Where or where on earth have I been??? Well, let me tell you. It has been snowing here. Arizona snow that is… I woke up one morning and what did I see, but all kinds of sparkles dancing around me…
I hopped out of bed, in a dreamy delight, and ran to the window, awaiting a sight. Did it snow, oh please snow, did it flutter down my way?
It did, oh it did! It was cold it was grey… The flurries dancing about, oh what a sight! But wait, oh wait, the sky is not grey… It is a miracle, it is snowing, with no clouds around…
I wildly run about, where is my coat and my scarf? My snow boots, freshly washed, my mittens standing by, where is my hat, I can’t wait… Must go out and play…
What, there is a problem, I step right outside. I feel my skin is toasting, I have stepped into an oven. I rip off my scarf, my mittens too… And what is wrong with this snow, it is rather fluffy, oh fooooo!
Is this a cruel joke? I must remove all my garb, while hundreds of white fluffy things stick to my eyelashes. They invade my hair, and tickle my ears. "I am not happy to see you" I holler, no cheer…
I look to the sky, and what do I see?
Why, its mother nature laughing at me. She thinks this is funny, she thinks I should smile… She has no idea I’ve been praying for snow for a long while. She scolds while she giggles, "You don’t live in Maine, now stop praying for snow, you’ve become such a pain." I go off with a huff, I am disgusted you see. The Desert Broom is shedding, and playing snowy tricks on me…
I am speechless with mother nature… People say, feel lucky, you have bikini weather all year. What? Say I… Sounds like a nightmare, I feel like I could cry… I guess the only good thing about it being 88 degrees today, on November 19th, is that, we still have flowers…
And lovely oranges are growing on the orange tree…
And, I can brag about my amazing coats without sounding obnoxious, because I can’t even wear them…
So the Du buh Du sisters (who trickled in this weekend) and I, have created our own piano bar, where we wash our woes away with ginger tea and follow that up with apple crisp… (better photos to follow of these four precious girls, when their sister Maura arrives)
Okay, in all honesty, there are fun and good things happening… For instance, if you get a chance you must go over to Hey Pretty Cupcake, where you can now find some of my work on mirrors. And at the Hey Prety Cupcake Etsy shop, you will find some of my work and Marmee’s work, and a bunch of other fun work on magents and stickers, and ornaments, OH MY!
And tomorrow (Tuesday Nov 20th), early afternoon, you will find some birds for sale.
Birds in nests, birds with little eggs, birds in party attire, but all super sparkly and jeweled and in cone hats!!! Where will you find them you ask? They will be in my little shop…
See you soon!!

Oh me oh my! I was delighted to hear you had snow, but then you said nooooo……..it wasn’t so! Oh man.
It would be the icing on the cake.
I think Maine may be calling you for a visit. Then you could put all those lovely “winterland wonder” clothes on.
Maybe the birdies need a fur coat to go with their caps.
You delight.

