultry bones
etc. Gotta protect those babies ;))

Your fur babies are so wonderful! Nothing is better than a fur baby. We had 4 children, but currently have 4 fur babies. The children are grownup and married. Our fur babies will never leave us for some other person that happens to come into their lives. They will always be there to snuggle and keep us warm on a cold, winter night. All they ever ask in return is that we rub their fat bellies, and give them a little bite of whatever we eat whenever we eat it.