Oh, you just crack me up! YOu really had me going for a minute there and I thought it was real snow, I was going to be so jealous! Neat pictures though! What gorgeous ladies! I love thier piano bar! And yeah for new goodies and birdies! Sound like great stocking stuffers!
oh!! What lovely fluff!!! (though it looks as if it would make my nose itch, rather!) I agree with you about the snow (as you know) I greatly desire it!! And I know we shall never get any here…..alas, alack!
And I shall be haunting your shop today in search of your new birdies!! 🙂
If only everyone could see through your eyes Curiosa! What a fun place the world would be…
Photo #5 is makin’ me jealous and how did you do it? The circular motion…
Paypal me now for a conehead birdie…I don’t care if his glue is wet…
If you ever need snow, darling, you know where to find me!
it’s supposed to snow here tomorrow! ahhhh!!!
btw, i get to go to new mexico several times this year for work but not arizona ’cause you’re not in my region!!!!
we should plan a long weekend anyway, eventually…
You can have some of my snow anytime! (although it hasn’t started just yet)
Oh that Mother Nature, she can be such a b*tch sometimes, can’t she? 😉
Oooh….it may not have been snow, but it was just as magical, at least to me who has never seen anything like it! And the bonus is that it’s not as wet and cold as snow!
I LOVE your Du Buh Du sisters and their piano bar…I think Maura will fit in quite nicely as she is oh so chic!
Can’t wait to see your lovely glitter birds! It just amazes me how unbelievably talented you are Miss Vanessa, and about the most fun person I’ve ever “met”! 🙂
It nearly snomed here too, not fluff though!
Welcome to the Hey Pretty Cupcake family!!! I’ve been meaning to send Vanessa more stuff but I keep putting it off. =/
I think the fluff would drive me crazy too. I would be afraid of breathing it in. I know I live in New York where god KNOWS what’s going in my lungs, I’m weird that way.
What on earth is that fluffy stuff falling from the sky???? I’m totally confused…see, I live in New Jersey, so I’ve never seen or heard of anything like that! It’s looks kind of cool though! 🙂
Birds, pretty birds, thats for me and with cone hats no less. That was the most fantastic poem, I laughed and laughed.
Those photos gave me an immediate allergy attack! I would love snow. Do you think we’ll get any this year??
At least it looks pretty Miss Vanessa Seuss – for a second there I really thought it was snow. Considering it is 60 degrees here in Pittsburgh I thought it was climate change on steroids. Love those dolls – you always have the greatest finds.
Good heavens…I heard Phoenix got rain last weekend, and if you had gotten snow before us…I may have been quite jealous indeed! Those were mighty beautiful pictures…I would love to see what you could do with the cottonwood’s annual shed as well…So very fun!!
Vanessa
I’ll trade you some fresh flowers for some snow.
If we ever get some!
I’m off to see the bad birdies now.
xo

Oh Honey!!!!! You make me giggle and laugh and I FEEL your pain!!!!!!! 84 degrees here today and running the air conditioner as we “speak”
I have decided to go with the unseasonal niceness ,more days to play outside for my baby! No sweaters ….wah!!!!! At least my lawn is still lovely.
Vanessa, what a great post! Wanna trade places with me? We had our first snow dusting yesterday morning, but it was gone by noon. My girls did there snow dance hoping that it would snow enough to close school, but no such luck! Hang in there, mother nature has been known for some strange things! 🙂
got me sneezing! here looking at that fluff…wow!
You can always travel to snow I say, enjoy those oranges baby!!
It feels like snow here… but due to the clear skies, we’re just getting icy patches. Yikes.
You’ve been busy. I’m up to my eyeballs in vintage fabric and working like a crazy girl trying to get it all loaded into etsy before the weekend. 😀 I’m on Thrifty Goodness overload. 😀
Too bad about no snow! But those birds in their party hats? Love them!
We have cottenwood trees here in Kansas that pretend to snow too. But then, we also get the real snow and plenty of it.
Love the little sisters sitting all in a row. What great pictures you have here. Everything is such a treat and a pleasure to browse.
We never have snow here either. Well maybe once in the last ten years. Silly broom plant to play tricks on you!
How fun….snow with out the ice and rain…looks like a wonderful day!
Have a very blessed day!
Smiles, kari and kijsa
At least you can shovel that kind of snow in a bathing suit. Hehe. I’m not so sure I think year round bathing suit weather is a blessing. I mean, I haven’t worn a bikini for twenty years! It’s a frightening thought.
Hi Vanessa,
LOL being in Australia in a part of the country where we don’t get snow, I was thinking that it was snowing in your photos and couldn’t work out how with no clouds, LOL! Loved the read, how enjoyable!!!!
And yep, no prom in Australia but we did have a Year 12 formal at the end of our final year, and also a year 11 Debutante Ball for those who wanted to participate… in white dresses…
Miss Vanessa! This was so funny! But also I feel very very sad for you that it isn’t snowing! I’m waiting for snow as well here, it’s really cold so I really hope thre will be some snow this year! But I think that the stuff that looked like snow is really amazing aswell! All that fluff! It’s beautiful in it’s own way in my opinion!!!!
And those birdies with the hats are too cute, did you make those?? Love them!!
Thank you for your sweet comment, hope you have a nice week!!
(I’m sending my wishes for snow to where you live as well :))
Wow, amazing pictures, I really thought that it was real snow.

some silly-ness is about in the south west…my motto is no snow EVER!!!!…happy thanksgiving…blessings, rebecca
Even if the snow was fake, nature had a way of creating an illusion (and a beautiful one at that)…love the glitter birds in party attire, I need a Christmas branch like yours 🙂
Miss Vanessa, I loved your “snow”!!!
also please tell lovee that I had to write another letter to Marie Osmond it’s on my blog now.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving
Sweet story- That looks just like when the cat tails on the lake behind us explodes into a billion gazillion fluffs! They are everywhere!!!! The dog chases them all around! I love the headboard- but you’re gonna hurt yourself lugging stuff like that around! Happy HolidayS!!!! I am digging out some Christmas stuff today too! And baking! The smell of bread rising and a Paula Deen Chocolate Pecan pie baking….can you smell it???? yum! I hope you have a lovely day tomorrow! 🙂 kim
I didn’t know about Desert Broom; I think I prefer snow! We’ve had a few flakes, but none have stuck around long enough to make an impression. Your birds are lovely! Happy Thanksgiving to you and Mr. Lovee. xoxox

I Love the snow poem! And what the heck! That white stuff is from a plant?! There’s so much of it! It is BEAUTIFUL though!
And Love the sisters dolls!
Sandra Evertson
Happy Thanksgiving!
Donna O sent me here and I am still laughing with tears and I must share this with my husband. Your Du-buh-Du sisters did me in even more so than the “artificial” snow fall! You are fabulous!
Christine

What a bummer! Tell you what when the snow flys here, I’ll send you some. 🙂
Your pictures are so amazing. I love the cute dolls and can’t wait to pop over and see what you’ve been making! Have a happy Thanksgiving!
You say you are “speechless with Mother Nature”? Well, for once, so am I !! I could be snowed in no problem as long as you keep entertaining me!!!
Have a Happy One Vanessa!
PS- Glad to see Christine LF came by. I told her she would love your witty way- you’re right up her alley!!
ummm, could you pass the Claritin with all that crazy white stuff! Vanessa, I’m having some slight jealousy issues over your Du buh Du sisters…they are fab-u-lous!!! And I simply ADORE the birds. I want a whole tree of just those!! xoxo…jenn
Oh snow! How I love it so, but I must say your photos are grand. How amazing that Desert Broom is- I could play in it all day! And while we will hit a crazy 65 tomorrow, no snow, *sniff* it will be rain rain rain and nothing but mudpits. So enjoy your weather and those oranges too- have a lovely Thanksgiving!!!
I was entranced and totally taken in by your story, thinking “but I thought it never snowed in Arizona?!” And such lovely pictures! I snowed here in Montreal yesterday and today and I watched my cat Monsieur L’Orange watch the snow and I felt very happy because I do love snow (but talk to me in March and the romance will most certainly be over!)
Actually, it snowed, not I…but I would snow for you if I could!
Weird…i tried to send you an email but it came back undelivered! It said truncated or something!! Oh brother!
Anyhoo, i wanted to wish you a Happy B-day Miss V! When is it? And i hope you enjoy the Tori Amos concert….wow, front row!!! That is great!!!
Those cone headed birdies are funtastic! I wish i could have ginger tea and apple crisp with the Du Buh Du girls!!! What fun!
Oh, you had me fooled for a sec with the snow day in Arizonia! Wow, you have weird plants!
Your version of a white Christmas is very sweet. You need to pop up here for a visit. We drove up into the mountains the other day and were in a winter wonderland – covered in snow and freezing! Perhaps you’ll get a Christmas miracle…
Oh, I do love homemade pizza! I started making my own crusts several years back and it is one of my favorites- such a sense of accomplishment. 🙂
I love the sparkly bird. Do you have any alone for sale that I could place on my holiday tree or around my home? I have a nest I found for one if you do. 😀
